The Principal's Office January 13th, 2022 6:49 PM
Another day was coming to an end at The Academy. Gian was filling out some paperwork before going home when there was a knock at his door.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Come in.
He said calmly, almost as if he was expecting a visit at this time of the day. As the door opened, Helena Noir walked in. Gian welcomed her with a smile, not at all surprised.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: You took your time. I guess it wasn't an easy decision.
He motioned at the chair in front of his desk, inviting her to take a seat. Noir politely refused with a gesture of her hand, nodding her head ever so slightly as confirmation to his words.
Helena Noir: It never is. I have a very talented group, and even those who started this journey with little to none preparation are now blooming, making great progress week after week.
Gianluigi nodded in agreement, before he quickly added.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: I'm glad to hear that. But, eventually, you choose your captain for tomorrow's match. Who is it going to be?
There was a long moment of silence after his question, almost as if Helena was second guessing her choice, or at least pondering it one more time. Finally she spoke.
Helena Noir: Bey Addams.
Her answer surprised the principal. He definitely didn't see it coming, not after the disgreements they had in the previous weeks, not after Bey fooled them by conceding the shot to Emma and then attack her.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: It doesn't happen often, but I admit you surprised me. Can I ask you the motivation behind your choice?
Helena Noir: I'm not happy with her actions, I haven't forgotten what she did at Below Zero. Antagonizing her didn't work as intended, she has such a big support system made of people who let her bright potential blind them from her visible flaws. And that's not going to help her growth. I figured that a different approach could maybe help her see where she still needs to improve.
This didn't seem to make it any clearer for Gian. Luckily, Helena continued.
Helena Noir: Don't get me wrong, I believe she has the skill to help our team to win, if she can make the five of them function as a unit. She wants to be the leader, she thinks she should be? Then I might as well make her take the role. I'm sure she'll figure out that being, or believing you are, better than the others doesn't make you a leader. What remains to be seen is if she'll learn it before the match or after she watched her team fall apart because she couldn't stay the course.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: That's quite the gamble.
He said with a nod as he noted down Bey's name, making it official.
Helena Noir: t could be her greatest success or the most humbling defeat. And she holds the key now. Either way, hopefully she'll learn something from this.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: And often times, a failure teaches you more than a win could ever do.
The principal added as he stood up from his chair.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Thank you, Helena.
She offered him a polite smile and shook his hand.
Helena Noir: See you tomorrow, Gian.
Five vs Five Captain's Fall Team Title Match
Team Noir © VS Team Strike
- Team Titles on the line in this five versus five match featuring all the talents in the Academy barring the injured ones. Elimination may occurr via pinfall or submission, until one of the captains gets pinned. If that happens, the match is over. Picking the captains wasn't an easy decision for the team leaders, both of them went for a somehow controversial choice. Lady Magdalena picked Addison McKinley as her team's Captain, causing Rainer Nordhagen to throw a fit. Him and Erika Eldon actually walked to the ring wearing custom #TeamRainer shirts, as a protest to her decision. Helena instead chose Bey Addams despite her despicable actions at the last PPV resulting in Emma's injury.
- Addams showed her leadership skills asking Jasper to start the match, and the first Gold Star of year two had no issues taking the mantle. For Team Strike it was a lot more complicated to agree on who should start. In the end, Addison took the matters in her hands and stepped up, even though this could be a huge risk for her team.
- Jasper's power was too much for McKinley, the captain of Team Strike almost fell three minutes in after a huge Samoan Drop by the big boy. Her best friend, or former best friend, Evelyn Carter made the save, though Addison didn't seem too happy about it.
- Team Strike was struggling to get on the same page. Rainer and Erika weren't very helpful, he even pretended he was distracted when McKinley went to make the tag, and the youngest member of the Academy was pulled back into a German suplex from the King Of Pumpkins.
- Jasper made the tag to Walker, who walked to Addi and picked her up off the floor. The captain of Team Strike connected a quick dropkick and created the opening to get to her corner. Vi looked eager to get in but McKinley ignored her and made the tag to Devin Levandrier.
- It was a high-octane exchange between the two ended with a step up enziguri from Walker. He followed with a standing moonsault but Levandrier raised his knees to protect himself. The Canadian then quickly picked Walker up and dropped him on his head with a brainbuster, hooking the leg for a cover.
