Riot in Illinois VI
Live from Enterprise Arena in Chicago, IL
Saturday, May 30th, 2020
After the week break, MWE comes back with the sixth Riot in Illinois, coming once again from the empty Enterprise Arena, Three Days Grace's hit "Riot" is blaring out of the loudspeakers as a clip showing footage from the past episodes of Riot, featuring some of the most popular and even the newest stars. As the song and video begins to fade, the camera cuts to the commentary booth where we find Amy Maynard and Jacob Figgins ready to call the action.
Amy Maynard:
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to Riot!
Sir Figgles:
We took a week off because... I don't really know why but it doesn't matter. What matters is that we are here tonight, with a stacked card.
Amy Maynard:
You're right there, Figgles. Starting from the bottom, our main event of the night. The first of the best of five series match between Glory Braddock and Henri Black for the vacant Riot Championship.
Sir Figgles:
Two pretenders are fighting over the remains of the greatest reign in history. Speaking of which, the fact that Devin Hearst is not here tonight is a travesty.
Amy Maynard:
Considering the history between him and Chris Constantine Junior...
Sir Figgles:
Drink #SandstormEnergy, folks. It's so good you won't believe it's legal.
Amy Maynard:
... As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, the MWE World Champion will be in action tonight alongside his partner in crime Duke Andrews taking on the pair of Kelsey Spencer and Nina.
Sir Figgles:
What does she have to do with this, huh? Why does she have to stick her nose in APE's business?
Amy Maynard:
I don't think that's what Nina is trying to do... Moretti put her in this match since her cousin, her husband and his brother all are booked in the trios match against the Glorious Golden Era.
Sir Figgles:
We have another debut tonight, in the very first match of the evening. Topher, Chris Constantine's brother steps for the first in a MWE ring, against the Omari Johnson.
Amy Maynard:
It's been a rough week for the Human Superhuman, we all saw the brutal assault to his mother by hands of the Bad Boyz. I wonder what state of mind he is in tonight.
Sir Figgles:
We will find out soon, Amy...
"Superhuman" by Blacklist Regulars continues playing as we see Omari Johnson in his red & gold wrestling outfit, pacing back and fort inside the square circle.
Amy Maynard:
Despite what happened last week in Atlanta, Omari seems to have regained his focus on his next match Topher Constantine Jr.
Sir Figgles:
Do believe being distracted with The Bad Boyz could cost Omari Johnson his second Riot match tonight?
Amy Maynard:
No doubt!!!
Just then "G.O.A.T." by CFO$ featuring Will Roush interrupts Omari's theme song. It doesnt take long before Michael Ali (sporting a black suit light blue shirt by Givenchy) makes his way out in stage holding a microphone in one hand and a document in the other.
Amy Maynard:
He is the uncle of the former WBO Junior Heavyweight Champion and new Riot Superstar Marcus Ali Jr.
Sir Figgles:
Michael Ali had a legendary career along side his brother and as a singles competitor, which eventually led to world championship gold.
Omari Johnson is staring a hole through Michael. Michael smiles as his theme song fades.
Michael Ali:
I know you expected your opponent, but before you get it on with Topher Constantine Jr, there are some urgent matters that has to be tended to.
Omari does not seem to be impressed by Michael's interruption, before the start of his match. By now Omari is also holding a microphone.
Omari Johnson:
You're kidding right?
Michael Ali:
For your sake I wish I was. You see Omari, what happened to your mother, that's on you.
Clearly getting under his skin Omari responds.
Omari Johnson:
Don't ever talk about my mother you son of a bitch. You don't know anything about her and it's because of The Bad Boyz, she's at home recieving from a fractured him and broken collarbone. I mean who throws a fifty-two year old woman into an empty pool?
Michael Ali:
Look son, I complete......
An agitated Omari quickly interrupts the uncle of Marcus Ali Jr.
Omari Johnson:
I told you before and I'll tell it to you again, I'm not your son.
There is an awkward pause of silence, before Michael responds.
Michael Ali:
Despite your refusal last week, despite super kicking me in my mouth.....
Omari Johnson:
And I'll do it again.
Michael Ali:
You'll do it again and then what, your sister suffers the same fate as you mother? You of all people should know The Bad Boyz do not play games. You need to decide.....
Omari Johnson:
My answer is, ......no!!!!
Amy Maynard:
A straight up no by The Human Superman.
Sir Figgles:
And Michael doesn't seem too happy.
Seemingly disappointed Michael simply nods.
Michael Ali:
Such a shame, I am really disappointed in your response.
As Michael Ali begins to walk off he stops and looks back at Omari Johnson.
Michael Ali:
You just don't understand, I want the best for you, we want the best for you and saying no, is not the best for you Omari. You think we don't care, but The Bad Boyz tough love, will teach you a lesson, that no, is not an answer. Good luck with your match.
Amy Maynard:
Does The Bad Boyz really want the best for Omari?
Sir Figgles:
Well, that's what he said.
Amy Maynard:
And you believed him?
Michael makes his way to the back. Clearly Omari's mood has changed.
Sir Figgles:
His body language says it all.
Amy Maynard:
Five minutes ago, Omari's mind was on his next match, now he seems distracted.

