Millennium CXIV
TAPED from Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN
Wednesday, December 21st, 2022
Amy Maynard greets the audience and welcomes them to the last Millennium of the year. It''s a stacked card the one the fans in Nashville got to witness on the Winter Solstice, with the main attraction being the match between Billy Danielson and Tiffany Lynn-Page. The match came three days after Duke's brutal assault on Billy's cousin Millie, is The Franchise going to retaliate tonight against Andrews' girlfriend? Is Duke going to be here in Tennessee to stop him, should that be the case? That and many other questions will find their answers tonight.
In two separate segments we get a glimpse inside the locker room of the two teams opening the night. First we meet Jessica and Evelyn Carter who, despite the recent losses suffered in the past weeks, manage to keep a positive attitude. They know their opponents tonight are tough competition but they promise they will do their best, as always. Climbing the tag team division ranks is not a sprint, it's a marathon. And theirs has only just started.
Opposite mood for Matt Stone and Veronica Sawyer. The Phenomenal Cosmic Powers have been going through a rough path ever since their match on the first round of the Cage Scamble qualifier in November. Something seems to have broken in their chemistry, and even now they don't look to be on the same page, blaming each other for the recent shortcomings. Things seem about to blow out of proportion but in the end cool heads prevail. They calm down and agree that they should focus on the future, not the past. Starting with this match tonight.
Tag Team Match
PCP VS The Carter Girls
Evelyn and Jessica keep improving with every match. They absolutely dominated the first part of the match, showing that chemistry their opponents appeared to have lost somewhere down the way. Vi connected a beautiful springboard moonsault on Veronica, obtaining a count of two. She then made the tag to Jessica who hit Sawyer with her running hip attack for another near fall. Things changed once Ronnie was able to make the tag to Matt, the experience advantage he had on Evelyn was the key to turn the tides. He tried to end things quickly with his Piledriving Miss Daisy but the former Academy Student kicked out in two. Veronica's blind tag made Matt roll his eyes, but he decided not to make a fuss. Besides, Veronica almost got their team the win when she locked Jessica in her Venus Fly Trap. Carter managed to escape it, but Veronica was back on the attack, whipping her in the corner and connecting with a leaping knee/bulldog combination. Stone tagged himself in, and this time it was Ronni who didn't seem happy about it. Matt set the opponent up for the MLG 360 No Scope but Evelyn made the save. Confident about his chances, Matt turned back to his partner and reassured her that he got this. Veronica rolled her eyes exaggeratedly when Jessica rolled him up with a school boy pin and perhaps she could have saved him, but she stayed on the apron instead, shaking her head. WINNER: The Carter Girls BY: Pinfall (School Boy Pin), 8:31 |
Solid Space's "A Darkness In My Soul" blares out of the loudspeakers and the fans welcome the Time Lord Anna Daniels with a decent pop. It's not often that we see the Muse talking, but there appears to be something she really needs to get off her chest tonight. And of course, it's about Megan Manning. Anna claims she's tired of seeing her and her husband stomping their feet and crying whenever things don't go their way. Anna pointed out the irony of Megan calling herself the "cornerstone" when MWE proved time and time again they can do just fine without her. Which is a good thing, since she's planning to deprive the company of "an annoying brat" for quite some time. The fans cheered at the news, Daniels waited for them to calm down before confirming that she's challenging Megan to a Steel Cage Match at On Thin Ice. And there's not a single timeline where this is going to end well for her.
