Singles Match
Marcus Ali Jr. VS Megan ColemanTonight marked the official in-ring debut for Megan Coleman after her appearance on the last Millennium episode side to side with Tiffany Lynn-Page. Marcus Ali was waiting for her in the ring, scanning nervously the crowd looking for the weird religious zealot that has been harassing the Bad Boyz since coming back. As the two competitors walked over to each other, Ali went for a frontal grapple and Coleman sucker punched him with an eye rake. As the Bad Boy turned around wiping his eyes,Megan pulled him back onto her knee with a vicious backbreaker. She leaned down and lifted him up, whipping him into the ropes. As Marcus bounced off the ropes, she went for a clothesline. Ali ducked it and continued his run, rebounding back with a superman punch that knocked the Indiana born down. As they both got to their feet, Marcus with a slight advantage was first and grabbed Megan’s wrist, whipping her into the corner. Ali ran toward her in the corner, but the Hands Of Steel caught him with a back elbow to the face. The former Angel Of Mercy stumbled back, but he was quick to catch Megan with a hip toss as she ran out of the corner. The Bostonian wasted no time and jumped in the air, landing on Megan with a legdrop. Minutes passed, and there was no sign of the preacher in the crowd. But that was far from reassuring for Marcus, especially after what happened on Millennium during Karib’s match. Coleman capitalized on the distracted opponent with her Meg Kick (superkick), sending the leader of the Bad Boyz flying on his back. The former Empire National champion began stomping at his arm, even hitting a big knee drop right above the elbow. Having an armbar as her finishing maneuver made it clear what she was doing here, laying in the groundwork to a submission victory. She pulled the Bad Boy up and twisted his arm behind the back in a hammerlock. Marcus broke the hold and took her down with a STO. He delivered a series of kicks to her chest as she was getting up, firing her into the ropes and taking her down with a shoulder block. Ali played to the crowd, getting them to cheer him as he connected a series of pendulum backbreakers on the newest signee. The Thugwrench Powerbomb almost got the job done, but Megan was able to kick out in two. Marcus was ready for the killing blow, signaling for the Iron Fist as he waited for the dazed opponent to get up. The sound of church bells distracted him, on the titantron the word “Repent” appeared, once again haunting the leader of the Bad Boyz. And costing him another match as Megan took him down with her Super Woman Punch, obtaining her first win in MWE. WINNER: Megan Coleman BY: Pinfall (Super Woman Punch), 9:36 |
We cut to earlier today with Dean Smith arriving at the arena with a very warm hometown hero welcome. He gives the waiting crowd a wave before letting Aubrey out the passenger seat and a subsection of the male fans gave him a “Nice Pull, Bro” which grew slightly. Stepping out too is Bree Smith who is looking very grouchy, but gets a pop for wearing the home team jersey, black shorts and her usual Monster’s Inc hat. Joining them in a separate car is Britney Anders’ most hated daddy, and Dean’s own dad Max, along with wife Cindy, MWE talent Millie and her younger sister Clover along with Lexie Smith who’s matching with Millie on tops but Lexie’s chosen jean shorts and wearing her very prominent ruby ring, while Millie has gone for more comfortable loungewear pants to try and conceal her figure a little. The crowd is cheering for them all until they notice that at the entrance to the building stands one person giving them a standing ovation, though it’s clearly insincere. Of course, the only person who would sarcastically applaud a group of loveable lads and lasses like that is the reigning MWE Intercontinental champion, Matt Stone.
Matt Stone:
Well well well, if it isn’t everyone’s favourite wrestling family, the Sharpes! Oh, wait, no…that’s not it…The Smithsons, right? Close enough, anyway.
Mimi Smith:
Very funny, Hatt Phone.
Mimi says stepping out of the car after pushing the back seats down to step out.
Dean Smith:
You’re a bold, bold guy to step up here in Smith country.
Aubrey Williams:
Is this the one who Bree took the title from?
She asks while standing besides Dean who confirms with a quick yeah back to her.
Aubrey Williams:
I saw that whole show you did to Bree here. Sabotaging her like that. What is wrong with you?
