Riot in Canada
Live from The Bell Center in Montreal, Canada
Sunday, October 1st, 2023
Backstage we find Clementine Smith and Millie Smith dressed in their matching red one piece ring gear with stylistic whites thrown in and some Millennium colours on their gloves, boots, and such.
Clementine Smith:
Now these are definitely making it feel more real. Millie and Clementine, the Acadettes, in tag team action. In the Great North, I think that's why Lexie put a focus on the red and white. Is there a flag on it anywhere?
Clementine says extending her thigh out and showcases her decade of training as she flexes how flexible she is, ending with a straight leg in the air.
A crew member in the background passes out as a result.
Millie Smith:
Eep.
Millie reacts to the collapse and his pal reassures them with a wave.
Crew Member:
Carry on. He's all good.
Clementine Smith:
Ok. Sorry about that!
Clementine calls out and then looks at Millie with a shy WTF face.
Clementine Smith:
So, Millie-Mania, have you ever faced Jessica before? How about Evelyn?
Millie shakes her head to both of them.
Millie Smith:
First time for me too. Luckily Bree has given us some pointers.
Clementine Smith:
And she's been a tag team champ so she knows her stuff. Actually, Bree has held a few titles here. Couldn't have asked for a better bit of help there eh, Cuz?
Millie Smith:
Yes.
Millie sank a little bit. Clementine realized her faux pas but this time Millie, the veteran of the two took charge.
Millie Smith:
It's ok. Bree started as a tag team champ, so did Mimi, so did Honey. So that's what we need to work towards. Becoming tag team champions.
Clementine Smith:
Heyyy we're going to have a good day today with that confidence, Cuz.
Millie smiles at Clementine who pulls out two pairs of sunglasses for their entrance. Clementine quickly puts hers on, white frames with black lenses.
Clementine Smith:
Luckily Bien Habille have a special Smith Girl same day delivery so I was able to get these to go with our outfits. You know Jess and Vi are going to be looking very stylish.
Millie Smith:
Stylish Clem.
Clementine Smith:
Stylish Accadettes, Cuz. Although I got you one thing to make you stand out. A Stitch arm band.
Clementine then puts a one of a kind wrestling band on Millie's arm which brightens the shy Smith's smile.
Clementine Smith:
You can say it. I'm the favourite cousin.
Millie Smith:
Let's go face those Carter Girls.
Millie says knowing her family will be watching and walks past Clementine off screen. Clementine calls out to her.
Clementine Smith:
Cuz. You didn't say it!
Tag Team Match
The Carter Girls VS The Accadettes (Millie Smith & Clementine Smith)
The first match on tonight's card was perhaps the biggest surprise of the night. The debutant team of The Accadettes and The Carter Girls really knocked it out of the park, gifting the Canadian fans with a highly enjoyable match that exceeded the most optimistic expecations. Millie and Clem stepped in the ring together for the first time tonight, but they clearly had worked a lot during the summer on their chemistry, surprising everyone with perfectly timed spectacular tag team moves. The poor Evelyn was in great difficulty already, unable to counter the Smithsì offense and barely getting any move in. One of the few she managed to land was rather impressive: a codebreaker to counter Clementine's diving moonsault. The impact was tremendous, a true turning point of the match. And while Vi wasn't able to capitalize on that, she at least cleared the way to her corner,, where Jessica was waiting to get involved. The multi-time tag champion 's experience was unmatched by everyone else involved in the match, and Jessica made it count, sending Millie out of the ring with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors and then jumped on her with a pescado. Even after Mille managed to tag Clem in, Jessica remained one step ahead, tripping the former gymnast with a drop-toe-hold that sent Smith on the middle rope. The veteran followed with a spectacular tiger feint kick, obtaining another near fall with a springboard 450. The Accadettes were able to turn things around, almost getting the win with their Eat Da Feet (double inverted stomp facebreaker), bur Evelyin jumped in with the last minute save. in the following minutes, Carter took care of business while Jessica recovered, but in the end it was the veteran who got the final word in with her Bonne Nuit on Clem. Both teams received a round of applause, and it was nice, for once, seeing sportsmanship and respect between rivals, with the winning team shaking hands and congratulating the defeated duo. As for the Accadettes? If this first match together is any indication of what the future holds for the young Smiths, we're definitely in for a threat. WINNER: The Carter Girls BY: Pinfall (Bonne Nuit), 9:39 |
As the camera cut to backstage, a curly haired figure is revealed, wearing oversized sunglasses and an expensive looking studded leather jacket. His toned torso was bare, wearing his cut off wrestling shorts that came in white with a blue and red trim. That cocky grin appeared on his face, the self proclaimed “Great One” stepping forward.