Singles Match
Summer Collins VS Annica GreeneSummer started with some chain wrestling, not wanting to leave Annica much room to exploit her agility. Greene managed to whip Collins in the corner and tried a spinning heel kick, but Summer caught her and threw her down. The Florida native dropped to the canvas and applied a front face lock, trying to wear down Annica. The champ gets back to her feet and showed some technical skills of her own, twisting Summer's arm and starting to wotk on that. Then all of a sudden she pinned her with an arm-wrench inside cradle, almost catching her off guard. It was an intense match, just like the one their tag partners had a few days ago on Riot. After a central phase dominated by Annica, summer regained control with the full nelson suplex. She then went back to another submission, locking in the Chapter Seven (crippler crossface) in the middle of the ring. Annica began crawling toward the ropes, eventually managing to reach them and save herself. The champion then rolled out of the ring to regroup, but Summer wasn't giving her any break. Collins grabbed Annica's foot and pulled her out from under the ring where she tried to sneak, bringing her back inside the ring. Greene started fighting back, hitting Summer with some quick punches. Then from out of nowhere she connected the Barbie Tingz (180° spun flare transitioned into a legdrop) and got the win... Hold on a second, that's Aliyah's finishing move! Could it be...? Yes, they definitely pulled their twin magic for this one. And the fans were loving it. WINNER: Annica(?) Greene BY: Pinfall (Barbie Tingz), 9:19 |
In the next segment we see Gabriel Landry standing next to MWE backstage interviewer Camille Bellamy. The young woman promises she'll be as delicate as she can be but this interview is bound to touch some personal matters, considering the history between him and his next opponent. Gabe sighs and says that he's ready for what's about to come. The interview retraces Gabe's career, from his beginnings (and the beginning of his love story with Karen), to injury caused by Erika (and Rainer), to the Gold Star win that granted him this title opportunity. Camille admits she thought he'd use it on Rainer, but Landry said that Karen crossed the line and made it personal. The young man then states that at the next PPV, is go big or go home for him. Literally.
Singles Match
Gabriel Landry VS Devon SlaytonLandry was in great shape tonight. Focused, determined, a new found fire burning in his eyes. Slayton really never managed to catch him, spending most of the first part of this match laying on his back trying to kick out from Gabe's frequent pinfall attempts. With the handspring cutter he really came close to obtain the quick win, but Slayton kicked out in two and half. That was a true wake up call for Slayton, who finally found his footing and began to fight back. They went back and forth with good offense from both sides before Landry was able to reverse a suplex from Devon and hit a double stomp to the stomach. Gabe followed this with a flying forearm from the top rope for a two-count. Devon caught Gabriel mid-air off a crossbody attempt and tossed him halfway across the ring with a Fallaway Slam. Staying on the attack, Devon scored a near fall with the Cromwell Invocation. Bouncing right up from a German Suplex, Gabriel hit a high knee that staggered the Black Savior. The former Academy student followed with a bicycle kick to take the former MENTV champion down. He quickly climbed to the top rope and landed on Devon with his Take To The Sky (630 splash), sealing the win. WINNER: Gabriel Landry BY: Pinfall (Take To The Sky), 10:29 |
Karen Eldon is seen leaving the medical area, accompanied by her boyfriend Rainer Nordhagen. When she sees the camera approaching, Karen says that, luckily for whoever her opponent is, she will not be embarrrassed tonight. As Karen starts coughing (although one could argue they look fake), Rainer butts in saying that the greatest champion on the Millennium roster is, unfortunately, still recovering from a flu and therefore will not compete tonight. Hopefully, she'll make a full recover for the Pay-per-View and deal once and for all with that "pathetic, obsessed loser" of her former boyfriend. The couple then leaves the Arena, looks like Ashley Belle's Millennium debut won't happen tonight.

Back in the studio, Amy Maynard looks perplexed at what we just saw. She doesn't believe Karen was actually sick, believing it was an excuse to just get a night off and avoid potential injuries, arriving at the PPV well rested. Speaking of the PPV, Amy confirms that Haylie LaFleur and Paula Parker will go one on one. Is Haylie going to be able to end Paula's undefeated streak? Or will the Prodigy come out victorious against the woman who, in her opinion, blemished her perfect record, although it happened in a tag match?
We get a video, straight from the Manning Mansion. The hall is decorated for the festivities, a GIANT christmas tree sparkling with lights and decorations next to the fireplace. A display of opulence and wealth, maybe a bit tacky but who are we to judge? Megan Manning is sitting on the couch, next to her husband Pierce. The former IC champion says that she heard what Anna Daniels had to say, and while normally she wouldn't bother to even reply, it's the Christmas Season and she feels generous. So yes, she accepts the challenge. Even though the MWE fans are definitely on the "naughty list" for the disrespect they keep showing her and her husband, she will still give them the greatest present they can ask for. Getting rid of the Time Lord.