Matt Stone:
Wrong with me? All I did was get closer to the ring to get a better view, nothing wrong with that. It’s not my fault that she can’t stay focused, is it? You know, I think they have medication for that sort of issue, might be worth looking into, eh?
Bree Smith:
Don’t make me throw you into that dumpster over there, Dude.
Bree says trying to barge through but is stopped by Dean, Mimi and Millie. Matt doesn’t seem phased, though he does take a step back because he wants to get more comfortable. That’s the reason.
Dean Smith:
No, no, no. I’ve got ring time with him. Contractual, legal time to punch, kick, bruise, and batter the Shut Me Up Sap. Fair warning, that mouth will write a cheque those sad excuse of muscles can’t cash tonight.
Lexie Smith:
Shame there’s no cure for what you’ve got, Matthew.
Matt scoffs at that as Luna then arrives in a very custom ride. Her name’s a personalized plate. She’s clearly been shopping with some of the bags in the back and she steps out of the car, going a little too close to her peppermint tea and sneezes abruptly because of it, drawing all of Matt’s attention to her.
Luna Smith:
Oh, it’s that guy.
She rolls her eyes at the sight of Matt as his eyes widen at her presence, which doesn’t bode well for him in her rankings.
Matt Stone:
That guy?
He questions, eyeing the newest Smith on the block, not realizing he had crashed their family reunion featuring Aubrey.
Matt Stone:
I’m not just some guy, I’m the Intercontinental champion! I main evented the last Riot and I would be there again if I had a worthy challenger, I’ll thank you to notice.
Luna Smith:
I don’t notice anyone in the company unless you’re a 7 or higher, 4.
As Luna takes Clover by the hand and says something to her which makes her very excited to follow her bigger sister into the building along with her parents.
Bree Smith:
I’d be Lockdown champion right now if it wasn’t for you. So clearly you owe me one title match.
Matt looks like he wants to retort against being called a four but decided to focus more on Bree for now.
Matt Stone:
I told you what the deal was, Bree. You come with that Lockdown title and we’ll see about having a title match but sadly, you couldn’t hold up your end of the bargain, could you? Now I’m going to have to go out there and show you how a real champion handles their business when I go one on one with Dean ‘Mad Muscles’ Smith over there.
Aubrey Williams:
You know Dean would look so much better with that belt on him than you do. So when he does zip that foghorn of yours, he’ll be the contender, right?
She knew she was but gave a sassy slight turn of the head towards Matt.
Dean Smith:
Then I won’t sabotage my upcoming opponents with “deals”. Sounds like you wanted to get Bree out of the running.
At which point a fan starts up a “Matt Fears Bree” chant that spreads like wildfire. Lexie can’t help but smirk and heads inside with Millie, while Bree makes a gesture to turn the volume up and the fans really do.
Matt Stone:
Oh isn’t that just nice. You think I’m afraid of her?
He’s turned his attention to the crowd of people now, trying to talk over them.
Matt Stone:
You can shout all you want but you can’t drown me out. I’m the Intercontinental champion and it takes more than a mob mentality to SHUT ME UP!
Dean Smith:
I’ll handle that.
He smiles at him while draping an arm over Aubrey, and the pair head in.
Bree Smith:
You Owe Me a Title Match, and a Stone always pays his debt…
Bree remarks before shoulder checking Matt on her way into the building. That’s when Asher and Sabrina Smith show up with Sabrina getting out and remarking.
Sabrina Smith:
I told you that old navigation doesn’t work, Ashy. Bree, wait up!
Sabrina says scampering to catch up with Bree, losing one of her agent business cards on the way which sways as it falls, caught in a slight up draft and lands under Matt’s shoe.
Matt Stone:
They must have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque…
He says to himself as he noticed the card flutter over to him. Raising an eyebrow, he picks it up and looks over it, putting it in his pocket and heads back towards the arena.