Scott Martell:
Oh, isn’t this GREAT?
Came the voice of Scott Martell, the Gold Star and Valedictorian of the MWE Academy 22/23. He pouted his thick lips to the camera, asking his question as if he expected an overwhelming response from those behind the camera.
Scott Martell:
We’ve had our time, we’ve had our break and right here, right now, the most overwhelming fan and expert voted MWE Academy Valedictorian has hit the main roster. Scottie goes Pro. Greatness becomes real. The future is now, and it feels so, so, so, so, so… GREAT!
The Gold Star rubbed his hands together, grinning like a mad man as he stared through those lens.
Scott Martell:
I’ve been waiting for this, waiting all too long. Since last time you saw me, reclaiming the Gold Star in front of thousands in the arena, millions at home, showing that Team Strike was yet again the most dominant team in the Academy and proving, once and for all, that I was Number One… it’s all been a little quiet. Sure, me and my babe Ava have had time to travel, relax, work on our skills and hone our talents. But there has also been weeks, months, years of MWE exclusive footage to catch up on. And that footage has been on the champs of this place.
He opened his arms out wide, almost like he was welcoming the champions of MWE to him, rather than introducing himself on the biggest stage.
Scott Martell:
Hey Hayley LaFleur… That means you too. You, me, Greatness awaits. It’s you and the Great One for the biggest debut in MWE History. The Real Gold Star against… well guess you’re just the welcoming committee for the real main event tonight, but that is a real step in the right direction after so much time away from the MWE and Agora Network, the GREATest professional wrestling network in the business.
Tipping his glasses down, the handsome New Yorker winked to the camera.
Scott Martell:
So, Champ? You ready for the big time? The real stage? To share the ring with the Next Great Thing in this industry? Oh I know you are. This is the highlight of your, and the fans, wrestling calendar year. And when the headlines hit tomorrow, you know what everyone will want, and what you will get?
Great Scott let out a laugh, rubbing his hands together once more as the cocky up and comer belted out his now infamous phrase, the name of his deadliest move.
Scott Martell:
It’s The Scoop!
Chaos Theory Championship Match
Emma Wakefield © VS Betsy GallagherAfter successfully defending her title against her friend Evelyn Carter at Zeitgeist, Emma Wakefield was looking to add another defense to her record, getting closer to the five needed to cash in the title for a shot at either the Junior Heavyweight or Riot Championship. Getting past a Betsy heartened by the win achieved at Zeitgeist wasn't going to be easy, that much became clear right off the opening bell when the Brit easily overpowereed the Academy graduate and body-slammed her into the canvas. The strength disadvantage was a huge deal breaker for the young champion, as proved by how easily Betsy blocked her northern lights suplex attempt and countered it with a front suplex of her own. The onlly negative note in the challenger's impressive start was that neither of her offensive moves, not even the Queen's Lariat were enough to keep Wakefield down. Drawing energy from the cheering fans, Emma finally managed to build some momentum. It took her a while, Gallagher seemed to be extremely resilient to her kicks and strikes, but eventually she was able to take Titania. Just as Betsy tried to push herself up, Emma came charging in with a shining wizard, leveling the opponent and keeping her down for a count of two. The champion was now on a roll, finally able to showcase her talent and the skills honed in The Academy, coming extremely close to the win with the snap DDT called From Your Emmagination, but Betsy got her shoulder up in time. The match continued with Emma obtaining another near fall with a, this time successful, northern lights suplex but not even then was enough to keep the opponent down. Gallagher briefly attempted a comeback, dropping Emma with the British End (pumphandle lift dropped into a reverse STO), but Wakedfield wisely rolled out of the ring, avoiding the pin. When she came back in, the two competitors locked up in the middle of the ring, jockeying for position. And then the bell rang, signaling the end of the fifteen minutes time limit and ending the match in a draw. By the rules of the Chaos Theory championship, the title remained around Emma's waist, but the match won't be counted as one of the five title defenses needed. In the past, situations like this would lead to a rematch, we will see if, and when, Betsy will get another shot at Emma and her Chaos Theory championship. WINNER: Draw BY: Time Limit, 15:00 |