Topher Constantine Junior VS Omari JohnsonOmari Johnson had the entire MWE universe buzzing after his debut last week, not only for what he showed inside the ring in his successful debut against Christina Lopez. After his match, the Human Superhuman was attacked from behind by Khali Washington III, joined later on by Marcus Ali Jr and the mysterious masked angel, the Bad Boyz. Once they were done with him they gave him one week to think about joining their ranks to pay off his debt. The time passed and with the change in schedule, the answer had to be given last saturday. Johnson turned them down and the Bad Boyz took it out on Omari’s mother, as the footage shown on MWE.com showed. His mindset walking into this match against the newest signee Topher Constantine Jr, brother of the MWE World Champion wasn’t the best one, and this allowed TCJ to take control in the early moments, applying a headlock. From that position, he hit a couple of punches to the head before Omari pushed him against the ropes, missing the dropkick as Topher blocked his run hanging on the ropes. When Johnson got up to his feet, he was met by a kick to the stomach from Constantine, who then connected a suplex. The recent events were clearly affecting Omari’s performance. The Human Superman looked distracted, slower in his movements and his execution was sloppier. This made it easy for Topher to take the lead and show his talent, obtaining a couple of near falls with his Or Whatever (springboard stunner) and with a Or Something hurricanrana. Six minutes in and Omari finally turned things around, building some momentum with a lightning quick striking combination, culminating in a back elbow followed by a Pele Kick. Constantine was down, perfectly positioned in the middle of the ring for Johnson’s Amazing-sault (lionsault), worth a two count. And from that moment on, the Atlanta born remained pretty much in control, with the exception of a momentarily break when Topher kicked him in the gut to hit his Most Def, almost scoring the win. Johnson regained control but, as he was expecting, the Bad Boyz showed up. The sight of Marcus Ali Jr and Khalil Washington III froze Omari on the spot, Marcus’ words (“The price of your sins, tonight it's your mother, next time it could be little Kassie”) echoing in his mind, as he rightfully feared for his sister’s well being. But Kassie wasn’t there with them, unlike the Masked Angel who entered the ring behind the distracted Omari. “So like, bro..:” Came the voice of Topher, warning his opponent just in time to allow Johnson to turn and dodge Angel’s right hand, planting him with a snap ddt. The Bad Boyz entered the ring now to take the matter in their hands. But the element of surprise was gone, and Omari was not alone, joined by Constantine who fought by his side to fend off the Bad Boyz. WINNER: // BY: No Contest, 8:33 |
Amy Maynard: "The Bad Boyz tried once to mess with Omari, but this time they bit more than they could chew!"
Sir Figgles: "Are you sure about that?"
Topher and Omari were holding the ground against Marcus and Khalil, but when Angel got back to his feet, the numbers game came into play. The masked man hit Constantine with a hard shot to the back of the head, Khalil followed with a knee to the face. Just like that Omari found himself in a three on one situation and, despite his valiant effort, he eventually succumbed. Michael Ali came out on the stage to applaude his boys, standing tall over Omari and Topher.

Saki VS Noris CranleyNo stranger to one another, having already met in the ladder match at Dark Web II, two of the most exciting and unpredictable junior heavyweights in MWE squared off tonight in a fast and furious contest. Saki looked on top of her game after some less than convincing performances in the past couple of months, exploding out of the corner as soon as the bell rang and hitting Noris with a high knee to the face before hitting him with several knife edge chops across the chest. Noris reversed an irish whip attempt and charged at the cornered opponent, sending her flying across the ring with a monkey flip. The former Extreme Champion landed on her feet and took a run at the ropes to gain some speed and momentum behind the shining wizard she kicked his face in as he was getting up. She made the cover after landing on top of him with a standing moonsault, but Cranley kicked out in two. If for several minutes the Singapore Mauler managed to keep control of the Unstoppable, Noris eventually found an opening when he was sent in the corner and raised his legs to the charging opponent and stomped her to the ground. Saki was quickly back on his feet, leaving him little time to recover but Cranley was ready, swinging forearms to her face. He pushed her back toward the centre of the ring, leaving her stunned so that he could easily lift her on his shoulders for his Abandoned, the Alabama Slam in the corner. As the match continued, the two kept up the ridiculous pace, the momentum constantly shifting between one another as the near falls started piling up on both sides. Noris got one with a superkick, Saki almost got him with a hurricanrana, he nailed her with the Fallen Angel springboard DDT but she kicked out and after s springboard stunner, dropped him on top of his head with a piledriver. This was the closest any of them got to the finish before meeting once again in the centre of the ring to trade hard, tired strikes. In the midst of the battle Saki tried to bite the opponent, who barely avoided her teeth. And while the referee warned the Kawaii Deathmachine, Cranley quickly moved behind her and rolled her up with a schoolboy pin. Saki kicked out and got back to her feet, immediately getting caught with an inside cradle. The referee had just counted two when Saki rolled through, pinning now Noris shoulders to the mat. Another two count before the Florida born kicked out and went for another pinning predicament. The back and forth went on a little longer with none of them able to score the decisive pinfall. Back to their feet they were, until Noris threw his opponent over the top rope with a superkick and flew onto her with a tope con hilo. The fight continued on the outside, with Saki countering the irish whip and sending Cranley against the steel post. And then she gave in to her most savage side, using the surroundings to inflict damage to the Unstoppable, with not a single care of the time passing, continuing even after the bell rang and the match ended. WINNER: // BY: Double Countout, 10:23 |
Sir Figgles: "That's the best thing about Saki's match. You know how they start, but you have no idea what's going to happen in them."
Amy Maynard: "Knowing Saki, this is not over... And I kinda feel bad for Noris. All he wanted was a match to keep climbing the ranks and hopefully earn another shot at the Junior Heavyweight Championship."
Sir Figgles: "Don't be tacky, play with Saki"
Amy Maynard: "That was the worst impression of the Kawaii Deathmachine but you got the point."
Sir Figgles: "You know, there's a reason why nobody wants to play with her.. And Cranley is about to find out."

The scene cuts backstage to Asher Miles standing in a dark room with a red light shining down on him.
Asher Miles:
You mocked the Antares, Donnie. You didn’t take me seriously time and time again, when you should’ve known better. You know who I am. You know where I come from.
Asher leaned towards the camera and grinned.
Asher Miles:
You know what I’m fuckin’ capable of, Donnie. But despite knowing that, you still let you guard down and I fucked you up. Now you’re stuck at home, nursing your wounds while I?
Asher grinned and shrugged his shoulders innocently.
Asher Miles:
Guess you can say that I can do whatever I want without you getting in my way. But don’t you worry about it, Donnie, I’ll look out for your girl, Leia. I’ll look out for your friends, Rhett and Qiyara, as well. I got your back.
Asher winked at the camera.
Asher Miles:
So just sit back and enjoy the show. Because I’m in charge now. Your life? The people you love? They’re all in my hands now. Mine!
Asher walked out of the scene and it cut away.