Singles Match
Devon Slayton VS Crystal ZdunichDevon wasted no time and attacked Crystal at the sound of the ball, dropping her onto the mat with a wicked punch. He picked her up and went for an irish whip, sending her chest first into the corner. Grabbing her by the back of the head, he tried to smash her face against the top turnbuckle but the Blossoming Rose got her foot up on the second turnbuckle, blocking the attempt and elbowing Slayton in the gut, doing to him what he was planning to do to her and driving his face into the top turnbuckle. Three times she did that before exiting the ring and standing on the apron, watching the opponent stumble back to the center of the ring and waiting for the opponent to be in position for a smooth springboard ddt. She hooked the leg trying to end things early but Slayton lifted his shoulder in time. The veteran quickly took back control with a body slam, getting some speed after bouncing into the ropes to hit her with a fist drop. Determined to turn her MWE career around, Crystal wrestled a safe match, avoiding taking pointless risks that cost her in the past. Her attacks were nonetheless flashy and fast paced, but without too many aerial assaults that would expose her to Devon's counterattacks. Her Flashing Lights (chick kick) caught Slayton right on the side of the head and dropped him down like a ton of bricks. For a moment Crystal considered climbing the turnbuckle for one of her spectacular dives, but she changed her mind and opted for a regular cover instead. And perhaps that hesitation was the reason why she only obtained a count of two. That was the closest she got to the win, and also the last set of offense she was able to perform. From that moment on, it was all Slayton as the Black Savior turned the tides with his Hot Streak (bicycle high knee followed by a spinning back fist, spinning back kick and running knee strike to the head of the kneeling Crystal), The Blossoming Rose managed to kick out in the nick of time, but she was completely at the mercy of Devon. He followed with the Dead Zone (pumphandle flipping release half nelson suplex) and the vertical suplex cutter he called Cromwell Invocation. At that point, the Devil Trigger (standing cobra clutch into a ripcord elbow) looked like a mere formality, the exclamation point on an impressive win for the Minnesota born. WINNER: Devon Slayton BY: Pinfall (Devil Trigger), 8:16 |
Backstage one half of the fabulous duo known appropriately enough as Fabulous is pacing the floors anxiously. This is Summer Collins and she isn’t actually anxious, the better word is upset. A few feet away is her best friend and tag team partner, “The Archangel” Jessica Lasiewicz, who watches on with curiosity.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
You know, Summer, if you keep pacing around like that you will eventually create a moat.
Collins rolls her eyes.
Summer Collins:
Hardy har-har, Jess. You’re such a comedian.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
What’s wrong?
Collins sighs.
Summer Collins:
Look, the way I remember it we tried doing things your way…the right way. And it worked for a long time. We were GCW World Tag Team Champions, GCW Global Tag Team Champions, and MWE World Tag Team Champions. We were easily the most dominant team in the world of tag team wrestling. But then we lost our touch. Hell, we haven’t been able to get our traction back in several months. And when all of this happened, when we hit rock bottom, you said we could try things my way. Am I understanding this right?
Lasiewicz nods her head.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
That’s right…
Summer Collins:
Now if we were truly doing this MY way, then you’d let me use my connections to the MWE Tag Team Champions…I mean, come on Jess, I am married to one half of the reigning champions…and use that leverage to get us a title shot. But I understand you would rather earn our way back into the title picture, and I can respect that.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
Because if we use your marriage as leverage to get a title shot and then happened to win the titles we wouldn’t be proving anything now would we? Our reign would be tarnished.
Summer Collins:
I figured you would say that. And that’s fine, Jess, but at the very least we need to remind the world just who the hell we are. We need to remind everyone that we are a dangerous tag team, one of the best ever, and to do that I suggest we make an example out of Nightfall Rising.
Lasiewicz approaches Summer.
Jessica Lasiewicz:
Now that…that I can agree with. People have forgotten just how dominant we can be, people have forgotten how ruthless we can be. It is time that we once again became ruthless and vicious. Tonight, let’s stomp the guts out of Nightfall and open the eyes of the tag team division. We will put ourselves back on the map.
Summer Collins:
Fabulous!
