Tag Team Match
Team Trillie & Tiana Petrova-Hammond VS Bad Boyz (Omari Johnson, Danté Hall & Khalil Washington III)
Riot in Delaware opened up with an absolute banger, a trios match featuring three Academy graduates taking on the Bad Boyz. Millie was the one starting things off against Danté Hall. The size difference tipped the scale in favor of the former Karib Trinidad, but Smith did a great job keeping herself away from the big man, constantly moving around him and poking him with hard kicks to the legs. The girls trios’ strategy seemed clear from the get going, using quick tags to keep a quick pace and confuse the Masked Angel. After Trinity took her turn at kicking Hall, Tiana stepped in the ring, taking it to another level. Her strikes were harder than those of her teammates, and Danté went down like a ton of bricks after she clocked him with a spinning heel kick. The Bad Boyz entered the ring, and while Khalil went straight to Trinity and Millie, leveling them with a double clothesline, Omari dove on Tiana to break up the pinning predicament. He also threw the Russian-American over the top rope and dragged Danté closer to the corner, tagging himself in. As the first ever Gold Star came back inside the ring, massaging her shoulder after the rough landing, she immediately received a tag from Trinity who, concerned about the potential issues Tiana might have with the recently injured shoulder, told her to rest up and don’t worry. Her intentions were noble, but this didn’t translate into a benefit for her team. Omari’s speed was matching hers, but his experience allowed him to get the upper hand. With a flapjack he dropped Trin neck first on the top rope. He made the tag to KW3 who picked the young girl in a wheelbarrow position while Omari landed with his leg on the back of her neck with a diving leg drop, driving her face first into the canvas. After saving her partner, Millie went back to her corner and began cheering on her partner. Tiana joined in and soon the whole Chase Fieldhouse was chanting Trin’s name. This gave the redhead the push to turn the tides and, after getting rid of Washington with an enziguri kick, to reach her corner. Smith came in with the hot tag and charged at Khail, catching him with a satellite ddt. Millie was on fire, flying all around and getting another near fall with a spectacular shooting star press. Only a thumb to the eye could stop her momentarily, long enough for Khalil to reach his corner. Danté entered the ring and tried to behead the blonde girl with a massive clothesline, but she was able to duck it and take him down with a dropkick to the knee as he bounced back from the ropes. She planted him on his face with a hurricanrana driver and then tagged Tiana. The Russian-American showed that the hard landing had no consequences on her, unleashing hell on Hall. A wicked knee to the face got him down for good, but Omari dragged the referee out of the ring to stop the count. The fans were booing loudly, asking for an immediate DQ, but the referee seemed to take a more diplomatic route. Tiana didn’t seem to want the disqualification either, as she kept attacking Hall with kicks and stomps. The referee was back in the ring just in time to see the tag to Trinity who went to the top rope for a high risk move. Omari’s protest was still going, for no other reason than to keep the ref distracted while Khalil and Dez Ali, who just appeared from the crowd: The girls defended themselves from the attack while trying to protect Trinity, who in the meantime had left the dangerous spot on the top rope, and allow her to finish the opponent with the Nap Kick. The ref, for once, realized that the Bad Boyz were up to something and turned around right after Dez brained Tiana with a chair shot and was about to do the same to Thompson. This time, he didn’t think twice and disqualified the Bad Boyz and immediately called for the security to step in and prevent the situation from degenerating, seeing how Tiana was out thus leaving Millie and Trinity in a four versus two situation. WINNER: Team Trillie & Tiana Petrova-Hammond BY: DQ, 9:23 |
We come backstage where we find Matt and Veronica talking in their locker room, preparing for their match tonight against Nightfall Show.
Matt Stone:
So long story short, I’m still the Intercontinental champion so it wasn’t a total failure of a show.
Veronica nods her head as she begins to twirl some of her blonde hair around her index finger.
Veronica Sawyer:
I feel like it’s time to stop living in the past Matt, let's move forward, and focus on the reason why I signed with this company in the first place.
Matt Stone:
To spend more time with me?
He chuckles, shaking his head and knowing what she meant.
Matt Stone:
Right, getting us those tag team titles. We’ve been putting in the work and it’s about time we start getting results. That ugliness with Karen is behind us and should we meet them again down the road, no more Mister Nice Guy!
Veronica Sawyer:
Yes, I imagine she’ll be even more old and used up by that point, so it should make for an easy win.
Veronica smirks a little bit, clearly enjoying tossing out some casual cutting remarks, before she regains her composure.
Veronica Sawyer:
No better place for us to start our climb than tonight against the Nightfall Show.
Matt Stone:
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I’ve already started to scout half of them and now I know exactly what to expect tonight…not that I’m still living in the past of course! We’ve got our game plan, we’ve got our matching attires, we should be unstoppable now!
