Singles Match
Alex Andrews VS Atti ValentineAfter her big win against the veteran Morgan Malice at By Any Means, Alex Andrews was chosen to open Dog Days Of Summer and welcome Atticus Valentine to MWE. Uncle to that Eliza Valentine, first ever MWE (at the time Millennium) champion and Riot champion, this wasn’t his first rodeo, having already made his professional debut in Southside before taking some time off. In the first couple of minutes of the match he showed some of that ring rust he inevitably collected in these months away from competition, which allowed Alex to get some offense in, taking the early lead and scoring the first near fall of the match with an ace crusher. On the wings of enthusiasm, Andrews controlled the opponent, keeping the match slow paced and working on Atticus’ legs to keep the high flier grounded. That seemed like a good strategy for what she knew about Valentine, having studied the few matches he wrestled in Miami. But the blonde man came back from his hiatus with a few tricks up his sleeve, using both feet to push Alex away and blocking the set up of a figure four. Andrews quickly stood up and charged at Atti with a running crossbody but he used her own momentum to turn it into a spinning powerslam right into a pinning predicament. Alex kicked out in two. Atti was flaunting a meaner side tonight, a brand new aggression that he expressed with heavy shots to the body of the young rookie, knocking her down and kicking her on the ribs as she tried to pick herself up. He as well opted for a slower pace, at least in this middle part of the match, relying on hard kicks and stiff elbows to wear her down, making several pinning predicament to keep the pressure on her. He also earned himself a couple of warnings, one for pressing his forearm on her neck during a cover and one for dragging her face across the top rope. He shrugged both of them off, not caring about the referee too much. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Alex's waist and lifted her for a german suplex. Andrews blocked it, hooking her leg with his and tried to power out of the waistlock. It didn’t work quite as well for her, failing to break the grip that actually became tighter, lifting her off the ground a second time. Alex wasn’t able to counter the released german this time, but she still landed on her feet, quickly taking Atti on his knees with a low dropkick and following up with a hurricanrana driver that earned her only a count of two. The following minutes saw Alex taking the spotlight, showing once again that impressive set of skills that make her such an interesting prospect. She even had the chance to close the deal and walk out with another prestigious win in her palmares, but Atti was able to duck her rainmaker and, this time, connecting the german suplex. Third time's a charm for Valentine who, from that moment on, kept control of the match, speeding up the pace. This was probably the key of the match, his speed and agility unmatched by Alex who got almost knocked out there and then by a savate kick right on the face. Atticus then connected with some of his aerial maneuvers, from a 450 splash to a beautiful springboard moonsault. Andrews, to her credit, never gave up, always trying to turn the tides and regain control, fighting back and stunning the opponent with a jumping knee. As she went for an irish whip though, Valentine reversed the maneuver and took a run at her, driving both knees into her face. Next he performed a snapmare and kicked her head off with a vicious roundhouse. Alex was out, but Valentine wanted to end things in style, climbing once again onto the top rope and connecting with the Valentine’s Day (swanton bomb) to pick up his first win in MWE. WINNER: Atti Valentine BY: Pinfall (Valentine’s Day), 8:16 |
We open backstage to the ready area. We find the lovely and very deadly combination of Summer Collins and Jessica Lasiewicz, better known as Fabulous. The ladies are already dressed to compete in their respective ring gear and look intensely focused on their task at hand, namely defeating Nightfall Rising.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
Donnie, Jay, our history is not one written with butterflies and unicorns. It is one written with angst, bruises, and maybe just a little bit of blood.
The filthy rich Summer Collins furrows her brow out of curiosity.
Summer Collins:
Did we shed blood in our last match them?
Jessica Lasiewicz:
I’m not sure, to be perfectly honest. But it doesn’t matter, the point is we have crossed paths before. You no-showed our first match and that was mistake number one because you showed us disrespect. You showed this sport disrespect. You couldn’t bother to compete like men so you walked off the job. Hell, you were lucky to still have one. You were also lucky to get a rematch against us, and on that night you made mistake number two. You bent the rules. You cheated to get a win over us. We were already feeling disrespected but then you just rubbed salt in the wound. You pissed us off.
Collins smirks knowingly, confidently.
Summer Collins:
Trust me, you don’t want to piss us off. And you really don’t want to piss off Jessica. She holds a grudge for a very long time. She can torture you in unimaginable ways when she’s feeling really rotten. And that was our plan heading into the triple threat against you two and Jetpack at Big In Japan. We wanted to exact revenge and we got a small portion of that revenge by winning that match.
The Archangel pauses for a period of time, the purpose being to increase the drama, but then she just simply shakes her head.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
That wasn’t enough. Like Summer says, I hold a grudge. But I’m not the only one. She still holds a grudge. We both do because you poked an angry bear with a shark stick. You provoked a great white shark and now it’s payback time.
Summer Collins:
Nice shark analogy, especially with Shark Week coming up.
Lasiewicz rolls her eyes.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
Tonight isn’t about our mission to prove ourselves as among the best tag teams in the world today. Tonight is about revenge. Tonight is about a match the two of us have been itching to have for a very long time. We have been wanting this match with you two clowns ever since Big In Japan but we got distracted. MWE World Tag Team Championship aspirations distracted us. Right now the Golden Era and APE are fighting over those and maybe after tonight we’ll get back in the conversation but for now? For now we take our frustrations out on you two. For now we beat the hell out of you two losers.
Summer Collins:
And maybe, just maybe, cement our names as the best in the business in the process. Trust me when I say that it will be absolutely FABULOUS!
Lasiewicz shakes her head
Jessica Lasiewicz:
For us maybe, but not for them…
Singles Match
Khali Washington III VS Topher Constantine JuniorA rematch Khali wanted and asked for after what he considers Topher’s fluke win at the last PPV, a blemish on his record he wanted to wash away as soon as possible. The bell had just rung and KW3 was already charging full head of steam at Topher, trying to decapitate him with a clothesline. With his usual nonchalance Topher ducked it and rurned around, doubling him over with a kick in the mid section. He wasted no time and quickly went for the win with his sunset flip powerbomb, coming really close to the shocking record time win. This only infuriated the Bad Boy even more, but his strikes lacked the precision and unpredictability to really be effective. Most of them were ducked and dodged by Topher. And with Washington’s guard now lowered, it was easy as pie for Topher to enter his defense and wreak havoc with swift punches to the ribs. Hit after hit, Khali had to stop for a moment to catch his breath, and that was when Constantine hit him with a flurry of forearm strikes to the face., pushing him all the way into the corner where he continued his assault with kicks to the chest. Topher then dragged the opponent back to his feet and sent him in the opposite corner, ending up with his back against the turnbuckle as Khali reversed it. And a moment later, the Bad Boy squashed him in the corner with a splash. Now firmly in control Washington was literally dismantling Topher, and enjoying every single moment. After showing off with several suplexes, the last one holding Junior upside down for half a minute, the Chicago born lifted him for a powerbomb and violently launched him against the turnbuckle, inflicting more damage to his back. As Topher was recovering in the corner, KW grabbed the middle rope with both hands and held onto it to drive his shoulder in his midsection several times, before throwing him back to the centre of the ring with a belly to belly suplex. Khali didn’t even try to make the cover, rather he was punishing the younger brother of CCJ. This blind thirst for blood almost cost him as Topher caught him off guard with a quick roll up. Khali kicked out but when he got up to his feet and ate a standing dropkick that sent him out of the ring. As the end was drawing close, the pace of the match picked up once again, which favored the more agile of the pair. Constantine obtained a couple of “almost three” with his Or Whatever and Or Something, but the Bad Boy wasn’t going to take another loss, kicking out and preparing himself for the opponent’s next offense. Khali waited in the corner, luring Topher in and slamming him on the canvas with an STO as he charged in. Then he began caving his chest in with a series of ruthless stomps, mounting on top of the floored opponent and hammering him with punches to the face, stopping only after the referee threatened him with a DQ. This didn’t make him any less aggressive, his punches just as stiff and always aiming at Topher’s head, leaving him stunned. Khali lifted him for another stalling suplex, this time for an even longer hang time, a true demonstration of power from the Bad Boy. Perhaps a bit too long, allowing Topher to recover and shift his bodyweight to land behind his shoulders. Instinctively, Constantine pushed his opponent, backing down toward the corner at the same time. What he didn’t realize was that he accidentally shoved KW3 against the referee, who got knocked down in the process. Khali immediately turned back to face his opponent, charging at him and taking him out with a huge spear, right into the cover. The count went well after the three, but unfortunately for him there was no one to count. Khali cursed out loud, shaking the referee to wake him up from the impromptu nap.The official eventually came back to senses, getting up to his feet still visibly dazed. Washington turned his focus back to his opponent who was quick to kick him in the stomach and hit the American Style Piledriver with his last energy. Topher was so exhausted and battered that he couldn’t keep the leg hooked, and KW3 instinctively put it on the bottom rope. The referee never saw that, counting up to three and awarding the win to Topher. WINNER: Topher Constantine Junior BY: Pinfall (American Style Piledriver), 9:31 |
Topher Constantine Jr the winner of the match, has already made his way to the back. Topher's theme song fades while a sweaty Khalil looks at the referee and continues to argue his point.
Khalil Washington III:
I had him beat. I had Topher beat. You could have counted up to ten, Topher wouldn't have kicked. But, .....you was nowhere around to count the three.
The referee tries to make his case, but an annoyed and not very happy Khalil Washington III wasn't having it.
Khalil Washington III:
Where were you? .....Then if that wasn't bad enough, if things couldn't get any worse. It did, because you counted the three, with my foot on the rope by two. What happened?
The referee says he's sorry, he didn't see it.
Khalil Washington III:
Oh now you're sorry. Okay, but sorry doesn't cut it, it's not going to give me my well deserve win.
Referee: Come on man, what do you want me to do?
Khalil Washington III:
I want you to reverse that bad decision
Referee:
I can't.....
Before the referee could say another word, Khalil connects with a haymaker sending the referee crashing to the canvas. Khalil grabs the rather young referee and roughly pulls him back to his feet and pushes him to the corner of the ring. He followed with a hard slap, this is when a young lady comes rushing to the ring. It's Kassie Johnson. She bravely gets between the referee and Khalil.
Khalil Washington III:
What are you doing?
Khalil Washington III:
You have to stop.
Khalil Washington III:
Get out of my way!!!
Kassie Johnson:
No!!!!
Khalil seems frustrated but also taken back by Kassie's bravery.
Kassie Johnson:
If I do what you ask, you will do something that could jeopardize your career. You might get suspended or even fired.
A smirk appears on the face of Khalil.
Khalil Washington III:
What the heck do you care?
Kassie Johnson:
I do care!!!!
Khalil Washington III:
Oh yeah?! Prove it!!!!
Kassie thinks for a second and quickly moves forward and kisses Khalil on the cheek, this caught Khalil off guard,as Kassie immediately looks at the ground.
Kassie Johnson:
Please don't do this. Khalil slightly nods, grabs Kassie by the arm.
Khalil Washington III:
We gotta talk.
The scene begins to fade as Khalil exits the ring with Kassie, as other referees check on the young man.