Tag Team Match
Fabulous VS Nightfall Rising
You could tell that Jessica wasn’t too pleased with how things had been going recenty for her, last but not least losing the Cloud Gate number one contendership match. Determined to turn things around, she started the match against Jay, with Jay taking her off guard with a quick throat strike and immediately unloading kicks and strikes on her. A stepover spinning kick counter let him toss her across the ring with a snap suplex, but Gallagher was soon surprised by her resilience when she got up more quickly than expected. Jessica retaliated with forearm strikes and snap armdrags of her own until she got Jay just a little dizzy and she could drop him down with her patented swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker called In Your Dreams. She started to go for the cover but thought better of it when Donovan began to step into the ring preemptively. Summer was not going to take it and joined in as well, staring at Donnie. The referee pleaded with them, asking to leave the ring but of course he got the opposite reaction. Keane charged at Collins, taking her down with a clothesline. Jessica went to help her partner and restore the order but turning her back to Jay was a terrible mistake. Gallagher spiked her on her head with a reverse hurricanrana and quickly made the cover, forcing Jessica to a kick out in two and half. Both teams were neck and neck into the middle of the match, trading out members to stay fresh and each keeping the other from gaining too much ground. With Summer in against Keane, Donovan rallied with a Pelé kick that caught Collins off guard and left her momentarily stunned. Keane took full advantage, following up with a slingblade and a standing moonsault. He hooked the leg, but got just two before the former tag team champion kicked out. Eventually Summer battled her way to make a quick comeback, starting off with the Money Clip (stunner) perfect to turn the tables. Then she hit him with a flurry of kicks, chops in the corner and a full nelson suplex. When she attempted the cover though, Jay rushed in and made the last minute save. By the end of the match it still seemed neither team was any further ahead than the other, though Fabulous probably had a slight edge over the boys. Jessica tossed Keane back and forth across the ring a few times with suplexes, landing a spinning back elbow before tagging in Summer so they could finish things together with their In Your Dreams. But Jay quickly stepped into the ring, sprinting across for a double axe handle that sent her into Collins, knocking her off the apron before the tag was made. Even though he wasn’t the legal man, Gallagher still kicked the dazed Archangel in the head, sending her into his own tag partner’s arms. Donovan had her in a reverse STO position, where Jay kicked her in the head with an enziguri completing the Nightshot. Keane made the cover while Jay took out Summer with the Galla-Star press to the outside, ensuring the win for Nightfall Rising. WINNER: Nightfall Rising BY: Pinfall (Nightshot), 12:41 |
We cut backstage where we find “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock walking through the halls. The beautiful blonde has a warm smile on her face and she seems happy to be here. But that smile quickly fades as she stops dead in her tracks. What seems to be the problem? Well that is simple; she is being approached by none other than a former student of hers, reigning MENTV Champion Clyde Sutter. The Assassin has a sinister sneer etched across his face.
Clyde Sutter:
Well, well, well, if it isn’t my former teacher. How are you doing, Ms. Braddock?
Glory Braddock:
I WAS doing great until you came along.
Clyde Sutter:
If I had feelings they would be hurt right now.
Glory Braddock:
What the hell do you want?
Clyde Sutter:
I just want to point out how you have failed. And I don’t just mean how you failed to become MWE World Champion. Although that was fun to watch. Primarily I am referring to how you failed to keep me down. I know you have done your level best to blackball me from any and every wrestling promotion out there. And I admit, you were doing a good job. Your influence had kept me from being hired. But then Mason Van Stanton managed to get me a job here at MWE…
He chuckles nastily.
Clyde Sutter:
I used Van Stanton to get a job and then when I no longer needed him I cast him aside. Now here I am not just fulfilling my dream but also holding championship gold, which is more than what you can say.
Glory Braddock:
You really are deluded, aren’t you? For starters, yeah, you did use Van Stanton. I’m not exactly sad to see that jackass out of work because he was scum too. But you want to talk about being used? You’re being used by Page. And fulfilling your dream? Pfft, I’ve heard that sad song and dance from you too many times. Your dream was never to be a wrestler. You have no passion for this sport. You don’t care about this sport. Your ‘dream’ was to get paid to beat people up. Your ‘dream’ is to assault other men and women and it be perfectly legal. That’s your dream and that’s why I kicked you out of my wrestling school. You have no passion and you have no heart. And yes, you are a champion, but soon someone like me will come along and put you down like the dog that you are. Until then…
She pats Sutter on the back.
