MWE Presents: Dark Web IV (night 2) Live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY Sunday, March 27th, 2022
The Academy Pre-Show Match Gold Star Match Addison McKinley © VS Emma Wakefield
- The Gold Star was on the line on the night two pre-show, just like any other match Addison McKinley will be involved in until the end of the year, or until she loses the title. Her opponent was Emma Wakefield, whose last PPV appearance was back at Below Zero, in another Gold Star match against the at-the-time champion Rainer Nordhagen. Not the most encouraging precedent, considering that not only she lost the match but got injured as well in the process, missing a month of action.l
- Emma tried to impose her rhythm from the get going, reversing Addison’s Irish whip and dropping on the canvas forcing the Gold Star to leap over her and hit the ropes on the opposite side. Second time around, Wakefield leapfrogged over her and prepared herself for Addi’s third return, this time jumping and catching the opponent with a dropkick to the face.
- The fast paced action continued with a series of arm drags by the sister of the world famous fashion designer and former assistant of Luna Smith. Having been on the backfoot ever since the bell sounded, a frustrated Addi left the ring and slammed her fist on the apron, taking a second to calm her nerves and regroup. A second was all Emma gave her before launching herself through the ropes and taking her out with a suicide dive.
- Wakefield went for another Irish whip, firing McKinley into the corner. Addi stepped onto the ropes and leaped backwards, landing on her feet behind Emma’s back. The blonde girl turned around into a roundhouse kick by the Gold Star that sent her over the top rope. Emma landed on the apron and slowly pulled herself up to her feet, ducking Addi’s kick attempt and doubling her over with a shoulder to the midsection. Grabbing the top rope with both hands, Emma slingshotted herself back in the ring and headed straight for the ropes on the opposite side, bouncing back into a standing dropkick from the champ.
- Back and forth they went, providing the fans with an exciting contest that really set the tone for the rest of the night. Emma’s running knee to the face knocked Addison on her back, but when Wakefield went for a running shooting star press, Addi was ready to counter it, raising her knees. She quickly followed with a roll-up but Wakefield kicked out in two.
- Both of them were comfortable with the frantic pace and acrobatic moves, putting up an incredible display of agility. And the fans were thankful for that. The crowd was split pretty much 50/50 when it came to who they were cheering on, though the “Captain” supporters popped loudly when she hit a beautiful springboard enziguri that gave her a very close near fall.
- High-risk moves are called that way for a reason and the Gold Star earned it the hard way when she missed a diving moonsault, landing hard on her chest. Emma tried to capitalize on her rare mistake with a hurricanrana driver that planted the champ on her face, followed by a springboard legdrop but it still wasn’t enough to keep Addi down for the three.
- The final sequence was a thing of beauty, a long series of attempted moves and counters that really showed how meticulously they prepared for this match, watching tape after tape of the respective opponent. Emma missed with the roundhouse kick, leaving herself open to Addi’s quick neckbreaker. Once again the Gold Star climbed the turnbuckle, waiting for Emma to stand to her feet before jumping and connecting a diving tornado DDT. Another win, another title defense in the books for the Gold Star. Addi stared at the fans, looking for someone in the crowd. She found Gian, Lady Magdalena and Helena Noir enjoying the show and just stared at them with a defiant and challenging look on her face.
WINNER: Addison McKinley (STILL GOLD STAR) BY: Pinfall (Diving Tornado DDT), 12:06 |
Night two opened with Elsa McCarthy standing in the ring. The General Manager has a serious look on her face, the I have an announcement to make and you're not going to like it kind of look. Raising a microphone to her lips, she began to speak.
Elsa McCarthy: Good evening New York and welcome to night 2 of Dark Web IV!
A cheap pop to begin with, getting the fans excited before giving them the bad news.
Elsa McCarthy: Last night was pretty intense, wasn't it. That match between Olly and Skylynn Reed was brutal, and while we definitely don't condone Olly's actions and we're considering options to punish his excessive cruelty. On the other hand, we wish Skylynn a quick recovery, and remind her that the door here in MWE is always open for her to come back.
The fans tributed an applause to Reed.
Elsa McCarthy: Unfortunately, Skylynn wasn't the only one getting injured last night. And no, I'm not talking about Olly. Despite everything, he's been cleared by the doctor and he will regularly be in the ring tonight. Which, if you ask me, is quite surprising.
The boos rained down loud for the former tag champion.
Elsa McCarthy: Another former student was victim of an attack last night, Trinity Thompson. Unfortunately, she can't make it to her match tonight, therefore the opening tag team match has been cancelled.
There's obviously disappointment among the fans, who were looking forward to see the two half-sisters going to battle.
Elsa McCarthy: I already talked with the people involved and found solutions for all of them. Millie Smith will be added to the battle royale as for Clyde and Tiff.. They've been impressive as a team, racking up win after win. I think they earned this shot at the MWE Tag Team titles. The TLC match is now a three way!
Just like that, the disappointment was gone. Their reaction, the chants for Tiff and Clyde put a smile on the general manager's face.
Elsa McCarthy: I'm glad you feel the same. Enjoy the night, ladies and gentlemen.
As Elsa leaves, the show cuts to the next segment.
Back from commercial now and Abby Blake is caught on camera with some casual wear on. Her ring gear clean, pressed and inside her handheld see through bag. Abby's in her head about the match stipulation. She's straight up staring into space and oblivious to her surroundings.
As Abby passes a doorway, an arm reaches out from it, grabbing her by the shoulder of her shirt and pulls her into the room. Abby let's out a startled squeal in this empty room as the man drops the hood from his head. Revealing himself as Thaddeus Duke.
Abby Blake: You scared me!
Abby said recognizing him and took a deep breath to calm her nerves. In. Out. In. Out.
Abby Blake: I thought you'd be in Manchester or Japan or somewhere else right now.
Thad smiles at her.
Thad Duke: I'm on my way to Japan but thought I'd drop by and see you. Plus...
Thad reaches for a box sitting on a chair nearby.
Thad Duke: I recall owing somebody special a Toblerone... so... here's a whole case of them.
Abby Blake: White chocolate?
Abby asked for spoilers while making her way over to the box and opened it on up.
Thad Duke: No, that's candy...
He says, as a smiles creases his lips.
Thad Duke: I'm white chocolate.
Abby Blake: Ha!
Doing her best Edna Krabappel while holding up two white chocolate toblerones.
Abby Blake: These'll cheer me up after tonight. I still have that first blood match to go through. On my PPV debut.
She threw her neck back dramatically.
Thad smiles at her.
Thad Duke: Don't forget our 'date'.
He waves a Toblerone in her face.
Thad Duke: If the candy doesn't work, I'll be back to cash in.
He winks with a smile.
Abby Blake: Date?
Blake had a little absent minded inflection in her tone.
Thad rolls his eyes with sarcasm.
Thad Duke: Don't even play.
He jokes.
Thad Duke: I remember the deal we made about the Toblerone's. You're not getting out of it that easy.
Abby Blake: You realize i could be wearing a crimson mask tonight, man? My opponent isn't exactly a pushover.
Abby shakes her head and does a quick count of her stock in her head.
Thad Duke: Then I'll nurse you back to health. I can wait, I was just reminding.
Abby nods his way
Abby Blake: Consider me reminded.
Thad Duke: Good luck out there. Show 'em what you're made of.
He sweetly gives her a kiss on her cheek.
Abby's in a bit of shock about the lips to cheek move. Though it doesn't make her forget she's got to put some boots to ass.
Abby Blake: Don't get scared, watching me creatively cause a near 7ft solid block of man stone bleed.
Abby bashfully smilies like your typical anime character you've probably come across.
Abby Blake: Cus where there's a will there's a way...I still just gotta figure out the way part of that...
Thad Duke: Just be smart. Use his weaknesses as your strengths.
As they say... the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Abby Blake: I will. Look after my toblerones for me while I get ready?
Abby then picked up her discarded ring gear and opened the door to go get ready
Thad Duke: Anything for you, doll.
First Blood Match
Abby Blake VS West Long
- The Beauty versus The Beast. Abby Blake made her surprise debut in MWE a couple of weeks ago as Alex Andrews' mystery opponent in the tag match against Luna and Long, playing a major role in securing the win for the Riot champion. The week after she took Luna to the limit, only coming up short due to West’s involvement, which led to this match. The fans certainly didn’t do her any favor, choosing a first blood match, a stipulation that definitely favored the bigger, stronger and badder opponent.
- West’s advantage was clear, I mean, just look at the size difference! But nobody truly had an idea of how much of an advantage he had until the bell sounded and Abby bravely charged at the opponent, kicking his shin and thigh trying to chop the big tree down. Her kicks barely affected the big man who just stood there and took them. Until he got bored and just stretched out his arm, grabbing Blake by the neck and squeezing her throat. Anything goes in a First Blood match, so there was nothing the referee could do stop him from choking the blonde. Abby, instead, could ‘ve just kicked him in the nuts and broke free, but she refused to take the low road, furiously kicking him on the kneecap until his leg buckled and he was forced to let go.
- Using her speed, Abby stayed away from the Warwolf, but the main issue remained unsolved. Nothing she did seemed to even scratch the powerhouse. She tried with a springboard hurricanrana but he blocked her momentum and just powerbombed her into the canvas with a loud thud. Leaving her writhing in pain, Long left the ring.
- West was a man on a mission. Focused, determined and absolutely ruthless, he was systematically tearing Blake apart, smacking the chair on her back and eliciting a cry of pain with every shot. He even hit her on the skull with all his might, and it was a miracle that the impressive strike didn’t crack her head open, or didn’t knock her out cold.
- Needless to say, not a single soul in the Madison Square Garden was supporting Luna’s bodyguard. The Warwolf didn’t care, he was here to do a job, not to make friends. Heading to the corner, he just ripped the protective padding from the top turnbuckle and exposed the steel underneath it. He then grabbed Abby by the hair and dragged her closer to the corner, slamming her head onto it. She raised her leg and planted it on the middle rope, blocking Long’s attempt. He tried a second time but she blocked this one as well, actually following with an elbow to the stomach instead. The unexpected reaction from Abby caused West to lose the grip on her hair. She immediately turned around and hit him with a knee to the guts that doubled him over. Blake gave the powerhouse a taste of his own medicine, pushing his head into the corner. Unfortunately, not with enough strength to bust that thick head of his.
- Abby’s enthusiasm and her never give up attitude was definitely something to be appreciated. She knew this was an uphill battle but she never let discouragement take over, not even when Long was absolutely dominating her. And now she was reaping the fruits, getting some momentum on her side. Long was down, breathing heavily after trying in vain to grab the faster opponent in a sort of game of cat and mouse, only to get clubbed in the back of the head with a roundhouse kick. Blake dashed toward him and slammed his face onto the chair with a curb stomp. Still no sign of blood on the Warwolf’s head.
- Not exactly how West envisioned his night to go, Abby was proving to be a tough cookie, a much bigger fight than he thought she’d be. And that pissed him off. Bad News for Abby who tried to connect her wheelbarrow facebuster but saw her attempt blocked by West who then just held her by the leg, spun around and launched her over the top rope. He quickly left the ring and kicked her as she was trying to get up after the hard impact.
- We were in West’s territory now Out here where every slam hurt more, where every shove had the potential of shove Abby against the barricade, or the steel post and do some serious damage to her back, the Warwolf was going for the kill. He put his faith, once again, in a steel chair, his weapon of choice to finally make Abby bleed and seal the deal. She was clinging on the steel post, using it to keep herself up. She turned around just in time to see Long swinging and barely ducked it. The chair hit the post and bounced back, colliding with West’s face. Well, can you believe it? A trickle of blood was coming out of his nostrils, enough to make the referee call for the bell and declare Blake the winner.
- West was furious and he took out the frustration on the poor girl. The Warwolf obliterated her with a chair shot to the head, NOW making her bleed in some sort of cosmic joke that only increased his anger. Abby took the Point Blank (fireman’s carry powerslam) that left her laid out on the floor, a sour note on her first singles win in MWE.