Singles Match
Haylie LaFleur VS Siobhan MahoneyA very aggressive start from a very pissed off Siobhan, who went right away after Haylie in the corner with chops and chokes. LaFleur was able to duck a strike and switch positions, hitting a hip toss that brought Mahoney to the center of the ring. The Formulaic's quick offense earned her a number of near falls in the first minutes, frustrating the opponent to the point where she left the ring to take a time-out. LaFleur joined her on the outside, and that turned to be a mistake as Siobhan quickly fired a kick to the stomach and launched her into the steel post. As the match went back inside the ring, Mahoney was on the attack. Her swinging neckbreaker almost gave her an upset win, and she blamed the referee accusing him of being too slow. This gave Haylie precious time to recover and plan her comeback. She ducked Siobhan's Shillelagh (spin kick) and caught her with the 360 discus codebreaker. And just like that, Haylie had regained control, keeping it through the next couple of minutes until she debuted her Framing Haylie in front of the MWE fans, obtaining the win. WINNER: Haylie LaFleur BY: Pinfall (Framing Haylie), 9:00 |
In the next segment we see Glory Braddock visiting her best friend Sophie O'Brian prior to her match against Tank Steiner. The World Champion says that she's proud of her for taking the destiny in her hands last week. When she attacked Kenzie, she didn't just send a message, she started the countdown toward the end of her reign. Sophie smirks, adding that it's time she reminds the company what she's capable of. 2022 was a complicated year, but it's going to end the way it's supposed to be. With her and Glory at the top of the company.
Singles Match
Sophie O'Brian VS Tank SteinerThe big Austrian started in control, immediately imposing his physicality and forcing O'Brian in the corner where he hit her with a couple of boots to the face and a scoop slam for a two-count. Sophie came back with a dropkick and proceeded to target Tank's legs in hope to slow down the surprisingly fast big man. It worked well until he caught her leg and launched her into the turnbuckle with an exploder suplex. He sent her on the opposite side of the ring with an Irish whip but missed with the splash as Sophie moved out of the way, shifting behind Tank and dropping him on her knee with a neckbreaker. She made the cover and Herr Steiner kicked out in one. After a phase where Tank maintained control with a long series of Austrian suplexes, O'Brian was able to catch the big man with her Death Of Wisdom codebreaker and turn the tides. She used several chokes and neck holds to wear Steiner down, eventually finishing him with the Ode To Braddock (swinging fisherman's neckbreaker). After the referee raised her hand in victory, Sophie made an unmistakable gesture to the crowd. In a week, she'll have the IC championship around her waist. WINNER: Sophie O'Brian BY: Pinfall (Ode To Braddock), 10:36 |
Before the match, we hear from Alex Andrews, who will join Alena Holland and Jennifer Carter on commentary for the next match. Camille starts by congratulating with her for the win over Chris Constantine Junior and for the overall amazing year she had, and not only in MWE. To that, Alex replies by saying that she's grateful for the opportunities she had and the unconditioned love the MWE fans always showed her. Now she feels like she's "almost there", constantly facing some of the best the company has to offer. Her goal is obviously to keep going, keep proving that she is World championship material. The next question is about Chris Sanderson and their match in Houston. Alex obviously praises the two time MWE World champion's ability, but she is confused about his actions during that match? Why he did that? Did he feel threatened by her? Does he consider her an obstacle on his way to the third title? Hopefully, she'll get the answer to those questions at On Thin Ice, when they will be stepping in the ring once again. And this time, there WILL be a winner.