Battle For The Briefcase Tournament Match
Round Two: No DQ
Donovan Keane* VS Seth IserRound Two: No DQ
The fans who originally wanted to see Iser versus Graves might have been a bit disappointed with Donovan Keane replacing him, but Seth Iser knew better than underestimating the former member of Nightfall Rising. A veteran like him surely didn't forget the matches Donnie had against Asher Miles, including the Ambulance Match that won the MOTY award in 2021. Not to mention that with this match being No DQ, the possiility of having other Division members turning up and favor their new ally could almost be taken for granted. Probably for that reason Seth's approach to the match was extremely cautious, with the veteran often checking his six in fear to get jumped from behind. Inevitably, this meant he'd leave the initiative to his opponent, whose athletic style matched well with the hardcore rules. As Seth sought refuge from Keane's chair shots out of the ring, the former member of Nightfall Rising set up the chair near the ropes and stepped on it to reach the top rope and springboard himself toward the former MWE World champion, hitting him with a shooting star press. The spectacular move might as well earned him some applause, if he didn't immediately claim it was "better than Jay's". The unnnecesssary, shouted at the fans while standing on the barricade with his arms open wide to taunt the fans, didn't only earn him a round of boos, but it also exposed him to Iser's attacks. The veteran just grabbed him under his armpits and threw him on a table Donnie himself had previously set up with a crucifix powerbomb. Just because he now tries to avoid getting involved in brutal matches, that doesn't mean that he forgot how to fight in them. Granted, forget the creative and sometimes silly stuff hardcore kids do these days, the veteran brought back his own flair of violence straight from a couple of decades ago. First he wore Donnie down with countless chair shots, then gave him a literal blast from the past with a stop sign to the skull and finally trapped him in the classic trash can, lifting and slamming him on the canvas with a body slam before finishing him with an elbow drop that bent the metal bin out of shape. But all that still wasn't enough to keep Donovan down. And then, what everyone was expecting actually happened. Thatcher Ray Nash and Benjamin Atlas of The Division came out to help Keane, finding the Deity Of Destruction waiting for them with a steel chair in hand. Seth landed a couple of shots to the Killer Kowboy's body before the Big Guy snatched the weapon from his hands. The two enforcers then got the best of the grizzled veteran, kicking him down and stomping him to the ground. Keane then asked that they would pick him up and hold him still while he superkicked him into oblivion. And a kick connected, although it wasn't Donnie's. Anna Daniels appeared seemingly from out of nowhere, blasting Keane with her Interrobang (brazilian kick). Nash attacked her but he ran straight into a Blue TARDIS Bomb (Blue Thunder Bomb). Atlas tried to avenge his partner in crime but a discus lariat by Iser stopped him on his tracks. Seth and Anna exchanged a nod, Iser took a step back and invited the Time Lord to take her shot at Donnie. And she did, getting some payback for what happened at Zeitgeist by dropping Keane head first onto the chair with the Oncoming Storm. Wasting no time, she dragged him up and passed him to Iser, who finished him with a Deprivation DDT, once again performed onto the chair. WINNER: Seth Iser BY: Pinfall (Deprivation DDT), 10:53 |
The arena is quiet for a few moments before “Omnishred” hits the speakers and there is cheering coming from the crowd. AFter a few moments and smoke fills the entrance ramp, you see Andrew making his way out from behind the curtain, wearing a CAnadiens home jersey, with a C patch and #14 Suzuki on the back. This sends the crowd into an even bigger frenzy as Andrew soaks it in a moment before throwing his hands outward and pyro setting off around him. He smirks and makes his way down towards the ring, he doesn't take the time to acknowledge fans though as he slides in under the ropes and heads to the corner turnbuckle to rile up the crowd. He gets down and grabs a mic as he heads back towards the middle of the ring, there’s a Olé chant that starts which Andrew takes in, being a Habs fan and all, he takes a minute to let the crowd get it out of their system before he finally gets a chance to say something.