WINNER: Abby Blake BY: Bleeding, 10:11 |
Earlier in the evening…
We cut to the entrance of Madison Square Garden. There the cameras spot “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock and the young woman she has recently chosen to take under her wing, Fiona Osbourne, entering. Braddock has her gym bags with her and is dressed in denim jeans, sneakers, a royal purple t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. Her long blonde hair cascades freely to past the shoulders. Fiona is wearing red shorts, sandals, and a white tank top. The pair continue to walk through the entrance until they are stopped by a surprise visitor dressed in a green long sleeve dress and black leather pumps…
…Glory’s first cousin, Kayla Jones-Snow.
Glory Braddock: Kayla! What the hell are you doing here, love?
Braddock embraces her cousin in a tight hug.
Kayla Jones: Just here to support my family. That’s all.
They break the embrace and Glory looks at her skeptically.
Glory Braddock: Really? Is that all?
Kayla Jones: Ok, you got me! I’m also here on my Farewell Tour! Hopefully MWE has all of the contracts ready for me to sign so I can make an OFFICIAL appearance in this battle royal tonight! I even had my husband bring enough calendars with me to give everyone I eliminate a copy of the brand new #NeedsMoreKayla Calendars!
Glory Braddock: Calendars, of YOU, for those eliminated in tonight’s battle royal?
Kayla shakes her head.
Kayla Jones: No, those were the 2019 and 2020 editions of the calendar! This time they feature various models in my agency! And to prove I’m not sexist in any way, I have two versions…if you have a preference towards women, we have the female models on one variation of the calendar. If you have a preference towards men, we have the male models on a variation of the calendar.
Braddock rolls her eyes. Fiona grins from ear to ear. Kayla notices her and pats her on the back.
Kayla Jones: I would have offered her a spot on the calendar, she would have made a great Miss April, but I get the feeling that she is more attracted to wrestling than she is to modeling.
Fiona Uh-huh, I’m learning a lot, Ms. Snow.
Kayla Jones: Kayla. We’re friends, Fiona, call me Kayla.
Fiona nods her head.
Glory Braddock: Well good luck tonight in your battle royal tonight, mate.
Kayla Jones: Back at you, Glory. I really hope you can get the job done tonight. Win that world championship.
Glory Braddock: I will try, but Kayla this is about something far bigger than just winning a title. Tonight is about respect. Tonight is about making a statement. And I guarantee one way or another, Brookford and everyone else will respect me by the time tonight is over.
JJ Night is backstage doing push ups, warming up for his match for the Junior Heavyweight Championship. He soon notices the camera there, watching him and he decides to keep on going, finishing his warm up. Once he is done, he stands up and takes a drink of water before exhaling slowly and nodding.
JJ Night: Tonight is one that I’ve been working toward since I’ve come back from my injury. I surprised the world when I joined that battle royal, earned my shot for the Junior Heavyweight Championship and looked to stop Echo’s reign of terror. But then? Then something changed during that time. But still, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from becoming the Junior Heavyweight Champion. I tried to win it once before, but things ended up with Echo and I both laid out.
He sighs and shakes his head.
JJ Night: It was not ideal. But still, I wanted one more shot and I knew I was going to get it but then? Then Tiana came into the picture. It’s obvious that her and I don’t see eye to eye anymore. But it is what it is. She might still think differently, but I still consider her a friend. A lot of us have a connection that you can never run away from. We all came up together and because of that? We should try and stick together. But sadly? We don’t.
JJ pauses and shrugs.
JJ Night: It is what it is. I can’t change what people think or want to do. I can’t change what people think about me either. I’m just out here trying to do the right thing. Will I mess up sometimes? Sure, I’m a human. But unlike a lot of people, especially in this match? I accept my mistakes and I try and make up for them. Because let’s be real, I wasn’t a great person when I was The Kid. I was trying to be something that I’m not. I was being someone that I’m not. But now? This guy standing in front of you with his heart on his sleeve? That’s the real me. That’s the real JJ Night and I’m not going anywhere.
He steps closer to the camera.
JJ Night: It’s why I tapped out last week. Tiana had me dead to rights. She had me beat and I wasn’t going to let my selfish pride get in my way again. I wasn’t going to be put on the sidelines again! Hell no!
He waves his hand in front of him and shakes his head.
JJ Night: Nothing is going to stop me from ending Echo’s reign and becoming the greatest Junior Heavyweight Champion that this company has ever seen. Tiana being in the match is just another obstacle for me to climb and overcome. It doesn’t matter to me that I haven’t gotten past either of them yet. The thing is? I’m going to do it tonight and I’m going to be the one standing tall out there. And the thing is? The two of them are in my playground now. My older cousin is Chris Night and if you couldn’t tell, we share the same abilities. That ladder? It suits me best and I know how to use it.
He nods.
JJ Night: Tiana and Echo are talented, smart and very capable but tonight? It’s my night. It’s my time to shine and I’m going to be the one to stand on top of that ladder and pull down the Junior Heavyweight Championship. And then?
He steps closer and leans toward the camera, mere inches away from it.
JJ Night: I’m going to make this Junior Heavyweight Championship mean something. Not just that? I’m going to put it back in the hands of a guy who comes from Nightfall gym. You see, Corey Grimes was the first to hold this championship and he did it with pride and dignity and as for me? I’m going to do the same. JJ Night… Junior Heavyweight Champion. That’s my dream right now. And in a few moments? It becomes a reality.
JJ walks off the screen and the scene cuts away.
Junior Heavyweight Championship Match Ladder Match Echo © VS Tiana Petrova-Hammond VS JJ Night
- Echo’s reign of terror has been going on for ten months, vanquishing every opponent that was put in front including her opponents for tonight. Truth being told, in her last defenses against Tiana and JJ, the Australian struggled a bit, barely managing to retain. In different ways, and with different motivations, the two Academy graduate pushed the Australian to her limits, making this match all the more interesting.
- Tiana Petrova-Hammond seemed off her game. what happened last night to Trinity Thompson had clearly upset the Russian-American who was struggling to put her focus into this match. Echo noticed and drew her attention back to it in her own, unique way. With a thunderous uppercut to the chin. “Forget about her!” She barked as she kept hitting Ti with hard strikes, as if that was the easiest thing to do. Maybe it was for her, certainly not for the first ever Gold Star who didn’t even manage to protect herself from the flurry of punches and knee strikes, inevitably getting tossed out of the ring by Echo who then shook her head at Tiana.
- JJ planted the champ on top of her head with a poison rana. With a great display of athleticism he quickly got to his feet and, as soon as Echo did the same, clocked her with an enziguri that sent her over the top rope. He clapped his hands, inviting the fans to do the same. They followed along, the whole MSG garden applauding rhythmically as the young man prepared himself to jump onto Echo with some acrobatic maneuver. But as he was coming at full speed toward the ropes, ready to leap, Tiana slid back in under the bottom rope and used her own body to trip JJ over, sending him face first into the canvas.
- Having finally shrugged off whatever was holding her back in the opening moments, Tiana was back doing what she did best. Her MMA influenced style was really doing a number on JJ, who was being bombarded with hard and precise kicks. A jumping knee strikes sent him flying on his back, but he didn’t stay down for long, grabbing onto the ropes to push himself up.
- The two kids had somewhat of a fallout in the past few weeks, and what better place than a ring to settle all their differences. The battle between the two of them, intense, stiff but fair, was interrupted by the Junior Heavyweight champion reminding everyone that this was a ladder match. The Aussie introduced the first weapon, necessary to win the match, into the contest though the first use she made of it was to floor both her opponents by just running it into them.
- Echo targeted mostly JJ, smacking the ladder onto him and taunting him with that “Superman” nickname that has been tossed around a lot lately, The Junior Heavyweight champion finally put the weapon to the use for which it was born and tried to climb it to retrieve her title. Tiana didn’t think twice and pushed the ladder off, causing Echo to fall all the way down. Ti didn’t give her any room to breathe, dropping some knees to her head before the Australian could even get up. Grabbing her by the shoulders, she then launched her into JJ’s mid section and superkicked the former Academy student, knocking him down as he dragged Echo along with a DDT. Having cleaned her path, she then started her ascension. A surprisingly quick recover allowed Night to reach her at the top, where the two younglings began to trade blows: JJ won the exchange and lifted Tiana for a reckless superplex from the top of the ladder.
- A second ladder was introduced by Echo after she broke the first one in half by powerbombing JJ onto it after setting it up in the corner. As she started to climb, Tiana once again was there to stop her with some hard forearm strikes to the back. The Russian-American then grabbed the opponent’s foot and dragged her down, causing her face to hit one of the steps.
- Two ladders, one next to the other and Tiana and Echo climbing them side by side in a race to the top occasionally interrupted by a punch to the ribs to slow down or stop the opponent. They both made it, the title hanging inches above their heads. But in order to retrieve it and walk out of the MSG with the title around their waist, they had to get rid of the opponent first. They started fighting in precarious balance, the ladders shaking under their feet every time they hit the other with rights and lefts. A third one, the longest available, was set obliquely against the one where Tiana was. JJ ran up it and, once on top, delivered a roundhouse kick to the back of his fellow former student’s head, pushing her into Echo. The two fell ruinously to the mat below, a look of concern appeared on Night’s face as he checked down on them. The referee was already there, and he didn’t make any injury sign. With a sigh of relief, JJ unhooked the belt and retrieved, celebrating the first title in his career.
WINNER: JJ Night (NEW JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION) BY: Title Retrieval, 12:49 |
Backstage at the ready area we find a surprise entrant for tonight’s battle royal; Kayla Jones-Snow. The ginger is dressed in her black and crimson red ring attire. A confident gaze is etched across her lovely face. She also has a calendar in her right hand.
Kayla Jones: I am Kayla Jones! And it is an honor to be right here in MWE, right here for Dark Web IV!
The crowd cheers loudly.
Kayla Jones: Some of you may know me…all of you know my family here, such as Glory Braddock, your next MWE World Champion, she’s my cousin, and then there’s my niece Kimberly Williams, she may be a little nuts but I love her! But not all of you know ME in particular. I mean, you should have at least HEARD of me…I mean, I have been wrestling since 2001. I have broken my neck and yet still managed to finish matches.
She smirks arrogantly.
Kayla Jones: Yeah, yeah, I just advertised a weakness, but hell, it isn’t like all of my opponents tonight don’t already know about my bad neck. I’m ready for it, so bring your worst. Hell, I have been going through hell since the beginning of my career and I have come out smelling like a rose. In my career I have been a two time world champion and a two time hall of famer. But more importantly, I know that my career is nearing its end…
The fans boo in the background. Kayla nods her head, acknowledging them.
Kayla Jones: I get it but hey, all good things must come to an end and so must my career. My own sister Angelica Jones ended her career last year in one of the best matches I have personally witnessed as she battled her own daughter, my niece Marie Jones. In a passing of the torch moment, my niece beat her mother in the center of the ring. They showed great class, sportsmanship, and gave the wrestling world a memory that will live on forever. I was proud of both of them. Many thought that I had already retired before my sister. And I can see where people got that idea, I mean, I hadn’t been very active in the ring. I hadn’t been active in over a year. Had I just quietly rode off into the sunset? Had I retired with no fanfare and no fuss?
Jones shakes her head.
Kayla Jones: Not on your life! I’m not about to end my career that way! That’s when I decided to go on the Kayla Jones Farewell Tour! It began with the GCW Civil War Match back in February and I thoroughly enjoyed putting on a show for the fans! Now it continues here tonight in MWE at Dark Web IV when I put on another great show for the fans of MWE! Now is this just a one off? One and done?
Kayla shrugs her shoulders.
Kayla Jones: Who knows? See, if I win, I get a title match. So maybe this is the beginning of something bigger and better? But I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. First thing is first and that is the Kayla Jones Farewell Tour. And that tour keeps trucking right here in Madison Square Garden when I kick some teeth down some people’s throats!
She holds up the calendar.