Singles Match
Alex Andrews on commentary
Chris Sanderson VS Betsy GallagherAlex Andrews on commentary
Alex' presence on commentary seemed to be a distraction for Chris who finds himself on the back foot against the intense Brit. After pounding and forcing him into the corner with a series of stiff strikes, Gallagher hit him with a clothesline. She went to whip him to the opposite side of the ring but Chris reversed the move and went for a running clothesline of his own, missing the target and getting dropped on his neck by Gallagher's dragon suplex. Sanderson came back with an angry reaction, bashing Gallagher with elbow strikes to the face. He often glanced at Andrews, but it wasn't out of concern that she would interfere. He was sending a message to her, giving her a preview of what will be in store for her at the next supershow. Being the focus of a two-world champion was flattering to Alex, but she also added that Chris should really focus on Gallagher, who she called on of the more underrated competitors in MWE. And thrutfully, Betsy proved that she can hang with the top dogs tonight, almost getting the biggest win of her career with a Betsy Bomb. Chris showed great ring awareness and saved himself by grabbing the bottom rope. After the close call, he realized that he shouldn't take the opponent lightly. Slowly, he made up ground and took the lead, scoring the decisive pinfall with the Untitled Finale III (cobra clutch suplex) WINNER: Chris Sanderson BY: Pinfall (Untitled Finale III), 12:14 |
It's time to say goodbye. Back in the studio, Amy introduces us to the last match of the card, showing a heartfelt promo from Billy Danielson. A stark contrast from the cold demeanor we saw from his rival Duke Andrews on Riot three days ago. The Franchise warns the Epitome Of Perfection, saying that he's playing a dangerous game. Coming for his family like he did is surely a way to earn his attention, but perhaps Duke didn't think it through, he didn't consider the consequences. "Two can play this game." Danielson says ominously, walking to his match against Duke's girlfriend.
Before the main event, the fans are treated to a nice surprise. Tiff makes an appearance, welcomed by a thunderous ovation. The Five Foot Death Machine speaks about her upcoming match against Glory Braddock, for the greatest prize in the company. She looks confident, stating that she's finally feeling great after the hardest time of her life. She thanks everyone who has been there for her, from her friends to her girlfriend Skylynn Reed, from the families who welcomed and supported her every step of the way to her real family, her blood, her younger sister Trinity Thompson who gave up her MWE career to ensure that she still had hers. And, of course, she thanks the fans who always supported her, even when she felt she didn't deserve it. Then she addresses her opponent, "truly one of the best wrestlers in the world", as her 17 World Titles testify. She continues saying that Glory has every right to be confident, after all she's the champion and the clear favorite, while Tiff is the underdog. But one thing she should know about her, is that Tiff has been an underdog for most of her career. As a matter of fact, she's been the most successful when filling that role. Even as a champion, even during that year-long reign, she was never the favorite. "How could a nineteen year old be considered the favorite against world class athlete like Aries Armadaist, Seth Iser or my cousin, Anastasia Starling?" And yet, she beat them. The cheers are deafening, the crowd is really buying into her words. She adds that she was the underdog when she entered Red Line III, with little to none experience in hardcore matches. The point she's trying to make it's simple. Tiff thrives under pressure, she build her career on overcoming the odds. And that's what she's planning to do at the next PPV. A "New World Champ" chant accompanies her as she makes her way backstage.
Singles Match
Tiffany Lynn-Page VS Billy DanielsonBilly didn't attack Tiffany as she made her way to the ring, but he definitely showed a very aggressive side in the early going. He drove his shoulder into her mid-section and slammed her into the turnbuckle, hitting several shoulder blocks to the cornered opponent. Tiffany tried to use her speed and agility to her advantage, but against this Billy tonight nothing really seemed to work. Even her Prima Donna (chick kick) only earned her a count of one. Danielson hit hard and frequently, violently slamming the former tag champion into the canvas with his Imperium (uranage). The fans lost count of how many Chicago Blackouts he connected, but oddly enough he never tried to make a pin. Instead he kept calling out Duke, but the former World champion didn't take the bait. It was clear that Billy wasn't really focused on the match, but it became obvious as he left the ring and grabbed a steel chair. He raised it and threatened to hit Tiffany, unless Duke walked out. And finally he did. Billy dropped the chair and left the ring, running toward Andrews and breaking him in half with a massive spear. The referee counted Danielson out, but to separate the two contenders a dozen of security guards had to rush to the scene, struggling to keep the two apart. WINNER: Tiffany Lynn-Page BY: Count Out, 9:54 |
