Scene 1: "Phase One"
Place: New York City
Time: Many months ago.
:It was a cloudy day in New York City, Chris Spade had just successfully defended the Blood & Nations World Championship against Slamsley McBody. Chris was beat. He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone as he brushed by everyone backstage. When he approached his locker room, he noticed the door was slightly open. This made Spade nervous. Spade slowly opened the door to see a young but well dressed man sitting on the bench before him. He wore shade even inside the building and in his hand was an old copy of the bible. He stood up smirking to himself as he extended a hand out to Spade. Spade looked down at his hand then back to him.:
“Pleasure to meet you champ, I’ve heard a lot about you. I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time or anything.”
Roderick looked at the champ keeping his hand extended to him.
“Wait, who are you? And how did you get in here?”
Chris whips the sweet off his face with a towel he had around his neck. He would check his hand as he looked at him unsure who he was or why he was in his locker room.
“I’m glad to know you heard a lot about me. So what can I do for you? You want an Autograph or something? Wait, I see you have a bible, you not a bible salesman are you? If you are, you picked a weird place to sell those."
He looks at him with a smirk on his face. Thinking he was being a little funny.
Roderick chuckled to himself. This guy has jokes he thought but he was here for a purpose and wasn’t going to leave without completing said purpose.
“No I wouldn’t be selling you anything. That would be wasting my time and your time. The real reason why I’m here today is to ask you for your teachings. You see my message needs to be heard around the world. My children from every corner of the globe NEEDS to walk down the path of enlightenment. I can help them. You can help me accomplish this. I have worked around the Indy scene for a couple of years now but I need to improve. That’s where you come in.”
Roderick was a bold young man. He didn't have a choice. What happened in his past left him no other choice but to adapt to survive, even if it means stabbing anyone close to your heart.
“So what I’m asking of you is to become my mentor or teacher of sorts. Show me things in professional wrestling that can give me the edge against more of these hot young stars trying to break into the business. What do you say champ? Do you think you have it in you to take on The Blue Print of pupils?”
Roderick asked Chris with determination in his voice as he pulled out a chair for himself and sat back down. He wasn’t sure how Spade would react to something like this but he knew it couldn’t hurt to try.
Spade sits down himself in another chair, he sits quickly as he was thinking about the situation as he for one has never done anything like that before. He takes a deep breath.
“So let me get this straight, you want me to mentor you. Well, that is something to think about, I mean with everything I have done in my career I be honest, mentoring anybody would be a first. Look kid, I may not be all in on this, I’m not even sure what to call it, all this children stuff and praise Jebus or whatever it is that you do. What you do outside of the ring, isn’t really my business. However, I am willing to maybe give it a shot.”
Spade looks at him with a serious look on his face as he pauses for a moment. Before Roderick could respond he said something else.
“Now as you asked this from me, you better be willing to listen and not be here to waste my time. You see, I am a very busy man. So my time is very valuable. With that being said, Tell me something about you. What should I know about you.”
He looks at him wondering who he is and what he is getting himself into.
“Who am I? I’m Roderick Kross. I’m going to take this sport by storm one way or another. I plan on looking around for companies within the coming months. I just figured a man with the career you’ve had would be a good fit for the job. Besides it would make for great segment work.”
Roderick waves at the camera but when Spade looks around there is no camera. He tilts his head and laughs a bit.
“You see that this is destined to happen. All your success can be passed down to me and you can watch me take down every single person that’s placed before me. I shall make every single one of those bitches tap out or break their body trying. I’ve seen and experienced very dark things during my childhood in Dublin, Ireland but here in America, I know my reign will be never ending. So what do you say Spade? Are you going to take this one in a lifetime chance or are you going to shove me aside and regret it for the rest of your life?”
Roderick looks on and takes his shades off.
“I’m dead fucking serious about this. You NEED to help me. I NEED your help. Don’t be another one of those veteran talent that is afraid to show the rookie a thing or two. Don't be afraid of me taking your spotlight. There is enough of it to go around. So I ask you again, what is your answer?”
Roderick looks on with a serious look in his eyes. It was almost like he was ready to pounce if he heard the wrong answer.
Spade looks at him as he stares a hole right at him. Spade says nothing for a second as he whips more sweat off his face and tosses the towel off to the side. He picks up his belt as he looks at him.
“Look, stop staring at me like that, I’m not a big mack. Listen I don’t “NEED” to help you. And I’m not sure what you were waving at either but that’s besides the point here. I’m also not afraid of anybody taking my “spot” hell I know my days are almost over as it is. Now, I’m going to say this, when I was breaking in you now how much advice or mentoring I got in my career? Do you?"
He looks at him with almost the same stare he was giving him.
“I tell you, NONE. I had to learn by getting my ass kicked by those veterans. I hate to scratch, claw, and kick my way to the top. So let this be my first listen to you, remember these words if anything else. Everyone is going to try and break you. Tell you things like you not good enough and that you should quit. Trust me, you are going to hear it more times than not in any damn locker room. That's just how it is, the point is never and I mean never no matter how hard things may seem to be, never let them get to you. Never give up and never quit. So I guess you got yourself a mentor because I will do something nobody did for me. That is give back to the business that pretty much gave me a life.”
He puts his hand out to shake on it.
Roderick goes and shakes Spade’s hand. Both men stood up after the handshake. Roderick was very pleased with how this meeting of sorts went down. He finally got the mentor he needed to help him propel his career into the next stage of it’s evolution. They stopped shaking hands as Roderick puts his shade back on and fixes his suit.
“Well this has been a very productive meeting. I also agree with you on what you said. People are only looking out for themselves. They don’t want to help young talent grow and help grow this business. I will never quit, that isn’t in my nature. So with that being said, I believe you’ll text me when the first training session will happen?”
Roderick asked as he picked up his bible.
Spade smiles as he looks at him.
“Sooner the better, I have a match in a couple of days in MSG just over the river. After that be ready for a trip to Los Angeles at the end of the week. I can get a gym with a ring and a couple of Jabronis you can beat on to practice with. The key is to always be ready mentally and physically. Until then, I’ll see you around. Now if you will excuse me. I’m going to take a shower and I don’t need an audience."
*He says with a smirk on his face.*
With that Spade walked away and as the camera faded to black, we saw a small smirk appear on his face. We end with Roderick saying to himself.
“Phase One complete”