Kayla Jones: But don’t worry! Those of you who I eliminate from the battle royal will receive as a consolation prize a #NeedsMoreKayla Calendar! With my gorgeous models from my very own modeling agency! Yes, I run a modeling agency too. Damn, I’m so multi-faceted!
We cut to a feed of static, where we can only hear an evil-like laugh, one that’s ominous and almost Joker like. The grainy feed starts to clear up and standing there must be Julian Savell, as it’s a man with a fur coat on, an umbrella on his shoulder as we get a view of him from the back.
Julian Savell: Hahaha… Tonight? Tonight is about revenge. Lucie… I didn’t forget what you did to Faith. Out of your rage and jealousy, you hurt her. You hurt the one who was supposed to carry my legacy. It wasn’t going to be Riley and her recklessness. It definitely wasn’t going to be Hal, who wanted to play housewife. Then you have my brother, Ozzie… An addict. An idiot. It wasn’t him either. No… Faith was the chosen one.
Savell turned toward the camera and of course, his mask was on but you could see his eyes glaring through it as he yelled.
Julian Savell: BUT YOU FUCKING RUINED IT! YOU DID! YOU STUPID CUNT!
He looked down and shook his head before he started to laugh again.
Julian Savell: You and your family are nothing but a menace to this business and I will take all of you out. You think I might want to kill you or something but where would the fun be in that? No, no, no… I don’t want to kill any of you because I want to play with you. I want you to play this little wrestling game with me, so that I can hurt you.
He twirled the umbrella in his hand as he looked at it with a grin.
Julian Savell: I want to hurt you, really, really bad. I want you to feel immeasurable depths of torture and pain that you will never be able to come back from. I want you to suffer your entire, MISERABLE-FUCKING-LIFE!
He slammed the loaded umbrella on the ground and it made a cracking sound.
Texas Death Match
Lucie Callaway VS Julian Savell
- Surprise Julian! Lucie didn’t come to the match alone. Apparently, the MMA star Zion Momo’a, a close friend of Callaway, received the authorization to stay in her corner as an insurance against Rebekkah’s or Olly’s possibly interfering. There was a short argument between the parts involved and the referee who assured that the GM allowed his presence, but that was quickly settled by Lucie’s rolling back elbow that shut Julian’s mouth close.
- With all the history between them, it was really no surprise to see things escalate right away. After all, the stipulation of the match was definitely pushing them in that direction, not that they actually need it. But to pin your opponent and then keep them down for a count of ten, you have to do a lot of damage, so might as well get a head start, right? Having a man on the outside saved the competitor the bother to leave the ring to retrieve weapons, they could just ask them. Zion handed a chair to Lucie who smacked Savell on the face with it, making the first cover attempt. Savell kicked out in two.
- A deja-vu from earlier this year, Lucie hit Julian with the same fury she hit Faith back in January, and the same intention to put him on the shelf. Unlike the Valedictorian, Julian was able to protect himself, even in unconventional ways. Rebekkah handed him his trademark loaded umbrella which he used to as a defensive weapon to parry the chair shots as well as an offensive one by plunging it in Lucie’s stomach.
- Hopefully Julian has some spare umbrellas at home because this one came to a bad end. After hitting Lucie with it a number of times and press it against her neck as he connected a russian leg sweep, the Savior Of Wrestling swung it down to Calaway’s skull with all his might, breaking it in half. He also cracked her head open but that didn’t bother him as much as breaking his favorite toy. Quickly getting over the emotional damage, he hooked the leg and obtained a count of three, but then Lucie got up at five.
- Many fans considered this a family feud, an extension of one of the most intense rivalry of 2021 between Faith and Tiff. And to keep up with the family tradition, Lucie brought her sister’s traditional nail studded baseball bat to the party. The expression on Julian’s face immediately changed as she started swinging it like a mad woman, luckily for him lacking precision. He dodged most of the blows, but the one he couldn’t avoid left him with a wound in the abdomen area. He folded in two, his arms on his stomach to stop the blood loss and his eyes glaring with anger at Callaway who was approaching to inflict the fatal blow. Julian blocked the shot with his bare hands, the nails digging into the palms but who cared? Much better than getting his head split open.. He then yanked the bat away from Lucie and threw it out of the ring.
- Callaway showed a sadistic streak -it must run in the family-, when she stepped and stomped on the wound crossing Julian’s abdomen. He cursed and rolled toward the ropes but Zion pushed him back in, not allowing him to catch the break he needed. This obviously caused some friction between him and Rebkkah but the referee was quick to defuse the situation before it escalated further.
- The intensity didn’t diminish as minutes passed, and the toll of this crude and violent battle began to weigh down on the two competitors. Standing up after being knocked down was getting harder and harder, Lucie barely beat the count after Jules connected his patented sitout inverted suplex slam on a pile of chairs and a couple of minutes later he was the one saving himself at the last second after a black asian mist/chain assisted Killing Joke combination.
- With the ever growing tension both inside and outside the ring, it was only a matter of “when” it was going to happen. not “if”. What, you ask? Rebekkah and Momo’a going at it, of course. And in all honesty, it was a very interesting fight between the two. A well-estabilished fighter like the Buzzsaw with a 9-4 record in MMA against a well trained former Israeli special force soldier going at it. Hard to tell what triggered it, even harder to say who was coming out on top. The fans would have loved to know, but the moment Rebekkah pulled out a baton she kept hidden in her boot, Lucie decided to get involved and rescue her friend, hitting Julian’s bodyguard with a baseball slide and learning a valuable lesson. NEVER turn your back to a Savell. Jules was quick to hit her with an inverted DDT and called for the Golden God Kick. Zion tried to warn Lucie, he even tried to stop Julian who was wrapping the chain Callaway used before around his boot. But he only wasted his breath. Savell kicked Lucie in the skull, the chain even boosted the damage done. Enough to keep Callaway down for the three and ten count.
WINNER: Julian Savell BY: Last Man Standing (Golden God Kick), 18:40 |
Wade Manson: Are you trying to one up me?
The visuals remained black, but there was clear audio pouring through the speakers. The voice sounded muffled, as if it was on the phone. What’s more, the voice wasn’t too familiar to the MWE crowd. Of course, some could pinpoint it, but others were left with questions.
RAZE: Oh you think you’re the only one who can get a singles contract? I know you caught my win in Millenium last week, where’s your win, eh?
The responding voice was a little more familiar, belonging to RAZE who had just made his debut a short week ago.
Wade Manson: That wasn’t exactly my fault, mate.
The visual remained black as the two continued on.
RAZE: Don’t blame your girlfriend. Besides, you trained her. Way I see it, you’re responsible for how she performs in the ring as well.
Wade Manson: How about we keep this civil and you refrain from mentioning her?
RAZE: You’re the one that made a little contest out of this, Wade. Well watch me win this battle royal at Dark Web IV. I ain’t competin’ with nobody!
The visuals kicked in, just as RAZE was hanging up a cord phone onto the wall. Why he was suddenly in the 90s, we will never know, but he had an irritated look on his face. Scousers like RAZE and Wade had a habit of raising their voice, and coming off aggressive even when they didn’t mean it. This was just a friendly competition between the two old buds, but to an outsider, it may look like the two were becoming increasingly angry with each other. RAZE turned, ripping the cord phone off the wall and tossing it across the floor. He leaned against the hard counter in front of him, now turning his attention to the camera in front of him.
RAZE: When I first saw that I was in this battle royal for my second match with Millenium, I thought to meself - well RAZE, you dun lucked out, haven’t ye? Tossin’ slags over me shoulder is what I’m about, and now you tell me all I gotta do is toss ‘em over the top rope this time and I’ll win? A future title shout at the Cloud Gate or Riot Championship at that. Not only do I toss ‘em around the ring, but I usually do it with only one of me arms!
He flexed with both arms, before moving to his right side, showing the arm he usually used to complete his Atom Bomb (Chingona Bomb). In truth, he had multiple surgeries on his left arm and though it appeared just as strong as his right, he knew it couldn’t be. He resorted to hiding any past injuries, and making use of the power he still had. To be honest, it was still more than most, so he was still rather confident in his strength.
RAZE: But my day is made so much better when I heard that the MWE Faithful actually didn’t vote for a typical over-the-top battle royal - but instead, for a hardcore battle royal!
His serious expression, which had been written across his face ever since getting off the phone with Wade, suddenly spread into a grin. He nodded his head up and down, and couldn’t help but let go a hard chuckle.
RAZE: They used to call me the Scouse Psychopath! My former partner and I were called the MURDER City Saints! Ultraviolent is me favorite thing in wrestling!
He runs a single hand over his smooth head.
RAZE: For anyone smart enough to catch my match with Morag Bean last week? That was only just the beginning, the start in a long line of destruction. This battle royal, though chaotic, gives me just the right opportunity I need to showcase my power, showcase my strength, and showcase why I’m someone you should be paying attention to moving forward. I’m done living in the shadow of others, and not one of these others is going to eclipse ME! Put your fists up, MWE, you’re going to need it.
Cut.
We arrive backstage where we see Battle Royal hopeful Veronica Sawyer sitting opposite her tag team partner, Matt Stone, in their locker room with Veronica already looking stunning in her wrestling attire and Matt wearing his own T-shirt cause self promotion is totally hip these days and a pair of jeans.
Matt Stone: I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how big tonight is, Veronica. It’s not going to help us as a team but it is an opportunity for you to really make a name for yourself here on your own.
Veronica nods her head as she takes a sip from her bottle of water, using a straw as to not mess up her makeup, before she sets the bottle down on the floor beside where she’s sitting.
Veronica Sawyer: As if I would miss a chance to be in the spotlight, whether it’s with you or on my own, that’s the beauty of a battle royal. Anyone can walk away the winner if they use their brain as well as their muscles inside of the ring.
Matt Stone: Well that’s why I have prepared for you this final test, of sorts, to make sure you’re good and ready for this match. I know you’ve been in the gym a lot this week so I’m not worried about your muscles, it’s your mind I’m gonna test now. Your mind, and your big, beautiful sass that only you can wield.
Veronica raises one eyebrow as she can’t keep the smirk from tugging at the corners of her mouth.
Veronica Sawyer: I’m glad you said sass.
Matt Stone: Well of course, what else could I have said?
He shakes his head, feigning innocence. He then reached over to the side and grabbed what looked like a pile of cards one might use to teach a toddler to speak.
Matt Stone: In honour of that sass, I have prepared something for you to really show it off, so to speak.
Veronica appears to be curious as she leans forward in her chair slightly.
Veronica Sawyer: Well don’t keep me in suspense any longer.
Matt Stone: Alright, alright, so with this match you’re going to be faced with an overwhelming amount of opponents and you’re going to need to recognize them and their weaknesses immediately. So, when I show you a name, you tell me their weakness off the top of your head. Simple, right?
Veronica Sawyer: Yes, I believe I understand the concept of your little game.
Matt shuffled the cards in his hands as she spoke and then immediately pulled up the first one-
Matt Stone: Devon Slayton
Veronica Sawyer: He’s a relic, slow and old, enough said I think.
He nods along with her assessment and pulls up the next card.
Matt Stone: Alan Envy
Veronica Sawyer: Desperate to stay relevant, it’s sad.
Matt Stone: Really is
He pulls up the next card, tossing away the previous one like the other.
Matt Stone: Crystal Zdunich
Veronica Sawyer: Ha! Don’t make me laugh now.
Veronica places one hand over her mouth in a feeble attempt to cover up her laughter. He chuckles with her, seeing that as a reasonable response, tossing the card aside.
Matt Stone: Okay, lightning round
He quickly holds up three cards for her.
Matt Stone: Pierce Manning, Blair Jackson, JPK
Veronica holds up three fingers and she lowers each one when she makes her assessment of each participant in the Battle Royal.
Veronica Sawyer: Loudmouth, flake, wannabe. Are you going to give me any difficult ones here soon?
Matt tosses the rest of the cards aside, shrugging.