Andrew Raynes:
I've gotta say, there's nothing I enjoy more than coming back to La Belle Province, a place I now call home, and here the electric atmosphere of the Bell Centre. (the crowd erupts into cheers). It seemed like the perfect setting for Wrestlings toughest out to make his return to MWE and continue down the path that I walk and take those next steps. I could reflect from months back and make mention of the fact that I lost the Riot Championship but the truth is that it's something that does not concern me. Hayley played her cards right and managed to use her advantage to claim the title and that's all there is to it. I continue to prove that I am one of the hardest people to beat and the fact that it came down to pure luck was further proof of that.
That being said, it's time to take that and press it .
Andrew looks around, the crowd is feeding into it right now hearing their adopted hometown boy radiating energy.
Andrew Raynes:
I have the opportunity to slow things down a little, while the battle of the briefcase takes place and people are lining up to shoot their shot of dethroning the MWE World Champion. If they can get past his pack of cronies, I am going to watch everything unfold. While I may not be in contention to claim the briefcase, it will not prevent me from picking my spot to take down Julian Savell myself. Having this nice little break allowed me to hit the reset button and come in refreshed. It's been refreshing to be able to just sit back and have a little reprieve so that when we did make our way back, I could sit back and see all the little pawns make their play and try leaping into contention before they could walk. NO sooner than we were announced to return, you had everyone jumping out of the woodwork to stake their place around here.
Management gave me a perfect welcome back match, something i had been eying for awhile now since he started here in MWE and Tank, let me just say that you’re walking into hostile territory coming into the Bell Centre.
The crowd cheers again, solidly behind their boy here tonight.
Andrew Raynes:
Tank, I have wanted to have my shot against you for a little while now. This return seems like the perfect opportunity to shake out the rust and put the pedal to the metal. There are very few people that can really unleash a beating and seeing what you truly have will be a nice little test for me.Make no mistake about it though, you better make sure that you are bringing everything you have because one little step will end up ending badly for you.
While I may be over losing the Riot Championship, there's still a little chip on my shoulder that wants me to unload that loss and send a message to Julian and the rest of the division, Im not the type to take my ball, go home and fucking cry about it. Julian knows he won't be able to avoid me forever and losing the Riot Championship puts me on a path I won't be able to stray away from now. WHile he might be able to swat away everyone else who dares challenge him, once I make my way through everyone, it will become inevitable that I finally become MWE World Champion.
Ca commence so soir en avant de vous autre et avec le puissance de la bleu blanc et rouge, nous briserons le verre et avancerons au Champion du monde.
Andrew pounds on the Habs crest as he finishes his statement in french and tosses the mic down. The crowd in a frenzy as Andrew leads them into another Ole chant that resonates across the entire arena.