Glory Braddock:
...enjoy your time as champion, Sutter. And enjoy being Tiffany’s personal bitch.
Braddock walks off. Sutter stares coldly at her as she walks on by.
Singles Match
Matt Stone VS Dean SmithTo say that Dean was determined to be the one who shut Matt Stone up would be an understatement. If the unwritten rule that beating a champion can earn you a title shot wasn’t enough, he also had personal motives to go at him, after he cost his sister Bree her Lockdown championship opportunity. Dean assaulted the IC champion with his boxing combinations before throwing out a fisherman’s suplex, spear and his Four Uppercuts And A Dreading all in close succession, but wasn't able to keep Stone down for more than two. For his part Matt unloaded chops and European uppercuts into Dean until he was able to land a backbreaker/neckbreaker combination, but Smith was able to get the shoulder up in time. The match continued and it was some great back-and-forth action between them. A hard hitting contest which clearly favored the former Invictus champion, giving him a very long count of two with a fireman’s carry double knee gutbuster. After the high-octane pace in the early going of the match, they both shifted to a slower and more controlled tempo. If that meant for Matt to rely on holds and submission to keep the more powerful man off his feet and limit his offense, for Dean it was more taking his time to wear down the opponent, hitting him with shoulder tackles into the mid-section in the corner. He then tied Matt to the ropes and used him as a Training Dummy, delivering a few boxing combos to the Intercontinental champion. Nicole began protesting to the official forcing his hand into calling the rope break before the five count. She kept voicing her concerns and keeping the referee distracted while Matt hit Dean with a low blow, quickly pulling him down into the Stone Cutter. The IC champion made the cover but Dean kicked out in two. Dean was visibly slowed into the end of the match and Matt got another near fall after hitting his Piledriving Miss Daisy. But there was no quitting in Dean tonight, once again turning the momentum around with a throat jab followed by a quick spike ddt. Those devastating punches were wreaking havoc in Matt’s defense, knocking the Abominable Showman down. Smith went for the kill, climbing up to the top rope and delivering the Mean Dean diving knee strike. The cover was made and Nicole saved her client by putting his foot on the bottom rope. The manager played a big part in the end of the match, providing the distraction that allowed Matt to strike with the C-c-c-c combo Breaker and pick up a hard-fought win. WINNER: Matt Stone BY: Pinfall (C-c-c-c Combo Breaker), 13:22 |
“Cult of Personality” begins to play. The crowd roars to life as “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock steps out onto the stage. Braddock is dressed in a double breasted pocket decor pink blazer and matching colored pink skirt that stops just at the knee complete with matching pink high heel pumps and a white silk blouse. Her long blonde hair hangs straight and unrestrained to past the shoulders. The British Bombshell has a microphone in hand but stays silent, soaking in the cheers of the fans. Eventually “Cult of Personality” dies down and then Braddock brings the microphone to her lips and begins to speak.
Glory Braddock:
How the hell are you, Jacksonville?!
The crowd roars loudly, giving Braddock a positive response in her attempt at a cheap pop. Glory smirks, nodding her head approvingly.
Glory Braddock:
It feels great to see you, too. Now when I’m not on the road traveling to arena’s all over the world and kicking ass and choking people out, I make my home in nearby Miami. I know, that sounds weird since I am The British Bombshell and based on my lovely accent you can probably tell I was born and raised in London but I have made Miami my adopted home because I love it here in Florida and I love you people. You are really and truly great. You fans are the reason I do this job. And I was really hoping to be able to come to Jacksonville as your new MWE World Champion.
She shakes her head.
Glory Braddock:
Unfortunately it was not to be. I came close but in this business close means nothing. Fact is that I didn’t get the job done. I fought for one hour. I went the distance with Duke Andrews but I didn’t get the job done. Duke is a worthy champion and maybe we will dance again one day. Granted he did beat me when it mattered the most but I still own two victories over him. And On the Rise was a major let down, it was a disappointment, but if you think that is the end of my quest for a sixteenth World Championship then you really do not know a damn thing about Glory Braddock!