Matt Stone: Looks like you’re as prepared as you’re gonna be…except for…
He leans towards her and reaches behind her ear, making a little move like a street magician would and pulls out one final card, holding it up for her.
Matt Stone: Veronica Sawyer
Veronica pauses for a moment, almost as if she was giving this some thought, pulling herself up from her chair to get up on her feet. She pushes her blonde hair back behind her shoulders, and follows this with placing her hands on her hips in a confident stance.
Veronica Sawyer: Winner.
Matt applauds her, standing up off his chair as well.
Matt Stone: I have nothing left to teach you, go out there and kick some sass!
Veronica Sawyer: I think it goes without saying that dinner will be on you tonight.
Veronica gives Matt a small wink as she walks past him, placing one hand on his shoulder for a brief moment to give him an affectionate squeeze.
Dark Web Hardcore Battle Royale Match
Crystal Zdunich VS Kate Steele VS Alan Envy VS Pierce Manning VS Sophie O'Brian VS Donovan Keane VS Jay Gallagher VS RAZE VS Blair Jackson VS Veronica Sawyer VS Betsy Gallagher VS Jordan Parker-Kane VS Devon Slayton VS Siobhan Mahoney VS Devin Hearst VS Morag Bean and more?
- The Cross-Brand Battle Royale has been somewhat a tradition in every Dark Web with the sole exception of the 2020 edition of the recurring PPV. Hearst made his MWE debut in the first one with an incredible performance that still wasn’t enough to win him the whole thing: He fought for over 40 minutes, eliminating 3 competitors only to have his thunder stolen by the last entrant, Eliza Foley. Is tonight going to be his night?
- A shot to either the Riot or Cloud Gate championship was the reward for the sole survivor of this match. Eliminations can occur in the traditional way, by throwing the opponent over the top rope, submissions or pinfall. And all the weapons surrounding the ring were legal. There was one referee on each side of the ring to help the official to keep track of who’s eliminated and who’s just out there to bring some toys to the party, a sixth official was sitting at the timekeeper table in the not-so-remote opportunity that the main one got injured in what promised to be a chaotic match.Devon Slayton and Crystal Zdunich were the unlucky ones drawn to start the match. And nobody could blame them for not doing absolutely nothing for the first two minutes, a sort of pact between them to save their energy and increase their chances to go all the way to the end.
- Another unlucky draw for Devin Hearst who came in as number 3, The fans welcomed him with a loud pop, to which he answered with a smile. Though you could see he was still cursing under his breath at the thought of the uphill battle he would have to fight. At the end of the ramp, rather than entering the ring, he turned right, looking for some weapon to start the night the right way. A golf bag caught his eye and he took a moment to decide which club he wanted to use. He immediately focused on the Irons, much more indicated for the use he had in mind. He tried several, with shorter or longer shafts, smaller or bigger clubheads and eventually his decision fell on the number 6. With that he entered the ring and immediately swung at Devon’s head, knocking him down. Crystal charged in but she got hit in the stomach with the grip and bashed in the head with it. As she went down, Devin pressed the club against her throat, choking her. Slayton kicked him on the lower back and got the attention and the ire of the Big Boss. Christina and Devon tried to team up against the former World champion but it didn’t go well for them. Zdunich got launched over the top rope and eliminated, Slayton got brained by a shot so hard that it bent the iron club and pinned in the middle of the ring. (
Crystal Zdunich by Devin Hearst [1], Devon Slayton by Devin Hearst [2] ) - If the fans weren’t into raptures for Hearst already, this quick double elimination definitely did the trick. And Devin soaked into it, playing with the crowd and riling them up even more. There were still some spare seconds before the next entrant and the former World champion used them to leave the ring and grab a chair, unfolding it in the middle of the ring and waiting for his next victim. Morag Bean came to the ring prepared, armed with a cane. That put a smile on Hearst’s face as he stood up from his chair, folded it and received Morag, parrying her cane shot with his own weapon.
- ]RAZE was in the house. After a successful debut, the English brawler was looking to continue his momentum, and while winning the rumble as the fifth entrant sounded like a titanic task for a man who’s just coming back to the scene after a long hiatus, the hardcore rules would definitely be playing in his favor. He showed up with a brass knuckle, dodging Morag’s cane shot and blasting her with it, leaving her on the mat. He went to do the same to Devin but once again the chair proved to be a wonderful shield, blocking the punch. It still worked as an offensive weapon too as Raze learned when Hearst drove it down his skull.
- Morag was done for, and RAZE would have eliminated her with a gorilla press to the outside if her bodyguard Meera Makara didn’t catch her in mid-air. He considered attacking the giant Indian, but the buzzer going off signaling the entrance of Donovan Keane changed his mind. The one half of Nightfall Rising immediately added his mix of speed, agility and unpredictability to the mix. He ducked Devin’s chair shot and jumped on the middle rope, bouncing back with an enziguri that knocked the former champion down. Then it was RAZE’s turn, a Pele kick was enough to put him down. Morag was about to get back in the ring but he didn’t allow her to. Borrowing Hearst’s chairs, he unfolded it and used it as a springboard to jump across the ring and it Bean with a superman punch. And this time, not even Meera could save the Cannibal Queen. (
Morag Bean by Donovan Keane [1] ) - The ring started to get crowded as Millie Smith, Siobhan Mahoney and Alan Envy entered the ring before any other elimination was made. Siobhan had her trusted Shillelagh, and she immediately put it to use against Alan, reiterating once again her dislike for men of the cloth. Devin and RAZE were just punching the shit out of each other while Donnie focused on Millie thinking he could get an east elimination on the rookie, and almost had to leave the match when she planted him with a DDT on Devin’s chair.
- Next up was a much appreciated return, the former Tag Team champion Javen. Simon has been working with his brother backstage ever since stepping away from the ring, but the call of the Garden and a hardcore battle royale were impossible to resist. Although some wouldn’t consider it a smart thing to do, he believed that a ladder could be a viable weapon in a battle royale. And at first, he seemed to have a point as his weapon of choice allowed him to take down everyone, getting him an ovation from the fans.
- The two minutes were once again coming to a close, and soon the eleventh competitor would enter the rumble, marking the halfway point. but before that happened, Donnie left the match, courtesy of RAZE’s lariat. The buzzer sounded, and Blair Jackson made her way to the ring, apparently in no rush (
Donovan Keane by RAZE [1] ) - Simon McMillion was having the time of his life, and the fans were loving seeing him in action, proof that his legacy and the memory he left were still very much alive. His decision to set up the ladder to dive on Millie with a swanton bomb left everyone quite perplexed. And the reason was simple, up there he was an easy target for everyone. Specifically, it was Siobhan who stepped up to show him why this was a big mistake, pushing the ladder and throwing Javen out of the ring. As much as everyone would have loved to see the Thrillkiller doing what he does best, it wasn’t in the cards tonight as Javen had to say goodbye. Or maybe not? Seeing how he was falling to the floor, Simon tried to desperately jump off the ladder and incredibly landed on the commentary table, saving himself. And now, he was faced with quite the conundrum. How the hell is he going to get back in the ring?
- A solution came when the entrant number 12 Nina made it to the ring. She immediately eliminated Siobhan by blocking her kick and locking her in the Leg Constrictor, getting her to tap out pretty much at the same time Envy was eliminated by a double chair shot from Hearst and RAZE who then threw him out of the ring like trash. Nina then rolled under the bottom rope, recovered the ladder and set it up between the commentators’ table and the apron, creating a bridge Javen could walk to get back into the ring. (
Siobhan Mahoney by Nina [1], Alan Envy by Devin Hearst [3] & RAZE [2] ) - The friendship between the former intern and the former Tag Champion was no secret, and if Nina helping Javen to get back in the ring wasn’t proof enough, seeing how they got each other’s back during a match that’s traditionally every man for himself was the definitive evidence. This lead to another alliance forming, between Devin Hearst and RAZE. They had already taken out Alan together, why wouldn’t they join forces against a duo that was starting to be a wrench in their plans to win? This left Millie dealing with Jackson, at least until Kayla Jones retirement tour stopped in MWE.
- The aunt of MWE superstar Kimberly Williams and Jessica Lasiewicz didn’t come to play. She blasted Blair with her Winter Is Coming then turned her focus on Millie, who was using the ropes to pick herself up. She seized her up and hit the Kaylan Wind Kick (sweet chin music), eliminating the Academy graduate. (
Millie Smith by Kayla Jones [1] ) - For one competitor going, another one came in and it was Sophie O’Brian’s turn. On the other side of the ring, Nina proved how effective the Systema techniques she learned from Yulia were, taking RAZE down with The Fang (one finger takedown). The fans wanted to see one last swanton from Javen before he went back to his road agent role and she was all for making that possible, one last hurrah for her friend. She set up a table and, with Javen’s help, laid RAZE onto it. Simon then went to the top rope and connected the swanton bomb, for the joy of the 20000 inside the MSG. If this had culminated with the Englishman’s elimination, their joy would have been even greater, but RAZE got his shoulder up in two.
- All good things must come to an end, and so did Javen’s run in the rumble, courtesy of RAZE’s Atomic Bomb. Coincidentally, Nina was eliminated as well by Devin’s Sunset Rider, performed on top of a steel chair. (
Javen by RAZE [3], Nina by Devin Hearst [4] ) - Another debut as Aphrodite Noel stepped in a MWE ring for the first time. She saw Jackson desperately hanging on the ropes for dear life and tried to eliminate her, but Blair slid back in the ring and saved herself. Dite then got herself involved with Kayla and Sophie, the three of them trading strikes and blows for a rare moment of pure wrestling amidst the chaos that was this battle royale.
- Now that Nina and Javen were gone, the common front of Hearst and Rzae had no longer reason to exist. The former allies went back to being enemies as RAZE obliterated the former World champion with the First Degree. They were still fighting when entrant number 16, Veronica Sawyer made her way to the ring.
- A battle royale wasn’t really Blair’s favorite match type, but she did well up until the moment Sophie eliminated her via pinfall with the Death Of Wisdom. She didn’t appreciate being eliminated and laid waste of Sophie with the Red White & Bruised superkick, leaving her flattened for an easy elimination by Aphrodite. (
Blair Jackson by Sophie O’Brian [1], Sophie O'Brian by Aphrodite Noel [1] ) - Two more entrants joined the fight, Betsy Gallagher and Matt Stone. The former Intercontinental champion immediately went to rescue Veronica, who was about to be eliminated by RAZE. The duo known as PCP then began working together which called for a reunion of the team of Hearst and RAZE. The odd pairing was working quite well together, though the reasons for their alliance will remain a mystery. One thing for sure, it helped them survive so far, considering Devin was the third to enter and RAZE the fifth. As effective as they were though, they lacked the chemistry Matt and Veronica honed in all the time they shared a ring, and PCP was getting the best of them.
- Jordan Parker-Kane walked to the ring with a box of light tubes in hand, determined to kick the turn up the violence to eleven in the final part of the contest. It had been a while since a weapon was brought in, and that made the fans grow a bit comfortable playing by the rules. They weren’t ready for Jordan and his new found violent side. He counted up how many opponents were left, seven, pulled out an equal number of tubes and smacked one on the head of each opponent, turning this into a bloodbath. None of them was spared, but while Devin and RAZE wiped off the blood from their eyes and moved on, everyone else seemed way more bothered by the wound on their heads. Especially Veronica, who looked horrified at the blood on her hands. Showing no mercy, RAZE lifted her over his head in a gorilla press slam but Matt pulled her back down, hitting the Brit with an uppercut.
