The Classroom March 2nd, 2023 8:30 PM
Sitting in the corner of the quiet classroom was Dakota, with her feet kicked up onto the desk in front of her, a guitar laid across her lap. She was plucking random strings, the guitar itself being out of tune, as if mirroring her “out of tune” actions on the previous show. With a sigh, she plucked a final string, letting the sound linger, and then silence. She stared up at the camera with eyes that were betraying how hard she was processing just what she wanted to get off her chest.
She slid the guitar from her lap, sitting it on the desk as she lowered her feet.
Dakota: I’m not one to enjoy being the center of attention. I’m happy working on my craft in the background, doing my thing and not really worrying about or involving myself in other people’s crap because believe me, I have enough to worry about. I was happy enough, but that wasn’t good enough for you, was it Reign? No, you were tired of me being a “spectator”. You wanted me to stop riding the bench and make some noise. So I took your disrespect, your lack of care for others, your bullshit, and threw it back in your face. I made that noise you wanted, but that wasn’t what you meant, was it? You wanted me to make noise as long as it wasn’t at your expense, but boohoo sweetheart.
She leaned forward, tapping her fingers on the desk, her piercing eyes hidden away by her swaying hair.
Dakota: I was content, Reign. I didn’t come here to make friends, I didn’t come here to parade around as Gold Star, I didn’t come here to rub my success in other’s faces. I just wanted to keep my head down and quietly get better on my terms because unlike you, I don’t have the support of my family. I don’t have the support of friends. The Academy is MY last chance to prove I can be good at something and I wanted to say I was proud of who I was when this all wrapped up, but I’ve learned something from watching myself back.
Dakota swept her hair back, her eyes still angled directly at the camera.
Dakota: I learned that I should be thanking you, because after seeing how you carry yourself, how you treat people, telling you to go fuck yourself as you were taken down a peg by Scott, was the happiest moment of my time here. I’ll say it again, and again, and again. Go. Fuck. Your. Self. And I probably won’t be the one to beat you for the Gold Star, the one to shut you up, and that’s fine. I don’t need that, because seeing your face when you reached for someone you were relying on and I didn’t reciprocate made it all worth it. You can go around knowing that you’re better than me, you can call me petty, or pathetic, or rant about how you made me relevant for a night. That’s fine…
With a huff, she stood by the desk, tracing her fingers along the neck of the guitar.
Dakota: You can say whatever you want about me, but I just have one thing to repeat about you. You’re a bitch who isn’t as special as she thinks she is. You’re a dime a dozen mean girl, who burns bright before winding up as a walking joke. So enjoy it while it lasts, because we’ll all enjoy your inevitable fall from grace.
Dakota turned her back to the camera, collecting her jacket from the chair behind her. She began to walk away, but paused, looking back to the guitar she had left behind. She shrugged it off, flipping off the light before exiting the classroom.
Singles Match
Marina Marston VS Brighton Lancaster
- The match started with a lock up in the middle of the ring which Brighton got the best of as she used her size and strength to her advantage. It wasn't long before she scooped Marina up and droppped her on the canvas with a body slam.
- Marina countered a powerbomb attempt with a rana and followed by a kick to the face that sent Lancaster to the floor where she took her out with a suicide dive. Marina was quick to get to her feet and climbed on the apron, from where she connected a spectacular Asai moonsault to knock Brighton down.
- Back in the ring, the Australian went for a suplex but Marina blocked it. The Australian responded with a couple of straight right fists to Rina's face followed by a running knee to the young student’s head.
- The new member of Team Noir tried to slow down the pace of the match with some simple but effective holds, keeping the high flier grounded and working on her lower back. Marina managed to create some separation and charged at the oppoent with a running crossbody but the powerhouse countered it with a backbreaker, obtaining a long count of two.
- Brighton seemed in control, connecting a couple of neckbreakers on Marina. Marston blocked the thirs attempt and connected with a kick to the side of Lancaster’s head into a stunner followed by a standing moonsault for a very close nearfall.
- Marina's momentum was short lived as Brighton caught her running and violently slammed her into the mat with a Samoan drop. Once again in control, Lancaster showcased all her strength tossing the opponent from one corner of the ring to the other. Perhaps it was an excess of confidence, or maybe a lack of experience but Marina somehow managed to slip from her grasp and roll her up into a quick pinning predicament, scoring a somehow surprising win.
WINNER: Marina Marston BY: Pinfall (Victory Roll), 8:18 |
Team Jones/Team Strike Mixed Tag Team Match
Reign Reyes & Missy Propaganda VS Alice Wagner & Dakota - Reyes tried to get under the opponents' skin, asking Dakota if she was planning on leaving Alice hanging like she did to her one week ago. 'Kota took a step forward to confront her but Wagner stepped in front of her and defused the situation, asking her partner for the night to step on the apron. The bell sounded and Reign tried to hit Wagner from behind while she was stilll talking with Dakota, but Alice somehow managed to duck the clothesline and connected a snap German suplex on the Gold Star.