Singles Match
Tank Steiner VS NinaTank was literally towering over the small Chicago native, but Nina didn't seem too impressed or, if she was, she hid it well. No surprises she went immediately for his legs, chopping the Austrian Hulk down with swift kicks to the thigh. Her natural agility and that sambo training she got at the Chicago Fight Lab kept her away from Tank's shots while she continued working on the legs, notoriously a weak spot in athletes of that size. When she eventually managed to get the big man on his knees, she kicked him hard to the side of the head, flooring him.with a running kick to the face. She now had him right where she wanted him, laying on the mat where she could inflict more damage to his knees, with stomps and painful looking holds. It was no secret that Tank spent some time on the sidelines for a knee injury, and Nina was determined to exploit it to her advantage, in a similar way to what Devin Hearst did. But unlike the former Riot champion, she lacked the pure strength to maintain the hold when Steiner tried to force his way out of it, successfully breaking up the submission. As they were back on their feet, Nina tried to apply once again the same successful strategy, but she failed to duck a right punch from the big man. The blow left her stunned and stumbling back toward the corner. At this point, the fans watching at home were expecting to see his world famous and feared chops, but much like he did in his debut match against Megan Monroe, Tank refused to use the most devastating move in his arsenal against a woman, squashing her with his bodyweight. A huge belly to belly suplex sent Nina all the way across the ring and when she slowly pushed herself up, the over 300 pounder was on his way to behead her with a big clothesline. It was a one way match from that moment on, dominated by the super heavyweight who disposed of her at his leisure. To Nina’s credit, she confirmed her toughness by resisting all the power moves Herr Steiner put her through, kicking out from powerbombs, suplexes and the likes, even surviving Das Boot, the running big boot size 13 right to the face. At the end of it, she was barely standing, but at least still in the match. Through Tank’s absolute dominance, Nina had a moment to shine when, out of nowhere, she caught him with The Sting, the casting punch made famous by the russian MMA artist Fedor Emel’janenko she learned by her trainer and former Riot General Manager Yulia Kirilenko. The sudden strike, in the past capable of knocking out opponents, barely rocked the big man. And still, it was her best and probably last chance to turn the tides of the match. She went in with hard and quick strikes, using her knees and kicks to inflict the most damage in the shortest time, dropping her strategy to weaken his legs. This allowed her to obtain a near fall with a beautiful tornado ddt, but that was the last offense she was able to put in. Steiner ended the match a minute later with Der große Kaboom after flattening her with a series of three Austrian Suplexes, picking up the win to bounce back after the controversial loss against his long time rival Devin Hearst. WINNER: Tank Steiner BY: Pinfall (Der große Kaboom), 9:19 |
The camera picks up on Kaia Granger pacing backstage. Dressed to the nines, the stunning manager of Asher Miles is walking alone, her destination unknown. As she turns the corner, however, her march comes to a sudden end.
Donovan Keane:
Where is he?
Leaning against the wall right behind the corner, the Nightfall Rising member thunders with a deep tone of voice, startling Kaia. She’s puzzled and quite frankly surprised as she gathers herself from the sudden appearance.
Kaia Grainger:
Oh Donovan, relax.
She gestures perhaps not taking his overly thunderous voice as serious as she should, delusion? Maybe. Quickly she takes a step back to encourage a little separation however as she regathers her composure.
Kaia Grainger:
I thought it was me you were trying to hurt this time around anyways, isn’t that what you said?
Donovan shrugs his shoulders:
Donovan Keane:
Maybe I will…
He takes a step toward her, a threatening look on his face as he cracks his knuckles, trying to intimidate the young woman.
Donovan Keane:
I mean, that’s what he would do right? He put my best friend and my brother in the hospital, and he would have done the same with Leia. They had nothing to do with this, Kaia, and he didn’t hesitate to injure them to get to me. They were innocent…
Donovan tilts his head, looking at her sideways.
Donovan Keane:
Can we say the same about you? Are you innocent? Or are you just as guilty as he is?
She equally returns his intense gaze though obviously a little more apprehensive due to the directness of the confrontation and obviously being towered over, intimidatingly so. She takes a moment to think about her response.
Kaia Grainger:
Innocence is rather subjective, Donovan. Am I complicit, yes, but only of doing my job to get him here. Not for the actions he’s taken and I’ve said that multiple times. I’m just not going to turn my back on him and if that makes me a guilty party then I suppose I am. I’m not exactly thrilled that your friends and family were hurt the way that they were.
Clearly showing she has more of a conscience she stopped to lick her lips before continuing.
Kaia Grainger:
But I can’t change that. Maybe, if you two wouldn’t have taken such shall we say drastic measures to end up at this point events would’ve played out differently. Who's to blame isn’t for me to decide. I bring light, I reveal truths, but I do not discern actions.
A moment of silence follows her words, Donnie stares right in her eyes for what seems like an eternity before bursting out laughing.
Donovan Keane:
You got a way with words, I give you that… You’re smart, which makes me wonder why the hell you didn’t run away yet.
He shakes his head.
Donovan Keane:
You can’t bring the light to someone who’s heart is as dark as night. You see what he did to Jay, you know what he did to Iggy. You were fucking there where he said fuck all to the match and tried to end Leia’s career. You could have stopped him, you could have told him that he was crossing the line!
Keane clenches his fists in rage, the tone in his voice growing darker, more angry.
Donovan Keane:
But you didn’t, Kaia. I don’t know why but you let him do the horrible things he did to them… Now give me a reason why I shouldn’t drop you down right here, right now.
She is obviously highly aware of his growing rage and yet her face turns serene in the moment, almost calm as she is clearly readying herself for whatever might come of this next.
Kaia Grainger:
Do whatever you like to me Donovan, I accept responsibility. You may think of me as Asher’s guardian but I no more have control over him than Leia has had over you when you’ve decided an action is suited to your liking. Even the numerous times I myself have tried to elude a confrontation between the two of you have ended in disaster for me, you’re entitled to think i’m not tryin hard enough and you may think I haven’t try to curb his methodology but you’d be wrong.
She paused indirectly bracing herself if need be.
Kaia Grainger:
I don’t know how many times I need to make it clear that this isn’t my fight and yet somehow I still end up here. You may think it's because I don’t care, but it's because I do. . . as to the reason for my staying. Because, I don’t want to see either of you end up any more hurt than you already have been but even I know that wish is one that is too late to be granted. So do what you feel you must. As I stated already, I don’t discern people’s actions, but you know as well as I do that this only ends one way. You both can continually have everyone close to you be hurt, or you can solve it where it needs to be. So you want to find him? Fine, we can do that together.
She trails off slightly.
Kaia Grainger:
Or you do whatever you feel you have to. Drop me, take me out, but then don’t try and speak to me again about him having a heart of night, as yours would be going to a place equally as void.
Her words don’t seem to affect the young man as he pulls his arm back, ready to strike. Kaia holds his gaze, true to her words and willing to accept whatever her fate would be. And that’s when Donnie drops his arm, walking past her and bumping his shoulder against her and causing her to fall sitting on the floor. He then leaves from the same direction she came from.
Donovan Keane:
Tell Asher that next time, I will not show the same mercy. I have a match to get ready for now.
Kaia pulled herself up, but by the time she did Donnie had already disappeared.
Tag Team Match
Nightfall Rising VS FabulousThe long awaited return to in-ring competition after the injuries suffered at the hands of Asher Miles didn’t go the way the Vegas boys had planned. It didn’t actually go anywhere as the Antares welcomed his longtime rival back to MWE with a chair shot to the back of the head, taking him out right there on the ramp, before he could even make his way to the ring. One single shot brought with such force that busted his head open, painting his brown hair a dark shade of red. As his partner was laying on the cold steel ramp, a possible retaliation from the threatening words Donnie shared with Kaia Granger, Jay quickly turned around to avenge his fallen brother in arms, but as he did so, Asher was already in the wind. Male Voice:
“The following parody is paid for by...well...we’re not entirely sure, but whoever is responsible for this crap should be fired…”
The scene fades in to a blue backdrop. We see Kimberly Williams, HKW Bloodlust Champion, in the center amongst many other versions of herself. Exact duplicates. Clones? No. Not that. Just a computer generated likeness for the purposes of this video. They are all dancing but it is Kimberly (the real one) who is in the center with a microphone in hand, singing along to the lyrics of the infamous Chicago Bears Super Bowl shuffle parody song.
Kimberly Williams:
We are the Kimberly shufflin’ crew!
Shufflin’ on down, doin it for you!
We’re so bad, we know we’re good!
Winnin’ the Chicago Way Title, like we knew we would!
You know we’re just struttin’ for fun, struttin’ for everyone,
We’re not here to start no trouble,
We’re just here to do the Chicago Way Shuffle!
One of the CGI clones steps up to the microphone stand. She is wearing a Chicago Bears uniform, complete with pads and all!
Kimberly Williams:
They call me Scorned and I like to fight
Jacob Hammerstein thinks he got this in sight
But winnin’ gold is my delight and natural right
To be Chicago Way Champ, I make my own play
And Hammerstein is nothin’ but an obstacle in my way
Kimmy didn’t come here lookin’ for trouble
Kimmy came here to do the Chicago Way Shuffle!
The dancing from these CGI Kim clones continues. Then one of the CGI Kim clones step up to the microphone though this one has black hair, representing her darker times, when she was truly a monster…
Kimberly Williams:
Joey LeClair wants to see who’s the best of the violence
But I don’t keep anyone in suspense
The answer is me, The Woman Scorned, your Bloodlust Champ-een
I’ll take those light tubes and gouge out your spleen
I’m The Woman Scorned and I DID come here lookin’ for trouble
Because I damn sure came to do the Chicago Way Shuffle
The dancing continues but the music slowly but surely dies down. As the music dies down, the CGI clones fade away. Eventually we are just left with the one true Kimberly Williams standing there in front of the camera with a sadistic smirk upon her lovely face.
Kimberly Williams:
Ok, so I admit, I am not the best singer of them all...but I did beat my sister in a karaoke sing off! Not that it matters though. Anyway, point is I am a woman of many talents. But the best talent of them all is my ability to be sadistic. I can take more punishment than anyone in this damn company. And yes, I can dish out more punishment than anyone in this company. Sure, I may look like a fun loving clown with my social media games and parody skits like this one. But if you think that is all there is to The Woman Scorned then you are dead wrong and you have truly fallen for my trap.
Williams points into her eyes.
Kimberly Williams:
Joey, Jacob, I want you two to look into my eyes. Look into these eyes because these aren’t the eyes of a playful clown. These are the eyes of a sadist. These are the eyes of a monster. Look into these eyes and know that tonight you can kiss your ass...and the Chicago Way Championship...goodbye…
Kimberly turns and walks off.
