The Principal's Office February 2nd, 2022 7:32 AM
Gianluigi Vaccaro had just entered the Academy. Literally, he only had time to take off his overcoat and hang it on the rack when there was a knock at the door.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Uh? Come in.
Surprised but not annoyed by the first visit of the day at this early hours, the Principal removed his scarf and carefully put it on the hanger with the jacket, rubbing his benumbed by the cold hands together. The door opened and in came Helena Noir, holding a folder in her hands.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Helena.. I assume you have made your decision.
He said inviting the team leader to take a seat in front of him. As she did that, she handed over the folder to the principal.
Helena Noir: I did, its the first file in the folder.
Gian opened it and looked at the paper inside. His eyes then glanced up at the former MWE Intercontinental champion before getting back at the file.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: It's an interesting profile, that's for sure. But I can't hide my concern...
Helena Noir: I'm not one to condemn a kid for someone else's sins.
She cut him off. Gian took another long look at the file before continuing.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Neither am I, obviously. And I do believe that, in this case, the apple did fall far from the three. In my short conversation with him, he seemed really upset by his family's actions, sincere when he said he's nothing like them.
Closing the folder, he looked back at Helena.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: A name like his surely brings a lot of attention to the Academy, and we saw recently that's not necessarily a good thing, first and foremost for the students. We already lost Bey over an excessive pressure from the outside...
Helena Noir: This is very different Gian. Bey had people worshipping her, that made her think that she was better than everyone, that she had nothing to learn and nothing to prove. That her name alone automatically made her better than everyone.
Helena paused, clearly losing Addams still bothered her.
Helena Noir: He has everything to prove. He doesn't see his name as a way to get a preferential treatment, he doesn't feel like we owe him anything just for who he is. That name has become a burden to him, it put on him a label he now needs to remove. The Academy is really a second chance for him, and I am sure he will not waste it.
Helena's selling points seemed to have convinced Gian.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: He really did impress you... Fine, I'll trust your judgement. I'll summon him here for Monday, do you still think he should debut at Centum?
Noir nodded, standing up from her seat.
Helena Noir: Team him up with Jasper. He's the easiest guy to work with on my team. I'm sure he'd love to team with the new guy, his enthusiasm can only do good to him.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Sounds good to me. Thank you Helena.
Helena Noir: Thank you, Gian. And sorry about the ungodly hour.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Not a problem.
He waved goodbye at Helena with a gesture of his hand, looking back at the new student's file as the leader of Team Noir left the room,
Singles Match
Emma Wakefield VS Rainer Nordhagen
- Emma walked in her first match since December with her injured shoulder wrapped in athletic tape. Meant to help her during this rehabilitation period, the colored bandage provided a clear target for Rainer's attacks.
- The former Gold Star immediately went for that arm, twisting it as he put the opponent in a painful shoulder lock, forcing her to one knee.
- Wakefield struggled a bit but managed to make it back to her feet and reverse the hold. She sent Rainer into the ropes with an irish whip but the German-Australian reversed it. As Emma bounced back, Nordhagen took her down with a shoulder tackle and stomped on her shoulder.
- To escape his stomps, Emma rolled out of the ring, clutching her shoulder with the other arm. Looking to keep the momentum going and not wanting to give her time to recover, Rainer went on to chase her on the outside. Emma ran away, sliding back inside the ring and heading for the ropes on the opposite side. Rainer followed suit, going back in the squared circle just as Emma was bouncing back toward him, blasting him on the face with a running single leg dropkick.
- The blonde seemed to have left the injury completely behind her, showing the same smooth execution she dispalayed before the incident. She nailed Rainer with a beautiful tornado ddt but Rainer kicked out in two.
- Emma finished her kicking combination with a roundhouse that Nordhagen was able to duck. Rainer then quickly reached for Emma's wrist and extended her arm, jumping as he brought his knees up against her arm as he fell backwards.
- Obviously he focused on her arm and shoulder with various submission attempts, something Emma was expecting and prepared herself for, countering every hold he tried to put her in.
- By the end of the match, that right shoulder seemed to begin bothering Emma. Nonetheless, the young girl stayed on the attack and came very close to the three with a sunset flip.
- A small hesitation by Emma gave Rainer the opening he needed to turn the tides of the match. He shot Emma's diving crossbody attempt down with a superkick that caught Wakefield mid-flight and he immediately climbed to the top rope, jumping on her arm with a double foot stomp.
- Rainer picked her up and launched her into the corner, causing her shoulder to clash agaisnt the ring post. The clear expression of agony on her face didn't move Nordhagen to compassion. He pulled Emma back to the center of the ring and locked her in a cross armbreaker to which Emma tapped out immediately.
WINNER: Rainer Nordhagen BY: Submission (Cross Armbreaker), 11:08 |
Singles Match
Walker VS Addison McKinley
- No love lost between the two students who, without hesitation, stepped away from their corners and approached each other in the center of the ring. After a quick exchange of words, they got on with it, throwing wild punches at each other.
- Walker took control and locked Addison in a side headlock. He cranked down on the pressure but lost his grip as McKinley pushed him off and sent him to the ropes. Walker hit the ropes and came back only to run into a roundhouse kick that knocked him to his back with a thud.
- The New Yorker quickly rolled over and pushed himself up but a hard kick to the ribs from the Gold Star knocked him back to his stomach. She reched down and grabbed control of his left arm, stepping over it and tucking it between her legs. Rolling forward, she pinned his shoulders to the mat with a magistral cradle, obtaining a two count.
- Walker regained control and delivered two back to back knees to Addi’s stomach before picking her up and throwing her down to the canvas with a scoop slam.
- Walker then ran to the ropes and leaped in the air, landing on the middle rope. From there he springboarded off and flipped in the air at Addi with a moonsault but came up short as the champ rolled out of the way at the last second.
- With a drop toehold takedown Walker left Addison hanging on the middle rope. After trying to choke her by pressing his knee to the back of her neck and pushing down onto the ropes, Walker pulled her away from the edge of the ring and lifted her in the air, up to his side. He then dropped Addison down across his knee, connecting with a big backbreaker, obtaining a count of two.
- Walker lifted the Gold Star from the mat and hit her with a few closed fists to the forehead, leaving her wobbly on her knees. He darted at the ropes, coming back with a running big boot to the face that Addison managed to duck at the last second. Slipping her arm through his legs, she tried to catch him off guard with another quick pinning predicament, getting another near fall.
- The Gold Star managed to counter an irish whip and send her opponent in the corner. Wasting no time she charged in and hit him with a running dropkick to the face. Addison pulled the opponent back in the middle of the ring and dropped him with a swinging neckbreaker.
- A hurricanrana attempt from the Gold Star ended tragically for her as Walker caught her in mid-air and powerbombed her against the corner.
- A second hurricanrana attempt connected and sent Walker flying across the ring. Addi gave another display of athelticism popping up to her feet with a kip up and walking up to Walker. She knocked him down with an axe kick and performed a picture perfect moonsault, landing on top of her opponent and obtaining the win.
WINNER: Addison McKinley BY: Pinfall (Moonsault), 13:37 |