Veronica Sawyer:
Of course we’re going to be unstoppable, we’re PCP, and we want to make the biggest impact possible to shake up this entire tag team division. No more cheap tricks from others to distract us from our goals.
Matt Stone:
Damn Smith girl, I mean who does she think she is? She had no business getting…
Luckily for Veronica, the sixth time Matt was about to launch into a tirade about Bree Smith costing them a match was interrupted by the door opening and Nicole Rossi walking in wearing a lovely white blouse and a tight fitting pair of black leather pants. In one hand she is holding onto a glass of red wine as she looks back and forth between the both of them.
Nicole Rossi:
What are you two talking about?
Matt Stone:
Our match tonight. You know, our step towards those tag team titles. Millennium’s tag team scene is considerably less phenomenal than it could be.
Nicole keeps looking between the both of them as Veronica crosses her arms in front of her chest.
Nicole Rossi:
…and you didn’t wait for me?
Matt Stone:
To have a conversation? No, it’s not like we’re covering new ground, just recapping everything. You were there for the main meetings…is that wine? Where did you get that?
Nicole takes a seat in one of the chairs inside of the room, clearly a little annoyed that they didn’t wait for her to have a discussion about tonight’s match.
Nicole Rossi:
I placed a few calls obviously.
Matt Stone:
And didn’t get us one?
He asked back quickly, turning her attitude back on her. Nicole narrows her eyes for a brief moment as Veronica places one hand over her mouth trying to hide her laughter.
Nicole Rossi:
Well you didn’t wait for me!
Veronica decides that she’s heard enough of this argument that could end up going in circles for far too long as she quickly waves her hands around.
Veronica Sawyer:
We don’t have time for this, Matt and I have a match to get ready for.
Veronica takes a few steps forward, clearly heading for Matt so she can lead him out of the room, and that’s when Nicole makes an attempt to get up from her chair to protest. She is suddenly stopped when Veronica makes a sharp turn, her backside colliding against Nicole, along with the glass of wine that ends up spilled all over the front of her blouse.
Nicole Rossi:
Look what you did!
Matt’s eyes widen when he sees what’s happened and knows this could blow up into an even bigger fight, so he takes Veronica’s hand and pulls her out of the room.
Matt Stone:
Sorry about that, we’ll call a guy for cleaning!
Veronica gives Nicole one final wave, accompanied with a smirk that leaves it open to the notion she isn’t very sorry at all about what happened, as Nicole lets out a frustrated cry.
Tag Team Match
PCP VS Nightfall Show
After the controversial ending of the IC championship match, Leia LeBeau had another shot at Matt Stone, though this one came in a tag match where she partnered with her boyfriend Donovan Keane. PCP has already got their share of success in MWE, and would want nothing more than to keep the momentum going to put themselves in the title picture. Nightfall Rising, on the other hand, are not aiming at the belts. Or actually, Donnie might be but with his regular partner Jay Gallagher while the Show only focus remained the IC title. Starting the match against the Name Dropper, Leia immediately put the Canadian on notice, forcing him back against the ropes with a flurry of kicks. She reluctantly conceded the rope break, and immediately took the chance to, once again, walk away from the fight against the Show. Ronnie replaced him in the ring, using her speed to roll under Leia’s clothesline and hit the ropes on the opposite side. Whatever her intentions were on the rebound, she never got to put them into practice because a kick to the back from Donnie halted her momentum. While the referee lectured Keane about how interference of that kind won’t be tolerated, his girlfriend sent Sawyer out of the ring with a clothesline. The Show tagged her man in and Donnie leaped backwards to take the Canadian down with a moonsault from the apron, landing perfectly on his feet and taking a bow while Leia applauded his feat of athleticism. Nightfall Show may not be a regular tag team but their natural chemistry was second to none. They did a great job at cutting the ring in half and keep Veronica away from Matt, at least until she managed to surprise Leia with her Love At First Kick. Now that she had cleared the way to her corner, she rushed and tagged Matt back in. Starting from a position of advantage while Leia was still dazed from Sawyer’s stiff kick, Stone kept attacking Leia with knee strikes to the head. He attempted a couple of pinfalls, but the former Junior Heavyweight champion always kicked out with ease. Matt turned things up a notch and planted her with stalling piledriver but, in that case, it was Donnie who made the save. Leia wasn’t going to give up so easily, wanting nothing more than to taste that sweet revenge on the man who cowardly ran from their last match. Applying what she learned from their first confrontation, she waited for the right moment to counter. And when she struck, she struck hard with a crane kick, sending Matt into the corner. She then proceeded to choke him with her foot while performing a headstand, stopping only when the referee counted to four. Insisting on that strategy, Leia kept wearing Matt down with various chokes and neck holds. And while Matt proudly, and rightfully, called himself one of the best technicians in the company (he’d say best in the world, but that’s another story), Leia was able to successfully keep him grounded with a triangle choke. Leia’s strategy was clear, she was carefully working her way to a submission win with her Sin City Sleepover. She called it, announcing to the fans that she was going to put Stone to sleep. Veronica entered the ring, Donnie intercepted her and Matt took advantage of the chaos, pushing the referee into Leia. The two didn’t collide only because of the official’s quick reflexes, but he stopped awkwardly close to the beautiful former champion. Matt shoved him aside and connected the C-c-c-c Combo Breaker, Donovan quickly turned around to save his girl but a low blow from Sawyer blocked his attempt. WINNER: PCP BY: Pinfall (C-c-c-c Combo Breaker), 11:24 |
We cut backstage to the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware. We are near the ready area. “The Assassin” Clyde Sutter steps out into view fully dressed in his black wrestling trunks, black boots, and black knee pads. He is wearing a black trench coat. He has his MWE MENTV Championship title belt wrapped around his waist. A confident, smug grin is etched across his face.