The crowd cheers loudly. Braddock nods her head.
Glory Braddock:
I know there are others eying Duke Andrews and a title shot, and I get it. I had my chance, I didn’t get the job done, so I don’t expect to get another chance immediately. And I have no problem fighting way back to the top and if that’s what I have to do then yes, I will fight my way back. But my journey is far from over. Glory Braddock may be a lot of things but one thing she is not is a quitter. In fact, I am one of the most stubborn bitches you will ever meet in this business. So I am here tonight to put the world on notice that I will one day be MWE World Champion. I will one day be a sixteen time World Champion. And in the meantime Moretti, Elsa, whoever, they can throw anyone they want at me. If I have to prove myself worthy yet again then put me against the toughest of challengers and I will put them all down. Whether it takes a month, a year, or however long it takes, I will keep fighting until I have championship gold back around this waist.
Singles Match
Billy Danielson VS Alan EnvyThe beginning of the match was all Billy as he looked to prove what The Franchise is all about. Danielson unloaded with haymakers until he managed to double Alan over, then delivered a big boot right to the face. Envy staggered back a step and Billy stayed on him with a missile dropkick in the corner, crushing him up against the turnbuckles. The second generation wrestler climbed up to the second rope and began to punch the Lonestar, the fans counting each and every fist that dropped on Alan’s face. One, two, three, four, five, six… Before the seventh could land, Alan lifted Billy up and powerbombed him into the canvas. The Iconic then fired off with some wicked knife edge chops, pushing Danielson all the way back into the ropes. An Irish whip sent the Bat Girl star bouncing back on the opposite side of the ring. Envy bent forward and flipped him in the air with a high angle back body drop, keeping the pressure on Billy with a series of hard stomps. A minute later, Alan scored the first near fall with a piledriver, but Danielson kicked out in two. Halfway through the match Alan had lost considerable ground after Billy caught him with his Imperium uranage that paved the way to the first of many Chicago Blackout. Alan nearly landed an overhand punch, but Billy trapped the arm and battered Envy with several rapid-fire headbutts until Alan almost went slack, dropping him with a nasty uppercut! He then dropped for a lateral press pin, obtaining a count of two and half. By the end of the match both men had slowed from the intensity of the fight, but neither was willing to give up. Billy got a near fall after landing two consecutive Chicago Blackouts, but Alan somehow managed to put his foot on the rope. Envy answered a minute later with a massive pop up death valley driver, but The Franchise somehow kicked out by the skin of his teeth. Envy’s career had seen a lot of ups and downs but what the Florida fans admired tonight was one of the best performances he had put on, closer to the guy who almost won the Battle For The Briefcase or the man who beat Heathen Jones in the main event of Deep In The Heart. But right when it looked like he could finish things off with the Envious Demise, the World Champion Duke Andrews hopped the barricade and entered the ring, blasting Alan in the face with the title. What the hell was that about? Could it be because of Envy interjecting himself in Tiffany’s match? Duke didn’t give any explanation, simply looking down at his brother in Christ, shaking his head. WINNER: Alan Envy BY: DQ, 15:11 |
The scene opens inside of a conference room. Sitting at a boardroom table is BROOKFORD. Per usual he is wearing a custom fitted, three piece suit. His halliburton briefcase is directly in front of him on the table.
BROOKFORD:
A week ago I was backstage shooting the breeze, thinking to myself should I use this briefcase to raise a bit more hell.
BROOKFORD pats the briefcase.
BROOKFORD:
And then you spoke Duke about no one stepping up to challenge you for the World Championship. I was a bit surprised too, to be honest. There are no shortage of jack offs in the locker room who will scream from the high heavens that they deserve to be champion. As they should. The MWE World Championship is the richest prize in all of wrestling. From experience I know how rich that championship is, Constantine did pay me to protect his reign. Memories.
BROOKFORD smirks.
BROOKFORD:
You listed off your challengers for Below Zero. Lowri and Joey Leclair? Seriously?