- Walker sent Devin into the ropes and threw him in the air with a back body drop. The New York born turned around and taunted the opponent, asking him to stand up. He didn't realize that Evelyn tagged herself in. Carter quickly entered the ring and surprised Walker with a schoolboy pin. The members of Team Noir entered the ring to break up the pin, the members of Team Strike did the same and kept them away for three seconds, enough to eliminate Walker from the match.
- The referee had some problems restoring the order, as the all out brawl continued in the middle of the ring. And amidst the chaos, the recently eliminated Walker came back and struck Vi from behind with a superkick to the back of the head. Bey saw that and got rid of Erika, throwing her out of the ring and attacking Evelyn with a flurry of stomps. Jasper cleaned up the ring and the match could finally continue. Addams eventually dropped Evelyn on her head with a butterfly DDT and immediately evening the odds.
- Rainer was up next, locking horns with his next challenger for the Gold Star. Their exchange explained why they were the first pick for the respective teams. They really impressed in a long sequence of chain wrestling, from which Bey came out victorious, applying a hammerlock to the Gold Star. Nordhagen escaped it rather quickly with an elbow to the jaw, switching position with the Wrsitlock Academy graduate and dropping her onto his knee with a backbreaker.
- Rainer and Erika kept tagging in and out, showing great chemistry and claiming that Team Rainer is the superior team, and they don't need any help.
- It worked fine for them for a few minutes, but eventually Bey managed to break free and reach Shaina for the tag. The Videoblogger entered and hit Nordhagen with a dropkick. She attempted a quick pin but couldn't get past one as the german-australian immediately kicked out. Shaina surely had put in the work during these past weeks, adding some new acrobatic moves to her arsenal. Her tilt-a-whirl ddt perhaps needed some more polish but it still did the job, drilling Rainer and keeping him down for almost a whole count of three. It was Eldon who made the save, pulling Shaina's leg and dragging her out of the ring.
- As Shaina confronted Erika for her actions, Rainer got up to his feet and took a run to the ropes on the opposite side, hitting Sheridan with a baseball slide to the back and sending her crushing into Eldon. The impact knocked both of them down, Rainer quickly barked instructions at Devin asking him to push Shaina back in the ring, but Levandrier seemed more concerned about Erika, who looked quite dizzy after the collision. Addison, instead, saw the opportunity and decided to take it, pushing Sheridan back in the ring where Rainer did the rest, eliminating her with a bridging fisherman suplex.
- Bebe wasted no time and blasted the Gold Star with a running single leg knee strike, knocking him down. Having been kept on the sidelines until now, Bebe was eager to show her worth, and perhaps show Helena that she deserved the role of team captain. LeBeau got really close to the win with cheeky roll up holding onto Rainer's trunks for extra leverage but the Gold Star kicked out.
- Out Rainer and in came Erika, the umpeenth tag between them caused some friction on the ranks of Team Strike with Addi questioning his decision to tag a still stunned Erika when she and Devin were available to tag. As they bickered, they missed Bebe's roundhouse kick that knocked Erika flat on her back. Luckily for them Devin was paying attention and broke up the pin just in time. Bey jumped in and dropkicked the Canadian out of the ring, for once working together with Bebe, knocking Erika down with a double superkick. Bebe made the cover, Jasper made sure neither Rainer nor Addi could save her with a double clothesline.
- The numeric advantage lasted a bit longer this time for Team Noir and it almost increased as Bebe, definitely on fire tonight, almost pinned Devin with a springboard crossbody. She had Levandrier in the corner and she was ready to smash his fave with a running knee strike but Bey tagged herself in.
- After a brief argument with LeBeau, Bey charged toward Devin and leaped for a corner splash, hitting nothing but the empty corner. Devin wasted no time and made the tag to the fresh Addi, who dropped Bey down with a neckbreaker. The two captains traded blows and holds, trying to outdo one another and lead their team to the win. Addams trapped McKinley in an armbar but the team Strike captain wasn't giving up so easily. She started shifting her position, trying to find a way to escape. Then, with an impressive feat of strength, she just lifted Bey and powerbombed her into the canvas. As soon as Addison hooked the leg, Jasper and Shaina entered the ring to save their team, but they were intercepted by the opponents. Bebe hesitated a moment before getting in, breaking up the pin a millisecond after the three was counted.