Clyde Sutter:
It isn’t personal, it is never ever personal. It is always about business. When it comes to The Assassin, everything is about doing good business. The reason I became a wrestler in the first place isn’t because of some misguided notion of competition or sportsmanship. I became a wrestler for the simple reason that hurting is what I do best. In fact, I do that better than anyone else in this company.
Sutter sneers.
Clyde Sutter:
For awhile I allowed Mason Van Stanton guide my career. I knew Van Stanton was only out for himself but I didn’t care. Because my alliance with Van Stanton was good for business at the time. I learned a great deal from Van Stanton. One lesson that I learned from Van Stanton is that if you are good at something, never ever do it for free. I could mow over every single person in this roster, I could leave them all lying in a bloody heap, and I get paid to do it. But if I get paid extra by that nitwit Tiffany Page to destroy her enemies first, while temporarily leaving her alone? Hell, why not? It’s good business.
The Assassin shakes his head.
Clyde Sutter:
Unfortunately I did let me personal feelings and emotions get in the way of good business. My bitter feelings towards one Glory Braddock clouded my judgment and I let her take this championship away from me.
He pats the MENTV Title belt around his waist.
Clyde Sutter:
Just like Glory Braddock has refocused, I too have refocused. Braddock, our business has been settled. Our rivalry has ended. You were a worthy challenger and now we are both moving on to bigger and better things. You are moving to challenge for the MWE World Championship. While I am back to being the best MENTV Champion I possibly can be. And the bad news for the rest of the roster here in MWE is that I will never again let my emotions cloud my judgment. I am going to steamroll over each and every one of you, I will victimize every single one of you.
Sutter points a finger at the camera.
Clyde Sutter:
Beginning with you, Devon Slayton. You are not special, Devon. This championship match tonight is not an opportunity for you. It is not a reward for anything you have done. You are but merely a victim. You are a lamb being led to the slaughter. Your time, Mr. Slayton, is up. You are about to step into the ring and stare into the eyes of fate. So just embrace fate, accept the fate that is about to fall upon you, because there is nothing you can do to stop me. Tick, tock…tick, tock…
The Assassin turns and walks off.
MENTV Championship Match
Clyde Sutter © VS Devon SlaytonFirst defense of Sutter’s second reign as MENTV champion and people wondered if it’d be as dominant as the first one of his first reign, when he got rid of Kate Steele in a short time. Judging by the hyper-aggressive start, the Assassin was looking to beat that time, immediately pinning Slayton in the corner and hitting him with several shoulder tackles to the mid-section. The referee stepped in to separate them but the truce only lasted a second, as Sutter pushed past the official and started kicking the opponent in the chest. Once again the break came for the ref’s intervention, though this time he tried to impose his authority, going face to face with the MENTV champion. At the end of the lecture, Clyde scoffed and went back to work on the opponent, but Devon was ready this time, raking the champion’s eyes and slamming his face into the turnbuckle. He did it several more times before sitting the Assassin on the top rope, with his back turned to the center of the ring. He climbed as well and connected with a top rope German suplex, Sutter landed hard on his neck, but he immediately got back to his feet. Slayton put more pressure on the neck with a hangman neckbreaker, attempting a cover after for a count of two. In what was, as expected, a very physical contest, Slayton was surprisingly getting the upper hand. Moves like the Black Flame (short-range high impact lariat) and the Cromwell Invocation (vertical suplex cutter) impacted Clyde’s neck, already hurting after the early super German Suplex. Sutter seemed to be in difficulty in what was perhaps, with the exception of his matches against Glory, the toughest match he had been in recent times. But eventually the class of the champion, and his ruthlessness, allowed him to turn things around. The key moment of the match when he completely turned the tides didn’t happen in the ring. During an excursion on the outside, he countered Devon’s attempt at throwing him into the steel steps, reversing the Irish whip and sending the Black Savior into the steps. The impact tore off the top part , leaving the lower one free to use for the champ. He dropped Clyde on it with a DDT, busting his head open. With blood gushing from his forehead, Slayton was pushed back in the ring. He got up and tried to fight back despite the injury, but it was clear that it was an uphill battle. Not afraid to, literally, get blood on his hands, Sutter kept hitting him on the wound with forearms and punches, stamping the canvas with a brainbuster. And while Devon managed to kick out from that, he surely couldn’t after Sutter’s devastating Unforgiven (claymore kick) knocked him down. WINNER: Clyde Sutter (STILL MENTV CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Unforgiven), 11:00 |
“And here we go again.”