Singles Match
Andrew Raynes VS Tank SteinerAfter losing the Riot championship in the first, historic Lady Luck match, it was time for Raynes to move onto (hopefully) better things. Herr Steiner was the first obstacle in his new path, and it was quite the big one. Judging the Austrian for his track record would be a tragic mistake, and Raynes learned the hard way what happens when you take your opponent lightly. His approach was a bit overconfident, to say the least, and that violent chop that almost tore the skin off his chest was the harshest reality check for the Toughest Out. Tank really tested the accuracy of that moniker by tossing the Canadian from one side to the other of the ring with a series of five Austrian suplexes. Raynes was never a fan favorite, his "all business" approach and that penchant for violence and bending the rules often painted him as the villain of the situation, and tonight was no different. Playing in front of his fellow countrymen earned him a few more cheers than the usual, even when he raked Tank's eyes to catch a break. Raynes began building his momentum, trying to take the big man down with heavy strikes to the head and kicks to the leg. But Tank immediately regaained control with a massive spinebuster. The Austrian Hulk then walked to the corner and prepared himself for Der große Kaboom, but Raynes moved out of the way, avoiding getting squashed by the impressive moonsault. The Canadian quickly followed with his Code Of The Sith, obtaining a long count of two. The running knee strike left Tank dazed, and Raynes capitalized on that, keeping the pressure on Herr Steiner and eventually finishing him with his patented Shattered Glass (Leaping Reverse STO). WINNER: Andrew Raynes BY: Pinfall (Shattered Glass), 13:08 |
We cut backstage, to find the formulaic Haylie Lafluer, Lady Luck spelled out across her t-shirt as she stood proudly holding the Riot Championship up on her shoulder.
Haylie LaFluer:
You know if you’d of told me this time last year that I would once again be holding championship gold, I would’ve laughed. Sincerely, the idea that I would be a champion just seemed out of the realm of what I was seeking when it came to my further contributions to wrestling and to do so against someone as great as Mr. Raynes would only further increase my level of doubt, but you know what they say about the power of the mind. The only person you ever need to convince is yourself.
She smiled now looking fondly at the gold.
Haylie LaFluer:
But I am so so proud of what I was able to accomplish, and for the opportunity to show how much I have grown as a performer and a person since the last time I held gold. I was a champion for over 1,000 days the last time I had a belt within my grasp, but I wasn’t proud of the person I was then. I wasn’t proud of the champion that I had become, I let the pressure of holding onto that belt become every facet of what I stood for, but this time I assure you, will be different. While I plan to hold on to this belt for as long as I possibly can, I make a vow that I will remain exactly as I am. An assured and confident woman, who has the formula to almost every single problem.
She smiles now as she glances towards the camera once more.
Haylie LaFleur:
That’s where I come to Scott Martell, the innovator of the impressive Scoop. Quite a move and quite a dominant showing that was displayed during his time in the Academy, but I am no rookie wrestler, I am quite the opposite and that can be looked at in a multitude of ways, but the one way that it should be looked at is In the ideal that I study each of my opponents grately. I watch every detail so that I know both their strengths and weaknesses, but most of all I show that regardless of who I am facing, I am well prepared. I hope that you are as well Mr. Martell, because only time will tell just who might be the victor.
Haylie could only offer a small chuckle at that before she tapped her championship softly and looked back into the camera lens and stared for a moment before she walked away.
