Glenn Braddock’s Wrestling School, founded by the late Glenn Braddock and now owned and operated by his oldest daughter, the reigning MWE Riot Champion Glory Braddock, is not built for luxury. In the spirit of Glenn Braddock himself, who was a rough, grizzled veteran, the gym and school itself are both dirty and look rather run down. In contrast, the office for Glory Braddock is quite nice. The desk is a luxurious looking oak desk, the concrete floor is still there but the office is decorated with photographs from her days as a wrestler. Two fancy, tall bookcases are against a wall and two large green plants are near the window. The British Bombshell is wearing a royal purple velvet skirt that stops just above the knee and a sleeveless white blouse. Her long gorgeous blonde hair hangs unrestrained to shoulder length and she is standing perched atop matching leather high heeled pumps. The Riot Champion sits at her desk, with a patient gaze on her face as she waits on a visitor.
The door to her office slowly creaks open. The British Bombshell looks up to spot two individuals making their way inside her office. One is a black haired female dressed in black denim jeans, black boots, and a plain white top. The other is a massive well built muscular figure with stringy long hair wearing torn denim blue jeans, brown boots, and a gray top. These are the two closest friends Glory Braddock has, her two closest advisors; Sophie O’Brian and her brother Mark O’Brian, the tag team known more popularly as Total War. Braddock smiles at her childhood friends.
“So, how are the students doing?”
“Bunch a weak kneed twerps, the lot of ‘em!” Mark growls. Glory chuckles but Mark’s sister, Sophie, doesn’t find it that funny.
“What my Neanderthal brother is trying to say is that there are some from the new crop of trainees who are finding the rigorous training rather...difficult.”
“Ah, well that’s to be expected then, isn’t it?”
“That’s what I told him.” Sophie sighs. “I think he just wants an excuse to beat them up.”
“Well keep him in check. Teaching them about the harsh realities of this sport is one thing, downright hurting them is another.”
“Hey! I know what I’m doing!” Mark protests. Sophie smacks him in the back of the head.
“Go outside and watch the students until Glory and I have talked. Can you do that you smelly baboon?”
Mark growls angrily but nods his head as he turns and trudges away. As soon as Mark has exited the office Sophie turns and finds a seat across from Glory’s desk. The British Bombshell smiles.
“You know mate, if your brother really wanted to wrestle again, to fight again, why doesn’t he just climb back into the ring?”
“Nothing would make him happier, Gloria. But someone needs to be here to watch these green rookies. Besides, if he returns he will want to team with me again. The clown is nothing if not overprotective of me and would want to reunite Total War in hopes of tag team glory.”
“You do make quite a team.” Glory points out. Sophie nods her head.
“This is true but I have already had my fill of tag team success. People know I can be successful at the tag team level. What I need to prove is that I am just as proficient as a singles competitor.”
“You’ve done that already. You are a four time world champion. Many do not win any world championships in this ruthless business. You have nothing to prove.”
“You know this, I know this, but the rest of the world refuses to acknowledge it.” Sophie sighs out of a seemingly deep seeded frustration. “Look, it is no secret that you and I have had our differences of opinion in the past, especially as to how we interpreted your father’s wrestling philosophy.”
The British Bombshell nods her head in acknowledgement. Sophie, Mark, and Glory were the first three graduates of Glenn Braddock’s Wrestling School. They were the first to receive the infamous “Final Lesson” from Glenn Braddock, a lesson that is simply a few mere words; “A wrestler is, him or herself, the greatest of weapons. Use what you have learned wisely.” Glory interpreted that as meaning do not take needless risks. Sophie O’Brian in stark contrast interpreted it as a policy of scorched earth; do whatever it takes to achieve your goals, even if it means seriously injuring your opponent or ruining their life. Victory at any cost. This led to many classic matches, not out of anger but out of mutual respect, to see who the better wrestler was, who was the better student of Glenn Braddock. Most believe Glory Braddock has proven herself with her fourteen world championships but in the mind of both Glory and Sophie, the answer is still not definitive.
“But there is one difference between you and I; you have the masses convinced of your greatness in any and all environments, whether it is singles, tag team, hardcore, submissions. You name it you can do it. I know that I am the same as you in every way. You know that I am the same as you in every way.”
“I agree.” Glory nods her head in agreement.
“But the people do not. I’m consistently labeled as a tag team specialist or a really great mid-card superstar. When I was a world champion I had the entire system rocked, the fans were shocked and questioning whether they were wrong about me. Now I’m back to being pigeonholed as someone who will never win the big one yet I have won the big one before.”
The British Bombshell sighs deeply. “I take it that you’re about to tell me something I won’t like.”
“Correct. For a long time now I have held back, for your sake I have tried to do things your way. But look at where it got me? I have been overlooked in MWE. And that ingrate Megan Monroe disrespects me at every turn. But now in what was a pleasant surprise to me, I am gifted with another opportunity at the MWE Intercontinental Championship. And you know I cannot afford to lose again.”
“I know.” Braddock says with a solemn look on her face.
“I have to return to that dark place where I feel most comfortable. Most importantly I have to return to the way I have always interpreted your father’s final teaching. I have to return to Scorched Earth. That philosophy is what earned me four world championships, I know it will earn me my first taste of gold in MWE.”
“You are good enough to win the right way, you know that.”
“I could if Megan played by the rules but you know she won’t. Keelan Jayce may play by the rules but Megan won’t, and if the two of us play by the rules but Megan doesn’t then Megan will yet again find a way to cheat me out of what is rightfully mine.” Sophie shakes her head. “I apologize, Gloria, and I sincerely hope that this does not hurt our friendship, but I must return to the dark place and rain down scorched earth upon Megan and Keelan.”
Glory Braddock nods her head. “I understand, Sophie. Do what you must, and know that no matter what you do, I will always be your best friend. Nothing will ever get in between the bond that you and I have.”
“Thank you, Gloria. I just wanted to clear the air about what is coming.” Sophie pauses momentarily. She then points at Glory. “Are you prepared?”
“Prepared for what?”
“Henri Black, of course.”
“Oh, him.” Braddock sighs. “Yes, I am ready. Henri, as always, will be a challenge. And he seems more intense than ever before. But I will bring my best. He will truly have to beat The Best in the World in order to take the Riot Championship from me.”
Sophie narrows her eyes. “This is where you and I have always drifted apart in our philosophies. You believe your father would want you to do your level best and let the chips fall where they may. You may defeat Henri Black at your very best. After all, you beat him before. But he has clearly gone to that same dark place I am prepared to return to. Will he be satisfied with simply doing his best but still being bested by The Best in the World or will he also want to utilize a scorched earth policy?”
Braddock smirks knowingly, for she knows exactly where Sophie is going with this. “Fair question. But in my defense you and I did battle on more than one occasion, me fighting under my interpretation of father’s philosophy and you with your philosophy. And I beat you.”
“And I have beaten you before as well. That’s why you cannot honestly say that you are better than me.”
“Correct.” Glory Braddock remarks with a nod of her head. “I suppose we’ll see which of us is successful and who is not at Coup De Grace.”
“I suppose we will.” Sophie says with a knowing grin of her own. “I do hope we both leave holding championship gold, Gloria. I truly hope so.”