Triple Threat Match
Brien Storm VS Henri Black VS Christina ZdunichHenri’s mind seemed to be still on that Riot championship he failed to capture at By Any Means at least in the opening moments of the match. After Henri unleashed his rage and frustration on Crystal with a volley of stiff shots while Brien Storm called himself out of action, The Captain sneaked back in and removed, at least momentarily, the Blackstar from the equation surprising and sending him over the top rope with a superkick as he was punching Christina back in the corner. Always the opportunist, Your Favorite Worst Nightmare was quick to capitalize on Henri’s initial assault and took on the already stunned Zdunich, wearing her further out with a couple of kicks to the chest before lifting her over his shoulders and dropping her on the mat with the Unforecasted Storm. He rushed into a cover, looking to steal one quickly but he counted out Black too soon, the former Revenant sliding back in and breaking up the pinfall with an elbow drop to Brien’s back. With Christina now recovering on the outside, Henri and Brien were left squabbling in the middle of the ring. The Blackstar's aggression remained unchanged, forcing Storm on the defense. Nothing too fancy, Henri mostly relied on direct shots, predominantly swift and precise kicks but not disdaining some suplexes here and there. Storm, on the other end, did everything in his power to turn the tables, and that included any possible shortcuts he could think of. An eye rake gave him a little of a break he used to drop Henri on the mat with a neckbreaker. After catching his breath, he went to pick Henri up and lift him in a suplex position, dropping him back chest first on the canvas in front of him. As Black was pushing himself up, Brien charged at the ropes to connect perhaps a bulldog, but Crystal grabbed his ankle and caused him to trip over and land on his face, before she climbed on the apron and jumped on the top rope to launch herself inside the ring, connecting a springboard bulldog on the Blackstar. She tried to win the match with a quick cover but Henri easily kicked out in two. The pace of the match picked up now that Lopez gained control, using her speed to keep both opponents at bay. A Flashing Lights took down Brien Storm who wisely rolled under the bottom rope to avoid getting pinned, which left Christina and Henri alone to battle it out in the final moments of the match. The multi time world champion almost scored what many would consider an upset when she made the cover on Henri after the Rock & Roll swinging snap ddt, but the Riot star somehow managed to kick out before the three. Getting up to his feet, he was still stunned, wobbling on his feet as Christina took a dash at the ropes to hit her next move. Behind his shoulders, Brien entered the ring once again, and this didn’t go unnoticed with Henri who took a step forward, anticipating whatever Christina had planned and flipped her over his head instead, causing her to land on Brien and take him out in the process. His quick thinking turned the tides for Henri Black, who smelled the opportunity to obtain the win he needed to put himself back on the right track. A Black Diamond knee to Brien’s face to make sure the Favorite Worst Nightmare was in no condition to interrupt him while he pinned Crystal after the Black Sacrament. WINNER: Henri Black BY: Pinfall (Black Sacrament), 11:43 |

Helena Noir VS Freddie HjalmarIf it wasn’t for the colossal main event, this would have been hands down the match of the night. A beautiful contest from top to bottom between the Liberty Champion Helena Noir and the Underground Tornado Tag Champion, started with an intense exchange of hard strikes in the middle of the ring. You’d think Freddie would easily have the advantage on the more technical Helena, but she was holding her own, taking his blows and fighting back with equal intensity, None of them was giving up an inch, their strikes only growing in force as they tried to one-up one another. Hjalmar with a jumping knee sent Helena back against the ropes, the tattooed woman rebounded back with a discus forearm that rocked the Promised. She then hit him with a few chops to the chest, leaving red bruises covering his princely pecs. Helena grabbed his wrist and went for an irish whip, countered by the second generation wrestler who then fell victim to Helena's slingblade. The Revenant gave him no break, hitting several stomps before making a first cover attempt for an easy kick out by the swedish-canadian superstar. She then took a step back, taunting hm to get up to his feet and then swinging her leg for a roundhouse kick, ducked by the Prince Of Thorns who then was quick to wrap his arms around Helena’s waist and hit a snap german suplex. Freddie used his speed and agility to remain in control. This strategy was working out just fine, a springboard leg lariat knocked Helena down and forced her to a difficult kick out after Freddie made the cover and, why not?, used the ropes as leverage in an attempt to keep her down. Hjalmar complained with the official, telling him to learn to do his job and that if Terry was in his place, this would have been a three. Turning his back to Helena was a mistake he quickly came to regret. Noir jumped with her knees on his back and took him down with a backstabber, immediately switching into a rear naked choke trying to submit the blonde man. In clear difficulty, Hjalmar was gasping for air, trying in vain to get away from Noir’s tight grip. The more he tried to wriggle out the harder she squeezed the air out of him, to the point where it looked like Freddie was going to pass out. And then, with a last boost of energy, he bridged backwards, pinning her shoulders to the mat and forcing her to let him go. Wosely, he rolled out of the ring as soon as she let him go, buying himself some time to recover. After a quick brawl on the outside where Helena showed all her expertise in using the surrounding environment to inflict damage to the second generation superstar, the match returned inside the ring with Noir once again keeping the opponent down with neck holds and chokes. Unable to wrestle the match he had set out to do, Freddie was beginning to show signs of frustration as he struggled to earn back the vertical position. Helena was always one step ahead, her technical prowess on full display tonight as she looked in full control. But the resourceful Underground superstar managed to get to the ropes and break the submission. Helena let him go but immediately went back on the attack looking to capitalize on the momentum. Freddie bought himself some time by grabbing the ref's shirt and using him as a shield, pulling him between himself and Helena. The Liberty champion stopped herself before hitting the official, who covered his face in fear to get hit by Noir’s elbow. Freddie was quick to blind her with a thumb to the eyes, pushing the ref aside to knock Helena down with the spinning roundhouse kick. After a wonderful springboard moonsault, Hjalmar made the cover to obtain a count of two. More followed as Freddie was finally able to impose a quicker pace to the match, even forcing Helena to catch a breath on the outside. But not even there was safe for the Liberty Champion, caught with a suicide dive ddt by the Promised. As the match went back inside the ropes, Freddie waited for Helena to rise back to her feet and charged at her for The Thorn but the tattooed woman dodged the bicycle knee strike at the last moment, planting Hjalmar with a reverse ddt. Freddie tried to roll under the bottom rope, but this time Helena didn’t allow him, grabbing him by his feet and dragging him back in the middle of the ring. He kicked her away, and this time she couldn’t avoid the referee. Luckily the impact didn’t seem to hurt the official too much, but it still gave Freddie the opportunity to use one of the many tricks he was known to pull. As Helena went to pick him up, he blasted her on the head with what looked like a thin sceptre, quickly rolling her up with a cradle after throwing the object away from the referee's sight, just in time for him to count the decisive three. WINNER: Freddie Hjalmar BY: Pinfall (Inside Cradle), 15:33 |
The camera pans backstage where it rolls into Joey Leclair’s locker room where he is seen taping up his wrist preparing for his match.
Joey Leclair:
Since arriving here in Millennium I have destroyed everyone in my path, and everyone with a brain knew that it was only a matter of time until I won a championship, and while it was a fun ride? It’s time to move into the next chapter, because I finally have a purpose.
Joey finishes taping his wrist, and stands up facing the camera.
Joey Leclair:
I know, I know! Your probably asking the l question right now, but Joey are you saying that you didn’t like everything you’ve accomplished so far? By saying you have a purpose are you saying that being a champion is pointless to you?, are you disappointed in yourself up to this point?!
Joey rotates his head around getting out the kinks in his neck.
Joey Leclair:
That’s not what I’m saying at all, because if I wasn’t proud of all the bodies I’ve left broken on my path so far? Then I would not be powerful, and I would not be your Chicago Way Champion, but instead what I’m saying is that the journey so far has all been fun so far, but starting tonight? If you thought I was dangerous before hand when I would just toy with my opponents? Then imagine when I start getting serious.
Joey let’s a sly smirk cross his lips.
Joey Leclair:
Tonight I defend my Chicago Way Championship against Hammerstein, and Kimberly Williams in a light tubes match, and I’m not going to lie this will be my biggest match to date, because Hammerstein is a former Chicago Way Champion, and Kimberly is one of the craziest bitches in the game, but regardless when the dust settles? I will still remain your a Chicago Way Champion, and I’m gonna tell you why.
Joey pauses for a moment cracking his knuckles.
Joey Leclair:
Hammerstein even though we have never met face to face for faces off in a ring before? We have history, because turn back time a couple years to a Fed In Mexico? You was at the top of the game at this point, and I walked in unprepared, and quickly walked away, but now fast forward to today? I am at the top of my game making a name for myself dominating everyone while you are busy losing your championship, and getting tossed to the curve by A.P.E.
Joey shakes his head in disappointment.
Joey Leclair:
Oh how the mighty has fallen, and I swear that your luck will not change tonight, because I refuse to lose to someone who’s career is spiraling downward with no direction, and besides I beat the woman who tried for so long to dethrone you so I kinda owe her the honors of keeping your filthy hands off this championship as long as I am champion.
Joey gets a serious look on his face.
Joey Leclair:
Then we have Kimberly Williams the true threat in this match, and I know we have never met either, but I know you are a crazy sadistic bitch who cannot be underestimated, and your very intelligent to compliment your violence which I why I like you because we are cut after the same cloth which means that tonight is going to be a very long chaotic night.
Joey holds his arms outstretched to his sides and opens his hands.
Joey Leclair:
So Hammerstein, and Kimberly I look forward to joking the both of you in the ring for a deadly dance, and you both will learn why I am not only the Death Dealer, but why I am the prodigy of Millennium. There will be chaos tonight, but it will be controlled when I stomp you both under my feet as victims of another title defense.
Suddenly Joeys phone starts ringing, and he reaches in his pocket pulling it out looking to see who’s calling, and gets a smirk on his face.
Joey Leclair:
Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve gotta take this call it’s rather important.
Joey motions for the camera man to leave as the scene ends.
Chicago Way Championship Match
Triple Threat Light Tubes Match
Joey Leclair VS Jacob Hammerstein VS Kimberly WilliamsTriple Threat Light Tubes Match
Two sides of the ring were covered in light tubes, more were scattered on the floor outside. Peyton on commentary emphasized how dangerous this match was for the three people involved, with one single light tube potentially causing a serious injury that would take them out of the match. This was something the champion was definitely keeping into account as the look of concern on his face while he walked the ramp testified. Moreso after giving a look at his opponent, two superstars with a flair for violence and a reckless attitude like the former Chicago Way Champion Hammerstein and the current Underground Bloodlust Champion Kimberly Williams. Jacob especially seemed to be out for blood, charging at Kim and taking her down with a shoulder tackle before quickly turning around to block Joey’s punch with his arm, kicking him on the stomach and whipping him in the corner, where he squashed him with a big splash. Williams was already back to her feet and running toward the opponents for a double knee in the corner that was aiming at Hammerstein’s back, but it found its target in Leclair’s face as the American Monster sidestepped. Two minutes and forty-three seconds. That’s how long it took before blood was spilled, and the champion was the first victim of the tubes. After getting rid of Kim with a headbutt, Hammerstein picked up Joey from the mat and literally threw him through the tubes and on the outside. His back, as he rolled in agony on the outside, had shards of glass sticking out of the skin and blood trickling from the open wounds. Inside the ring, Kimberly charged at Hammerstein with a volley of kicks and elbows, knocking him down. She then left the ring and grabbed a couple of tubes from the floor, sliding back in and breaking one on Hammy’s back as he was getting up. With the former champion on his knees, Kimberly hit him with a kick to the chest, carefully placing the remaining tubes against it before hitting him with a second kick, causing them to explode on Hammerstein’s pecs. Uncaring for the blood gushing from the cuts, Williams made the cover but Joey broke up the pin just in time to save his reign. Though they were the predominant weapon of choice, light tubes weren’t the only object used in this contest. Chairs came into play as well, used both in a creative way to set up a bridge made of tubes by Joey to powerbomb Kimberly onto and in the traditional way with Hammerstein driving one on Leclair’s skull. The champion was down, Kimberly wasn’t moving, laying in a pool of blood and broken glass and Hammerstein had a great opportunity to become the first two time Chicago Way Champion. He picked up Joey and dropped him down with his Hammersteiner, “You gotta be f…. kidding me!” Exclaimed Peyton Holland, barely avoiding the expletive as Joey, somehow, kicked out before the three. After a legitimate and understandable moment of shock, Hammerstein left the ring and began hoarding as many light tubes as he could get his hands on, carefully pushing them inside the ring. Whatever he had in mind, it didn’t look good for any of his already battered opponents. Finally satisfied with the arsenal at his disposal, The American Monster was ready to get back inside the ring and end this contest, when he got blindsided by Duke Andrews. The member of APE clearly wasn’t done yet with the man who left their group, the traitor. The clothesline to the back knocked Hammerstein on his feet, but it was the handful of tubes smashed on his head that really did a number on Jacob, turning his face in a crimson mask as he began bleeding copiously from the multiple lacerations. After throwing some insults his way, Duke rolled him back in the ring watching with a satisfied smirk as Kimberly prepared herself to finish him with her Shadowblade running knee. Her run was abruptly stopped by Joey who swung a light tube to her chest before she could hit Hammerstein who was now slowly getting up to his feet. The champion then turned around and hit him with the Death Dealer Elbow, picking up the win and adding another defense to his growing list. WINNER: Joey Leclair (STILL CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Death Dealer Elbow), 10:41 |
Inside the American Pain Experience locker room we find the Millenium Pro Tag Team Champions, well the two defending their titles since APE goes by freebird rules, the Lonestar Icon Alan Envy and the Redd Thunder getting ready for the main event. Beer kegs are set up for the after party that was paid for by Chris Constatine Jr and planned by Duke Andrew's. The camera focuses on Redd Thunder who is doing curls with a full of beer keg with ease showing his incredible strength. Alan is drinking a glass of wine because he is class personified. Envy is standing there watching the Big Fat Lucha curling the keg.
Alan Envy:
Look at the power, you've seen the speed. He's a walking weapon! This is the personification of the American Pain Experience! Dominance...power, intelligence.
Envy slaps the big man on the chest numerous times leaving a red mark as Redd continues crushing those curls.
Alan Envy:
Tonight in the main event every Millenium championship is on the line. The one thing I can promise you is the tag team titles are going nowhere, and the plan is to bring home the World Heavyweight Championship back to where it belongs! So each and everyone of you people that got their eyes glued to the screen are looking at one of the men that walks out a double champion. So whether it's the finest pro wrestler alive in the Lonestar Icon Alan Envy, or the most powerful individual force in this business REDD Thunder, you're looking at the next champ, and that's not a prediction….it's a spoiler.