Singles Match
Scott Martell VS Hayley LaFleurAn interesting match between the Year Three Valedictorian and the new Riot Champion. Despite their attempts at hiding it, both competitors must be feeling the pressure of their "first time". First match as a champion for LaFleur, first match against an estabilished wrestler for the last Gold Star. Up until the moment the bell sounded, the fans were half expecting Scott to use the clause in his contract as a former Gold Star winner to make this a title match, but the Great One was in no rush to use it. Just like he was in no rush in this match, at least in the early moments. He kept a slow pace, one that would allow him to stay in control and keep Hayley grounded. He obtained that with holds and heavy strikes, forcing LaFLeur against the corner and wearing her down with forearm strikes. He then lifted her over the third rope and brought her back down with a superplex, obtaining a near fall. After suffering Martell's physicality in the opening minutes, the Riot champion seemed to have found a crack in the young man's defense, landing an impressive series of kicks culminating in a beautiful springoard roundhouse that knocked Martell flat on his back. LaFleur then sprinted toward the side of the ring, jumped on the middle rope and landed on top of him with a beautiful springboard moonsault. The match continued for a few more minutes in which the two competitors tried their best to put the opponent down for good. LaFleur came particularly close to the three with her 360 Discus Codebreaker, but when she went for the LaFleurian Scott ducked the shining wizard and rolled her up with a school boy. It wasn't an attempt at pinning her, as he immediately lifted her in the air and threw her into the corner with a buckle bomb, scoring a near fall of his own. The win was hanging in balance, the match could've really gone either way so it was somewhat a shock to see Scott suddenly rolling out of the ring and leaving. The ref started to count while Haylie just shook her head, but it was clear that Martell was not coming back. WINNER: Haylie LaFleur BY: Countout, 8:36 |
Backstage we see one half of the MWE Tag Team Champions, Matt Stone, whistling as he walks down the hallway, championship draped over his shoulder. It’s a refreshing sight for everyone to see Matt Stone once again with a championship title, no doubt. To match the shiny accessory, he’s got a PCP shirt on and his wrestling attire. He stops at a door and checks his wrist, where a watch may traditionally have been found but it’s not on his person. Nevertheless, he’s showing he’s impatient and knocks loudly on the door.
Matt Stone
How long can it possibly take you to get ready?
There is no response and Matt is just about to begin tapping one foot in annoyance, before the door is finally opened, revealing his tag team partner Veronica Sawyer. The other half of PCP and more importantly the other MWE Tag Team Champion. Unlike her partner, she is not yet dressed to compete for their first defense, instead wearing a robe making it clear she is still in the process of attempting to figure out her outfit.
Veronica Sawyer:
Didn’t anyone ever tell you that patience is a virtue?
Matt Stone
I dare you to call me virtuous.
Matt fires back quickly before taking in the fact that Veronica is wearing a robe before him.
Matt Stone
As much as I think you’d be a lovely distraction out there for Waze and Rade, I’m not sure this is the optimal strategy to undertake Ronnie.
Veronica rolls her eyes as she takes a step back so he can step inside of the room.
Veronica Sawyer:
Always the joker, but obviously I haven’t picked out my outfit yet.
As she is speaking, Veronica motions towards the various different options for her ring gear scattered across the room, having packed much more than what was needed.
Veronica Sawyer:
This is our first defense since we became the MWE Tag Team champions. I am not about to start things off on the wrong foot, this is after all the beginning of the PCP Era.
Matt walks in and is taken aback by how many options Veronica has laid out for herself.
Matt Stone
Holy crap. There’s more clothes here than I have in my house Veronica, is this what you spend all your money on? Granted I spent a good chuck celebrating our win but even I think this is excessive! The PCP Era is going to need to go on for years before you get to wear all these!
Veronica Sawyer:
This isn’t even that much! What do you do? Rotate between two t-shirts?
Matt Stone
Technically four, because I have two of each, so?
Matt raises an eyebrow as if not identifying what the issue is. Veronica’s response is to simply throw both of her hands up above her head as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Veronica Sawyer:
This is the real issue at hand, while you were busy celebrating, I was focusing my attention on preparing for the next step.
As if to just get this over with, Matt points to a set of clothing directly in front of him.
Matt Stone
Fine, wear that one. Problem solved.
He dusts his hand with the issue as if he just solved world hunger. Veronica simply stares at him for a moment, before she blinks, almost as if she was in shock.
Veronica Sawyer:
I swear sometimes it’s like you don’t even listen to me.
Matt raises an eyebrow at that, taking offense.
Matt Stone
That’s not true, I heard everything you said. You want to look good for the start of our reign but really our reign is going to go on for years as far as I’m concerned so you’ll get to try on all of these things. It doesn’t matter what you wear tonight, you’re going to look ravishing.
Veronica Sawyer:
That’s besides the point, but I’m glad to see that you’re focused in the right direction, looking ahead rather than coasting on what we’ve accomplished.
Veronica smirks, clearly pleased with herself, as she pats Matt on the chest with one hand.He looks down at her head before looking back over the options before them.