Duke Andrews. Standing with his back to the camera, arms open wide inside of a dimly lit area of the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware. Sporting a fresh t-shirt with the FJB in the Star Spangled Banner, the sleeves cleanly torn off. His hat proudly still reading “Make America Great Again” in white against the red fabric.
Spinning around and closing his hands together as he stares into the camera. The “Goon Squad” logo on the left chest of the shirt.
Duke Andrews:
Elephant in the room. No, not talking about the size of Karen Eldon’s derrière. Let’s cut to the chase. “Vegas” Vincent Moretti. “Totally Straight” Elsa McCarthy. The two of you and this game you’re playing. I’ve seen through the charades. I’ve seen the writing on the wall. Now, I’m changing the rest of how this story gets written.
Clasping his fingers together as he slowly sits down in the folding chair behind him.
Duke Andrews:
From day one I said I wanted a rematch. My words were never heard. I didn’t care how it would come about. You tell me to go through the roster on wednesdays. Done. You tell me to go through the roster on saturdays. Done. But nothing. Instead there’s a conspiracy theory that I had Alan intervene in the match. Like what the fuck logic brings that on? Because Ol Christopher couldn’t fight his own battles. Because the last eighteen months didn’t prove that I’m not Constantine. But again, nothing. So I begin chirping. Calling out the fat lug. And nothing. A tag match against two wannabe gangsters. Proven again, everyone wanna be a gangster until it’s time to do gangster shit.
Leaning back as he crosses his legs in front of him. His snake skins on full display for the camera.
Duke Andrews:
Again, chirping because there’s no answers given. Nothing. Yet Reeves gets a match on the biggest Millennium to date. Yet the best fucking wrestler in the company gets left off until an impromptu tag match? Okay. Chirp again. Chirp. Chirp. Chirp. Finally Elsa says that it’ll happen. But nothing.
Shaking his head as he cracks his knuckles.
Duke Andrews:
And now I begin to take matters into my own hands. I have the greatest team around me. The tag team champions and one of my best friends with Tank wanting to have a great match with them. Alan Envy who is one of the best in ring performers in this business. So what is left? Bringing home what should’ve never left my possession. I’ve taken down everyone that’s been put in front of me. I’ve proven that I can and will beat anyone in not just this company but this industry. So I made the call. I said give me the golden child and I’ll put his old ass to pasture once and for all. I know Vincent that will hurt you more than anyone. But Seth, come on man, do you honestly think that anyone in this company outside of Vince thinks you’re the guy? I said give me Reeves. Since we all know how great she is, I said I’ll take her on. Hell, load up my schedule until Dark Web IV. Give me Gloria. Give me the dead in Hearst. Bring back Constantine. Hell, set up the gauntlet and I’ll prove once again that time after time, I’m the fucking best that this company has. Call up your old friends. SERO, Jennifer Yang, Eliza Valentine, Kelsey McMillion, Christopher Kane.
A brief pause as Duke leans forward again in the chair. Folding his arms and resting them on his knees. His words were not spoken in the sarcastic tone. But packed with passion behind every syllable.
Duke Andrews:
When I say that tonight is your funeral, Glory I’m not saying that to be funny, not to brag, not to make misconstrued comments. I promise you that the end of your hopes and dreams of claiming one World Title that you’ve never had, ends tonight. You and I have a little history. You had the first win over me in months. But that man you saw at On the Rise…
He snapped his neck. Cracking his spine as he stared intently into the camera. His smirk providing the truth behind his words.