REDD grunts as he does a few more curls then slams the heavy keg to the ground. He stares into the camera and lets out a monsterish style scream into the camera. Envy toasts his glass of wine and takes a sip.
Alan Envy:
You want to know the keys to our success? Because there is no selfishness in APE. Duke Andrews, Chris Constatine Jr, Redd Thunder, Alan Envy we are one. We are APE, and that's why we are the dominant brand in professional wrestling. I won't care if Redd becomes world champion, and he doesnt if I do. And that's why we come out on top tonight, because no one else in this match can say the same thing. Everyone in that ring is blinded by individual success, hell...all of us have had plenty of individual success. But together we are having the most success. So get ready ladies and gentlemen, you've been warned, and just remember….we are better than you.
Redd goes back to curling the full beer keg as the shot cuts slowly back to the ring.
Cloud Gate Championship Match
Melissa Reeves (c) VS Kate SteeleThe first defense for Melissa Reeves against the former Lockdown Champion Kate Steele started with the challenger forcing the Cloud Gate champion in the corner with an overly aggressive start that earned her a warning from the referee when she refused to give the cornered champion a break. Steele grabbed Mel’s hand to send her in the opposite corner but the champion reversed and charged right behind her challenger. Up and over went Kate, landing behind Melissa’s shoulder and dropkicking her in into the corner as she turned around. Then came a monkey flip, bringing Reeves back in the middle of the ring where she was pinned by Kate after a double foot stomp to the chest. The champ raised her shoulder right after the two, but she couldn’t catch a break as Kate was right back on the attack with a series of knife edge chops setting up for a snap suplex that earned her a second near fall. The talent and experience of a world class athlete like Melissa Reeves allowed the champion to find an opening in Kate’s offense to counterattack with a jawbreaker that left the challenger stunned and open to that volley of swift kicks, a fundamental part of Mel’s arsenal. As were the array of DDTs that came after that, dropping Steele on her head and allowing the Reaver to collect near fall after near fall. She knew she had Kate in the corner and kept the pressure on, dropping her to the mat with the Reaver Slam, for another count of two. Steele had a short comeback, nailing Mel with a german suplex and following with a corner Yakuza kick. The former Lockdown champion then climbed to the top rope for her Silence Is Golden but Mel intercepted her with a jumping punch that caught her on the jaw and left her sitting on the top rope. Reeves climbed up as well, giving another display of her skills with a perfect superplex, but it still wasn’t enough to keep Kate down. The Facial Deconstructor at the end of a swift striking combination instead was what she needed to secure the win and her first successful defense. WINNER: Melissa Reeves (STILL CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Facial Deconstructor), Time) 8:33 |
The mood of an area is often determined by its inhabitants at any point in time. The best way to describe the locker room right now is a layered cake of tension because the only person there happens to be one of the two briefcase holders in Seth Iser. He’s dressed in his ring attire since he is scheduled to fight tonight, a black and purple variant of his attire in the color combination that is his most classic look. His left hand has a new white cast and there is not one but two briefcases near him. One to symbolize his victory in FGA and the other is one of the two briefcases that were awarded in Millennium.
Seth Iser:
I find myself in a different situation than most. Because, I can’t tell a lie, I did what I needed to one more time. I find myself in a situation where I’m just one match away from being a World Champion here and breaking a drought that’s gone on...far too long. But when your head and your heart disagree about something...no matter your age, your perspective, or experience, it’s something that you need to find a way to resolve. Why is that you ask?
He lets that question hang for a couple of seconds and the elder statesman of professional wrestling just puts on that sneer.
Seth Iser:
Because neither Neal nor I were capable of beating the other in that third fall. And there’s a second briefcase that’s awarded. And it makes the waters even more treacherous for...everyone here that there are two people holding the pen to write a veto or change anything they damn well please. It isn’t the worst thing for either of us after a night’s work. Hell, my brain is telling me...I have everything I need right here. But my heart is just that little bit unsatisfied since Neal and I didn’t conclude with a true winner. And it’s an issue we need to settle. But as much as I don’t have ALL the time in the world, there’s still more than enough time for us to resolve that dispute...and I can take a bit of pride in that when it comes to traditional wrestling matches...I still have the edge over him.
And with that Seth reaches behind his chair and pulls out the burnt remains of his previous cast that are behind him. It is charred and barely salvaged to be shown on TV but it is impossible to wear anymore.
Seth Iser:
But I owe him a receipt for this as well. He set me, and by extension my cast on fire! And fire isn’t something you’re supposed to play with too many times…
And then there’s a half chuckle as Seth realizes a bit of irony.
Seth Iser:
Though as much as I want to continue on that topic...there’s too many other things looming...why did I do what I did with the briefcase night two being one of those things...
He uses that opportunity to grab the Millennium briefcase next to him and put it more in front of him rather than toward the side.
Seth Iser:
Other than I wondered how specific you can get with that little detail...and that was part of a little science experiment, and part well...look at the climate of the company right now. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have somebody watching your back when the time comes for it. And with how wrestling is today...who better than someone looking to make their own name mean something more than what they had previously, right? Someone looking to have their own legacy and do things their own way. That’s a trait this young woman has in common with me.
There’s a semblance of a smirk as Seth stands up on his chair but he puts one eye off the camera as if he’s looking at someone coming in.
Seth Iser:
So you can hear it from me...but I think it’d mean more coming from her. The MWE Intercontinental Champion...Megan Monroe.
With that introduction Seth takes one slight step to the side to allow the champion he just mentioned to come on. Megan Monroe soon stood next to the taller Seth Iser, the Intercontinental Championship strapped across her shoulder. She was already dressed down in her pink ring gear, ready for her upcoming match with Keelan Jayce, a man who had been on fire as of late. Meg looked up at Seth before giving him a nod and then she glanced over to the camera.
Megan Monroe:
You hit the nail on the head there, Seth, on many points, in fact. It is nice to have someone there to watch your back. But the key to that is that you want someone reliable. You? You’re one of the most experienced, if not the MOST experienced competitor here in Millennium. While you did put an end to my mentor’s career by beating her in a loser leaves town match in In Your House, that still has nothing to do with me. Blyss Lockhart chose that path but me? I choose the path that is best for me, which is to align myself with you and thanks to that? I still have this.
Monroe looked down at her Intercontinental Championship as she tapped it with her opposite hand, with a smirk rolling across her face.
Megan Monroe:
You see, I’m a student of the game. I watched Seth align himself with others at In Your House and do you know what he did? He ran roughshod over the entire roster. Why did that happen? Because he formed a partnership with like-minded wrestlers like himself. Ones who are cutthroat and will do whatever it takes to get to the top. Seth and I are similar in that but I still know I have more to learn. While I may be the Intercontinental Champion, which puts me head and shoulders above the majority of you heathens, my ego still isn’t big enough to where I don’t want to keep learning and perfecting my craft. So, why wouldn’t I want to do that with the guy who is head and shoulders above the rest? I will build my legacy as Megan Monroe, I will leave behind the past and those who held me back and I will decimate and destroy anyone who gets in my way…
Meg paused as she gave a reassuring tap on the shoulder of Seth Iser.
Megan Monroe:
And whoever gets in Seth’s way. We can’t and won’t be stopped and we will set an example tonight when we destroy Keelan Jayce and Sophie O’Brian. That’s not a bunch of hyperbole either, it’s simple the facts.
Megan finished her rant and then looked up at her newly formed partner with a smile, giving him a nod to chime in.
Seth Iser:
Keelan... You thought I didn’t give a damn about your condition in the heat of the battle? What’s Megan going to do to you with championship gold on the line? She’s younger and more imaginative about finding ways to punish you than me. Hell, she might even make you wish you were in the cage with me when I was trying to rip open your wound. That’s on top of learning some things from Blyss and now starting to learn the tricks Blyss learned...from me. And Sophie?
With that there’s a smirk etched on his face.
Seth Iser:
All the tricks of the trade you know. That’s your biggest advantage. You know almost as many as me, admittedly. But you don’t have that advantage in this little game of ours. To say I’m agitated about not being the only briefcase holder is an understatement and I’m not going to fall into any of your traps and get caught and make our situation worse here. But maybe you can learn from Megan over here actually...it is sometimes better to distance yourself from family, your ‘friends’ that you’re often compared to. That whole nine yards. Because in the end...even if there are obvious benefits to back up...you need to stand on your own two feet. Away from the shadow someone might have that can poison you. And someone who as great as they are technically...you’re still poisoned. I have a DDT. It IS the ultimate poison. You don’t stand a chance against someone like me at the end of the day.
With that speech concluded the two of them glare at the camera to leave considering there are other preparations that may need to be made at the last second and it fades from this as the camera man is literally tip-toeing away.
Backstage in the dressing room of Total War, the entity made up of Sophie O’Brian and her older and perhaps dumber brother Mark O’Brian, we spot the Northern Irish siblings being greeted by a visitor. This visitor is a friendly face, because it is their best friend and closest ally; the new MWE Riot Champion and self-proclaimed Best in the World Glory Braddock. We join in as they are in deep conversation about tonight.
Mark O’Brian:
Gotta give ya credit, Glory. Ya whipped that bloke’s ass five times over to nick that championship!
Sophie smacks Mark in the back of his head.
Mark O’Brian:
OW! What was that for?!
Sophie O’Brian:
She did not beat Henri five times you blithering idiot!
The British Bombshell cannot help but chuckle at her always bickering friends. They may argue a great deal but Sophie and Mark would fight to the death for one another and for Glory as well. This trio are as close as close can be.
Glory Braddock:
It’s ok, Sophie. I know what Mark meant. And yes, while I did beat Henri twice...on night one and night two...in order to become MWE Riot Champion, I also have to admit that he put me in that situation by beating me back to back, in a last man standing match and in my own match, the submissions match. We may not agree on much but he earned my respect in this series.
Sophie smirks.
Sophie O’Brian:
That’s quite big of you, love.
Glory Braddock:
Just stating a fact. He was good, but I was better. It’s too bad you were unable to become Intercontinental Champion.
Sophie growls under her breath. The controversial circumstances surrounding that match still eat away at her.
Sophie O’Brian:
Yes...and there will most definitely be a next time. All Megan managed to prove was that she cannot win a damn match on her own. All she proved was that she needs help from others to get the job done. Championship or no championship, I can rest easy knowing that I am better than her because I can beat anyone on any day without help.
Glory Braddock
But you DO have help. You may not have used them at By Any Means but you do have help. Mark is always by your side. And of course you have me and the Glorious Golden Era. You recall I told you that if you ever need our help just let me know and we will back you up. Had we been there that night, then between the GGE and Mark, we would have crippled Seth Iser, leaving you free to finish off Megan on your own.
Sophie is silent for several moments as she stops to ponder the words Glory just spoke.
Sophie O’Brian:
You raise valid points, my good friend. And perhaps one day I shall take you up on that offer. A good general never takes his options off the table.
Glory Braddock
Think about it, mate.
Braddock turns and makes her exit, leaving Mark and Sophie alone.
Mark O’Brian:
She’s right, ya know?
Sophie O’Brian:
It’s been seventy five years since the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Mark is left thoroughly confused.
Mark O’Brian:
Huh?!
Sophie O’Brian:
The atomic bomb was a last resort. Yes, it was utilized, but it was a last resort. I have more allies behind me than anyone else in this bloody company. I have more resources at my disposal than anyone else. The outcome is already written in the stars, dear brother. I will get what I want and Seth Iser and his privileges cannot stop me. It is destiny and no one can stop destiny. It’s just a matter of how we get there and if using the atomic bomb is necessary to get to my end game then yes, I will use it. I will not hesitate to destroy innocent lives, dear brother.