Battle For The Briefcase Match
Round 2: No DQ Match
Jenni Anderson VS Leia LeBeauRound 2: No DQ Match
In the first second round match of the Battle For The Briefcase, Jenni Anderson took on Leia LeBeau in a match the outcome of which was only on paper a foregone conclusion. The young LeBeau walked into the match hellbent on proving once again all the doubters wrong and scoring another upset win, catching the Queenpin off guard with a barrage of kicks, the last one being a wheel kick to knock the member of the Establishment down. The Show went outside, looking to bring the first weapon into the match. A steel chair, the go-to for every beginner in no dq matches. Jared Constable grabbed her arm and tried to convince her to desist from using the weapon despite the stipulation of the match not only allowing it but encouraging it as well. The Jet City Woman clearly wasn’t buying it, wiggling free and getting ready to enter the ring, But Jared’s distraction allowed Jenni to recover and hit the opponent with a baseball slide, driving the chair onto her pretty face and knocking Leia down. Bringing the chair into the equation backfired spectacularly for the young LeBeau, who found herself on the receiving end of a series of vicious shots. It almost looked like Jenni was trying to test what would break first, if the chair or the opponent’s back. And Leia won, if you can call it a win. The chair buckled upon the last impact, the one that left the Showgirl flat on the mat. The chair flew out of the ring, useless now that it was reduced to a blob of metal. Anderson rolled Leia on her back and made the cover but the tenacious young woman kicked out in two. For a couple more minutes she was at the mercy of the GCW Hall Of Famer, stuck in the corner while the blonde bombshell kept hitting her with knee strikes and elbows. The referee was merely a spectator of this onslaught, having no reason to stop Jenni from hammering LeBeau with those stiff shots. Leia fought back with an eye rake, lifting the blinded opponent and letting her fall face first on the turnbuckle. And the tables turned with Leia now wearing the opponent down with shoot kicks to the chest and then choking her with a foot to the larynx while performing a handstand. Jenni was trying to catch a breath, finding herself in a very dangerous position, right in the trajectory for the Jet City Jive. With Anderson unaware of what was about to happen, it was once again Constable who avoided disaster, entering the ring and pushing Jenni out of the way, taking the bullet for her. Leia got distracted for a moment, probably taking pity of Jared who seemed out cold. This gave Jenni the chance to connect the Adora-bomb and getting another near fall. The match went on for a little longer, a surprisingly even contest where Leia shone and showed once again that she belongs in the ring, stoically kicking out from the TrickyDT on top of the chair and dropping Jenni on that very same chair with her Seattle Slutdrop. The legdrop bulldog wasn’t enough to beat Anderson but it left her stunned and crawling toward the corner to pick herself up. Once again she was right where Leia needed her to be for the Jet CIty Jive, only this time there was no Jared Constable to save her. An unexpected help came from Asher Miles, the man who put LeBeau’s boyfriend in the hospital at Dark Web II and lost to the Show in the first round of the Battle For The Briefcase. He slid inside the ring behind Leia’s back, wielding a baseball bat in his hands, like the one Donnie used to smash his face. And he swung for the fences across LeBeau’s back, causing her to scream in agony and fall to her knee. He taunted her, even landed a couple of kicks while telling her that she was a fool for thinking this was over. Then he left, smiling at Anderson who didn’t turn down the assist, finishing Leia with the Cash Advance to pick up the win. WINNER: Jenni Anderson BY: Pinfall (Cash Advance), 12:04 |
Amy Maynard: "Oh come on! Give that poor girl a break!"
Sir Figgles: "He tried to break her back with a baseball bat, does that count?"
Amy Maynard: "I just don't get it, whatever issues he had with Donovan Keane, I thought the Ambulance match solved it. What's the point in targeting Leia now?"
Sir Figgles: "You go ask him and see if he says anything!"

The office setting this time seems a little unusual even by the standards of Vincent Moretti. The local laundry mat has various things spinning on their washers as a couple of people wearing their protective masks are hustling around in the background. Meanwhile, the desk Vincent has in the center of it all(forcing people to walk around it of course) is the usual slightly cluttered mess as he rubs his temple as if he’s looking over something, just skimming over some files.
Vincent Moretti:
Uh-uh...nope. No…
Vincent has a scowl on his face as he then glances at the television. He had finally recovered some footage of Duke being attacked but it was so blurry that you really can’t tell anything and the people he’s studying are potential faces that could be behind the assault.
Vincent Moretti:
I doubt that’s a match either to be honest...damn it.
Vincent’s scowl creeps onto his face as he leans back on his chair and taps the desk with his free palm in frustration. It does seem like judging by the dark circles under his eyes he’s been working on this for a little while but his worries are continuing to multiply.
Vincent Moretti:
Wrestling and egos...they’re peanut butter and jelly. No matter the situation and you almost need to have one to survive at the end of the day. It doesn’t make narrowing the subject down any easier when one of the egos has the tendency to spout off everything like a teenaged degenerate rebelling against the system...but I can at least rule a number of people out now. If nothing else, that’s a relief.
Vincent leans back on his chair with a sigh as he rubs the sweat from his brow.
Vincent Moretti:
I guess the least I can do for now is enjoy the main event you know…I know Henri and Glory are two of the best in the game so I’ll enjoy it from a purist perspective but there’s just something lingering in my brain. Let’s just hope that lingering feeling is incorrect...
After letting out an exhale he glances at one of the washing machines and it is of a stuffed dog spinning around right next to him.
Vincent Moretti:
How much is that doggie in the window…
He sings that line horribly just as beeping goes off in the pod next to them. Vincent eyeballs it and just then realizes it’s overstuffed. The petite young woman coming in ignores the desk that’s near all of this and reaches for the handle. Vincent’s eyes go wide.
Vincent Moretti:
Please don’t open that do---
It’s too late, the door opens and the wet laundry pours all over the desk because it has indeed been too over crowded. Vincent winces at the water and the young woman looks horrified at this.
Vincent Moretti:
Damn it! Some of my notes are soaked and there’s a thong in my folder!
Random passerbyer:
That’s what she said! Ahahahahaha…
Vincent Moreti:
...This isn’t The Office.
Vincent scowls as the woman starts to apologize profusely as we fade from this.
