The scene opens inside of a gym. Sitting on a black steel folding chair with an Octagon style cage behind him is Neil Newman. He has on black short, a black sleevless t-shirt. He looks deadpan into the camera.
Neil Newman: When my wife told Jessica that Kyle and I made our names at her and Jessica's expense, I found it odd she would use that to try to justify the plan she came up with that led to this triple threat situation at Dark Web. In the business world where she dabbles in, doing whatever it takes to put yourself on the map seems like a good idea. Many wrestlers subscribe to the same philosophy. What name did me and Kyle make for ourselves exactly? Were we looked at as the greatest tag team of the modern or golden era?”
Neil shakes his head.
Neil Newman: “Kyle and I were looked at as male chauvinist. If we tried to force women to become our cheerleaders today, we would be CANCELED. The Golden Era were viewed as sexist. Chauvinist. Out of touch. We had a terrible reputation. No one cared about what we did in the ring. Our actions mattered. Are Kyle and I proud of the name we made at their expense?”
“No.”
“WE worked our asses off to overcome that stigma. We became Hall of Famers in GCW. Had a pretty lengthy reign as the tag team champions. It took hard work, a rededication to our craft to earn the reputation as one of the best tag teams on the planet. No one really brings up what happened that led to Kyle and I marrying some of the most dedicated women we are blessed to know anymore.”
Neil smirks for a second. The smirk disappears.
Neil Newman: “BUT the fact remains they choose to come to MWE. We didn't come here looking to expand our realm of tag team dominance. Being in the MWE Tag Team Tournament reminded Kyle and I of the magic we could create again like the good ole days. I lost my passion for the sport. Kyle called me up, told me about the tournament, I was hesitant at first. Told him pro wrestling wasn't worth it anymore. I hated the way this sport had “evolved.” With enough prodding I relented. We stuck around in MWE out of the purity to do what we do best. We aligned with Glory simply because our views of professional wrestling are the same. This sport needs to be cleaned up. In most companies the tag team division is neglected. Because of us? The rebirth of MWE's tag team division has been a sight to behold. Think about it, it took two outsiders to force this division to evolve. Kyle and I are proud of that accomplishment. The only thing left to do is to become champions.”
Neil places his hand over his heart.
Neil Newman: “We are not doing this out of sheer want. The tag division is in desperate need of leadership. The Brothers McMillion couldn't deliver. The BreeTee Committee are more known for their Oreo fetish and staring on Batgirl,Woman, whatever, than being the leaders this division needs. Our wives, as talented as they are, they made their intentions clear. They are more interested in winning the MWE Tag Team Titles to promote their Fabulous brand than being the leaders the division needs. And that's fine, Kyle and I have no problem with that. We will always support them. We can sleep better at night with them being champions over BreeTee. As God as my witness, if our wives win the tag titles, we won't pursue them.”
Neil takes a breath to let his statement resonate with the viewing audience.
Neil Newman: “That's the other thing my wife got wrong. She claimed we would do the same thing they did to get here. That's not true. Kyle and I are men of honor. We would not go out of our way to stand in our wives way. They made that decision signing with MWE. They also made a decision to shoehorn their way into the one on one match WE wanted with BreeTee. Actions speak louder. Kyle and I will forsake our quest IF our wives win, that is the type of men they married.”
“We can't say the same about them, can we?”
Neil shrugs.
Neil Newman: “They shouldn't feel guilty. At Dark Web, we won't. Kyle and I will do whatever it takes to win.”
The camera zooms int. All we see is Neil's crystal blue intense eyes.
Neil Newman: “Whatever. It. Takes.”