Duke Andrews:
Sixty Minutes. Sixty minutes of hell can change a man. You know it. I know it. We both left part of us in the Coliseum that night. But you haven’t bounced back into that hungry animal. You talk like you are ready to stand at the top. But everyone can see that you’re not that same person. Tonight isn’t personal, take it as a gift. Let me do you the favor of not getting your hopes up high enough to think that you can stand in the center of the fight as a World Champion. This is my time. There is no luck involved at this time. Luck is only a product of hard work. And looking at you, looking at the rest of the people that want a shot, the hardest worker is the only one on camera right now. The hardest worker is the one that management is trying to keep away from the top. Whether they want to admit it or not.
Leaning back again in the chair.
Duke Andrews:
Tonight I snatch the control from you Vince and you Elsa. I start writing this story now
Fade.
Singles Match
Echo VS Dez Ali
Perhaps attacking Tiana in the opening match wasn’t a great idea. The thought surely crossed Dez’ mind as Echo assaulted him before the bell even sounded and started pounding his face with lefts and rights. The Australian, who had developed a sort of admiration for Petrova-Hammond after their match at Below Zero, and seeing Ali attacking her like that triggered her darkest instinct. It wasn’t about winning the match, it was just a beatdown. Which was ironic, considering how only a few months ago she brutally attacked the former Gold Star. Anyway, her ruthless attack wasn’t slowing down once the match officially started. The break the referee asked for and obtained to officially start the contest only lasted the blink of an eye and the Junior Heavyweight champion was, once again, all over the Bad Boy, kicking him on the chest into the corner. She sent him into the opposite corner but Ali grabbed the ropes and performed a headstand, causing the Junior Heavyweight champion to crash into the empty corner. He landed behind her and, as soon as she turned around to attack him, shoved her back against the turnbuckles with a dropkick. He then wrapped his arm around her head and ran toward the center of the ring, slamming her on her face with a bulldog. Dez then rolled the champ on her back and made the cover, but Echo kicked out in one. Ali knew that his speed and agility could create some troubles for the Australian. He saw that when she faced his former fellow Academy Students Trinity and, more recently, JJ Night. And in all honesty, that seemed the key to scoring the upset victory against the woman who has ruled over the Junior Heavyweight division with an iron fist for the past ten months. He came really close to that W with a beautiful shooting star press after a running knee to the face, but he pinned her too close to the ropes and Echo could easily save herself by placing her foot on them. Disappointed, but determined to obtain a prestigious victory and the potential title shot that’d come with it, Dez picked the opponent up and tried to suplex her. Echo fought back and began to use her free hand to punch him in the ribs, getting free from the grasp. She drove her knee in his midsection a couple of times, doubling him over, and then kneed his face in with more brutal strikes. She then set him up for a powerbomb and launched him in the corner, following with a splash. Contrary to her usual gameplan, she didn’t go for the legs, a submission win was not her goal tonight. She just punished the Bad Boy with stiff strikes until he could barely stand. Then she sent him into the ropes and caught him on the rebound with The Reverb, obtaining another win. WINNER: Echo BY: Pinfall (The Reverb), 11:33 |
Echo looked down at the opponent she just defeated shaking her with disdain. Clearly not over with his actions prior in the night, she wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine. She left the ring and grabbed a chair from ringside, entering the ring ready to hit Dez with it. The crowd didn't seem to have a problem with it, the Bad Boyz, and Michael Ali's son in particular, didn't really do much to earn the love of the fans. Some of them were even cheering for Echo, wanting to see her bashing Dez' head.
One person though seemed to have an issue with that, quickly running down the ring to stop the Australian. JJ Night was back after the table match at Centum, still determined to take the title from Echo and, in this circumstance, to stop her from hurting his former fellow student. A noble act that earned a controversial reaction, with some fans letting him now that they didn't appreciate the meddling. The two stared at each other intesely, Echo looked ready to attack the young man. But she didn't, dropping the chair and leaving the ring instead.
JJ helped Ali back to his feet, but when Dez extended his hand to thank him for the save, JJ turned around and rolled under the bottom rope, heading backstage.

Backstage we find “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock with her bags in hand, dressed in denim jeans, black boots, a royal purple t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. Her long blonde hair cascades freely to past the shoulders. Walking side by side with Braddock is the young lady who is being mentored under Glory’s tutorship; young Fiona Osbourne.
Fiona:
You wanted a match, didn’t you Ms. Braddock?
Glory Braddock:
I did…and don’t call me Ms. Braddock. That’s too bloody formal, love. We’re friends. Call me Glory.
Fiona:
Sorry Ms. Bra…err I mean Glory.
Braddock chuckles softly.
Glory Braddock:
It’s ok, mate.
Fiona:
Uh, you’re facing Duke Andrews. A former world champion. Are you ready for it? Is there anything I can do to help? Can I…
Braddock shakes her head.