Singles Match
Echo VS Tiny DesBack to the classic rules for the Invictus Champion Echo in this match against Tiny Des, and the young Australian started off strong, clobbering Destiny with some quick forearms to the face, sending her hard against the corner with an irish whip. As she charged, Tiny Des raised her boot to counter but the Australian blocked her foot and dragged her back in the middle of the ring, pushing her leg to the side and spinning her around, wrapping the arms around her waist for a snap german suplex. As Destiny got up to her feet, she was met by a kick to the gut from the blonde champion who then lifted the smaller opponent on her shoulders and dropped her down with a fireman’s carry slam. Destiny’s reaction came with her Leveler (counter leg lariar) and for a few minutes she seemed in control, pounding Echo with her series of running sentons for the first near fall of the match, followed moments later by the seconds one off a superkick/standing moonsault combo. But it all ended the moment she tried a running crossbody, getting caught and dropped onto the knee by the Invictus champion. Without the urgency dictated by the tempo and pace of an Invictus rules match, Echo seemed to enjoy a more relaxed rhythm, taking her time to show off with a stalling vertical suplex, parading around the ring while holding Tiny Des upside for an extended time. Perhaps too much, giving Figgins the chance to shift her bodyweight and land on her feet behind Echo, dragging her down on her knees with a backstabber. The blue haired took a short run at the ropes to kick the champion in the face with a shining wizard, followed by a frog splash into a cover for another count of two. The momentum was now on Tiny’s side, looking to end things with a superkick and the Fiery Illusion (front flip elbow drop), but Echo kicked out from it. And took matters back in her own hands, cutting the opponent in half with a wicked spear that left Tiny Des curled up in a ball in the middle of the ring. Echo picked her up and applied a full nelson before suplexing her to the mat and charging in with a running knee lift. She reached Des with more hard knees and kicks as she was leaning against the ropes, eventually whipping her to the opposite side and catching her with the Reverb, obtaining the win. WINNER: Echo BY: Pinfall (Reverb), 9:51 |
Amy Maynard: "It doesn't matter if it's Invictus or normal rules... Echo keeps dominating the competiton."
Sir Figgles: "No kidding, she's one of the most promising talents on this roster. She's born for this."

Riot cuts backstage where Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hayley Halsey is observing last Riot’s events on a monitor. She doesn’t appear to be amused in the slightest as she watches her first title defense end up in a DQ. Hayley herself doesn’t appear to be in a good mood in general as she stands up, turns off the footage from last Riot, and begins to express her thoughts.
Hayley Halsey:
Here comes the peanut gallery! One defense that didn’t exactly end the way I wanted to, and there’s the peanut gallery, chirping again, as if their opinions matter. Well, here’s the deal peanut gallery, your opinions DON’T matter because you’ve never attained the success that I’ve had in this business. I know that me winning my Super Glorious Championship was a big shock to the world considering that I was nothing but opening match fodder for what seemed like an eternity prior to joining the Golden Glorious Era and all, but are we REALLY going to hang onto that? Don’t answer that. Apparently, this is going to be the case and if that's the case then fine. I can prove you all wrong. I did it back at Dark Web when I won this championship to begin with. I’m not stupid. I know that winning this championship wasn’t going to suddenly win me respect with anyone… and for that I say… who cares?
Hayley shrugs, showing how little she thinks of her critics.
Hayley Halsey:
At the end of the day, I’m still a champion and Kristina Spencer isn’t… and that’s what matters. And speaking of peanut galleries and speaking of Kristina…
Hayley pauses and has a scoff to herself, almost as if she wants to laugh at Kristina’s plight recently.
Hayley Halsey:
You just can’t get rid of me, can you? Here you are, acting like you’re so far above me… wanting to pick fights with APE or anyone else who decides to disparage your hugely overrated cousin… and yet… you just can’t stay out of the ring against me, can you? I’m telling you, we probably have a rivalry going here… I mean, I swear to god, Kristina… that I’ve probably been in an MWE ring against you far more than I’ve been in there against anyone else. You know who you are starting to remind me of, Krissy? Leia LeBeau.
Yeah, you know who I am talking about right?
That piece of shit pain in the ass that was a thorn in my side for months… where I had to eat a whole lot of shit and be filled with rage the more and more she got promoted as the big deal she clearly isn’t? There’s a story here, Krissy… bear with me.
Once I finally got on the right track with my career and once I finally got Leia again… after she had previously humiliated and embarrassed me… I bested her… and she hasn’t been the same since.
Want the same thing to happen to you, Kristina?
Because I look at you and I see someone that tries SO hard to be RELEVANT… SO hard to be something… SO hard to be noticed by everyone else in MWE… particularly the big players... in a sense, you’re the Victoria Salinas of Riot because you’re both the same fucking shit! The BIG difference between Vicky and you is that at least she’s going places in this company even if she hasn’t gotten over the hump yet and knowing my old mentor like I do… as much as it sickens me to do this… I know she’s going to get over the hump because that’s what she does.
You?
APE isn’t even BOTHERING with you. They didn’t even interfere in our last encounter. Shows you how RELEVANT you really are, right?
You think you’re SO GOOD at what you do… when you’ll always be the lesser Spencer, the forgotten GCW Hall of Fame member… to the point where you’re not even going to acknowledge your partners… or even want anything to do with them because they’re NOT WORTHY of teaming with someone who wants to be SO HIGH AND MIGHTY when she’s just… forgotten…
And don’t worry, Brothers McMillon, I haven’t forgotten about you. You’re just in the crossfire as far as I’m concerned. I know my boys in the Golden Era have you both in check. When it’s all said and done… what’s going to be proven when the dust settles is why WE’RE all champions… and the three of you aren’t… nor will you be anytime soon if you continue to try and be better than us…
Hayley leaves the scene, satisfied with the way she spoke her mind. She’s maintaining some serious confidence as the scene fades out.