- Devin, instead, was chasing Jordan around the ring, stopping when he slid under the bottom rope. That was when Hearst realized that Matt and Veronica were about to eliminate RAZE. He rushed to help him (again, why? He had all the interest in eliminating some competition) and kicked Sawyer so hard in the back of the head that Jordan’s tube shot felt like a gentle pat. RAZE kicked Matt between the legs and flipped him over the top rope while Devin proceeded to pin Veronica for the 1, 2, 3. (
Matt Stone by RAZE [4], Veronica Sawyer by Devin Hearst [5] ) - Jay Gallagher’s enthusiasm and freshness allowed him to score a quick elimination, just the time to step through the ropes and pick up Kayla for the Jay Kick, and the count of three. The other Gallagher, Betsy, tried to put down Dite with the British End but the former Valiant Mayhem and Lion Heart champion kicked out in two. The two women kept fighting a little longer until Aphrodite knocked Gallagher down and connected the Ex-Communication (curb stomp) onto a chair someone had slid in the ring. (
Kayla Jones by Jay Gallagher [1], Betsy Gallagher by Aphrodite Noel [2] ) - The last two competitors entered the ring, completing the field. They were Kate Steele with number 21 and Pierce Manning with the lucky 22. Kate was a true flash in the pan as she was soon eliminated by RAZE with a brutal punch to the side of the head delivered with his trusted brass knuckles he incredibly found after losing it early in the match. Pierce, instead, debuted a new finisher, a rope assisted piledriver he not-so-originally called To Be The Man(ning), planting Jay’s head on a trash can that was randomly near the corner. Surely he would have loved to do that on Donnie, but since his wife’s ex had already been eliminated, his tag partner will have to do. (
Kate Steele by RAZE [5], Jay Gallagher by Pierce Manning [1]] ) - RAZE had just matched Devin for number of eliminations, and he flexed it on the former World Champ. Devin smiled, ironically applauded him and then floored him with a stiff right hand. They started off as opponents, developed a sort of partnership through the match, became rivals and allied once again. And now they were ending the match as bitter enemies, just beating the crap out of each other. It was incredible to see how they still had that much fight left in them, considering they’ve been in the ring almost for the entirety of the rumble. Devin was on the ropes, barely able to stand after that last exchange. It was RAZE’s chance to score the biggest elimination of the night, to take out the Big Boss and set the record for eliminations, taking his spot in the final three. He charged with a clothesline, tumbling the former world champion over the top rope. Hearst, though, wasn’t going down alone, hanging on RAZE’s trunks and dragging him out as well. Both men touched the ground at the same time, and stayed there, exhausted. (
Devin Hearst by RAZE [6], RAZE by Devin Hearst [6]) - All of a sudden, Pierce and Aphrodite were the last two in the ring. The Man never hid his hatred for the Hardcore stipulation being added but he surely made the best out of it, helped by a lucky draw. He connected his patented rotating belly to back suplex side slam on Aphrodite, dropping her onto the thumbtacks and immediately hooking her leg. The former Valiant superstar couldn’t kick out in time, and Manning started his celebrations. (
Aphrodite Noel by Pierce Manning [2] ) - Hold on a second! JORDAN PARKER-KANE! That’s right, he was never eliminated, he left the ring when Hearst chased him and had been hiding under the ring ever since. That’s how the chair that eliminated Betsy, the trash can Jay got dropped onto and these tacks got in the ring, he was the one sliding them in when nobody was watching! And now, he was bringing his master plan to completion, waiting for Pierce to turn around to hit him with the Bomaye knee strike. Just like in his brutal match against his brother in Valiant, he had wrapped some barbed wire around his knee pad, taking out Manning who was already anticipating his rematch against Alex Andrews. (
Pierce Manning by Jordan Parker-Kane [1])
WINNER: Jordan Parker-Kane BY: Last One Standing, 57:31 |
The scene opens up in a gym, we hear someone hitting a heartbeat before we can see whom it is. The camera pans over to show Alex Andrews furiously punching the heavy bag, her brow furrowed her hands taped up. She seems rather focused at the task at hand as she is slightly startled as she realizes the camera's presence.
Alex Andrews: Oh! Hey! Don't mind me, I'm just trying to work through some frustration. and you know, I have every right to be frustrated. Because is this how we decide how things are done around here now? Just simply attack the champ and boom, you're the contender? Man, that sort of makes my run towards the MENTV title look long winded and trivial. And then throw a big enough hissy fit to get your own special rules into the poll? I mean, come on!
Alex lands a couple punches on the bag and then continues speaking.
Alex Andrews: Luna, I get it. You wanted to make a statement and gain my focus and try to knock me off my game. I get it, truly. And now you managed to get your own set of rules be what our match will be governed by. Bully for you. But you see, you might have overplayed yourself. Sure, I don't beat you within 15 minutes, I lose the belt. I don't have much of a champion's advantage, now do I? But you see, you picked the one stipulation I'm intimately familiar with.
Alex chuckles to herself.
Alex Andrews: I am sure you didn't notice but I spent the majority of last year kicking ass in the MENTV division on my way to becoming the female wrestler of the year. And do you know how those matches are contended for? That's right, sugar, a fifteen minute time limit. And I had to do it at least 5 times. Five times I managed to beat people in fifteen minutes, including a former world champion. So you see, you think you've done everything in your power to screw me out of my hard earned championship. Think you've manipulated yourself into a title reign? Well, think again. Because of anyone is up for this specific challemge, it's me. And I have zero intention of dropping the ball just yet. I want to rival the top people whom have held the Riot Championship and will not be stopped now. You think you're so smart, attacking me from behind and gripping to get your way. Well, come bell time, you'll see exactly how dangerous I can be and how quickly I can end a match.
Alex smirks ever so much and returns her focus to the heavy bag, hitting it in various places. Here and there, letting out grunts as she nails it with some force. We watch her for a few moments and then fade to black.
Riot Championship Match 15 Minutes Of Stardom Alex Andrews © VS Luna
- Fifteen minutes to beat an opponent was nothing new for Alex. That was the same rule she had to abide by in all her MENTV championship defenses, the five that got her to the Riot title match and those she racked up in her first reign. But there was a substantial difference between this match and those. While in a MENTV rules match a time limit draw would lead to either a rematch or an extra-time, if that happened tonight she’d lose the match and hand the title over to Luna. And we all remember how the Star Of The Night used to take advantage of this set of rules during her Lockdown championship reign.
- Ever since the very beginning of the match, Luna started wasting time, taking long breaks on the outside after even the simplest holds. Time was on her side, and this was not only a way to let the clock run down, but a good strategy to get inside the champion’s head and throw her off her game. Alex was growing impatient, struggling more and more to keep her cool. Last thing she wanted was to fall for Luna’s game, but two minutes had gone already and literally nothing noteworthy had happened in the match.
- Eventually Alex snapped and jumped on Luna with a pescado, catching the challenger off guard. Andrews quickly picked Luna up and launched her against the barricade. The Riot champion aggressively stomped at her before dragging her toward the ring and pushing her under the bottom rope. Luna rolled through and immediately tried to exit from the other side. Alex rushed in and tackled her to the ground, starting to rain down forearm strikes to the back of her neck and head.
- If Luna’s goal was to rile up the champ and force her to make mistakes, then she absolutely nailed it. Another escape attempt by the Star Of The Night brought Alex too close to the ropes, giving Luna the opportunity to drag her down and make her neck snap on the top rope. She then quickly climbed to the top rope and jumped for a diving blockbuster, getting the first near fall of the match.
- Finally we were able to see some wrestling. Now that Luna was in control, in fact, she actually tried to win the match, hitting Alex with her Starstorm (discus roundhouse kick) that got her very close to the win. So close that she couldn’t believe it, and questioned the referee’s decision vehemently. That pointless argument almost cost her as the champion slid her arm between her legs and quickly rolled her up, obtaining a near fall.
- The match continued, and the plot remained the same with the champion always forced to chase the fleeting challenger. In one of those occasions, the two women found themselves fighting on the apron, and Luna was the one coming out on top in this situation, planting Alex on her head with a DDT on the edge of the ring. Curiously enough, she didn’t let the time go, pushing her in the ring instead and attempting a lateral press, using the ropes for extra leverage. The ref spotted her and immediately stopped the count.
- The final part of the match was all Alex. Apparently Lady Limitless took a breath in the past minutes to save energy for the final assault. Now, with little under five minutes to go, she relentlessly attacked the challenger with the best moves in her arsenal. The New York fans’ cry of joy died in their throat as Luna kicked out just in the nick of time after Andrews’ Elysium. The Star Of The Night tried once again to sneak out of the ring but this time Alex was quick to stop her and pull her back in, holding her horizontally with her feet on the middle rope before dropping her with a DDT.
- Luna tried to resist. Time was almost up, a little over one minute and she would be celebrating her third title in MWE. But Alex’s offense was’t slowing down, if anything it became even more intense, not giving Smith the break she needed. She only managed to briefly interrupt the champion’s momentum with a quick roll up, but unfortunately for her that wasn’t enough to get the three. And on top of that, it sets her up for a big knee to the chin, to which the champion followed with her Brain Death (scorpion kick), getting her the three and stopping the clock with only twenty seconds to go.
WINNER: Alex Andrews (STILL RIOT CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Brain Death), 14:40 |
The scene opens somewhere inside Madison Square Garden. Faizah Marshall is standing in front of a plaque that reads Joe “KO” Frazier vs Buster Mathis. She takes her sweet time looking at the plaque, allowing the history of the building she is standing in to sink in. Standing next to her is Millie Smith.
Faizah Marshall: Did you ever think when we started our journey in The Academy we would be wrestling in the World’s Most Famous Arena?
Millie Smith: Makes me nervous…to be honest. It's a real big deal….
Millie says in her blue hoody, arms tucked fairly into her front pocket where her hands could fidget with something. Faizah rests a hand on her shoulder.
Faizah Marshall: True, it is. Can’t say I’ve been a wrestling fan all my life like most people or come from a family full of wrestlers BUT it’s not lost on me how epic this moment is for all of us. I always wanted to come here to see a concert. Today I get to go thirty minutes in the ring against one of the best this sport has to offer. Not the best. We all know I’m the Best. At. Everything.
Faizah showcases a bright smile on her face the moment she completes her signature saying.
Millie Smith You did really good work out there. I hope I did ok with Trin and made everyone go home remembering us. But they probably did talk about you a lot, Faiz.
Millie says bigging up her friend.
Faizah Marshall: I can hear it now. Faiz, she’s a real bitch!
Faizah shrugs.
Faizah Marshall: Most people don’t like me, Millie. All I hear is how much of a bad person I am. Trying to ignore it all, eh, maybe they’re right? I don’t know. It’s just... I don’t know who I am anymore. Everything has gotten so out of control I wonder if becoming a wrestler corrupted me.
Millie Smith: Why do you think it corrupted you?
Millie asks while doing her best to avoid throwing anymore fuel on the fire of the feud between Faiz and Trin. Faiz studies Millie’s face, she decides shaking her head head the best course of action.
Faizah Marshall: Don’t worry about it. The important thing is the here and now. Living in the moment. Being grateful we get to live our dreams. And me going out there to remind the world that I don’t need my bodyguard to be a success.
A small smile forms on Faizah’s face.
Faizah Marshall: Will you be there to help me celebrate when I retain or in the worst case scenario, be a shoulder to cry on if I fail.
Millie Smith: I'll be there when you retain because I don't believe you'll fail.
Millie says now putting her hand upon Faiz's shoulder and a confident smile in her friend's abilities. This puts a smile on Faiz’s face. She responds by hugging her best friend. They embrace as the scene fades to black.
Cloud Gate Championship Match 30 Minutes Iron Man Match Faizah Marshall © VS Summer Collins
- It was odd to see Faizah Marshall walking out alone. But that was what she agreed with Elsa on, a stipulation the Original BAE suggested when pushed for the repeat of the number one contender match we witnessed on night one. After all, she already had a huge advantage as Summer got into this match less than 100%, still dealing with the aftermath of the chair match against Joey Leclair the night before, enough of an advantage to give up the extra-insurance represented by TD Batterson in the name of “fairness”.
