Gimmick
Jenni has always been the underdog no matter where she goes, and this pushes her to become a workhorse. She doesn’t do it to prove that she’s better than everyone else, but rather to make something of herself. Her parents instilled in her discipline and morals, the two most important values in the Yang household. Because of this, Jenni has zero tolerance for anything and anyone that lack honour and integrity, especially when it comes to the dark side of the industry.

CHARACTER HISTORY/BIO
Jennifer Yang was trained in Wing Chun by her father Henry Yang when she was 5. Wing Chun quickly became ingrained in her lifestyle, including self-discipline, morals and honor. But that didn’t shelter her from the negativities in life like bullying and discrimination when growing up. Due to this and being an underdog all her life, she developed high standards not just for herself but for others and had no tolerance for bullshit. She’s a straight talker and often sees things in black and white. But that doesn’t mean she is completely closed off to alternative views. It just takes her some time to understand foreign concepts.
During her college years, Jennifer was introduced to professional wrestling and after graduation, she enrolled in Nightfall Fighting Facilities to train. She was quickly taken under the wing of the owner, Chris Night, where she continued to excel. When it was time, she went for a tryout at Pride Pro Wrestling and got signed. Soon, she made her professional ring debut.
Fast forward: Jennifer fought her way up and was granted a shot at the then simply Television champion in a tournament but it was not meant to be as Xavier Young made his surprise return to Pride Pro and became the final entrant of the match, beating the unsuspecting Jennifer. Despite the rematch clause, Jennifer’s path kept getting blocked every week as Xavier went to defend his title against various other challengers. Unfortunately, when the day finally came, the battle came to a draw. Jennifer was thrown back down the proverbial ladder after that but quickly reached the top once again after defeating three others in a literal ladder match, earning herself yet another shot Xavier’s World Television championship. And this time, Jennifer scored a victory and became the new World Television champion.
Then things started to get shaky as Jason Halich and some staff in management were driven out of Pride Pro for reasons and the brainy but dangerous Chuck Matthews took over the reigns of the company. Chuck waged war against Vengeance Pro Wrestling (VPW) and GM Matt Mendez. During a VPW invasion on the Pride Pro show, Jennifer lost the World Television title to Camila Abrines from VPW in a huge ladder match. VPW eventually won the war but it was only just a ruse by Chuck to get publicity and raise ratings for when Pride Pro moved to Chicago later in an effort to join a different CWC territory. Pride Pro was renamed Millennium Wrestling and still, the World Television championship was never recovered, even after all was said and done. This didn’t sit too well with Jennifer as she felt slighted and ignored for all her efforts. It showed in her last match against Grace van Beek for a shot at Xavier’s (again) Coastal championship. Jennifer seemed to have lost her spark a little and with her not at the recent Millennium show, it’s not clear where she could go from here.
Enter Ho Wei Shen.
Wei Shen is an entrepreneur, investor and expert in brand and communications. And now the fiancé and manager of Jennifer Yang. With both coming from conservative families, they were matchmade by their parents (their fathers are friends) and got engaged three months later. They are to be wed within a year. In the public eye, they seem to be a normal couple with a one-track mind of attaining the professional goals of reviving her career in wrestling and capturing championship gold and his self-proclaimed winning formula includes an image revamp to go with it. Besides training to improve her in-ring game, she also hones other soft skills in branding and self-marketing that come with being a well-rounded wrestling star. Privately, Jennifer is initially skeptical but it looks to be working as she finally pulled herself out of her rut and started gaining successes with every match. The biggest accomplishment so far is her winning a shot at the Millennium championship, which means her biggest opponent to date would be the current champ, Eliza Valentine. With Wei Shen guiding her and moulding her future, Jennifer has become a more confident wrestler with a fast-growing popularity and following.
[something something Wei Shen getting more cocky and crazy with pushing Jenni to be an amazing fighting champ and then being publicly dismissed and fired in a pre-match segment at Imperium before losing the Millennium championship. ]