Singles Match
Brien Storm VS Pierce ManningThird time these two met in a Riot ring and in both occasions Brien Storm was the one walking out with the win. Once thanks to an assist from Henri Black, back in Japan while at Down Under he won the match via dq. Manning was all business tonight, determined to change the history between them. He punched that obnoxious cocky smirk off Brien’s face with a quick jab right on the bell, following with a series of european uppercuts. Before Storm could realize what was going on, he was already running toward the ropes, courtesy of an irish whip from Manning who then tackled him to the mat with a Thesz press and began punching his face with lefts and rights. Brien got free and rolled out of the ring to catch a breath, Pierce followed him and he was met by a kick to the stomach by the Captain who then drove him into the barricade, and began stomping him against it. At six, he finally picked him up and sent him against the apron, before rolling him back inside the ring and making a cover for a two count. The little trip outside allowed Storm to take control and set the course of the match in his favor, coming real close to walk out with the win after a snap dragon suplex. Pierce kicked out in two and tried to fight back, wearing Brien down with forearms and a jumping knee to the face, sending him stumbling back into the corner. A splash attempt was countered with a kick to the mush by the Favorite Worst Nightmare, who was then quick to drop him on the middle turnbuckle with a reverse STO. Once again Brien was in control, but this time it didn’t last long as Manning was quick to take the matters back in his hands with a jawbreaker, following with the hangman’s neckbreaker. Brien was down but he managed to kick out in two. Pierce was feeling the momentum on his side, hitting the Captain with a flurry of kicks before grabbing him for his rotating belly to belly suplex slam. Once again Storm raised his shoulder in time managing to sneak in a low blow, unseen by the referee who was distracted by Constable’s complaints about a slow count. He tried to capitalize with a quick cradle, but it wasn’t enough to keep Pierce down for three seconds. The Favorite Worst Nightmare picked the member of the Establishment up and lifted him on his shoulders ready to deliver the Unforecasted Storm but Manning slipped away and quickly lifted him onto his back for the To Be The Man (Gory neckbreaker) obtaining his first win against Storm. WINNER: Pierce Manning BY: Pinfall (To Be The Man), 11:14 |
Amy Maynard: "Third time's a charm, Pierce Manning finally beat Brien Storm"
At that point, the Man asked for a microphone, saying that management may have forgotten, or perhaps they're just trying to ignore it... But he didn't forget beating Echo in an Invictus rules match. His speech was interrupted by "Wild Eyes" by Parkway Drive, and out came the Invictus champion herself, the title laying on her shoulder. She quickly pointed out that she remembers the match, and how he won it. After a brief pause, she concluded her short speech saying that if he wants to try his luck once again, she's not hard to find. But next time, he may not enjoy the ending as much as he did last time.

Angst. Frustration. These fill the air as “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock stands back in her dressing room area of the backstage of the arena. Why is the beautiful blonde so upset? She failed to capture the SCW Television Championship Wednesday, now she’s walking into match one of a best of five series against Henri Black in MWE Riot; a series she feels is completely unnecessary. And based upon the expression on her lovely face, it appears as if she is going to make that perfectly clear.
Glory Braddock:
Tonight is a farce. This best of five series should not even be taking place because I was the one who pinned the Riot Champion. Therefore video evidence be damned I have the bigger and better case for being the one true legitimate Riot Champion. But if that’s how Vincent wishes to do business then so be it. He’s only delaying the inevitable. Whether it happens in a clean sweep, by match four, or if it goes the distance, if it goes to match five, I will make things right by becoming the new Riot Champion.
The British Bombshell’s stoic gaze remains as she glares deep into the camera.
Glory Braddock:
Here we go again, right Henri? This seems to never end and who knows? Maybe it never will end? Perhaps we are destined to fight forever as they say? To be honest with you, you are one of the toughest opponents I have met. You always bring out the best in me. But as you should know, when you talk about the best, then you start with The Best in the World. You start with me.
Braddock points to herself.
Glory Braddock:
This is match one. How will it turn out? Whoever does win will have all of the momentum to begin this series. But no matter who wins tonight, the end result of this whole thing will be the same.
The British Bombshell raises her hand high over her head, smirking confidently.
Glory Braddock:
Me...Glory Braddock...the new Riot Champion. You’re welcome.
Trios Match
Glorious Golden Era (Golden Era & Hayley Halsey) VS Brothers McMillion & Kristina Spencer
This trio match started with an all-out brawl: The reason? Kristina didn’t take lightly the fact that Hailey raised the Junior Heavyweight Championship in her face to taunt her, and reacted with a Wicked Hand, a punch straight to the heart. As Halsey dropped down, Kyle and Neal obviously didn’t hesitate to blast Spencer and the Brothers McMillion, Christian more reluctantly than Javen joined in, taking on the Tag Team Champions. Simon against Neal, CM trading hands with Butler, all this before the match even started. When Hayley finally recovered, she raked Christian’s back, causing him to turn around and getting caught in a waistlock by Kyle, who then used the momentum of the Junior Heavyweight champion’s superkick to suplex him to the canvas. The Southern Heartthrob rolled out of the ring, Hayley quickly joined him as Kristina clotheslined her while Kyle and Neal were double teaming Javen. And then the Wicked One went to help her tag team partner, jumping on Neal’s back and wrapping his arms around his neck in a sleeper hold. In the attempt to get free, walked back against the corner, but this didn’t get him free from Spencer’s grasp. Kristina eventually let him go when he fell on his knees, weakened by the prolonged pressure on the trachea, and charged at Kyle, who back body dropped her out of the ring. Javen got back to his feet in that exact moment and threw Butler out, remaining alone in the ring with Newman. The referee knew this was his best chance to get the match started and, after checking on the tag champion, finally ordered for the bell to ring. Neil was still in difficulty, short of breath and trying to recover and Javen easily took control, pushing him back to the ropes with a series of chops and then sending him to the opposite side of the ring with an Irish whip to catch him with a leg lariat on the rebound. Down went the tag champion, and Simon kept him there by wrapping his legs around his neck and reaching behind for his brother in the corner. Christian made the tag and climbed to the top rope, jumping on Newman with a frog splash. The trio kept control through the early minutes, keeping constant pressure on Neal with quick tags, isolating him in their half of the ring. Christian and Kristina seemed to have smoothed over their differences and were working like a well oiled machine. A flapjack from CM right into a double knee facebreaker from the former Junior Heavyweight champion took out Neil, but Kyle was quick to make the save. Newman eventually found the opening he needed when he moved out of the way avoiding Spencer’s A Wicked Good Time. The moonsault double knee drop found nobody home, and thing got even worse for her when the tag champion hit her with a kick to the face. Things took a whole different turn now that Butler was in the ring. Kyle cleaned house, sending Krissy against the turnbuckle with a belly-to-belly suplex and charging at Simon, knocking him down with a big boot. Christian swung a punch but Butler ducked it and pulled Michaels inside the ring. After a few uppercuts, he whipped him against the unaware Spencer who only now was getting up to her feet, knocking both of them down. Then he launched CM over the top rope, picking up the Wicked and planting her on the canvas with the Roooooooolllllll TIDE! He made the cover with Javen grabbing his boot and pulling him out of the ring. This was the pretext for Hayley to jump on Javen with a meteora from the apron and suffer the instant revenge of Christian who lifted her for a brainbuster on the outside. CM found himself double teamed by the Golden Era until Kristina took out everyone with a diving senton to the outside. As everyone was laying on the floor, REDD Thunder and Alan Envy walked to the ring, obviously with the worst intentions. Christian and Javen pulled themselves up, ready to receive the APE delegation. Tonight though, they weren’t their target. The Walking Disaster ran through Neal and Hayley, taking them down with a double clothesline while Alan powerbombed Butler on the apron. WINNER: Glorious Golden Era BY: DQ, 6:31 |

With only two matches left on tonight’s card, this episode of Riot is drawing to a conclusion. Before the main event, the first encounter between Henri Black and Glory Braddock in their best of five series for the vacant Riot Championship, the fans will be witnessing the MWE World Champion in tag team action against alongside his APE co-founder Duke Andrews against the team of Kelsey Spencer and Nina. The camera finds the Chicago born pacing back and forth in the hallway backstage. She looks nervous, and rightfully so especially knowing that REDD Thunder and Alan Envy are in the building, and will likely interfere in this match too, should their partners need it.
