Sources close to Alderman Pat Dowell confirm that the property located at 245 W 51st ST, has been sold. The 104,200 SF building situated in Fuller Park has been on sale since the largest mass school closure in U.S. history back in 2012, when it hosted the Francis Parkman School.
I’m sure the question you all are asking is: “Who’s the mysterious buyer?” Though the rumor is not confirmed, our source swear that Chuck Matthews has been visiting the Alderman’s office quite often in the past week.
And he wasn’t alone.
The South African Billionaire Grace van Beek accompanied Matthews in the last two of these meetings. Was it mere courtesy? Interest? Or is there something more?
Anyway, this wouldn’t be the first investment Matthews has made in his hometown, to him we owe the Enterprise Arena built in the Millennium Park Area, home of the wrestling company he founded back in 2018, Millennium Wrestling Enterprise. A company he lost control of in October 2018, in favor of the aforementioned Grace van Beek.
We can only speculate on what the destination of the former school will be now that the new property is setting in, but knowing Chuck Matthews we highly doubt it will be used for the needs of the community.