Matt Stone
I never coast, I take being a champion very seriously. I’m a triple crown winner here and I’ve done it all wearing the same outfit. Okay, maybe not literally…but I think you’re putting a little too much stock in what should be a simple decision. This sort of feels like an ‘everything the light touches’ sort of scenario.Like what’s wrong with that one?
He asks, pointing at one that might be considered a little more risque. Veronica takes her hand and slaps him across the arm this time.
Veronica Sawyer:
That’s essentially lingerie Matt!
He mouths an ‘ow’ as he looks back to her.
Matt Stone
Well you had it out there, how am I to know it’s not a valid choice? Why don’t you just give me a top 3 then and I’ll pick out of that?
Veronica Sawyer:
Fine, as long as you promise to take this as seriously as I do our title reign.
As she is speaking, Veronica is picking up a couple of pieces of different ring gear, and she quickly hands over the small pile of clothing to Matt for him to hold in his hands.
Veronica Sawyer:
Waze and Rade, totally fake names by the way, are only a small piece of the puzzle for us. Tonight is all about setting the tone of what our title reign is going to mean for MWE.
He takes the pile in his arms, looking it over for a second, not really seeing anything jump out to him.
Matt Stone:
I take everything seriously Veronica…by the way, that robe makes your ass look big.
He smirks, knowing there’ll be repercussions for that remark. There is barely enough time for Matt to react before more items of clothing are being thrown in his direction and his eyes open wide when he catches sight of Veronica picking up some shoes.
Veronica Sawyer:
You are ridiculous!
Matt’s backing away towards the door as he’s bombarded with clothing and threatened with footwear.
Matt Stone:
Whoa, calm down. Some people would take that as a compliment…
He ducks down as a shoe collides with the door behind him.
Matt Stone
You’re not one of those people, noted!
Veronica Sawyer:
You should be more focused on our opponents than my butt!
Veronica scrambles to pick up another pair of shoes to throw which Matt takes as his cue to drop the clothes he’s holding and make a swift exit from the room, slamming the door behind him as the camera cuts away.
MWE Tag Team Championship Match
PCP VS The Division (RAZE & Wade Manson)
Mark this day on your calendar, as today was the first time the MWE fans cheered for Matt Stone. Surely being in front of his home crowd was a major factor, the fact that their opponents were universally hated definitely helped their case but PCP had the support of the local crowd tonight. Which seemed odd to them as well, at least for the first minutes before they got used to it. As for the match itself, it was tag team wrestling at its finest. Back and forth action, quick tags and a lot of combined moves that highlighted the chemistry between these two expert tag teams. The Division surely brought to the table their best possible combination they had in their ranks to try bringing the tag gold on their side, relying on the duo who dominated the Euroopean tag scene as the Murder City Saints. RAZE and Manson did not disappoint, isolating Veronica and focusing their attacks on her, obtaining a two count with RAZE's gorilla press drop onto Manson's knee. Venus eventually got the break she needed when she managed to get away from RAZE's waistlock with a mule kick just as Wade was about to superkick her into the Anomaly's German suplex. His foot connected on his own partner's chin, giving Sawyer the chance to reach Stone in her corner. The Abominable Showman charged toward Manson and knocked him down with a leaping knee to the face. He then got ride of RAZE, sending him over the top rope with a clothesline and quickly turned around to hit Wade with a kick to the gut and his patented Piledriving Miss Daisy, but RAZE came back in time to save his partner. PCP remained in control, using every trick in the book including a kick to the groin from Ronni to RAZE when the ref wasn't looking, busy dealing with Matt on the outside. Sawyer then tagged her partner in and together they performed their Planets Align (springboard head kick into a german suplex). WINNER: PCP (STILL MWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS) BY: Pinfall (Planets Align), 16:04 |
The scene opens up in a hallway somewhere deep in the depths of the arena. Sitting on a production box, we see Alex Andrews with her head back lost in her own thoughts for a moment, finally she notices the camera and a bit of a smirk crosses her lips.
