It's no longer a surprise to spot Deyanira Connolly working out in the early hours of the morning, and not even on the day after Thanksgiving she took exception. Unsurprisingly, she was working on her lower extremities' strength, pushing weight on a leg press machine to keep her greatest weapons sharp and deadly.
Taking advantage of the quiet of the morning, there was literally nobody else in the gym at this time, Connolly could speak freely on the phone with her family elthough in all honesty she didn't seem too thrilled.
Deyanira Connolly:
Yes mom, I'm still following the diet Doc Martin gave me. I think the lunch lady hates me for that, she has to come up with a specific menu just for me every time but it is what it is. I'll get her a nice present for Christmas to make up for the bother.
She rolled her eyes as her mom spoke on the other side of the line.
Deyanira Connolly:
I know that's her job and she's getting paid for it, but still... No, no cheat days.. Well, except for yesterday since it was Thanksgiving and Dane prepared us the traditional meal. No, Dane Mitchell. He's another student, he used to work in catering or something but decided to follow his dream and joined The Academy. Because, you know, it's pretty common of kids my age to dream of becoming a pro-wrestler...
Her expression suddenly changed, her jaw dropping in an expression of utter shock.
Deyanira Connolly:
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?
She blurted out, immediately realizing the mistake she had made.
Deyanira Connolly:
I'm sorry mom, I didn't mean that... But you can't sue The Academy for that! It's not like they let some hobo mess with the food, Dane is a real chef and I'm sure he respected every rules about hygiene and safety. Laura was literally there too, so cut the crap and...
Again that expression of someone who knows they fucked up. She squeezed her eyes, painfully listening to her mother yelling in her ears. Then, all of a sudden, the look on her face turned into one of disbelief. Deyanira began to shake her head.
Deyanira Connolly:
No, come on now you can't pull me out.. I didn't mean to disrespect you, I'm just... I'm pushing myself to the limit, perhaps stretching myself a bit too thin. That's why I haven't come home in months, I'm training every day, even in the weekends, because I want this to work for me. I don't just want to be a wrestler, I want to be THE BEST. My mentality is still the...
She stopped mid sentence, letting out a long sigh.
Deyanira Connolly:
Fine, I'll see when he's free... Yeah, see you soon... Love ya and dad...
As soon as the call ended, Deyanira would remove the earpiece from her ears and throw it across the room. Her hands reached to her head, pulling off the headband she was wearing and throwing it on the floor.
Deyanira Connolly:
... Fuck
She mouthed off as she stood up from the machine, her hands clenched in fists of rage. Taking a deep breath to recollect herself, she picked up her things and walked away.
Taylor Wheeler:
I knew I'd find you here.
The Academy coach, unaware of what just happened, greeted her with a smile as he entered the gym.
Taylor Wheeler:
Marissa asked me to work with you today. We'll go through some basic stuff, adding some depth to your moveset..
Deyanira Connolly:
No...
She said as she walked past him without even a glance up. Her eyes downcast, her voice seemingly had a tremble to it, clearly audible even in the short syllable she spoke. She didn't even head to the locker room, heading straight out of the gym and slamming her door on her way out, leaving Taylor dumbfounded.
Singles Match
Dane Mitchell VS Hikari Sakazaki
- Hikari's potential is there for anyone to see, her intensity was fully on display tonight with a flurry of kicks that forced Dane to retreat outside the ring. Trying to keep the pressure on The Chef, Hikari sprinted to the ropes and went for a baseball slide, pushing Mitchell back into the barricade.
- The two fought outside the ring for a while, Dane seemingly getting the upper hand after managing to throw the Japanese head first into the steel post. Just as quickly he lost the advantage when Hikari ducked his chop, causing his hand to hit the cold steel. The cook was clutching his arm in pain and didn't even realize that Sakazaki was pointing him from the apron, taking aim for a cannonball senton.
- Back between the ropes, the Japanese looked in control, slowing down the pace and working the opponent on the ground. Her attacks focused on his hand and wrist with joint manipulation techniques that would make it hard for Dane to prepare his culinary delicacies. Locking him in a seated armbar, Hikari added extra pressure by bending the wrist backward, causing Mitchell to groan in pain. Still, he refused to give up.
- The tenacious Chef bit the bullet and pushed through the pain, finding a way out of that dangerous predicament by reaching the ropes. Hikari quickly let him go, taking a couple of steps back to give him a clean break. Dane climbed to his feet and surprised her with an enziguri kick that left the Japanese rocked. He followed with a othesline to knock her prone, and a second one right after. He went to the third but Sakazaki ducked the attempt and hooks his arms, pinning him with a backslide and coming very close to the de is e three count.
- Mitchell raised his left arm to block a punch from Hikari, immediately showing off his power as he planted her with a rock bottom. Unfortunately for him he couldn't capitalize as he was forced to take a moment to nurse that injured arm before he could make the cover. That forceful hesitation allowed Hikari to kick out in two.