Singles Match
Sophie O'Brian VS Seth IserDespite his newly established alliance with the Intercontinental champion, Seth Iser walked out to this match alone, ready to take on the person he basically screwed out of her IC championship opportunity at By Any Means. Sophie wasted no time, assaulting the big man before the bell could even ring. Seth took the early punishment and delivered just as much, firing back with his stiff strikes that caused O'Brian to recoil. With a violent irish whip he sent the Belfast born in the corner, following up with a corner splash and getting met by Sophie’s boot to the face. She climbed on the middle rope and jumped driving down both hands on Seth’s skull with a double axe handle. Sophie stayed on the attack, first with a few stomps to the recently injured hand and then with a hold targeting the joints and fingers of said hand. Challenging Seth on the technical aspect of the game probably wasnìt the brightest idea Sophie could think of, the former FGA Pride Champion was known for his knowledge of holds and reversals and lived up to his fame, bending Sophie’s arm behind her back and lifting her for a hammerlock suplex. The contest went on alternating brawling phases to long periods where the two wrestlers slowed down the pace and tried to outwrestle the opponent on the mat. Clearly, this became a battle of pride between two people with a high opinion of themselves, and the track record to back it up. With none of them really prevailing on the other, they both had the chance to shine. Seth pulled out some of the high impact moves in his arsenal, such as a pendulum backbreaker and the Pillar Of Truth (Bossman Slam). Sophie on the other hand, resorted to his quickness to create some problems to the big man, rocking him with an enziguri kick and planting him on his head with a rare diving tornado ddt from the top rope.Iser kicked out in two and got quickly back to his feet, grunting at Sophie and inviting her to strike again, She did, with a right punch straight to the jaw but Seth barely felt it. She did, instead, feel the ribcage shattering open hand chop the giant of a man delivered next, She was catching her breath, but he didn’t give her the chance, lifting her upside down and drilling her into the canvas with a brainbuster. Sophie kicked out in two. The match quickly marched toward its conclusion without dropping a bit of intensity. Despite the size and power advantage clearly on Seth’s side, O’Brian wasn’t backing down from the fight. answering punch for punch and even connecting the Death Of Wisdom. Her variation of the codebreaker seemed not as effective on the big man, who easily kicked out in two. During a particularly intense exchange, the referee got caught by an involuntary back hand by Sophie. The saying “Great minds think alike” is the perfect way to describe what happened next. Wrestling’s Greatest Mind and one of the finest strategists in the business wasted no time to exploit the momentary absence of the official, both of them coming up with the same idea to finally win the opponent’s strenuous resilience. If Sophie had accustomed the MWE fans to what she calls the Scorched Earth Policy, Iser proved a certain familiarity with fire, spitting out a fireball of his own. Seth was just slightly faster, serving O'Brian a taste of her own medicine and stunning her for as long as he needed to plant her with the Deprivation DDT, obtaining another big win. WINNER: Seth Iser BY: Pinfall (Deprivation DDT), 14:10 |
Hammerstein:
DUKE ANDREWS!
Trainers and MWE officials attempt to calm Hammerstein down, but the former Chicago Way Champion is having none of it.
Hammerstein:
YOU SONOFABITCH!
Hammerstein shoved an official away from him and throws a chair across the trainer's area. Officials scurry, trying to escape the rampage. As quickly as it starts, the event stops as Hammerstein stops and looks into the camera, as if he just noticed its presence. He sticks out his tongue, catching some of the blood that drips off the tip of his nose, a cracks a devious smile.
Hammerstein:
Make no mistake, Duke. I'm pissed that you cost me my chance at The Chicago Way Championship. I had set my beef with APE to the side for one night, for this one match, to do something as a tribute to a friend. I was gonna win that title for Reese, but you went and fucked that up for me.
Hammerstein spits blood from his mouth as he sits down. A trainer comes over to begin stitching him up.
Hammerstein:
But I really ought to thank you, Redd, Al, and Chris. I ought to thank you, because what you've done tonight confirmed to me that there's no taking the high road with you bastards. I don't have to try to be the "good guy" in all this anymore...and, I tell ya, that's a very liberating feeling.
Hammerstein winces as the trainer runs the needle through his bloody flesh.
Hammerstein:
So, unencumbered by the weight of being the hero, I get to push aside my better angels, and become again the one thing that I let go dormant to be a part of the crew.
Hammerstein stands up and shoves the trainer away. He looks into the camera, the needle hanging from the incomplete suture job, and smiles dementedly into the camera.
Hammerstein:
The American Monster is back, boys….
Did you miss me?
MWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Megan Monroe (c) VS Keelan JayceYou have to wonder if Keelan Jayce was concerned about Megan’s recent alliance with Seth Iser, and if that affected the beginning of the match. It was all Megan in the early minutes, the IC champion coming out strong with a series of stiff kicks to the chest and sides of the Australian. She ended this vicious sequence with a crane kick, knocking him down and making the first pinfall attempt of the match, which obviously wasn’t enough to keep Jayce down. She kept kicking him even when he was on the mat, or trying to pick himself up, A curb stomp squashed him back down on the canvas, prompting a second pinning predicament from Monroe, once again resulting in just a count of two. The dominant start gave the already self-assured champion a further boost of confidence. Cockily she taunted the opponent, inviting him to get up to his feet. He did, slowly getting on his knees and then Megan delivered a series of shoot kicks to the chest. Her movements, the position of her body… Everything looked quite familiar to the MWE fans watching, If anyone still had any doubt, the following superkick to the face was the final proof they needed. Everything in this sequence screamed Tiff Rollins, but knowing the history between them this was meant more as a mocking rather than a tribute to the former record breaking Cloud Gate champion. Her version of the Death Kick though didn’t find the target, as Keelan Jayce dodged it and rolled her on her shoulders for a quick two count. Jayce left the rough start behind his back, starting to build momentum with his tricking style of offense. This was exactly what Megan should’ve avoided, giving the Australian room to use his acrobatic and unique moves that were not only beautiful to watch, but extremely effective too. All those cartwheels and flips before his kicks added velocity and strength to his strikes, and soon Megan found herself staring at the lights after a backflip kick. The energetic australian popped back to his feet with a kip up and connected a running shooting star press that almost won him the title. He didn’t slow down, keeping the pace too quick even for someone like Megan who always made the fast and furious offense her forte. As often happens to him, he went a little overboard when he hit the ropes with a handspring to bounce back with a stunner. Megan wisely took a step forward anticipating him and catching him in mid air in a waistlock, using his own momentum to pin him on the mat with a bridging german suplex. With the momentum on his side, Megan came close to the win with the Mega Kick, but it wasn’t enough to keep Keelan down. Jayce rolled out of the ring to regroup, but Megan wasn’t giving him the courtesy. She waited until he gained the vertical base and hit the ropes, jumping over the top one with a beautiful over the top rope somersault plancha. Keelan saw her in time and countered it with a devastating sit down powerbomb, slamming the Intercontinental Champion on the canvas. The impact was brutal, to the point that the referee went to check on her for what seemed a quite possible injury. Showing great sportsmanship, Keelan allowed him to check on her, sighing in relief as he deemed her fit to continue. He picked her up and rolled her back in the ring, making the cover after a beautiful springboard shooting star press, but somehow, though in clear pain, Megan kicked out. The match was clearly in Keelan’s pocket at this point, Megan was barely able to stand let alone fight back. She was still holding on, desperately pushing Keelan’s away hoping to recover enough force to do the impossible and turn the tables. She reached the ropes, grabbing them and trying to pull herself up but Jayce dragged her away. Again she kicked him away, creating some distance to try once again getting up to her feet, hanging on the closest thing she could find. The referee. The official tried to push her back, Keelan was back behind and wrapped his arms around her waist. Having blocked the referee’s sight, Magan swung her leg back, hitting Jayce between the legs. She then quickly moved behind his back with a standing switch, rolling backwards and pinning him for long enough to retain once again the Intercontinental Championship. WINNER: Megan Monroe (STILL CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Roll-Up), 13:28 |
We open to the backstage area of the arena. A wall with the MWE Dog Days of Summer posted on it can be viewed quite easily. “Cult of Personality” by Living Color begins playing. Once the opening guitar riffs are over three figures step into the scene from stage left. Two of them happen to be Neil Newman and Kyle Butler, neither dressed to compete, but both looking ready and intense nevertheless. The third is MWE Junior Heavyweight...or Super Glorious as she calls it...Champion, Hayley Hasley. A fourth comes in last and this happens to be “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock. The self-proclaimed Best in the World is wearing her purple ring gear. Her newly won MWE Riot Championship title belt is draped over her right shoulder. Her long blonde hair hangs unrestrained to below the shoulders. A confident, borderline smug and arrogant, smirk is etched across her lovely face. Glory Braddock stops in the center of the scene with Neil and Kyle and Hayley standing behind her, Neil on her right and Kyle to the left. The music slowly dies down until it is completely silenced. The British Bombshell then begins to speak.
Glory Braddock:
Sun Tzu says, “in the midst of chaos there is opportunity.”
The gorgeous blonde Riot Champion lets out a slight chuckle.
Glory Braddock:
I hope my good friend Sophie doesn’t mind me quoting her favorite philosopher, but I do believe this particular quote is oh so appropriate for tonight. Because tonight is all about chaos. Now most people fear chaos. Chaos makes people nervous because it upsets the accepted norm. And this match that has been booked, this champions showcase featuring four teams of four, with multiple championships on the line, including my MWE Riot Championship and Hayley’s Super Glorious Championship, it creates a great deal of chaos and it puts the champions at a disadvantage, making us all vulnerable to losing our hard fought championships. You may think that the Glorious Golden Era, specifically Hayley and myself, would be upset with this match.
The British Bombshell pats the MWE Riot Championship title belt that is draped over her right shoulder.
Glory Braddock:
And I will be the first to admit that after going through five hellacious wars with Henri Black to become the new MWE Riot Champion I was not pleased to hear about this match. And is it fair to Hayley to put her championship in such jeopardy after fending off not one but two opponents at By Any Means?
The self-proclaimed “Best in the World” shakes her head.
Glory Braddock:
No, it isn’t fair, but there will be no crying or excuses from the Glorious Golden Era because we see what Sun Tzu has wisely pointed out to us. We see the opportunity here within this chaos. You see half of the championship gold in this match is already possessed by this group, the greatest group in MWE and all of professional wrestling. But notice that while Hayley and I have gold, Neil and Kyle happen to be missing THEIR tag team championships. This match, this match born of pure and utter chaos, gives us the opportunity to not only remedy that situation and regain the tag gold, but also to potentially take our mission to the next level. You see, our goal since the creation of the Glorious Golden Era was to be a slow and steady pace. We were going to rebuild Riot in our image and we did that. We were going to rule Riot with an iron fist and once we righted that ship we would take on Millennium. But now this match gives us the opportunity to complete our task in one...GLORIOUS...night. Because tonight Neil, Kyle, Hayley, or myself, one of us will leave here as the MWE World Champion. Then we can not only rebuild Riot in our image, but we can rebuild this entire company in our GLORIOUS image.
Neil Newman cracks his knuckles.
Neil Newman:
The world has been tweeting at Kyle and I for weeks asking us why we aren’t more upset over losing the MWE Tag Team Championships. Kicking Javen’s ass on Night 2 did somewhat help remedy our frustration. The more we thought about it, we came to the conclusion that in the tag team division itself, other than our wives of course, The Golden Era have NO EQUALS. BreeTee Committee? Please. We showed at Dark Web they were only champions cause we were screwed before that. McMillions? Whatever. Those clowns have NEVER beaten us. A.P.E for all their talk, for all their bluster, needed help from their ranks and The McMillions to steal what we worked hard for. The only team in the division we consider equals are Jessica and Summer. The rest of you? Can’t match up to us. Not on our worst day. For those confused why Kyle and I haven’t ranted and raved over the theft that happened at By Any Means, there you go.
Neil looks over at Kyle Butler. The Alabama born wrestler nods back.
Kyle Butler:
Kelsey, I was confused when you asked me and Neil is Glory cool with our desire to become MWE World Champion. Here’s what you and the rest of the teams in this match need to understand bay bay. Glorious Golden Era are on the same page. Whether it is Glory 2 Belts, Hayley 2 Belts. It could be my best friend forever Neil Newman, we agree that the World Championship being in our ranks will be absolutely GLORIOUS. If it comes down to the World Championship or the tag titles, there is no comparison. Hayley may not be your biggest fan Kelsey, we can all agree you are an upgrade over CCJ. Last thing any of us want is for the World Championship to find its way back into A.P.E hands. That would be depressing as all hell. And barf worthy. Can’t forget barf worthy.