Alex Andrews:
You know something? Ever since I lost my Riot Championship to Sutter, I've been doing my best to try and prove I belong in the upper echelon of this company. That the name Alex Andrews will be seen and people won't scoff at it. And I've had, let's say, mixed results. I've definitely stepped up a little bit, upped my game, not just here but also in House of Wrestling. I'm definitely not that same bright eyed rookie whom stepped onto the scene 3 years ago. In that time, I have become a world champion and I held off hungry rookie and grizzled vet alike during that reign.
Alex rolls her head back and forth before she continues.
Alex Andrews:
What I'm saying is over the years, I've picked up some pretty valuable experience. I've surprised a few people too because I'm not sire many believed I had a chance against people like CCJ. So now in this second round of the battle For The Briefcase tournament, I find myself up against another former World Champion and even a winner of this very tournament before. And it's no disqualification to boot. Needless to say, that's deck is stacked pretty high against me there, but you know what? When isn't it? I've made a career out of proving people wrong. From fighting from underneath and showing the grit and determination I possess.
Alex moves her position so her legs hang with ft the side of the production crate. She pauses and looks down for a moment, then brings her gaze back up to the camera.
Alex Andrews:
Melissa Reeves, you've done some great things in this business, being at the top of this company is no easy feat as we all well know, but I'm not about to stop my upward climb to reach my goals. Sure, I might have hit a stumbling block here and there, but there is no quit in Lady Limitless. So it doesn't matter the odds I'm facing, it doesn't matter who I'm facing, I'm coming out to that ring ready to fight, to thrive and carve my name in with the greats. It'll be honor to get in the ring with you, but don't mistake that for wide eyed enthusiasm, because that's how you get caught. This is a mountain you've climbed before and one I haven't. Guess who badly I want this.
Alex nods at the camera and a faint smile comes across her lips. She hops down off the crate and begins rolling her taped wrists as she walks with her back turned from the camera as the scene fades.
Battle For The Briefcase Tournament Match
Round Two: No DQ
Alex Andrews VS Melissa ReevesRound Two: No DQ
The two fan favorites started the match with a handshake, a nice display of sportsmanship between the two competitors who immediately locked up in the middle of the ring. opening the contest with a long grappling sequence. The fans almost forgot this was a no DQ match, as neither competitor seemed too interested in going for a weapon. Instead, they fought by the standard rules, trying to outdo each other in an exciting back and forth. Eventually Melissa got Alex in an ankle lock and the former Riot champion crawled toward the ropes and grabbed the bottom one, but the referee refused to call for the break, reminding everyone that this was, indeed, a match with no disqualification. Andrews had to find another way to get out of the submission, starting to head toward the corner and rolling through, sending the Aussie head first into the middle turnbuckle. Eventually they began to use the weapons, even though this was by far the less violent of the four Round Two matches. Mel spiked the opponent onto a steel chair with a cradle DDT, but it wasn't enough to keep Lady Limitlless down. Andrews replied by setting up that same chair in the middle of the ring and throwing the Reaver onto it from a fireman's carry position. The chair folded onto itself, crumbling under Reeves' weight and damaging the veteran's back, bur she still had enough strength left to kick out in two. They truly pushed each other to the limit, Andrews even dropped Reeves on the concrete floor outside with the Queen's End (Hammerlock DDT) and quickly pushed her under the bottom rope, but she still failed to put her down for good. And speaking of close calls, Mel couldn't get any closer to win this match than she did with that Reaver Slam onto the table. And yet, the ref said it was only a two. Eventually, all the effort Alex made into damaging Mel's back with backbreakers, kicks and powerbombs on the apron paid off when she managed to put the former World champion in the Dawn Breaker (Lion Tamer). Melissa fought tooth and nail trying to break free, resisting as much as it was humanly possible and even managing to reach the ropes. But just like for Alex earlier on, a rope break wasn't going to save her. Thirty more, seemingly eternal seconds in which the Australian made one last effort to escape the submission but it was all in vain. Eventually she had to give up.