But that’s not the only thing that seems to be her only concern, although her unintelligible mumbling makes it hard to understand what’s really going through the Viper’s mind.
Her partner for the evening walks by. It's not the ordinary display we're used to seeing out of the usually outgoing Kelsey Spencer, as she too appears to have a lot on her mind.
She pauses by Nina's side, shoulders slouched, silently studying her for a moment.
Kelsey Spencer:
Something on your mind?
Nina:
Hey Kel…
The former intern forces a smile as she notices the Australian coming her way.
Nina:
It’s nothing really… I just don’t like the idea of fighting a friend, and even though I don’t agree with the things he has done.. I can’t forget what Duke did when I got fired. Or the good times we had
Kelsey seems a little disgusted at the mention of her husband's former best friend's name. She runs a hand through her hair, brushing it back from her face as she lets out a sigh.
Kelsey Spencer:
Yeah, I know how you feel. Fighting rivals is tough, but fighting your friends is even tougher. Usually, I like to think of it as a competition… a test to see whose skills are the best. But, you know… when it comes to APE, they aren't really interested in healthy competition, so…
She shrugs and leans against the wall.
Nina:
Yeah, what they’ve been doing to you, to Christian and Javen and everyone else for all that matters… That’s not right. It’s just…
She interrupts her train of thoughts to glance at Kelsey, perhaps only now realizing that her feelings for Duke are completely opposite.
Nina:
I’m sorry… I promise you that this will not get in the way tonight. Once the bell rings, all this will disappear, I’m sure. I know why Vincent picked me for this, I’ll have your back out there.
Kelsey stays silent for a moment, then nods softly.
Kelsey Spencer:
I know you will. And I know it must sound like I don't really trust you. I haven't given you a reason to think any different, and I'm sorry for that. A lot of it is on me, trying to figure out where I fit into this crazy industry. If this promotion - this sport - is the right thing for me anymore.
She looks from the floor to her tag team partner.
Kelsey Spencer:
I've been watching you, though. It'd be foolish not to. It's not every day you see someone your age, with your experience level, showing so much talent and potential. That's rare. We may not be that close personally, but for what it's worth, I do trust you. And I'm happy I get to have you as my partner out there tonight.
Kelsey’s words seem to have a positive effect on Nina, cheering her up and instilling some confidence in her.
Nina:
Thanks, that means a lot. I’ll try not to let you down.
She takes a short pause, staring at her partner.
Nina:
And I get what you’re trying to say. Seems to be happening to a lot of people lately. I’m new to this industry, I’m barely getting my feet wet we can say. But I’m starting to see the toll it takes, how all the hard work seems to go to waste when there are people like Constantine who get away with pretty much everything…
Taking a step forward, Nina places her hand on Kelsey’s shoulder.
Nina:
I can’t answer your question for you. Only you can say if this is the right thing for you anymore. But what I can say is that this business needs more people like you. This company needs YOU.
A faint semblance of a smile appears through Kelsey's sombre expression.
Kelsey Spencer:
Thanks, Nina. Means a lot to hear that.
She pushes herself off the wall and half turns away.
Kelsey Spencer:
Well, you ready to go out there and take the fight to these guys?
Nina nods, moving next to Kelsey as the pair begins to walk.
Nina:
You damn right I am! C'mon now, time to go APE hunting!