Glory Braddock:
There’s nothing you can do, love. Just when the time comes sit back, watch, and take good notes. Do your homework, watch what I do in that ring and hell, watch what Duke does in that ring. He may be a dick but he’s a good wrestler. Learn everything you can from everyone you can. You should never ever stop learning. When you do? You’re probably dead.
Fiona:
Right. It’s just, uh…
Fiona sighs.
Fiona:
...I just want to see you win. Y’know? After seeing how he talks about you and everyone. He’s so arrogant. I want to see you shove it all in his face.
Glory Braddock:
“He may be arrogant but I’m not exactly innocent, either. Once upon a time I would run around calling myself the best in the world. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, in life and in that ring. But what makes a good person great is the ability to learn from your mistakes. Yes, I have had my opportunities and I have failed to capture the top prize in MWE. But you know what, Fiona? I have learned from both of those previous two attempts.”
The British Bombshell holds up three fingers.
Glory Braddock:
They say that the third time is the charm. Maybe that’s true for me? All I know is that I will continue to ply my craft, I will continue to grow and learn, and when I do get my third opportunity…and it will come, sooner or later…I will not let that third opportunity slip away. I will become MWE World Champion. Then I can truthfully claim to be the best. Because the truth is, Fiona, what happens in that ring is what separates those who are good from those who are the best. Fact is that I have beaten Duke. He also beat me. Duke recently was beaten by Brookford. Now him and everyone else in MWE is gunning for Brookford and the championship.
Fiona:
How are you going to separate yourself from everyone else when there are sooooo many out there gunning for Brookford?
Glory chuckles softly. She pats Fiona on the head.
Glory Braddock:
Weren’t you listening, mate? What happens in that ring is what separates us. All I needed was a chance and now I have that chance. Not only do I have a chance, I have the former MWE World Champion. I have Duke Andrews. I’ve beaten him before, I know I can beat him again, despite what he may say. Tonight I will do whatever it takes to win so I can prove myself as a top contender and challenger for that championship. Because that title, that MWE World Championship, that is what proves you are the best. Not silly catchphrases, anyone can say they are the best. But holding that title, that is evidence you are the best. Tonight, Fiona, is my first step towards getting another crack at that championship.
Fiona:
Do you think you can beat him?
Braddock smirks.
Glory Braddock:
I know I can.
Singles Match
Glory Braddock VS Duke AndrewsOnly four months ago, these two were fighting for the company’s greatest prize, the MWE World championship that, at the time, Duke was holding. They went to war for an hour at On The Rise, and as much as Andrews tries to downplay the opponent, he knows that Glory took him to the limit and he better not underestimate her. The Best In The World, still on her quest to her 16th World Title, was looking for a win to back up her claims and give strength to her candidacy as BROOKFORD’s challenger at Dark Web IV. The premises for a great match with possible title implications were all there, and the fans were excited for this match. As soon as the bell sounded though, the lights went out. By the time they came back Valentine was in the ring, standing in front of the former World champion. It’s not often that Duke has to look up to stare in someone’s eyes, but Valentine was towering him. The eye contact between the two didn’t last long though as The Despoiler punched the Epitome Of Perfection in the throat, shutting him up as Duke was telling him to get the fuck out. The DQ was immediate and a rightfully pissed Glory went to confront Valentine about it. She found Evie in her way, the Ravager’s manager stepping in the ring to tell the British Bombshell to “stand back” because what was happening was “ineluctable”. Valentine dropped Duke down with his Desolation v2 (pumphandle piledriver), but he didn’t seem to be done yet. Despite Evie’s recommendation, Glory couldn’t stand there watching as the Ravager decimated Duke and charged at him. He didn’t even turn around, stopping the former Riot and MENTV champion with an elbow to the face before flattening her with the Facelift. Valentine then left the ring, but not the area. He pulled out a table from under the ring and set it up before heading back in the ring. There he found Duke back on his feet and ready to fight. Michigan’s Favorite Son connected a few stiff punches but couldn’t stop the behemoth. After knocking the former champ back with a headbutt, Valentine set him up for the Precipice Of Apocalypse, throwing the leader of APE out of the ring and through the table. WINNER: Duke Andrews BY: DQ, 0:06 |
Back stage beyond catering and a few of this lame reporters trying to get soundbites for thier podcast with like, 15 listeners, we see Devin Hearst rocking one of his signature beach bum looks. But enough of that guy, this isn’t a Devin Hearst segment, its a Dustin Douglas one. As Hearst walks around back stage, the large, muscular, and sensual frame of Dusty Douglas comes into view. He is holding a large suitcase. The two men, close work friends, the mentor and the mentee…is that the word? What a weird word. Anyway, Dusty walks up to Devin and simply drops the bag at his feet.