Kyle motions like he is going to throw up.
Kyle Butler:
What makes our camp sooo glorious, the mission matters. That is what makes Glorious Golden Era the movement to beat in this cluster of a contest. Kelsey, your husband and your brother in law suck, you don’t suck as much as them. But what will suck for you is losing a championship you worked so hard for. Consider your short reign collateral damage for the ineptitude of The McMilions. You choose the wrong people to associate with. That will be your downfall, Kelsey. So when you wake up in the morning without the ten pounds of gold to keep you company, maybe you’ll reevaluate your life choices. Wooooooooooooooo!
Kyle thumps his chest. Hayley Halsey meanwhile, is expressing confidence in her eyes, not showing any fear or worry of what’s ahead, as she begins to express her thoughts.
Hayley Halsey:
It’s funny because she’s the BETTER Spencer… and after months of back and forth nonsense, FINALLY I put Krissy behind me… but YOU Kelsey… disgust me! You have got to be, far and away, the most OVERRATED wrestler on the roster. You’re good and everything, don’t get me wrong… but it took you HOW LONG and HOW MANY TRIES to win ANY championship in this company before you FINALLY got it done? And you’re praised as this huge hero and the face of this company? To HELL with that! You don’t get to be the golden girl… that title belongs to either Glory or I. I won my championship on the first try against huge odds! Seven other people couldn’t stop me! I retained this championship, AGAIN against huge odds! Glory won her championship going through a one-man gauntlet! We fought hard against the odds and got the job done quick! You? What makes YOU special?
Your association with the McMillions, the people responsible for APE being the tag team champions, makes you just as guilty as they are… it makes you an enemy of professional wrestling! But no worries, one of us is going to fix this tonight… when we relieve you of that championship and make everything right on Riot! When the dust settles… there’s going to be no doubt left as to who is the true dominant force around here: not Kelsey, not APE… US!
The British Bombshell smirks.
Glory Braddock:
Hayley is right, we will be surrounded by many enemies of wrestling tonight. And despite the praise she may have received for winning the MWE World Championship at By Any Means from CCJ, Kelsey is NOT the hero of this story. Glorious Golden Era are the heroes of this story. Tonight either Neil wins yet another singles championship in his career, Kyle wins his FIRST world championship, Hayley wins her first world championship....or…
Braddock nods her head. The confidence if not arrogance seemingly poring for her every pore.
Glory Braddock:
...OR I will win my fifteenth heavyweight championship of the world. That’s the only way this goes down tonight. This night ends with the Glorious Golden Era reigning supreme because we are truly THE BEST IN THE WORLD!
The scene fades.
With only the main event left on the card, we cut once again backstage following the man in charge of the MWE security as well as Grace van Beek personal detail Ryen Riekert as he stands outside the office of the Millennium General Manager Elsa McCarthy.
Elsa McCarthy:
Come in Ryen.
Said the young woman as the South African knocks at her door. And in he went, finding Elsa behind her desk, looking at footage from By Any Means. The sight cause the stoic former military to roll his eyes.
Ryen Riekert:
You're still watching that clip?
Elsa McCarthy:
The answer is there, Ryen, I know that!
She points at the screen, stopping the footage on a frame of her own office. A scene oddly similar to the one happening live, with her and Ryen standing in that same room. The only difference is that, unlike last time, her desk isn't covered in paperwork.
Elsa McCarthy:
I just need to figure out what those documents were, what I was looking for in them.
Ryen Riekert:
You don't remember anything? Not even a small detail? Anything that could help us figuring it out?
He asks with a tone of concern. Elsa shakes her head no, burying her face in her hands.
Elsa McCarthy:
I'm trying... But all I'm getting is another headache.
A long sigh follows her words.
Elsa McCarthy:
Anyway, you said you have something for me?
Riekert takes a step forward, picking up some documents from the bag he was carrying.
Ryen Riekert:
Miss van Beek wants to see what you think of these.
Elsa McCarthy:
Oh... I'll give it a look after the show, tell her that she will have my report on her desk tomorrow morning.
A light laugh interrupts her.
Ryen Riekert:
Take your time, she's in no rush.
He greets the young GM and turns to leave.
Ryen Riekert:
And take care of yourself.
Elsa McCarthy:
I wish I could...
The look on her face suddenly changes, almost as that phrase, the same phrase she said that night, triggered a memory she thought she had lost forever.
Ryen Riekert:
Are you ok, Elsa?
Elsa McCarthy:
Tell miss van Beek that I will need a couple of days to get that job done for her... I just remembered what I was doing that night...
Ryen quickly went back to her desk, gesturing at the cameraman to leave them alone as Elsa was about to tell him what she was working on before passing out.
Tag Team Elimination Match*
MWE World Championship, MWE Tag Team Championship, Riot Championship and Junior Heavyweight Championship on the line
Self Die Squad VS APE VS Glorious Golden Era VS Oreo StarsMWE World Championship, MWE Tag Team Championship, Riot Championship and Junior Heavyweight Championship on the line
Peyton Holland: “Here we are, ladies and gentlemen! The biggest main event in MWE history, four titles on the line at the same time in a match that promises to be chaotic and full of twists and turns." Ambra Monroe: "With sixteen people involved? That might be the understatement of the year." Amy Maynard: "Figgles, how does a champion prepare for a match like this? What strategy do you believe would work best?" Sir Figgles: "If you are the champion, you must believe everyone is coming for you. Kick everything that moves, that sounds like the best plan you can come up with." Ambra Monroe: "I'm sure there are more layers than that. Each team, except Oreo Stars.." Sir Figgles: "What a dumb name!" Ambra Monroe: "As I was saying, each team holds at least a piece of gold, two in the Glorious Golden Era case. This is not just about attacking and trying to get your hands on more gold, it's also about protecting your teammates." Peyton Holland: "We'll see how this all will play out, the match is about to start. Kelsey wasn't listening to nobody, determined to prove a point in her first appearance as the MWE World Champion and start the match, even though that would mean go against the biggest threat in the match, APE's powerhouse REDD Thunder. The Walking Disaster was quick to prove that, sometimes, in wrestling size does matter. After taking some kicks from the champion without seeming too affected, he knocked her down with a single right hand, definitely not enough to keep Kelsey down. He relentlessly went on the attack, tossing her around with a series of suplexes before he whipped her in the APE corner and squashed her charging in like a freight train. One by one they all took turns punching and kicking the former Uncanny Socialite, first Duke, then Alan and lastly the man she beat less than a month ago for the world title, Chris Constantine Junior. The leader of the American Pain Experience was by far the most ferocious in his attacks, hitting the cornered champion with elbows and kicks and punches. he even tried to choke her pressing his boot against her neck. The referee was quick to step in and stop the illegal maneuver but while he was having a few words with Chris, the rest of his team took the chance to beat down the champion with clubs from behind and punches to the back and kidneys. Amy Maynard: “Oh look, APEs doing APE’s things.” Sir Figgles: “It’s all fair in love and war, Amy!” The same scene repeated again a minute later, this time though the rest of Kelsey’s team had seen enough and decided to do something. One by one they swept the other members of APE off the apron and unleashed hell on them. Javen taking on REDD, Krissy hammering Alan with punches to the head while Christian and Duke reinvigorated their rivalry with a stiff exchange. Seeing the chaos that was happening on the outside and how dangerously close to his wife Olivia they were, CCJ took his eyes off the opponent for a moment to warn his woman and almost paid for it as Kelsey was quick to plant him on his head with a snap ddt from which the former World Champion barely kicked out before the three. As he kicked out he reacted with a wicked lariat that turned Spencer inside out. When he went to make the cover though the referee didn’t start the count, asking him to leave the ring instead. Since he wasn’t listening, Dean Smith who made the blind tag moments before lifted him in a gorilla press position and threw him over the top rope and onto the rest of APE and Self-DIe Squad, taking them all out. Sir Figgles: “Look at this meathead! Who does he think he is? That’s not how you treat the Greatest World Champion Of All Time!” Amy Maynard: “Weird, I didn’t think Melissa Reeves was in the match.” Sir Figgles: “You’re so funny..” Dean’s power was too much for Kelsey, who knew she would have had the biggest target on her back walking in this main event but she surely wasn’t expecting such a rough start. Smith lifted her and hit a series of backbreakers, a move made famous by his sister Bree who seemed to appreciate the tribute, applauding Dean who now flexed a bit for the camera before laying on top of the world champion to make the cover. Spencer kicked out once again. Peyton Holland: “Tough client in Dean for the champ. More so after going through the beatdown from APE” Ambra Monroe: “It’s a huge opportunity for Dean, and he’s determined to capitalize. He could walk out with the World Championship and still have a granted opportunity at the Riot Championship.” Sir Figgles: "Did we ever had a double champion in MWE?" Peyton Holland: "Nope." Sir Figgles: "Oh please Gods Of Wrestling don't let this gibbon be the first to accomplish it…” Despite what Sir Figgles may think of the longest reigning Riot Champion came close to accomplish the first part of this task with a fireman’s carry gutbuster with Javen sliding back in and breaking up the pinning predicament just in time. CM joined him inside the ring and the McMillions decided to give their partner some time to recover and lifted Smith for a double suplex. This didn’t sit well with Bree and Teagan who rushed in and took care of the former Tag Team Champions, while Spencer slowly made it to her corner where Krissy took the tag, finally giving her the opportunity to rest up after this troubled start. The Wicked One entered the match with a wicked jumping knee to the back of the head that took Dean down on his way to the corner where Luna was waiting for the tag. The Star Of The Night looked pissed but quickly began cheering on Dean who was now getting hit with several forearm strikes to the back of the head by a ruthless Kristina. He kept crawling toward the corner, dragging the opponent who was now sitting on top of her with him.He almost got there when Spencer stopped and dragged him back into the middle of the ring, adding a stomp to the back of the head for good measure. Ambra Monroe: “People tend to sleep on Kristina but when chaos ensues, she reigns supreme.” Peyton Holland: “She is, when she can stay focused.” And tonight wasn’t one of those nights. Spencer found something to say to the Junior Heavyweight Champion, who obviously couldn’t resist and followed suit. As the two rivals kept insulting one another, Dean recovered and made the tag to Luna. The former Lockdown champion made it clear in the past weeks that she can’t wait to get some gold around her waist and truly showed it in the first moments of this match, entering and catching Kristina off guard with a running hurricanrana. Then she flaunted all her striking technique, hitting Spencer with quick and pinpoint combinations of kicks and knee strikes. Her Krav Maga background was something Krissy wasn’t prepared for and couldn’t counter, soon finding herself laying on her back after a bicycle knee right under the chin. Luna made the cover but Kristina saved herself. Kelsey’s cousin, visibly stunned, tried to make it to the nearest corner, which happened to be the Glorious Golden Era’s. Desperately she tired to make the tag to either Glory or Hayley, but they both jumped off the apron as they saw Krissy diving in their direction. On the male side of the corner instead, Kyle tagged Luna out, with the Star Of The Night letting the referee and Butler know all her disappointment. But Kyle was already focusing on Krissy, pinning her with a deadlift bridging german suplex that almost earned him the first elimination. Krissy tried a comeback, trying to fight her way out of the GGE corner and almost made it through Butler, until the former champion ducked the right hand and, lifting her with a wasitlock, slammed her back against the corner. Halsey made the tag and entered the ring, measuring up the opponent who was now being held in a full nelson position by Kyle. And then she struck, a perfect wheel kick that would’ve hit the target, if Krissy didn’t duck causing her foot to connect with her partner’s face. Realizing the mistake, Halsey immediately apologized to her partner getting rolled up by Kristina with a quick schoolboy pin. Amy Maynard: “Whoa, that was close!” Ambra Monroe: “Spencer almost caught the champion off guard there, but now she really should consider making the tag.” And that was what Kristina did, diving towards the nearest corner and making the tag to one of her sworn enemies. No, not Christian Michaels, the legal man now became a dumbfounded Duke Andrews. Winning the initial surprise the Epitome Of Perfection entered the ring and went on the attack, his power and experience advantage quickly putting him on the driver’s seat against the Junior Heavyweight champion. Hayley nailed him with a tilt-a-whirl ddt and for a hot minute it looked like she was able not only to regain control. But Duke had several aces