Tag Team Match
Kelsey Spencer & Nina VS Chris Constantine Junior & Duke Andrews
As she saw that Duke was the one starting the match for APE, Kelsey patted Nina on the shoulder and told her that she will be the one starting the match, well aware that the Snakebite wasn’t too comfortable fighting who she considered a friend. For Kelsey instead it was very different, this was the man who almost ended her husband’s career, not to mention one of the main reason why she’s not the World champion right now. The pair locked up in a collar and elbow tie, and Duke power advantage immediately came into play as he forced Kelsey against the ropes. The referee asked for a clean break which was granted by the Epitome Of Perfection, except then he immediately and unsurprisingly went for a chop. Spencer saw that coming well in advance and ducked the blow, punching the former Lockdown champion in the ribs, starting a series of swift kicks to the legs that brought Duke to a knee. She followed with a low dropkick, getting back to her feet with a kip-up and her cartwheel legdrop, making the cover for the first pinfall attempt of the match A thumb to the eye is always an effective way to turn the tables, and Duke showed no qualms in taking the shortcut, following with a snap suplex. He floated into a mounting position and hit Kelsey with a series of punches to the face, He made the tag to Constantine who entered the ring and stomped Kelsey, giving another quick tag to Duke who added in a few stomps himself. before dragging her back to her feet and whipping her in the corner. Another tag, but before CCJ could enter the ring, Kelsey hit him with an elbow to the face, ducking Duke’s right hand and connecting a chin breaker. Nina was waiting across the ring, and Spencer tried to reach her but Duke grabbed her foot and caused her to trip. Constantine entered the ring and curbstomped Kelsey, making the cover just as the referee turned around, Nina rushed in to save her partner with a dive. Spencer’s never give up attitude helped her finding yet another opening, stunning the world champion with an enziguri kick and finally reaching her corner. Nina seemed to have no issues taking on Constantine, hitting him with those swift martial arts kicks, finishing her sequence with a spinning kick that was a thing of beauty. Chris went down like a ton of bricks, but still had enough left to raise a shoulder in two. The fight went on with the founder of APE unleashing a fury of strikes, most of them dodged by Nina who proved, once again, to be one of the best counter wrestlers in the company, catching Constantine’s arm in a wristlock and taking him down with a sweep kick. She went for a jumping knee drop, but CCJ rolled out of the way and, after knocking her down with a kick to the face, made the tag to Duke. Nina froze as Andrews entered the ring, staring at him. A moment of hesitation the veteran didn’t have, turning her inside out with a clothesline. He sort of apologized though, stating that it was just business. This didn’t make his blows any softer, nor he held anything back when he hit the young girl with the Killshot. This time it was Kelsey’s turn to save her partner. Once she won that initial mental block that was holding her back, Nina found a way to create some troubles to Duke, blocking one of his punches and hitting him with a devastating kick to the side, doubling over the veteran and following with a scissor kick. Wisely she made the tag to Kelsey, who tried to put Duke down for good with a running single leg dropkick right to the face. And yet, it wasn’t enough to keep Michigan’s Favorite Son down. The action went on, back and forth hard hitting strikes, a style that clearly favored Andrews, now ready to nail Kelsey with the Andrews Effect. But the Australian caught him with a reverse rana and almost scored the win. A dazed Duke kicked out and charged at Kelsey with a massive clothesline turning her inside out and pretty much collapsing next to her, too worn out to even make the cover. Slowly, they began crawling to the respective corners, and the last couple of minutes saw, once again, Nina and CCJ going at it. The Chicago born scored a near fall after the Sting (Fedor casting punch) caught Constantine straight on the jaw and almost knocked him out. At the very last second though, the World champion kicked out. And as the match was drawing to a conclusion, his experience and sneakiness allowed him to turn the tides. Playing possum on the ropes, he lured Nina in and dropped her on the top rope with a stun gun, kicking her in the stomach as she stumbled back toward him and nailing her with the American Strong Piledriver. Duke was still laying on the floor outside, exhausted, and Kelsey could’ve made the save, if it wasn’t for Olivia hanging on her leg and causing her to waste precious moments, breaking up the pin a fraction of seconds too late. WINNER: APE BY: Pinfall (American Strong Piledriver), 15:42 |
Amy Maynard: "Another win for APE"
Sir Figgles: "Did you have any doubt, Amy?"
Amy Maynard: "Honestly? In more than one occasion it seemed like Kelsey and Nina could get the job done."
Sir Figgles: "Did you have any doubt, Amy?"
Amy Maynard: "Honestly? In more than one occasion it seemed like Kelsey and Nina could get the job done."
Sir Figgles:"Pfft.. Keep dreaming, Amy."
We cut to a segment recorded early Saturday morning inside of a private gym with weights, a treadmill and a pair of sandbags visible hanging from the ceiling and Henri Black wearing a singlet and shorts unloading a series of heavy blows on the larger of the two before stopping to take a pull from a water bottle.
Henri Black:
So Glory Braddock wants us to thank her for defeating Devin Hearst and not only that but she seems to think that she’s the sole reason that he is no longer the Riot champion, and sure she may have pinned the man at Dark Web but that overlooks one simple and undeniable truth, If she had not pinned Devin, or been even a split second slower in doing so, I would still have pinned Jenni Anderson. Devin Hearst would STILL have lost his championship. And I would be standing here as the new Riot champion.
Henri sets his water back down and turns back to his workout, delivering a roundhouse kick that sends the heavy back swinging.
Henri Black:
She also proclaimed herself to be in possession of my “number”. And while I will readily admit my record against Glory is far from stellar, there are some rather extenuating circumstances to take into account. Our first bout ended in a no-contest thanks to the Establishment. Our second ended in Glory’s victory after Butler and Newman put in an appearance, in fact, our only clean finish came a week after I suffered a knee injury thanks to Devin and the Badlands, though that’s hardly a valid excuse, bravo for finally doing the work yourself on that one Glory.
Henri opens up a flurry of punches, elbows, back fists, and knee strikes on the bag before speaking again.
Henri Black:
I wonder, however, can you beat me tonight, at 100%, without any help from your trio of brown-nosed acolytes? No attacks, no distractions, without even having them at ringside or so much as playing their theme music? Because I honestly don't think you can… I will give you some credit though, you were right on precisely one count, People will remember this best of five series forever but what they will remember most of all is that when the dust settled the only person left standing, the undisputed Riot Champion…
Henri delivers a kick to the sandbag.
Henri Black:
Was Henri…
Another kick.
Henri Black:
...Fucking...
A third kick.
Henri Black:
...BLACK!!!
With a fourth and final strike, Henri turns to the camera, breathing heavily.
Henri Black:
Let’s get started, shall we?