Dustin Douglas:
I can’t carry this anymore Hearst….I got things to do.
Dustin offers his hand out for a fist bump. Devin reciprocates and Dusty nods and walks off
Devin Hearst:
Atta boy Train…do work.
Tag Team Match
K2O VS Tank Steiner & Dusty Douglas
A match that’s been on the fans’ mouths for weeks, often requested especially by Dustin but never booked by neither Moretti nor Elsa. Until tonight. K2O, confident and arrogant as always, taunted the opponents. With one of their classic tricks, Olly pretended to leave the ring only to quickly turn around as soon as the bell sounded to attack the opposing team’s legal man along with his partner. Tank found himself dealing with a two on one attack, aware that the referee’s demands that Olly would leave the ring will be ignored by the Academy graduate. The former Tag champions kept pounding him with forearm strikes to the back. Then, all of a sudden, Herr Steiner reacted, pushing the two opponents back and leveling them with a double clothesline. The crowd erupted in cheers as he pushed Olly out of the ring with his foot and turned his attention to Karen. He pulled her up and delivered a couple of uppercuts before body-slamming her onto the canvas and falling onto her with an elbow drop. The two big men were having a good time, working together against Eldon and showing the evergrowing chemistry between them with some tag moves. Including a fun (not for the woman) double splash. Sir FIggles started to make a joke about Karen being double teamed but a punch to the shoulder by Amy shut him up before he could deliver it. Back to the action, the duo of Dusty and Tank was in absolute control, with Douglas now powerbombing the woman on his partner’s knee. Douglas hooked the leg but Olly broke up the pin. A rough night for K2O against the opponent’s size and power. Olly hadn’t had a chance to get in the ring yet, except for the occasional raid to break up a pinning predicament. Karen took a lot of punishment but she was still in this match, still fighting and desperately looking for that opening that would allow her to reach Olly in the corner and get a much needed break. The resourceful woman created that opportunity with the help of her partner who distracted the referee so that she could hit the Murder Train with a knee to the crotch and plant him on his head with a DDT. Under a rain of boos she crawled toward the corner and finally made the tag. Olly entered the ring and took the fight to the Big Nasty. Unafraid despite the size difference, he took on him head on, trading blows with the Oklahoma native. Needless to say, the crowd was all on Dusty’s side, and that perhaps helped him get the upper hand in a surprisingly evenly matched contest. Olly’s only advantage in this situation was his freshness, and he made the best of it, knocking Douglas back a few steps with the Leap Of Faith. Tank made the tag and entered the ring, and Olly invited him to attack. Obviously the big Austrian didn’t need to hear it twice and began trading punches with the young man. Easily getting the best, Steiner forced Olly back in the corner where he could punish him with his trademark knife edge chops. The former tag champion used his head, in the most literal sense, to get out of this predicament. A headbutt created some separation between him and Steiner, allowing him to take the man down with a sling blade and follow with a Random Act Of Violence. Lifting Tank over his shoulders for the Born To Lose didn’t seem to be an option so Olly opted for a second knee to the head. Before he could hit him, he heard his name being called. Lucie Callaway was there with the trademark tire iron, threatening to use it on Karen. And she probably would have, but distracting Olly long enough for Tank to recover and connect the Austrian suplex seemed like enough of a win to her. More so than the big guy then squashed Olly with Der große Kaboom (top rope moonsault) for the win. WINNER: Tank Steiner & Dusty Douglas BY: Pinfall (Der große Kaboom), 14:28 |
Singles Match
Alex Andrews VS West LongAmy Maynard “The Riot champion is back in action in our main event tonight. And she has a huge challenge in front of her.” Sir Figgles: West Long is quite the veteran here in MWE, but he never quite expressed his full potential. I talked with him briefly backstage earlier tonight, I’ve never seen him so focused and determined.I’m telling you now, 2022 is the year of the Warwolf.” Amy Maynard: “He surely is threatening. Just look at that physique Alex definitely has her work cut out for her.” They say that the best approach against big opponents like Long is to keep moving and aim at the legs. They say that guys of that size are slower and suffer when the pace is quick. Well, Alex followed those advice, but those “rules” didn’t seem to apply against West. Deceptively quick, he matched the opponent’s speed, even showing a surprising athleticism leapfrogging over her. As for attacking the legs? Good luck chopping down those trees, Alex! Her kicks seemed to barely affect the Warwolf who never buckled and continued his inexorable advance until he managed to grab the Riot champion by the throat. With disarming ease, he lifted her in the air for a chokeslam. Alex swung her leg and kicked him in the stomach, causing him to lose the grip and doubling him over. Wasting no time, she hit the ropes to gain some momentum behind her Elysium (running bicycle kick) but West recovered quickly and