up his sleeves, one of them being his teammates always ready and willing to provide the distraction and take advantage of the situation. And while CCJ drew the referee’s attention on him, REDD hit Hayley with a punch to the back of the head and Alan entered the ring. Both him and Duke began stomping the new Vainglorious and soon Alan joined in. The rest of the Glorious Golden Era rushed in to save their partner from the beatdown, attacking the three APEs. Chris Constantine restored the numeric superiority while Hayley recovered on the mat. Amidst the chaos inside the ring, Duke gratuitously hit Christian Michaels, who felt compelled to retaliate and stepped inside the ring. Ambra Monroe: “The referee is going to have a hard time restoring some order in this match.” Peyton Holland: “Are we really surprised? This was bound to happen…” Sir Figgles: “In my experience, these situations just sort themselves out. All the ref has to do is to let the boys play.” It took a while, but bodies eventually began to fly over the top rope, most of them tossed by a raging REDD Thunder who was cleaning house. Only a combined effort by the Brothers McMillion stopped the Walking Disaster who fell outside the ring courtesy of a double superkick. The same fate that was awaiting Javen who was taken out by Chris Constantine. As the former champion turned around, he was hit by a running crossbody from the actual champion, and the two of them ended up landing on the floor outside. With the field now almost clear, the referee had a much easier game in separating CM and Duke and convincing the former Tag Team Champion to go back in his corner. As he was doing so he missed the low blow from Hayley, who then quickly dropped Andrews on his head with a reverse DDT. A quick cover followed but the APE member kicked out in two. After a short back and forth, Duke raked the eye of the Junior Heavyweight Champion and who then lifted her on his shoulder and brought her down with the Andrews Effect. Before he could make the cover, he received a blind tag on his back and a high kick to the face from the apron by Luna, who climbed to the top rope and quickly climbed to the top rope and jumped on the motionless Halsey with the Stardom (Sparkle Splash), straight into a cover. Glory rushed in to attempt a last minute save, but before she could break up the pin she was intercepted by Dean Smith with a cv RUMCHATA AYANO: Hayley Halsey has been eliminated. Luna Smith is the NEEEEEEW JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! Sir Figgles: "What the hell? She's not even signed to Riot!" Peyton Holland: "That's something that will be sorted out in September, what matters now is that both the Glorious Golden Era and the Oreo Stars are now down a member." Ambra Monroe: "And that may not even be the only surprise…" The match continued with Dean picking up a battered Glory Braddock and powerbombing her into the canvas. He quickly hooked the leg causing the Golden Era to storm into the ring to save their partner. But before they could reach her, Alan Envy had already grabbed Dean's boot and dragged him outside. A short brawl between the two men followed, with Alan seemingly getting the upper hand, rocking the longest reigning Invictus Champion with some stiff shots, until Smith drove him spine first against the apron. Not even time for him to turn around and climb on the apron that Glory took him out with a suicide dive. She sent Kyle and Neal on Dean while she waited inside the ring, watching the former Tag Champions mauling her next contender. Shortly after the BreeTee came to take the Golden Era away from Dean who pulled himself on the apron and entered through the ropes. Glory kicked the middle one to stun the big man, struggling to drag his upper body inside while his feet were still resting on the rope and planting him on his face. Amy Maynard: “How quickly Glory turned the tides! And now she’s looking to eliminate Dean and retain her title!” Peyton Holland: “Looks like Alan has other plans!” Sir Figgles: “Why the hell did he break it up?” Ambra Monroe: “Because if he didn’t, the Riot Champion and the title would have been gone from the match. And it’s no secret that APE has their eyes set on it.” The match then continued with Braddock wearing down the bigger opponents with some neck holds from her vast repertoire. Dean eventually came back, countering an irish whip and sending Glory against the rope, bending forward and tossing her over his head with a high back body drop. The Riot Champion arched her back in pain after the landing, bringing her hand on her lower back. Smith immediately targeted that same area with several knee drops before he showed off his strength with a gutwrench backbreaker that earned him a two count. There seemed to be a natural chemistry between him and Bree, the two of them tagging in and out frequently and working together on the champion. Every now and then Teagan joined in and took her shots at Glory, who was in great difficulty against the remaining Oreo Stars combined efforts. Her Riot championship reign almost came to an early end when Dean lifted her in a suplex position and dropped her frontally with a falcon arrow. Amy Maynard: “Damn, that was close…” Peyton Holland: “Glory desperately needs to make the tag now.. Either to her partners or anyone else, but she has to find a way to escape this situation.” The opportunity came when she cat Dean with a jawbreaker and, exhausted, she started crawling toward Kyle and Neal-. She almost reached them but Dean was quicker to reach his corner and gave the tag to Teagan who then rushed toward Glory and stopped her on her tracks with an elbow drop when she was literally inches away from her partner. The irish woman continued the onslaught for a couple of minutes until Glory countered an irish whip attempt and sent her against the ropes. “TAAAAAG!” yelled the referee as Duke turned Teegs back red with a hard slap as she bounced against the ropes. He was now the legal man and he entered the ring, immediately charging at the Riot champion who took out his knee with a basement enziguri. She then followed with a kick to the head that floored Michigan’s Favorite Son and gave her the opportunity to step over him and head once again to her corner. Duke grabbed her ankle to slow her down while REDD and Alan swept the Golden Era from the apron, frustrating another opportunity for Glory to make the tag. Amy Maynard: “This doesnìt bode well for the champion…” But the resourceful Braddock stunned the former Lockdown Champion with an enziguri kick and dove toward the opposite corner, making the tag to Kelsey Spencer who had just recovered from the beatdown she suffered in the opening minutes. And she recovered well, bringing the fight to the Epitome Of Perfection hitting him with a flurry of swift kicks, scoring a couple of near falls that annoyed Andrews. He channeled all his frustration in a big lariat that turned Kelsey inside out. Rather than pinning her, he tagged CCJ who didn’t waste a second trying to win back the title he just lost, But the world champion wasn’t giving up so easily, not even after being dropped neck first on Chris’ knee. Kelsey was able to break his offense and make the tag to Javen who entered the ring with a springboard crossbody to take out Alan, legal man after Chris rushed to make the tag. The Thrillbilly was way too quick for the Lonestar, who was struggling to find a counter to the opponent’s unpredictable style. Things went from bad to worse when Simon and his brother brought to the match that sinergy and those combined maneuvers that helped them ascend to the top of the MWE tag team division. With a Dirty South Drop they almost propelled themselves straight back to the top, but Envy was able to kick out right before the three. The momentum changed when REDD entered the ring, once again his size and raw power being the game changer. With his stone like fists he slowly tore down Christian who only survived the Brute Force Algorithm because of Kristina, of all people, putting the differences aside for the good of their team, keeping all four members in the match. The idyll only lasted that short span of time, before the former Junior Heavyweight champion began yelling at CM to “try not to suck.” Christian grumbled and slowly picked himself up, shooting a glare at Kristina who was now leaving the ring. This exposed him to a stiff punch to the face from REDD who then lifted him over his shoulder for a running powerslam. Maybe it was Kristina’s harsh words that triggered something in the McMillion, but fact is that Christian slipped away from his grasp, landing between the big man and jumping on his back, quickly wrapping his arms around his neck for a tight sleeper hold. The more REDD tried to break free, the tighter he squeezed, cutting the regular flow of oxygen. A good minute later, REDD finally was able to flip CM over and slam him on the mat, but the former Tag Champion was quickly back on his feet, catching the Walking Disaster with a superkick. REDD fell down and CM rushed to make the cover, broke up by the rest of APE storming the ring. And once again, everybody and their mother joined in the massive brawl. Sir Figgles: “Haha you gotta love this!” Amy Maynard: “Unless you are the referee. The poor guy is having the worst night so far.” Peyton Holland: “He knows that it’s in situations like this that APE thrives, when the referee can’t possibly keep their eyes on everything that’s going on.” Once again Peyton’s analysis was spot on and while the situation slowly returned to normal, Chris Constantine Junior pulled out his notorious APE customized brass knuckles and hit CM to the back of the head with it. REDD didn’t notice it, too busy launching Javen out of the ring. When he turned out, he spotted Christian slowly rising to his feet and didn’t hesitate to end him with the Giga Impact. Everyone was too busy fighting someone else, and the referee counted the three a moment before Javen could save his brother. Rumchata Ayano: "The Brothers McMillion have been eliminated!" Peyton Holland: "Tough break for Kelsey, half of her team is now gone." Ambra Monroe: "It's not an ideal situation, but keep in mind that all it takes her is a pinfall, on anyone, to leave Dog Days Of Summer with the title still around her waist." That was what Glory Braddock must've thought as she took the stage after the brothers' elimination driving REDD's face into the canvas with a running bulldog. After that came a diving double foot stomp from the Best In The World, whose pinning predicament only was worth a count of two. Redd stumbled toward a corner where he was tagged out by Dean Smith, eager to take the Riot Championship from the British Bombshell. And he started with the right foot, a series of three consecutive clotheslines kept knocking her down every time she stood up to her feet. The fourth one was ducked by Braddock who was quick to catch the former Invictus Champion with a dropkick to the chest as soon as he turned around. The impact caused Smith to stumble back against the ropes. Peyton Holland: “I don’t think Glory saw it but there was a tag… Teagan is now the legal person!” Dean came off the ropes with his arm stretched out, taking the Riot champion’s head off with another clothesline. Gallagher was already standing on the top rope ready to jump and land on Braddock with a shooting star press. Ambra Monroe: “I guess Glory did see the tag after all.” Amy Maynard: “Braddock’s knees were not quite the landing Teagan was hoping for…” Glory made the quick cover, but Teagan had enough left in her to kick out in time. Neil asked and obtained the tag, immediately brought his partner into play, He then picked up Gallagher and held her into a bearhug while his partner took a run at the ropes to gain some speed and hit her with a lariat. It was The End Of An Era, but not the end for the BreeTee committee thanks to Bree’s quick intervention. The next few minutes were absolute hell for Teagan, thrown across the ring like a rag doll from both Kyle and Neal who flaunted all their arsenal of suplexes. But the Irish born had proved on several occasions that she can take a lot of punishment, kicking out every time the Golden Era tried to keep her down and even managing to create an opening to tag a fired up Bree in. Smith entered the ring with a flurry of forearms and elbows to Kyle, stunning him and dropping him on the mat with a suplex, floating right into a cover for a count of two. Not afraid to trade punches with Neal after the tag, Bree lost the exchange and got whipped against the ropes, but she came back and took the Golden Era member with a Thesz press, hammering him with a series of forearms to the face. Once regained control, Smith kept wearing Butler down and connected her trifecta of German suplexes known as The Power Of Bree, leaving Kyle laying on the mat. A quick glance at Teagan who gave her a nod of approval to state that she was ready for the Over The Pop. The tag was made, Gallagher climbed on the top rope and from there stepped on Bree’s shoulder. But Dean stopped the execution of the move, offering his hands for Teagan to step onto, raising then his arms over his shoulders to offer her a higher platform to jump off with her 630 corkscrew senton from. Amy Maynard: “You gotta be kidding me… She can’t be thinking…” Peyton Holland: “She can, and she did:” Dean and Bree took care of Butler and Braddock, making sure they wouldn’t be able to make the save and frustrate Teegs’ high risk move. Rumchata Ayano: “The Golden Era has been eliminated!” The Oreo Stars celebration didn’t last long. APE wasted no time storming inside the ring in full force with REDD taking out Bree with a running headbutt while CCJ and Duke ganged up on Dean, leaving Alan alone with Gallagher. Kick to the stomach and Envious Demise for a quick elimination. Rumchata Ayano: “The BreeTee Committee have been eliminated! APE is STILL the MWE Tag Team Champions.” Peyton Holland: “All tag teams are now gone, APE can still count on two members, just like the Self Die Squad. Glory and Dean instead are out here on their own.” Constantine yelled something at REDD, who then started headbutting everything and everyone in a frenzy. Dean, Glory and Kelsey both ended