Riot Championship Best Of Five Series Match
Match One: One Fall
Henri Black VS Glory BraddockMatch One: One Fall
Amy Maynard: “A best of five series to determine the new Riot champion, and it starts tonight.” Sir Figgles: “I admit I wasn’t a straight-a student but… We have two more Riots after this show, right? And then the pay-per-view. That makes four matches, not five..:” Amy Maynard: “You’re not wrong, but… First of all, five matches could not even be necessary. It could end 3-0 or 3-1 as well. And if does need the fifth match, I guess they will use night two of the next ppv to settle this” Sir Figgles: “Whatever miss smarty-pants…” Henri and Glory already know one another quite well, and yet the match started with a long phase of study. The stakes were high, even though the title wasn’t on the line, a win tonight would put one of them on the driver’s seat, and with the chance of choosing the next stipulation. Henri tested the waters with some light kicks to the sides, Glory tried his reflexes with some quick jabs to the face, dodged by the Blackstar. This dance between the two of them came to a conclusion when Braddock tried a more convinced punch and Black dodged it, grabbing her arm in a wrist lock and yanking at it to drag her to the mat. Maintaining control on her hand, Black went for an armbar, but Glory managed to reach the ropes and save herself. Amy Maynard: “Both competitors are feeling the pressure of this first match.” Sir Figgles: “So that’s why they are pussyfooting around instead than beating the crap out of one another?” Amy Maynard: “You mean why they’re being cautious, trying to avoid making mistakes and give the opponent an advantage?” Sir FIggles: “Now you’re making it sound like the right thing to do.” The match eventually did pick up, with Henri getting on the driver’s seat thanks to his hard strikes breaching through the Best In The World’s defense. Glory was pushed back against the ropes, from where Black sent her to the opposite side with an irish whip and caught her with an incredibly quick scoop powerslam as she rebounded back. The high impact move only earned him a two count, but forced Braddock to an early retreat to the outside. Henri decided to follow her there and kept the pressure with some forearm to the face. whipping Glory toward the steel steps. The British Bombshell jumped over them and smirked at Henri, who ran around the corner to chase her. But Braddock immediately slid back in the ring and hit the ropes on the opposite side, catching Henri with a baseball slide and sending him against the commentator’s table. Sir FIggles: “Hey, careful with my table!” Glory used the count to inflict more punishment to Henri, smashing his head on the table. Figgles didn’t seem too happy with it and barked at her, but Glory ignored his jabbering, dragging Henri back in the ring and making a cover after a slingshot senton. Black kicked out in two and immediately found himself locked in a side headlock. Henri easily got back to his feet and tried to escape but Glory transitioned into a russian legsweep and took him back to the canvas, this time wrapping his legs like a pretzel in an elaborate leglock. It took the Australian a little while but he eventually managed to wrestle his way out of it. Amy Maynard: “This match is certainly not disappointing those who expected this to be a very technical contest.” Sir Figgles: “Yeah but what about bringing out the big guns, guys?” Ask and you shall receive, the intensity suddenly changed when Henri grabbed the opponent with a waistlock and hit his triple german suplex. Glory stood up a bit dazed after the third consecutive suplex, stumbling right into a superkick from Black who quickly hooked the leg and obtained a near fall. The Best In The World fought back, catching the Revenant with a barrage of kicks and forearms that took the former Progress champion off guard. She ended her sequence with a roundhouse to the head, knocking down the Blackstar. Braddock climbed to the top rope and jumped off for her headbutt called London Plunge, but all she got from this was a two and a bit of dizziness. Sir Figgles: “This might be the dumbest move I’ve seen tonight. Why do something that hurts you as well?” She recovered quickly tho, faster than her opponent. And she went back to attack him with those pinpoint kicks that turned out to be so effective so far. Except this time Henri ducked the one aimed to the head and swept her legs with a low kick, immediately locking the British Bombshell in a heel hook. The grip was tight, Glory’s foot twisted medially to put pressure on her ankle and knee. And despite her technical prowess and her ability as a submissionist, she couldn’t find a way to escape or counter it. Her only hope was to reach the ropes, who looked so far away now. Slowly and stubbornly, she pushed through the pain and dragged herself toward salvation. A titanic effort that did pay out when she grabbed the bottom rope and broke up the submission, clutching and massaging the injured limb once Black let her go, obviously not before he exploited the full count. Sir Figgles: “Braddock is going to feel that for the rest of the match. Although, I doubt she can last much longer.” Amy Maynard: “Black has really done a number to that leg, preparing the ground for his Memento Mori, his grapevine ankle lock. Should he manage to lock that one in, he might get the win in this first match.” And that was clearly his gameplan, trying to grab the leg and take Glory down to finish her off with his most lethal submission. Braddock knew it as well and kept her guard up, careful not to offer the opponent even the slightest opening, fending him off with quick jabs one of which hit the Australian on the throat. As he was catching his breath, Glory connected a neckbreaker and attempted a quick cover, hooking the leg for a two count. She kept control even after that, despite the leg obviously bothering her to the point that she was visibly limping. This didn’t stop her from trying to win the match with the Gloria In Excelsis Deo, a codebreaker on that injured knee that took from her almost as much as it did on Henri. A sacrifice she was willing to do to win the match, slowly dragging herself on top of the Blackstar who barely kicked out right before the three, leaving the Best In The World to wonder what would have happened if only she could make the cover faster. Sir Figgles: “Head in the game, Braddock. There’s no time for dwelling on what ifs…” Glory was already back on the attack, trying to set the opponent up for The Glorification. The Blackstar resisted the unprettier attempt and pushed the opponent against the ropes and beheaded her with a wicked clothesline on the rebound, immediately following with the Black Diamond. Hayley Halsey ran down the ramp as Henri made the cover, obtaining the nearest of falls. The referee noticed the Junior Heavyweight champion’s attempt to interfere and tried to stop her. A veteran like Black, who saw and did everything in his career, suspected that something wasn’t right and turned around, finding Neal Newman in front of him. What he couldn’t see was Kyle Butler blindsiding him and planting him on his head with a quick Roooooooooollllll TIDE! The Golden Era quickly left the ring, while Glory made the cover just as the referee turned around and counted to three. WINNER: Glory Braddock BY: Pinfall (Roooooooooollll TIDE!), 18:06 |
Amy Maynard:
The first round goes to Glory, but not without controversy!
Sir Figgles:
Yeah, do you think anybody cares?
Amy Maynard:
Henri surely does. And I believe Vincent Moretti isn't too happy either.
Sir Figgles:
And what are they going to do, huh? Glory is 1-0, and she gets to pick the next match. That's a big advantage.
Amy Maynard:
It definitely is... Anyway, time's up Figgles. Say goodnight to our fans and see you all next Saturday.
Sir Figgles:
Yeah, what she said.