- I’m not saying she regretted it, but perhaps she could have used him to buy her some time and come up with some appreciated advice after Summer came out strong off the gates and hit her with a flurry of strikes. But he wasn’t there, and she had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Nowhere to go either when Collins locked her in the Chapter Seven (crippler crossface). With so much time left to turn this around, the Original BAE wisely opted for tapping out quickly, avoiding any risk of potential injury. (Collins 1 - Marshall 0 4:16)
- Her reaction was immediate and quite impressive. After taking the opponent down with a corkscrew neckbreaker, Faizah followed with a springboard moonsault, obtaining only a count of two. She wasted no time and immediately stood to her feet, beginning to stomp Collins furiously. After one final stomp to the head, Faizah hooked the leg for another cover, getting a second near fall.
- The Academy graduate dominated this part of the match, but she always failed to capitalize on all that work to score her first fall. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Collins found herself in great difficulty, but a sudden Money Clip (stunner) followed by the Stock Market Crash rock bottom gave her the second fall of the match. (Collins 2 - Marshall 0 11:27)
- Now things got complicated for the Original BAE. Close to the halfway point of the match, she had to score three falls or submissions to win, and concede none. Another point for Summer could make the gap too much to fill. And yet, this hurry to score the first fall and bridge the gap opened her up to make mistakes and Summer almost made the best of it with a sunset flip, but Faizah kicked out in two and half.
- Her confidence seemed to diminish as minutes passed and fear creeped in. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Marshall had never been one to turn down a shortcut whenever she had the chance, more so tonight when the stakes were so high and she found herself in dire need to turn the tides of this match. Holding onto Summer’s tights and getting leverage with the ropes after a quick roll up gave her that first point to build her comeback on. (Marshall 1 - Collins 2 18:44)
- Summer’s experience was showing as the former tag champion now proceeded to slow down the pace, relying on submissions and rest holds to let the clock run down. Faizah didn’t have the luxury of tapping out anymore, not with less than ten minutes to go and two more points to score. She had to fight back, dig down deep and find the energy to break the Bear Market (STF) or reach the ropes. The second one seemed to be the most likely option, and with great effort she eventually reached it, saving herself. Now that she had this part settled, she needed to score that fall and put all the pressure back on the challenger. With an exploder suplex she sent Summer against the corner, perfectly positioned for the Best Splash Ever that allowed her to even the score (Marshall 2 - Collins 2 22:23)
- It was meant to be, the fatigue from last night’s match eventually caught up on Summer who, until now, had fought the perfect match and paced herself perfectly. But qualifying to this match came with a prize, and now the former tag champion was bound to pay it. In great difficulty now, Collins fell back in the corner, looking to catch her breath after finally putting a momentary stop at Faizah’s offense. But the Cloud Gate champion was back on the attack with a jumping knee in the corner, followed by a running bulldog. Summer tried to roll out of the ring but Faizah grabbed her by the arm and pulled her up to her feet. A kick to the stomach set Collins up for the brainbuster, after which Marshall finished in style with the BAE Alert that gave her the third fall of her match, which meant finally taking the lead. (Marshall 3 Collins 2 27:58)
- IWith only two minutes to go, Faizah started taking long breaks on the outside, but Summer was too exhausted to chase her down. Nothing else happened from this point to the end of the thirty minutes limit. Marshall retained the Cloud Gate championship with a stellar performance.
WINNER: Faizah Marshall (STILL CLOUD GATE CHAMPION) BY: Pinfalls 3-2, 30:00 |
Aliyah Greene: We said it on Twitter and f’a couple of people that claim they the best, claim they betta? K2O ain’t real smart. We came here cause Karen couldn’t keep our names out her stupid mouth. We came here to make sure K2O? Never win if we can stop it, cept for one tiny truce that we was gracious enough to giiiiive Olly.
Annica Greene: They want us outta Millennium so so so damn bad, ‘cause they know. Karen’d die of old age afore they ever got the tag titles again, if’n we get them.
Sly, sly expressions are exchanged between the identical twins, and tonight they are decked out in some really well made and sturdy gear - their serious match gear in fact. Jeans with the gussets so they can splits or kicks, knee-high boots with shin guards, long sleeved tops with tons of glam looking crystals and sequins and if those crystals look a little sharp? Oh dear. Both in red and white of course. Even wearing their hair back with cute barrettes, gleaming with those same crystals. The pair laugh, clearly amused by all of this. Though they sober a moment, an uncharacteristically sweet and sympathetic expression on their lovely matching faces.
Aliyah Greene: We don’t know though, how it must be, to be K2O. Imagine bein’ that hated. Imagine bein’ so disliked by the people ya work for, that this whole thing happens t’you. Dark Web IV shoulda been… not this, for K2O. But they hate ya, Karen. They hate ya, Olly.
Annica Greene: They hate ya good, more than the fans doooo. We ain’t nice nice, we ain’t goodie two shoes but them fans? They CHEER us. They make up fun chants and slogans FOR US.
Aliyah steps to the side for a second, and comes back with several very large fan-made signs with the usual things on them.
MARRY US ANNICA AND ALIYAH / GREENES BETTER THAN GOLD / TROT ON BISH BAD N BOUJEE SAID SOOO
She holds them up for the cameras one at a time before handing the stack to someone out of the frame and puts both hands on her hips.
Aliyah Greene: They boo the shit out of you two, and you can say, you can yell all ya want about how fans is stupid and you two don’t care about them fans, that you above them…
Annica Greene: But man, deep down? That’s gotta sting. To be so hated doin’ somethin’ you worked hard to get into in the first place. Ten months in Olly and you… are holding yaself back, and when you fuck up, get hurt? Them fans? Ain’t gonna miiiiissss youuuuu.
Aliyah Greene: Facts are this though. Karen hadda match against Lowri Moss - pound for pound better than she ever will be, facts again only. You don’t wrestle someone as intense as her, and come out fresh and unscathed as well, ya know. Course we both know that’s the excuse she gonna have in her back pocket. Cause that’s what she do.
They no-look high five, those sly expressions back in full force even though their tones are so sweet and chill that butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths.
Annica Greene: Skylynn Reed, we know her from Valiant too and if anyone hates Olly more than the fans? It’s her and Tiff. Sooooo… you know he deserved errythin’ that happened to him.
Aliyah Greene: First Blood Elimination, and you was so so so happy it wasn’t nothin’ with ladders? Oh man.
Annica Greene: What’s that Olly said? See you out there? Aight, bet. You gonna bet that we gonna try to get this over with fast for ya though, so maybe you two can get all doctored up. We kind ladies like that.
They wave before turning to leave, laughing and plotting with whispers as they exit.
Night two of Dark Web continues as we find K2O backstage, a team that’s very busy here at Dark Web. Olly is seated in their locker room, showing some battle scars from the match with Skylnn the night prior. Karen is suited up in her ring gear ready to go, seeming motivated to want to rebound after a loss to Lowri. However currently she looks a bit worried at the moment as she scrambles around the locker room.
Karen Eldon: Where is my purse? I set it right here…
Karen looks around for it, the stress from this and the weight of the match they have coming up seeming to have her on edge. Olly just grinds seeming to know something we don’t as Karen turns, her mind back on the match as she searches.
Karen Eldon: You know I can’t wait to get my hands on these twins tonight. If they didn’t know how dangerous you were before, they are going to know now after what you did to that little loser Sky! As a matter of fact I think the whole world can now see how ruthless and talented you really are.
Karen grins, seeming to relish in the thought of what happened the night prior to long time rival of Olly’s. While finishing she goes back to looking for her purse.
Olly: Like I said weeks ago, I’ve been far too kind until now. People like Sky, Lucie, Tiff and Clyde… They don’t deserve any mercy. I showed them kindness once and they keep rubbing their tainted victory on our faces.
A grimace of pain appears on his face, that Parking Lot Brawl match definitely took a toll on him.
Karen Eldon: I want to see them both bleed tonight, I want them to suffer for all they have done to disrupt us. No more letting people off the hook, let's put them down for good. Just like you did Sky.
Olly: That’s the plan.
He replies with a smirk.
Olly: This is our match, they are stepping in our territory. When the rules are off, we thrive. And we don’t even need to be 100% to beat them. Let’s put an end to the twins
She seems ready to go until she realizes that she still doesn’t have her purse, she looks back around. Olly joins her in searching it and finally finds it, buried under his gym bag.
Karen Eldon: There it is!
She eagerly goes to take it from Olly but he hesitates in releasing it.
Olly: Might be just me, but it seems heavier tonight.
Karen Eldon: Yeah, I added a little extra to the usual mix.
She quickly adds with a wicked smile. When Olly gives the purse to her though, she as well seems surprised by its weight.
Olly: Sounds about right. Let's go now, the Greenes won't know what hit them.
He reciprocates the smirk and the duo leaves the locker room. The camera zooms in to reveal a detail. A number of objects, most of which belong in a woman's purse, are scattered inside Olly's bag.
First Blood Elimination Tag Team Match
Bad & Boujee VS K2O
- The twins were dressed to kill. Like, literally. Her gear seemed to be designed to hurt and cut the opponents, a small and perfectly legal advantage in a match like this. K2O answered with long sleeved gear, to give as little skin as possible to the Greenes. Ambra Monroe on commentary pointed out that you may not like Olly, and after what he did to Skylynn even less people do, but the mere fact that he was out here tonight after what he went through in that match only 24 hours ago was impressive, and a testament of how tough he is.
- Though in all fairness, it definitely took a toll on him. Olly was hurting, no matter how much he tried to hide it. And in all honesty, it would be surprising if he didn’t. He seemed slower in his movements, every now and then bringing his arm to the side lamenting pain in those bruised ribs. But none of that was going to stop him, and in a match like this he had plenty of toys he could use to fill the gap. A baseball bat, for example, worked perfectly to keep Annica at distance and rescue Karen while Aliyah was trying to use the crystals on her sleeve to cut Eldon’s face.
- Now that she was out of the woods, Karen joined Olly in absolutely trashing Aliyah. He was hitting her with the bat while Eldon stomped the hell out of her. Olly asked her partner to step back as he raised the bat in the air, ready to drive it down with all his might and crack the twin’s skull open with it. Annica saved her sister by grabbing the bat and snatching it from Olly’s hand, catching him with an enziguri as he turned around.
- With Olly on the outside licking his wounds, the twins could focus on Karen. And boy, were they enjoying it! Working together with perfect chemistry, Alyiah and Annica sent the woman into the ropes and caught her with a double back elbow as she bounced back, knocking her to the mat. They followed with a double fist drop, exchanging a high five to the cheer of the crowd. After this little divertissement, it was time to get serious. As fun as kicking Karen was, making her bleed and eliminating her from the contest was an opportunity too good to pass on, more so seeing that her partner was already in difficulty. Aliyah left the ring, looking for something sharp to hurt the woman with. As soon as she raised the skirt though, she looked shocked. The reason was soon revealed as a cloud of white dust invested her. From under the ring came out Olly with a fire extinguisher in hand, and he immediately used it to level the Bad One (or is she the Boujee?)
- Olly and Aliyah were fighting on the outside, and it was surprising to see the Academy graduate still going and supexing the twin on the steel ramp. The action inside the ring saw Karen getting on top of Annica and just laying down lefts and rights to her face in a furious flurry of strikes. The former tag champion then picked up a chair from right outside the ring and laid it down in the middle of the ring. Picking up Annica, she then dropped her onto it with a DDT, not hard enough to cause her to bleed.
- Olly was in control on the outside, until Aliyah caught him with a knee on those injured ribs. Wasting no time, Greene fired him into the ring post with an irish whip but, at the last moment, Olly managed to get his arm up and protect his head from the impact. He still acted like he got hurt though, luring in the unaware opponent. As soon as she was within reach, Olly picked her up and dropped her on the steel steps with a brutal spinebuster. The move took a lot out of him too, and he needed a moment to regroup. Then he kicked the top part of the steps off and, with great effort, picked it up from the floor. He walked over to Alyiah who was still writhing in pain, with the clear intention to drop it on her. That survival instinct kicked in for Greene, who rolled to a side and kicked Olly’s leg off. The former Academy student tripped over and fell onto the steps. The impact itself didn’t seem too concerning, but it was enough to pop a stitch in his head. His match was over, and he didn’t take it lightly, trying to attack the referee who was saved by the prompt intervention of security.