Don’t get me wrong. Lowri is a fine competitor. Proven her worth all around the world. Joey LeClair has been on his own personal journey to reach the mountain top. Longest reigning Chicago Way Champion. His resume speaks for itself. Those two fought to a draw. That’s how we’re deciding challengers for the World Championship? Their so-called contendership amounts to one big giant participation award. How about giving World Championship opportunities to people who actually earned it. Like, I don’t know, someone who battled through THREE death matches in one night to win this--
BROOKFORD points to his halliburton briefcase.
BROOKFORD:
Duke, I made you a promise I wouldn’t blindside you with a cash in. I wasn’t going to pull the same trick Seth did. Can’t accuse me of not a man of my word. Slight alteration to your World Championship match at Below Zero. It’ll be Lowri. It’ll be Joey AND it’ll be ME. Fatal Four Way Match at Below Zero for the MWE World Championship.
Could I have waited, challenged you one on one. Perhaps. The way I see it. Lowri is still one of the biggest names in this sport. Don’t recall us having the honor of facing before. Joey is the feel good story in this soiree. Embroiled in the fabric of MWE. The fans are invested in his journey to become World Champion for the very first time. Their names and stories have value. The ingredients of a money showdown, don’t you think? Plus, why should I fear the odds? You’ll likely respond that you beat me one on one, Duke. Fair enough. I didn’t allow that one setback derail me from beating the living hell out of your brother in Christ, Alan Envy. I have lived up to my word since our showdown that me becoming World Champion is inevitable. Winning this briefcase was step one. The whole roster could be thrown into this match. I don’t give a crap. Destiny is already written. At Below Zero I come to collect what belongs to me.
BROOKFORD stands up. He grabs his briefcase. He walks out the conference room as the scene fades to black.
Tag Team Match
Alex Andrews & Tiana Petrova-Hammond VS Pierce Manning & Echo
Amy Maynard: “A really interesting main event tonight, champions versus challengers. The Riot champion Pierce Manning teaming up with the Junior Heavyweight champion Echo taking on the respective challengers at Below Zero, Alex Andrews and Tiana Petrova-Hammond.” Sir Figgles: “Spoiler alert: easy win for the champs, and I mean both tonight and at the pay-per-view.” Amy Maynard: “Do you think they can coexist tonight? Neither of them seems too eager to team up.” Sir Figgles: “They don’t even have to, they only just have to fight the match without bumping heads and they will be fine.” Alex and Pierce converged in the center of the ring as the match commenced. As soon as the bell sounded though, Manning immediately went to his corner and made the tag to Echo, an action that was unanimously ill received. From Alex, of course, who was looking forward to giving the fans a preview of what they’ll see at Below Zero. From the fans who booed loudly what they deemed as an act of cowardice, and from his partner as well. Either way, Echo was in and briefly circled around Alex before locking up with a collar and elbow tie up. As they jockeyed for position Andrews was able to catch the Aussie with a side headlock. Before she could really sink it in, Echo backed up against the ropes and then pushed the former MENTV champion off of her. Alex returned off the ropes and it was like running straight into a brick wall, bumping into the Jr Heavyweight champion’s shoulder block and getting knocked down on her rear. Lady Limitless quickly got back to her feet with a kip up with a movement so quick that she caught Echo unprepared. Before the Australian could do anything, Andrews dropkicked the taste out of her mouth. Echo got back to her feet and was met with a second drop kick that looked equally as devastating. Once again she pulled herself up and saw Alex charging at her with a full head of steam. This time Echo was quick to catch the contender to the RIot championship with a hip toss, followed by a wicked knee to the face as Andrews started getting up. Amy Maynard: “Echo looks unstoppable. A deadly combination of wrestling ability and ruthlessness.” Sir Figgles: “And you honestly think a goody two-shoes like Tiana can be the one to end her reign of terror?” Amy Maynard: “In fairness, the recent events seem to have motivated the Russian-American and not necessarily in a good way. The brutal assault at Echo back on night two of On The Rise, the coldness in her eyes and the mean streak she seems to have found… She’s very different from the young girl who graduated from the Academy back in May.” Tiana was nervously pacing