up laying on the floor, their lights turned out by the concussion machine known as REDD Thunder. Kristina instead was dragged between the ropes and received the same treatment. Absolutely out of control, the Walking Disaster headbutted even the poor referee who was trying to convince him to leave the ring, unsuccessfully. Duke didn’t realize it until he made the cover and didn’t hear anyone making the count, turning around to see what had happened. A second official rushed to the ring as Alan finally managed to calm down his partner and convinced him to leave. Once again Andrews made the cover but Kristina had enough time to recover and successfully kicked out. Not only that, she even almost caught Andrews with a cradle, scoring a very close near fall that gave lit a fire in her, throwing everything she had left at Michigan’s Favorite Son, dominating the match for a few minutes where she obtained a few two counts thanks to some interesting kicking combinations. She missed the heart punch called Hand Of The WIcked though, as Duke blocked her arm and twisted it behind her back in a hammerlock, lifting her with a back suplex from that position. As Spencer was standing up, Duke hit her with the Killshot, and that was enough for him to score the win. Rumchata Ayano: “Kristina Spencer has been eliminated!” The first one up and inside the ring was Glory Braddock, but Duke didn’t look too interested in her or the “B-Show Title” as he would call it. He simply controlled the match until Dean climbed on the apron and then tagged him in. Still slightly dizzy from REDD's headbutt, Smith entered the ring and locked horns with Braddock, easily pushing her against the corner exploiting the size and power advantage. There, Glory was hit with a series of heavy chops that left her breathless and defenseless as Dean lifted her on the top turnbuckle and climbed on the middle rope, driving the Riot champion all the way to the canvas with a superplex. The big move only gave him a count of two, just like his following attempt that came after the folding powerbomb, the discus clothesline and that huge big boot right to the face. Amy Maynard: “No matter what Dean tries, Glory just won’t give up her title so easily.” Always coming so close and yet failing to get the job done was starting to frustrate Dean now tried to put the Best In The World away using his patented submission, the dragon sleeper hold he called, emblematically, Choke Out. Perhaps the tiredness of a match that had been gone at that time for over 40 minutes, perhaps that sense of urgency coming from being possibly seconds away from winning the major title on the orange brand, but the execution was far from perfect, leaving an opening for Glory to escape. With the last bit of energy left in her she kicked him on the side of the head and rushed to the corner occupied by APE, looking for a desperate tag. Of course, neither CCJ nor Duke were interested in taking on Dean, and they jumped off the apron before Braddock could reach them. Kelsey Spencer was her only other hope, but the World Champion was in the opposite corner, and Dean was already closing in on her. With a dropkick to the knee she sent Dean hanging on the middle rope, a vulnerable position she capitalized on with a running knee to the back of the head. She couldn’t pass on the chance to inflict further damage putting her knee to the back of his neck and pressing down his trachea on the middle rope. The referee enforced the rule and forced the break, but the illegal maneuver had already caused its damage. Dean picked himself up, coughing and trying to catch his breath, still dizzy from the shot to the head. Before he could turn around, Glory had already hooked his arms and planted him on the mat with the Glorification (unprettier). The Riot champion made the cover on the motionless Dean who, despite looking completely out of it, managed to raise his foot and rest it on the lower rope. Before someone, namely the referee, could see it, Duke pushed it off it. Rumchata Ayano: “Dean Smith has been eliminated! Glory Braddock is STILL your Riot Champion!” Amy Maynard: “Sixteen men and women started this match, and we’re now down to the final three.” Peyton Holland: “And two of them are on the same team. Things don’t look too good for the World Champion.” Ambra Monroe: “You have to give credit to Constantine and Andrews. Their strategy worked out so far, and now they have a great opportunity to end Kelsey’s reign.” Sir Figgles: “The world title is coming back home baybay!” The two members of APE had a wide smile across their face as they debated who should start against Spencer. The choice fell on Chris Constantine who rested for the longer part of this match and easily got an early advantage on Kelsey who, unlike him, took a lot of punishment especially in the first part of the match as well as during each and every brawl that happened out of the ring (and there were plenty of them). Not to mention, the busted nose courtesy of REDD's headbutt. All in all a bad spot for the champ, now completely at APE mercy. With quick and frequent tags, they double teamed her almost the entire time, obtaining a series of near falls, each and everyone of them a little closer to the three. Peyton Holland: “This seems like any other match involving Constantine where he exploits the numbers game to his advantage. Only this time, it’s all legal.” Amy Maynard: “They’re even tagging one another in and out, like they suddenly care about the rules…” Sir Figgles: “Hey you two, show some respect for the future World Champion.” Ambra Monroe: “Did you notice how Duke never tries to make the cover but tags CCJ instead? If anyone had any doubt about their cohesion, or was hoping that greed would get between them, they have another thing coming.” Sir Figgles: “That’s because unlike these other fools, they are a unit. Look at them leaving this match undefeated.” A timid reaction from the champion was abruptly ended by a right punch to the jaw from Duke that floored her. And there was another tag to follow up, with Duke clearly gesturing at the camera that this was over. In came Constantine picking up a limp Kelsey and setting her up for the American Strong Piledriver, spiking the Uncanny Socialite into the canvas. And then he made the cover, the smile on his face growing wider as the referee’s hand slammed the mat. Once, Twice. Three tim… Amy Maynard: “SHE KICKED OUT! Kelsey is still alive!” Hard to tell who was more shocked. The commentary team, Chris Constantine, Duke or the referee, firm on his decision no matter how hard to believe it was. CCJ’s protest led to nothing but giving Kelsey a little bit of time to recover and try an incredible comeback. A few kicks forced the former champion to back down, but he came back with a lariat that leveled Kelsey once again. As he went to pick her up though, she dropped on her knees and stunned him with a jawbreaker, quickly following with a standing dropkick. The impact sent Chris in his corner, and allowed Andrews to make an easy tag. Michigan’s Favorite Son entered the ring and charged at Kelsey, who was getting back to her feet. Seeing him coming, Spencer was able to duck the clothesline and catch Duke with a superkick to the chin as he turned around. Andrews kicked out, trying to quickly get back control with a big right hand. Once again the MWE champion dodged the strike and counterattacked with a quick combination ending with a headscissors to throw Duke away from the friendly corner. She didn’t give him time to get up as she charged with a renewed energy and knocked him down with a shining wizard, making the cover after her cartwheel legdrop. Amy Maynard: “This would’ve been over for Duke if it wasn’t for CCJ making the save.” Ambra Monroe: “And look at them now, I guess the whole playing by the rules schtick is finally over. No longer listening to the referee, Chris was assaulting the champion, and soon Duke joined her in this brutal beatdown. Punches and kicks and elbows to the face, the threats of disqualification falling on deaf ears as APE continued their onslaught, until the official took a stance and literally put himself between Constantine and Spencer, pushing CCJ back in his corner. This seemed to calm him down, convincing him to leave the ring. Kelsey was on all fours, battered and bruised but still trying to get up to her feet. Duke helped her, only to hit her with another headbutt that caused more blood to pour from her nose. Speaking of blood, Hammerstein’s body was still covered in it as he walked out of the curtain. Coming straight from the doctor’s office after getting stitched up, the former Chicago Way Champion was looking to return the courtesy to the man who attacked him during his match, possibly costing him his title opportunity. Duke noticed the former APE member walking down the ramp with bad intentions, and this slight distraction allowed Kelsey to quickly roll him up for the three.[ Rumchata Ayano: “Duke Andrews has been eliminated!” He didn’t take this too well, standing back to his feet literally fuming and kicking Kelsey in the stomach, looking to powerbomb her. But before he could even lift the champion, Hammerstein smashed the tubes on his head, busting him open. As Duke fell down, the American Monster, clearly not done, dragged him out and kept beating up, while inside the ring the two remaining members of this huge main event squared off for one last dance. Forearms and elbows flew back and forth as the World Champion and her predecessor met in the middle of the ring. Slow, tired strikes but brought with all the strength they had left. Chris was having the upper hand but Kelsey raised her knee to his stomach, planting him on his head with a snap ddt only worth a count of two. An irish whip attempt was countered by Chris who then launched her in the air with a back body drop. Miraculously Kelsey landed on her feet, but her knee gave up on her and allowed CCJ to clothesline her off her boots. He didn’t go for the cover, looking to exploit that possible injury on her knee with a figure four leglock. The scream Spencer let out as the submission was locked in was one to send chills down someone’s spine, and the way Chris was bending the knee made it look like he was going to break her leg. But she didn’t quit, pushing through the pain to reach the near ropes, finally putting an end to this torture. Chris kept the submission for as long as he could, letting her go right before the five. He had the match right in his pocket now, Kelsey being in serious troubles, barely able to stand and exhausted. But somehow, she blocked the execution of a second piledriver and fired back with a couple of chops. Desperate, she hit CCJ with all she had left, including a couple of headbutts. Constantine fought back, the two of them once again trading blows in the middle of the ring. Until out of nowhere, like a flash in the Chicago night, Kelsey hit the Deprivation DDT, and that was enough to retain the title. Rumchata Ayano: “Chris Constantine Junior has been eliminated! The winner of this match and STILL MWE World Champion, Kelsey Spencer!” WINNER: Kelsey Spencer (STILL CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Deprivation DDT), 53:16 |
Before the dust even has a moment to settle, the sound system erupts as “The Man” by The Killers plays out, signalling the arrival of the one and only Devin Hearst! The owner and creator of the Sandstorm brand saunters out with a grin far too large for the human face to possibly hold, laughing like a madman, all while flanked by the wild-eyed and lightly-vibrating Andrew Wilkow behind him. Waiting a moment for the spotlight to be entirely stolen from the main event, Hearst drops his absurdly expensive sunglasses down the bridge of his nose to look a just now recovering Chris Constantine Jr. in his eyes.
Devin Hearst:
Howdy, Junior! Hope you don’t mind, but Drew and I were looking on from the back, you know, kicking back and enjoying some lovely Sandstorm energy, now available at stores near you, and we couldn’t help but notice that you were lookin’ a little glum. Hmm? Yeah? Chrissy have a bad day? Since I’m such a giver, I wanted to be the first to come out here, look you in the eye … and laugh right in your goddamn face! Ha! Ha! … HA! I can’t help but notice a pattern, man! You suck and I come in to save the day. It’s a good system, man; I sure like it, and I’m a big proponent of that old “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” vibe, ya dig? Now, nothing in the world would make my day more than having ol’ Drew run down there and drink your spinal fluid.”
With just the mere mention of violence, the towering Wilkow takes a step forward with purpose, only to be held back by his boss who can’t help but chuckle even harder.
Devin Hearst:
Whoa, down boy! Down! Naw, I’d love to see that, but Junior, I’m going to give you something to be happy about. You can consider yourself lucky that I didn’t show up here and add some much-needed charisma to this show just to dump you on that terrible dye job again. I ain’t here to beat your ass, man.
In an instant, the grin leaves Hearst’s face, and his extended finger moves from Junior … to Kelsey Spencer!
Devin Hearst:
I’m here to beat yours. See, you got Neal Durden and Seth Iser walking around like they won some shit, but the fact of the matter is I had a three-hundred pound manbaby sabotaging my grind, and now those boys are walking around with my guaranteed title shot! Thing is, I don’t wait for opportunities. I make opportunities! I’ve grabbed this company by the throat and made it scream my name since I signed on the dotted line, and wouldn’t you know it, briefcase or not, Devin Hearst is the number one contender for the MWE World Championship! I’m not down and out, I’m high and I’m in, and the moment the time comes, I’m riding off into the sunset with that big sexy gold belt around my waist, and I’m leaving your milk toast ass with nothing…
Sliding his shades back up, the smirk cracks again on the face of “Rev Dev”.
Devin Hearst:
But the good vibrations.
Hearst tosses the mic to the ground as “The Man” blares over the speakers again. The stare down between Hearst, Constantine Jr., and the MWE World Champion never breaks as the cameras go to black.