- Poor Karen (said no one ever) found herself alone with Bad & Boujee. Aliyah had joined her sister and the two of them were taking their time with her. It was more than just winning a match that, now, was all downhill for them. They wanted to send a message to the loudmouth and, if possible, shutting her once and for all. Even though they knew the match couldn’t end via pinfall, they still hit her with their Electric Dreams for the fun of it, gaining a loud pop from the New York fans.
- Karen was crawling backward toward the corner, almost begging for mercy which, obviously, was never on the table. It might have crossed the twins’ mind that she was planning something, but they were confident enough they could handle whatever she had planned. The only thing Karen could do was get her purse, but even though it won her some matches, her “secret weapon” didn’t seem that big of a threat in this situation. Imagine their shock when she swung and hit Aliyah with it, knocking her out cold. Karen herself looked surprised, more so when she realized the blow opened a wound on the twin’s head. How was that possible? Remember how she couldn’t find it and it was Olly who handed it to her? Turns out that he emptied whatever Karen kept inside it and hid a brick, unbeknownst to his own partner.
- Reassured by her sister who quickly came back to her senses, lamenting an understandable headache, Annica went back to work on Karen. The two of them really fought it tooth and, mostly, nail, clawing at each other’s back and face whenever there was a chance to do it. Karen’s Can I Speak To Your Manager hit the twin square in the face but it wasn’t enough to bust her nose or mouth and win her the match. Once again the woman picked up a chair from the floor and went to hit Greene with it as soon as she got back to her feet. Her quick reflexes allowed her to dodge the blow and kick the chair out of Eldon’s hands. Annica delivered a furious combination of kicks and forearm strikes that left Karen groggy in the middle of the ring. Eyeing the steel chair close to her, Annica dropped the opponent on top of it with the Hollback Girl. A red streak appeared on Karen’s blonde hair, signaling the end of an incredible match.

“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page is in her locker room on her cell phone.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page: Yes, we are going to Beauty & Essex for dinner after the show tonight. Just get us the best seat in the house.
Tiffany pauses as Duke walks into the locker room with a bottle of water. He hands the bottle to Tiffany and kisses her on the head as he sits down next to her.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page:(Rolling her eyes) Make it happen. Business trip or not this is the first time Duke has come home with me to New York since we have gotten together. I want it to be special. Thank you!
Tiffany hangs up her phone.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page: People can be idiots!!!
Duke smiles and gives Tiffany a look.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page: What?!?! Don’t look at me like that. I know I’m high maintenance and that is one of the reasons why you love me. But trust me you’ll like this place. Then we will spend a few extra days here in the city. I’ll show you off to my friends and introduce you to my parents. First though, business needs to be handled. Last night you were of course successful in that barbaric Dog Collar Match, Clyde retained his MENTV title once again. So there is no damn way Megan and I aren’t going to keep up with the Joneses.
Tiffany lays back into Duke’s arms.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page: I know you have a history with Tank and Dusty but they’ve been very opinionated since we got together. Honestly they are horrible friends for not wanting you to be happy but they are obviously off put that Megan and I came into the tag team division then made an immediate impact. Which is why we are World Tag Team Champions.
Tiffany looks back at Duke.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page: I know what you are going to say. Tank and Dusty are massive bad asses plus I may or may not have poked the bears but you know I am not going to back down from getting what I want. This little issue they have with me is not a me problem it is a them problem. That is why Megan and I are going into this match tonight with a level head and can look at things pragmatically while those two are emotional which will ultimately be their downfall while we walk out remaining tag team champions.
MWE Tag Team Championship Match Tables, Ladder & Chairs Match Tiffany Lynn-Page & Meg Coleman VS Dusty Douglas & Tank Steiner VS Tiff Rollins & Clyde Eldon Jr.
- Tiffany Lynn-Page wasn’t happy. She rarely is, in all fairness, but tonight the reason for her protest was the presence of Tiff and Clyde in this match. Victim of her outburst was the referee who was just trying to do his job and had nothing to do with the decision. Clyde had had enough and told Page to “suck it up”, Tiffany reinforced the message with a Peacemaker (leaping high knee) that officially kicked off the hostility.
- Definitely the wildcards in this match, Tiff and Clyde were looking to make the best of this unexpected opportunity. With the fans firmly behind them, the duo immediately set the pace of the match, working together to take out the opponents one by one. Starting with Megan and Tank who were fighting close to the ropes, then sending Tiffany over the top rope with a clothesline from Clyde and finally taking care of the Murder Train. Rollins had retrieved a chair and she tossed it at her partner who held it in front of Douglas’ face. Tiff then delivered a Death Kick onto the chair, knocking down the big man.
- Despite having the path cleared, their early attempt at retrieving the titles failed. Clyde was watching Tiff’s back as the former Cloud Gate climbed the ladder, but both the champions came back at the same time. Coleman took it to the young man, keeping him busy while Tiffany headed straight for the gold, meeting her namesake on top. The two blondes began to trade punches, but their high-altitude brawl ended in the worst possible way when Tank pushed the ladder down.
- Once the initial chaos settled and the pace slowed down, Tank and Dusty took the stage. As we know, the big Austrian won’t chop women and that made Clyde the only target for him. Unfortunately for Karen’s son, he was also Douglas’ favorite target. The two big men just slapped his chest like they were playing bongos. Once they were done, the poor guy’s torso had assumed a bright shade of red, and Clyde collapsed to the floor, trying to regain his breath.
- A Meg Kick floored Herr Steiner and gave Megan an opportunity to climb to the top while her partner was keeping the Murder Train busy. The Diva had a chair in hand, a little help against the much bigger opponent. It was all in vain as Douglas blocked her chair shot with both hands and took the weapon away from her, flinging it toward Rollins who was trying to get back in the ring, cutting her down again. The Oklahoma native then shook his head and reached Coleman, grabbing her by the leg and pulling her down to the mat, clocking her with a big punch.
- Eventually, tables came into play as well and, unsurprisingly, the big guys were those who made the best of that tool. Tiff Rollins went through the one set up on the outside with a powerbomb from Dustin, the other Tiffany was chokeslammed through one by Tank. A third table was laying against the corner but, for now, it remained intact. The Austrian tried to get to the titles but the combined effort of Clyde and Megan frustrated his attempt.
- Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, or like Tiffany Lynn-Page with a chair in hand. The tag champion went into a frenzy, hitting everything that moved with wicked shots. She almost hit her partner too, stopping only inches away from bashing her head in. Coleman told Tiff to watch her back as she attempted the climbing. Page did a good job at keeping Clyde away but she couldn’t stop Douglas grabbing a chair from the floor and just throwing it inside the ring against the one Meg was climbing, knocking the former MMA star down.
- The New York fans were loving what they were seeing, especially the parts where the tag champions were getting their ass handed to them. The young Eldon received the greatest pop of his career when he speared Lynn-Page through the table that was laying against the corner.
- The epic battle seemed to have come to its final stretch. The six competitors were exhausted, battered and bruised after twenty minutes of a very intense and physically demanding war. Feeding on the fans’ energy, Rollins seemed to be the one who had what it takes to go that extra mile. She glanced at the tag team titles hanging above the ring, but her eyes quickly searched for her partner who was laying in a corner. One last quick look at the opponents and the former Cloud Gate champion walked to Clyde, helping him to his feet and checking if he felt like climbing the ladder. He reassured her and set the ladder up, while Rollins delivered Death Kicks lefts and rights, keeping the four opponents down. The plan was working, nobody was stopping Clyde Eldon from taking the titles…
- Spoke too soon. Straight from the crowd came Olly -who else could it be?- quickly getting rid of Tiffany with his Leap Of Faith. “Karma’s here, bitch.” He yelled at Clyde before pushing the ladder, causing the young man to crash outside the ring. Soaking in the boos of the fans, Olly then left the ring, proud of his actions. The first one to get up to her feet was Tiffany Lynn-Page who, slowly and undisturbed, climbed to the top and unclipped the titles.
WINNER: Tiffany Lynn-Page & Meg Coleman (STILL MWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS) BY: Title Retrieval, 23:38 |
Backstage in Madison Square Garden, near the ready area, we find MWE journalist Robbie Hayden. Robbie’s guest on this particular occasion is the beautiful Glory Braddock. The British Bombshell is dressed in her wrestling attire, consisting of boots, bell bottom style wrestling tights, and a top, all royal purple in coloration. Her long blonde hair cascades freely to past the shoulders. A warm grin is etched across her lovely features.
Robbie Hayden: Ladies and gentlemen, Robbie Hayden here and my guest at this time is none other than The British Bombshell herself, Glory Braddock. Thank you for joining me, Glory.”
Glory Braddock: No problem, mate.
Robbie Hayden: In just a few moments you will be going to the ring to challenge Brookford for the MWE World Championship. There are those who have questioned whether or not you even belong in the title match…
The fans can be heard booing in the background. Glory chuckles softly.
Glory Braddock: I bet you heard what the people think. They believe I belong. Am I right?
This also gets a fan response, this time one of loud cheering. Robbie Hayden nods his head.
Robbie Hayden: “es, well your peers disagree with the fans.
Glory Braddock: I don’t necessarily give a damn what my peers think. Let’s face facts, Robbie, this isn’t a fair business. This is a cutthroat, ruthless business. It shouldn’t be, but it is. So why should I begin losing sleep over the opinions of my peers? Why should I lose sleep over the opinions of my peers when I have already proven fifteen times over that I am among the very best to lace up a pair of wrestling boots? I would like their respect but I don’t need it. I fight for two people…
She holds up two fingers.
Glory Braddock: ...one is the fans. They are the reason I have continued to do this since 2008. They are the reason I have sacrificed time away from my family, because I want to give back to the fans and to this business, a business and a fanbase that has been so good to me and my family for so very long. I fight for them. Second, I fight for myself. And don’t misinterpret that, because I’m sure there’s a horde of jackals out there just itching for a chance to twist my words. When I say I fight for myself that doesn’t mean I fight for ego, for my own selfish quest for a sixteenth championship, seventeenth championship, and so on and so on…I fight because wrestling is about competition. I want to continue to test myself, to continue challenging myself each and every week against the very best this sport has to offer. I used to call myself The Best in the World but I realize now that it isn’t a title you can ever truly earn. To be the best you have to beat the best in the world. But once you’ve done that, you quickly learn that there’s someone else out there who is just as good or maybe even better than you. So you have to start the cycle all over again, you have to prove yourself all over again by facing that new BEST. Now to get to your specific question, Robbie. Do I deserve a shot at the MWE World Championship?
Braddock shrugs her shoulders.
Glory Braddock: That’s up for interpretation. My fans certainly think I’ve earned it. My peers don’t. Brookford obviously doesn’t think I’ve earned it, but then again would he really want to fight someone he knows damn well can outwrestle him and can tap him out or choke him out? The fact that he forged an alliance with Valentine to protect his ass and his title seems to make me question his judgment. So let’s just throw Brookford’s judgment call out the window. For that matter, let’s just throw that whole line of questioning out the window, Robbie. See, Brookford and others seem to have a little case of amnesia. Or he’s delusional? Thing is, he thinks I have been asking for…begging for…a championship match.
The British Bombshell shakes her head.
Glory Braddock: I NEVER once asked for a title match. I never demanded a title match. I definitely didn’t beg for it. What I did ask for was a one on one match against Brookford. I never said it had to be for the MWE World Championship. That’s what management decided. I would have been just as happy if this were non-title. You know why, Robbie? Because this isn’t about padding my record like some have accused me. Wrestling is about competition and I want to compete against the elite of MWE, the very best of MWE, and right now MWE’s very best is Brookford. That championship he has says he’s the best. So why wouldn’t I want to test myself against him? Regardless of whether I become champion tonight or not, this has to do with me testing myself against the world champion.
Braddock smirks knowingly.