- Possibly the two most talented and exciting to watch students, Alice and Reign lived up the hype and put on an absolute clinic. They kept going back and forth with a series of counters showing not only their skills but a deep knowledge of each other's movesets. In the end, Alice seemed to have the upper hand as she successfully landed a flurry of forearm strikes, pushing Reyes back into the corner. Wagner immediately stepped back and granted a clean break but her gesture of good sportsmaship was met with a throat strike by the Gold Star.
- Alice got absoolutely mauled in the following minutes by a very aggressive Reign, who managed to score a near fall with a neckbreaker. It looked like Alice could easily kick out from it but Dakota wasn't taking any chance, nor she was passing on the opportunity to kick Reign and break up the pinning predicament.
- After the tag, Missy tried to keep the pressure on Alice but the leader of Severed Wings blocked one of her kick and took Propaganda down with a dragon screw legwhip and jumped with both feet on her chest before reaching her corner and making the tag to Dakota.
- Dakota unloaded on Missy's chest with chops, the second generation wrestler replied with a flurry of kicks ot the sides and attempted a suplex but 'Kota blocked the attempt and connected one of her own
- Reign tried to spur her partner as she was going through perhaps the hardest time tonight as the opponents dropped her with a tag team tandem flapjack/cutter combination, from which Missy barely kicked out.
- Desperate times call for desperate measures and Reign took action. She taunted Dakota, distracting her and giving Missy time to recover and strike her down with a superkick to the back of the head.
- After the tag, Reign put Dakota through the grinder. The gap between the two was visible and Reyes got close to the win in at least a couple of occasions with a shining wizard and a meteora, but Dakota survived both circumstances. Not only that, but she managed to hit a savate kick from out of nowhere that caught Reign on the chin.
- The two exchanged strikes for a little longer and ended up knocking each other down. With a double count out in placce, the two competitors started to crawl to the respective corners, making the tag to their partners at the very same time. Alice and Missy charged toward each other at full speed: Propaganda went for a clothesline, Wagner ducked it and hooked Missy's arms, pinning her with a sudden crucifix driver. Perhaps a bit anticlimatic after that intense exchange between Reign and Dakota, but further testament of Wagner's impressive ability.
WINNER: Alice Wagner & Dakota BY: Pinfall (Crucifix Driver), 11:16 |
Singles Match
Sammy Grimes VS Scott Martell
- There may not be the animosity we saw a cople of weeks ago between these two, but surely there was no love lost either. Still, they seemed to play it fairly, at least for now. They battled for control in the early minutes of the match with Scott getting control with a hammerlock. Sammy tried to break free with a backfist but Martell ducked it and pulled him into a lariat.
- Grimes picked up the pace and out-wrestled Scott, catching him with an open hand chop to the chest. More shots were fired toward the Great One who bailed to the ropes to break the oncoming onslaught.
- The referee rought the two competitors back to the middle of the ring, where they locked up once again. Scott had the power advantage and he easily got the advantage, putting Sammy into a headlock and hitting him with some knees to the face before throwing him with a Saito suplex.
- Scott was relentless on his attack, hitting the opponent with a clubbing blow across the back and continuing to brutalize the chest of Sammy Grimes with knife edge chops. He then whippped his fellow Team Noir member into the ropes, looking to end things early with The Scoop but Sammy hooked his arms on the rope, stopping his momentum. Scott charged in and ran right into a big boot from Grimes who then transitioned on the apron. From there, he jumped on the top rope and knocked the opponent down with a springboard forearm strike.
- The pace sensibly picked up when Grimes was finally able to use his agility. A headscissors sent Martell flying into the corner. Sammy launched himself into him with a cannonball senton.
- The two comppetitors weren't trying to kill each other as people thought they would, but they weren't going wasy on each other either. A thunderous enziguri kick from Sammy caught Scott right on the side of the head and the Great One went down like a ton of bricks. Sammy then went high risk with a 450 splash and didn't miss, obtaining a very close fall.
- In what was probably Sammy's best moment, Scott was able to turn the tides, launching the opponent in the air and catching him as he was falling with a pop-up uppercut. Grimes rolled out of the ring to evade the following pin attempt.
- The fight continued outside the ring where Scott got the advantage after launching Grimes into the barricade. Scott picked the opponent up and dragged him back toward the ring. Sammy hit him with an elbow to the stomach and slammed him head first into the ring post, leaving him dazed. The ref's count was at seven already and Grimes urged to bring Martell back in the ring. Out of instinct, The Great One caught him with The Scoop, laying him out on the floor. He tried to stand up and get back in the ring, but he didn't make it in time.