ran to a different side of the ring, meeting the Riot champion as she bounced back with a terrific pounce that sent Andrews flying across the ring. She rolled under the bottom rope and lied down on the apron to regroup, which gave Long the chance to flex and earn the boos of the fans. Amy Maynard: “Even the attitude seems to have changed. Last time we saw him he was just Luna’s silent hired muscles. Speaking of which, is their partnership still in effect?” Sir Figgles: “I mean, look for yourself. Do you see her around? Did you see them talking backstage?” After bringing the champion back in the ring with a suplex, Long’s dominance continued with heavy strikes and ring-rattling power moves. Alex has rarely been in such difficulty, West was literally tossing her around like a rag doll and, five minutes into this match, the champ had yet to land a noteworthy move. Not only that, but she almost got put out for good by his one-handed spinebuster. She managed to pop up a shoulder just in the nick of time, nourishing the hope of the Delaware fans who kept cheering her on. Unlike other times though, the support of the crowd didn’t have the desired effect. Alex wasn’t able to feed on it to start the comeback, Long’s relentless offense had her in the corner and, soon enough, he sent her flying out of the ring with a gorilla press drop, throwing her all the way into the first row. Sir Figgles: “One of these days, he’s going to kill someone with that move and we all will be out of job.” Amy Maynard: “One of his opponents? Or a fan?” Sir Figgles: “Yes.” Amy Maynard: “It does look brutal. And Alex hasn’t gotten up yet.” West left the ring and grabbed a handful of the champion’s hair to pull her up and throw her back on this side of the barricade. He manhandled her on the outside for the full count of ten, throwing her against the apron and the barricade a few times before moving the fight back in the ring and immediately trying to put her away with a cover, obtaining another ear fall. He tried once again a minute later after a mean spear, but the champion proved once again her resilience and popped the shoulder up. It was clear that she needed an episode to turn the tides, a small opening to try to counter West’s dominance. Whatever she needed to do, she had to do it quickly as Long looked ready to seal the deal with his Point Blank (fireman’s carry powerslam). Andrews managed to slip away and desperately pushed the opponent chest-first into the turnbuckle. As he bounced off after the impact, she jumped on his back and connected her Broken Wings (backstabber). And just like that, the crowd came alive once again, erupting in cheers for the Riot champion. Amy Maynard: “It’s incredible how she can still go after everything she went through..” Sir Figgles: “This means nothing, it’s just a flash in the pan. You’re a fool if you think that she stands a chance.” No matter how uphill this battle was, Lady Limitless was going to fight till the very end to accomplish what may people consider, especially seeing how the match went down up to this moment, impossible. Kick after kick, punch after punch, she gained ground and finally took the big man down with the Elysium. She hooked both legs for a deep cover, but West still kicked out with authority. Without losing heart, Alex went back to work, trying to wear the giant down with a sleeper hold. Not the best decision seeing how easily he squashed her into the corner and put an abrupt stop to her momentum. With a Biel toss he threw her across the ring, leveling her with a big boot as soon as she picked herself up. Once again Long was in control, getting another near fall with a samoan drop. When he whipped Alex against the ropes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker though, the Riot champion managed to countered it into a ddt. Amy Maynard: “What a counter! Come on Alex, you can do it!” The fans shared Amy’s hope and chanted for the champ on top of their lungs, really pushing her that extra mile. She connected the Alex Cutter and got another near fall. Not without difficulty, she even managed to hit the Hella Rough, but not even that was enough to keep the beast down. We were at the crucial moment of the match. Alex literally stalked the opponent, almost pleading him to get up. And when he did, she hit him with the Brain Death. This had to be it, right? The fans clearly thought so, blowing up the roof with the loudest pop of the night. But Alex wasn’t so sure, preferring to wait another moment and deliver a second step-up axe kick before making the cover and picking up a hard fought victory. WINNER: Alex Andrews BY: Pinfall (Brain Death), 19:49 |
An exhausted Alex was celebrating the victory, receiving a standing ovation from the fans. She never saw Luna sliding in the ring behind her and blasing her with a clothesline to the back. The Star Of The Night was here, clearing any doubt the fans may have about her partnership with Long. She dragged the Riot champion up and began hitting her with feroucious knees to the face while holding her in a clinch position. The assault ended with the Starstorm (spinning roundhouse kick) that knocked Andrews down. The boos were deafening already, but they grew even louder when Luna picked up the Riot championship and asked Long to wrap it around her waist.
She struck some poses, inviting the cameraman and photographers to "snap a pic of the future". And on that image, the show came to an end.