- Hikari's meticulous work on that right arm was undoubtedly paying off, limiting Dane's power moves and leaving him in a bad spot. But the resident Chef was cooking something, playing defense and waiting for the right opportunity to strike. And eventually he found one, doubling Hikari over with a knee to the gut and planted her on the canvas with a double underhook face buster, obtaining the hard fought victory.

La Huracan Famosa VS Gardiner Eden
- Eden wasn't prepared for the Luchadora's speed. The talented Mexican soared over the top rope with a beautiful dive, taking down Gardiner and landing gracefully on her feet. Still not satisfied, she climbed back on the apron and jumped with a moonsault, hitting the target with absolute precision.
- Even inside the ring, the luchadora looked like a million bucks, flying from one side to the other with smooth moves. The ropes were almost an extent of her body, she would use them effortlessly to hit Gardiner from all angles with her aerial assaults. Even when Eden seemed to finally build some sort of momentum, throwing the Mexican into the corner with an Irish whip, La Huracan stepped on the ropes and flew over her head, landing behind Gardiner's back and quickly taking her down with an Inverted DDT.
- The Alaska native was in big trouble tonight. So far, she hadn't been able to connect any noteworthy offense, spending quite a lot of time flat on her back courtesy of Huracan's aerial attacks. The masked girl almost got away with the win after planting Eden on her head with a springboard reverse Rana, but the blonde was able to get her foot on the bottom rope, showing good ring awareness.
- One thing that couldn't be taken away from Gardiner was her determination and the ability to absorb a lot of punishment. Even after being put through the grinder for almost seven minutes, she just kept coming back for more, ready to capitalize on the Mexican's first mistake. Which eventually came when La Huracan tried to connect with a hip attack in the corner and Gardiner rolled out of the way. She was then quick to capitalize with a series of kicks to the chest leading to a snapmare that left the Mexican sitting down on the mat, helpless against the brutal kick to the spine that followed suit.
- In her constant attempt to impress her idol, the MWE superstar Echo, Gardiner imitated the Aussie's moveset quite effectively. Her pull-back lariat was quite effective, knocking La Huracan down. After the kick out, Eden began to lay in a series of stomps to the Mexican's right knee and leg, dishing out her own dose of punishment culminating in a diving knee drop to the calf, forcing the Luchadora to retreat out of the ring.
- Gardiner had a plan and she was executing it perfectly. She kept targeting that same leg, limiting the opponent's speed and agility and thus taking out a good chunk of her offensive arsenal. The table had turned, Eden now seemed to be in control, dictating the pace and constantly damaging Famosa's leg with impactful moves like a chop block, or by slamming the inner part of her knee into the ring post. The plan came to fruition when she put the Mexican into aan excruciating ankle lock, making her screaming in pain. La Huracan desperately tried to get to the ropes, fighting the survival instinct that was begging her to just give up and end this agony. But se wouldn't quit, and even though the ropes were still so far away, she still found a way to get effectively out of danger, rolling through and pinning Gardiner for a quick count of three.

Singles Match
Aliyah Marshall VS Dani Morrow
- Marshall impressed in her last match against Megan Smith, picking up a convincing win after a solid performance. Her confidence was high as she took on Dani Morrow who, on the other hand, hasn't appeared on TV since episode 2 when she came up short in her attempt to win the Team titles while pairing with tonight's opponent. They locked up to start the match, Marshall immediately doubled Dani over with a knee to the gut and dropped her down with a lariat.
- Aliyah wasn't slowing down, the intensity she displayed tonight was both a testament that, indeed, she was taking this very seriously and at the same time evidence that her character was almost opposite to her sister's. Where Faizah was constantly reminding everyone that she was the Best At Everything, Aliyah would let her actions speak, as they did now that she was pounding Dani in the corner with shoulder tackles to the midsection. Morrow was folded in two, and it was easy for Marshall to pick her up, hoist her on the top rope and bring her down with a thunderous superplex.
- It took her a couple of minutes, but Dani eventually found her footing and started to build some momentum. She started throwing quick kicks at the legs and sides of Marshall, slowing down her momentum and forcing her to one knee. Morrow sprinted back into the ropes and blasted the opponent with a running single leg dropkick right on the face, obtaining the first near fall of her match.
- Aliyah was now on the ropes and Dani came charging at her. Marshall had a counter for that, throwing her over the top rope with a back body drop. But Dani landed on her feet on the apron and prepared to counterattack. Once again Aliyah was one step ahead and swung her arm back, connecting her elbow to the side of the opponent's head, knocking Dani down.
- Things took another turn when Aliyah tried to hit Dani with a baseball slide. Morrow crouched down and saw the opponent's legs passing right above her head, dodging the impact. Aliyah managed to land on her feet but she couldn't defend herself when Morrow kicked her in the stomach and planted her with a DDT on the outside.
- Wisely, Dani chose not to linger out of the ring, immediately pushing the opponent back in to capitalize on the momentum. Marshall looked dizzy, but Dani wouldn't stop, blasting her with striking combinations culminating in a bicycle knee strike that knocked the girl down. Morrow made it to the top rope and flew on top of Aliyah with a beautiful moonsault, picking up her first win in The Academy.