the apron, dying to get in the ring. And when Alex finally managed to make the tag, the young Russian-American quickly entered the ring, finding an outlet to all that pent-up aggression. She came at Echo with a whirlwind of punches and kicks, a full-frontal assault that caught the Junior Heavyweight champion off guard, forcing her on the backfoot. There seemed to be no logic in those strikes but to do the maximum damage in the shortest amount of time, a far cry from Tiana’s usually methodic offense. But it was definitely working, leaving Echo no room to breathe or to counterattack. The referee at some point had to physically drag Tiana away when she refused to stop kicking Echo in the corner. The Australian quickly pulled herself together and stood up. She seemed still a bit dazed, though at the same time she had a smug smile on her face. Amy Maynard: “Is she… smiling? That’s pretty twisted, why would she smile when Tiana just beat the crap out of her?” Sir Figgles: “Either she’s gone full mental, or this is what she always wanted to see. Tiana saying a big fuck you to everything Yulia taught her and embracing her dark side.” Echo actually taunted the Russian-American to come at her again, which Tiana gladly did. This time though, there was no surprise effect the former Gold Star could use to her advantage, finding Echo ready to receive her and fighting back punch for punch. They traded stiff martial arts strikes for a good minute, and the Aussie was the one getting the slight advantage in the end, getting just enough separation to blast Tiana with a bicycle knee strike. Echo quickly picked her up and lifted her in a stalling vertical suplex, showing off her strength as she started prancing around the ring, carrying the opponent upside down. Pierce made the tag and that complacent smile on her face quickly turned into a frown. Manning kneeled down and pointed at his knee, asking Echo to drop the opponent onto it. She did that, but you could tell she wasn’t happy, yet again. Manning hooked the leg for the cover but Petrova-Hammond kicked out in two. Amy Maynard: “I think Pierce is really pushing his luck with his partner tonight with these sneaky tags.” Sir Figgles: “He’s the Riot champion, who better than him to call the shots?” That fire Tiana showed against Echo seemed to have faded now, though she still gave the Riot champion a run for his money. But her style was closer to the one she accustomed us to, the famous Fight Lab style. She left the initiative to the Riot champion and relied more on counterattacks, While this worked well for her early on, once Manning managed to catch her with a right hook, she found herself exposed to the Riot champion’s offense. He went down hard on her, alternating stiff strikes to moves like the hangman’s neckbreaker. The near falls began stacking up for the Riot champion, and on a couple of occasions Alex had to step in to save her partner. The fans, spurred by Andrews, let their presence felt, cheering loudly for Tiana who seemed to feed off their energy. She began fighting back, breaking free of the champion’s grasp with a series of quick punches to the ribs. Once getting some separation, she spun around hitting him with a spinning back fist followed by a spinning back kick, sending Pierce on the floor. The tag was made, and a huge roar welcomed Alex back in the ring. Amy Maynard: “Here we go, Alex finally has her chance to get her hands on Pierce..” As soon as he realized that Tiana made the tag, Manning stood up to his feet and tried to reach his corner but Echo refused to get the tag, dropping off the apron. Manning looked at her in shock, yelling to come back. But soon he had a much bigger problem to deal with as Alex pulled him into a ripcord lariat. It didn’t go much better to Echo who was blindsided by a raging Tiana who tackled her down and began slamming her head onto the floor. The referee was keeping an eye on the action in the ring and one at the two competitors on the outside who were trying to murder each other. Luckily things ended quickly as Andrews was able to catch Manning with her Hella Rough, pinning him for the one, two three. Not even the sound of the bell stopped the brawl on the outside. The intervention of the security team was needed to separate the two rivals, and they had to literally drag Tiana away as she kept kicking the air trying to break free from their grasp, while Andrews was left alone in the ring celebrating. She eyed the Riot championship on the shoulder of Pierce as he was heading backstage after the defeat. She pointed at him and made the unequivocal gesture of the title around her waist. WINNER: Alex Andrews & Tiana Petrova-Hammond BY: Pinfall (Hella Rough), 18:39 |