Glory Braddock: See, there’s another factor that most people seem to be perfectly happy to ignore. Well, except my good pal Duke Andrews, that is. That no good bloke scum seems to be the only bloke with the guts enough to ask the really important question; why is Brookford seemingly unwilling to defend the MWE World Championship? He uses Valentine to try and keep me or Duke from getting a title shot. He whines constantly on social media about how no one has separated themselves…whatever the hell that means…and then when his opponent at Dark Web is announced, when its revealed that The British Bombshell will be facing him at Dark Web for the MWE World Title, he says he’d just rather take the night off. Now I ask you this, Robbie; is that what you would expect of a World Champion?
Robbie Hayden: Uh, probably not…
Glory Braddock: The MWE fans deserve better than Brookford as a World Champion. This company deserves better than Brookford as a World Champion. Now am I going to stand here and try to defend myself against each and every blowhard and keyboard warrior who has the guts to talk trash about me on social media but doesn’t have the damn balls to say anything to my face? Am I going to waste my time arguing and defending management’s decision to grant me the MWE World Title Match when number one, I had no say in the decision to start with and two, a world title match wasn’t even my original goal to start with? No, I’m not going to waste my time with that, either. But I can say this, I can say with one hundred percent certainty that I would be a better World Champion than Brookford. I will give MWE and its fans a champion they can be proud of; a fighting champion, not a coward who tries to slither away from a fight. And here’s some breaking news for you, Robbie…when I become champion tonight, I swear to defend the championship every Millennium and every Riot. All these people lining up demanding a title shot, I’ll fight them all one at a time, one show at a time. It doesn’t really matter to me. But I will defend it every single night.
Braddock shakes her head.
Glory Braddock: But I’m getting ahead of myself, first I have to win the championship. So Brookford, you have had your fun with the title. You used to be a tough bastard, and maybe somewhere deep down inside you still are, but for some reason you decided that avoiding confrontation is the best way. Perhaps the pressure of being champion finally got to you? Either way, I am coming to liberate that championship. You want me to separate myself? I am going to separate myself tonight and make you and everyone else out there who doubted me, who said I didn’t belong here, who said I didn’t deserve this match, I will make all of you eat crow. Because tonight I will pin you…I will tap you out…or I will choke your ass out. And I will be the NEW World Champion. Sic Semper Tyrannis…
Glory Braddock turns and walks away.
The scene opens in the luxury suite of Madison Square Garden. Sitting down at the head of a table is BROOKFORD. There is a banquet of food sprawled out filling the table, two bottles of wine can also be seen. The MWE World Champion isn’t decked out in a suit per usual, he is dressed to fight.
Coming into view is Evie. She walks over to BROOKFORD. He motions to her to take a seat next to him. Before she does, BROOKFORD stands up. He pulls out her chair like a gentleman should. Once she sits down he returns to his seat.
BROOKFORD: I shoulda asked if your big guy would joy us after I smack Glory around a little bit. I was quite impressed that he went toe to toe with Duke. MWE needs to smarten up, Valentine is going to be a force to be reckoned with for a very long time.
Evie appears a tad nonchalant, though she smirks at BROOKFORD’s words.
Evie: Wisen up, wrestlers? Hardly likely, is it? Take this roster for example…you could combine a good half of them and still not have an IQ that hit triple digits. You only have to look at Duke to see how abysmal the level of intelligence here is. He calls a guy barely four years younger than him a kid and calls me a trollop, but when challenged he completely fails to actually have any reasoning behind it. He just says words, there’s no meaning behind it. Makes what he says empty, does it not?
She raises a finger, pouring herself a glass of wine with her opposite hand.
Evie: Just as what Glory says is equally empty. Funny she condemns interference, when it works against her. When it works for her, though? Silence.
Glass filled, she takes a sip of the red liquid.
Evie: V isn’t much of a party guy though. If he’s not at the gym or clobbering some poor bastard in a ring, he’s usually with his woman. Luckily, I’m sociable enough for the both of us. Quite a spread you’ve got here, I must say. Being champion clearly suits you.
BROOKFORD raises an eyebrow.
BROOKFORD: Woman? Someone can handle him? My man.
BROOKFORD offers a sly smirk. Evie slightly giggles.
BROOKFORD: Anyway, you're right. Kinda funny how you can't shut Glory up these days and yet, haven't heard a peep from her on Twitter. Her boy Kyle was at least honest enough to concede he didn't deserve a shot when she was MENTV Champion. Strange how she lost that belt at Centum only to find herself challenging me. I wanted Seth. There's bigger money in that. I still owe him for beating me on his way to winning the briefcase.
BROOKFORD shrugs.
BROOKFORD: It is what it is. Not too bothered to be honest, at the end of the day I am closing Dark Web weekend. The championship bonus is more than enough to offset these minor inconveniences. As long as you hang with me, there will be more of these banquets. Plenty of money to burn from my mercenary day. Don't need to solve people's problems anymore. It's fun being MWE's biggest one.
There’s a nod from Evie, even as she pops a grape into her mouth.
Evie: Makes you wonder what Glory has over the management, right? Going from losing one title, unimpressively by the way, to challenging to an even bigger one? I’m not a wrestler, but I do understand this industry and that’s baffling.
She shrugs.
Evie: So, darling, what will you do after you vanquish Glory? Because, and let’s be honest, she’s not got a prayer of beating you.
BROOKFORD: Remind the next challenger that I am the biggest problem in MWE history. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.
BROOKFORD smirks. He grabs an apple to bite into.
BROOKFORD: Got to admit, it’s nice having you around. I could care less about most of the people in the locker room. All the whining and complaining is unbecoming. Their lack of perspective is disappointing. Like minded people like us need to stick together.
BROOKFORD grabs a glass of wine.
BROOKFORD: To a prosperous partnership.
Evie raises her glass, repeating the same line as BROOKFORD. The scene ends with them smirking, a little sinister.
MWE World Championship Match Three Strikes Match BROOKFORD © VS Glory Braddock
- A pretty unique stipulation for the main event of night 2, a match that was surrounded by controversy and doubts on whether the challenger deserved the shot or not. Doubts BROOKFORD seemed to share with the rest of them, doubts Glory was looking to shut up once and for all in the ring, taking home the World Title number 16 in the process. Three Strikes, three matches in one to determine who’s walking out with the greatest prize in the company, who’s going to fight Melissa Reeves who won the number one contendership on night one at the next PPV. The first strike was to be decided by pinfall, the second had to be a submission and the third by a KO. Those were the rules the referee reminded the two competitors before ordering for the bell to ring.
- Glory thought that her best shot was to get that first strike in, and with good reasons. As stated by BROOKFORD, nobody had ever been able to make him tap out. Her first minutes were quite aggressive, quick strikes aiming mostly at the legs as she kept moving around the World champ, keeping out of his reach. The game plan was already bearing fruit, forcing BROOKFORD to one knee and knocking him down with a stiff roundhouse kick that knocked him down. The British Bombshell made the first cover of the match but the Problem Solver kicked out before the two with authority.
- One small mistake, one slight hesitation and all the advantage she built in these first minutes would be gone. Glory was well aware of that and was extra careful and focused not to make any mistake, but somehow it still wasn’t enough. BROOKFORD still found a way to turn the tides, countering a running jumping knee in the corner with an Uranage that planted Braddock on the mat. He immediately dragged her up to her feet and whipped her against the ropes on the opposite side of the ring, leveling her with a big boot as she bounced back.
- For the next five minutes, Glory was at the mercy of BROOKFORD. Even when pitted against a multi-time World champion, once he got things rolling it was almost impossible to stop him. A one man wrecking crew, the New York born was asserting his dominance and reminding everyone why he’s the man to beat with an incredible performance. And yet, he couldn’t break Glory’s resistance. That was how much this meant for her. Deserved or not, she was going to leave absolutely everything in this ring to prove the doubters wrong and achieve what many think she couldn't achieve. BROOKFORD himself was surprised when she kicked out from his sitout spinebuster, but he quickly shrugged it off and continued working on Braddock.
- From out of nowhere the Best In The World connected the Gloria In Excelsis Deo, and that almost gave her the first strike. BROOKFORD managed to kick out, but the momentum had once again changed. Glory was taking back control, insisting on that strategy that worked out so well for her in the first part of the match. A running single leg dropkick gave the challenger another near fall and, for the first time in the match, BROOKFORD seemed concerned as he was forced to take a quick break on the outside to regroup. Glory just waited in the ring, this was a great chance for her to catch her breath too, and God knows how much she needed it. The punishment she took before and a highly demanding style were definitely starting to take their toll, as we approached the 15 minutes mark.
- Swift changes of momentum seemed to be the way of this match. A spinning side slam from the champ put an abrupt end to Glory’s offense, and this time he didn’t play around anymore. He picked her up, rocked her with a couple of uppercuts and lifted her in a suplex position, setting her up with her feet on the top rope and bringing her down to the mat with the Problem… Solved for the one, two, three. (BROOKFORD 1 - Braddock 0 18:04)
- The champ had a big smile on his face, this match was on the right track for him and he already was foretasting a clean sweep to send a message out to the entire locker room. Opposite mood for Glory who realized that her best shot was gone and, to finally get Number Sixteen, she would have to do what anybody has ever done. making the giant tap. She loved a challenge, but this one seemed too big a task, even for someone as confident as her. Still, she HAD to do it. The Shekinah Glory was the best submission in her arsenal, though arguably one hard to pull against the Problem Solver. Another option could be the Glorify Thy Name, but the champ’s legs were the size of a tree. As she pondered her option, BROOKFORD almost took her head off with a clothesline.
- As you could expect by the stipulation, this part of the match was much slower than the first one, though the fans could appreciate some smooth technical exchanges. Not many people seemed to remember, and his “direct” style didn't help his case, but BROOKFORD was a submission expert of his own, something that combined with his size and power makes him one of the most dangerous and complete wrestlers out there. He found a formidable opponent in Glory who seemed to have chosen her path, going for the big man's leg. She torqued and twisted it, fishing in her arsenal for some submissions we hadn’t seen in years from her, changing her playbook to throw BROOKFORD off his game. Add to that those lethal kicks she was known to throw and soon she felt confident enough about the damage done to put the champ in her Glorify Thy Name (indian deathlock). The ropes were pretty far away, the textbook submission perfectly applied by the Best In The World who was surely living up to her moniker tonight. The champ was visibly in pain, and while he might have made it to the ropes if he tried, the stakes were too high and getting injured in an attempt to get a rope break would have been counterproductive. A “strategic” tap would have allowed him to fight the last part of the match in a, relatively, good shape, increasing his chances to retain. And so he did. (BROOKFORD 1 - Glory Braddock 1 25:33)
- Sometimes, you have to give something up to achieve a greater goal. And retaining his title was worth taking the first submission loss in his career. In his own words, “It’s business”. But it was undeniable that giving up, though for good reasons, affected him. And Glory was going to take full advantage, bombarding him with a flurry of kicks and elbow strikes to the head, showing that even in that department, she could hang with the best of them. Knocking out a giant like him will be complicated, but they said the same about making him tapping out and she just did. The Beautiful Insanity left BROOKFORD laying on his chest, almost out of it but still in the match.
- Over twenty-thousand people chanting “THIS IS AWESOME”, this was the set this epic battle was being fought. Say what you want about Glory or BROOKFORD, but tonight they both cemented their status at the very top of MWE with an outstanding performance, earning the respect of the New York fans and those watching at home. Well over thirty minutes they went in a match that could’ve gone both ways. A heavy right hand from BROOKFORD sent Braddock back against the ropes and left her woozy. The referee went to check, ready to call for the bell but she pushed him away and walked toward her opponent. BROOKFORD smiled, definitely appreciating her tenacity though he, and maybe her too, knew that this could only end one way. She swung with a punch, easily dodged by the big man who shifted behind the British Bombshell and caught her in the Lights Out. She still thought, desperately trying to break the hold. But eventually her forces abandoned her and she was left in the middle of the ring, passed out as the champ celebrated. (BROOKFORD 2 - Braddock 1 37:09)
