MILLENNIUM XIX: A Saving Grace
Live from the Enterprise Arena in Chicago, IL
Wednesday, November 7, 2018
No pyros this time. Millennium XIX comes to life in a completely dark and awkwardly silent Enterprise Arena, a stark contrast with the colorful and noisy introduction we were used to. Then the LED stagebar striplights turn on, revealing a full-size orchestra standing on the left side of the stage. The large metallic M hanging above the stage is nowhere to be seen, just like any other Millennium reference. Except for the name of the company, appearing now on the giant tron. The orchestra start playing “The Ecstasy Of Gold” by Ennio Morricone and immediately after a red carpet is rolled down the ramp.
Ryen Riekert is the first to come out, leading the handful of men of Grace van Beek’s persona security, dressed in their classic black uniform. And there she is, the new owner of Millennium walking amongst them, haughty and proud as always in her stride. Wearing a white embellished, sheer-bottom one-shoulder gown, in stark contrast with the dark attire of her personal security, and her hair pulled in a tight top bun with a diamond tiara resting on her head, she makes her way to the ring, followed a few step behind by the new General Manager of Millennium, Gianluigi Vaccaro.
Two things accompany her during this slow procession. The booing of the crowd, only partially covered by the control room wisely turning up the volume of the music blasting out of the loudspeakers, and golden confetti exploding out of cannons placed at the sides of the ramp. Eventually the small group reaches the ring, with Ryen climbing the steps and sitting on the middle rope, lifting the top one to allow the Diamond Princess to step inside without creasing her dress, before entering the ring himself, followed by Gian who hands Grace a microphone. She waits for the Orchestra to finish the piece before raising it to her lips and, not without a smug grin on her face, saying.
Grace van Beek:
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the New Millennium.
“When Legends Rise” by Godsmack blasts through the Arena, overcoming once again the jeers of the fans. The logo on the screen fades in, changing color from green to gold. The camera pans on the pyrotechnics display finally exploding on the stage, before moving around with the usual movement on the sold-out crowd, focusing on some of the handmade signs.
"#RIPCHUCK" "
The show then cuts once again to Grace, who’s waiting for the crowd to calm down before starting to speak once again.
Grace van Beek:
Tonight you are witnessing the dawn of a new era for this company. Mister Matthews is gone, bringing his blatant favoritism, his disputable decisions and his annoying superciliousness with him. And you shall thank me, as well as four brave men who found the courage to stand up and say enough to the injustice that was plaguing Millennium, men who had the ability to see beyond the shining lies he blinded everyone with, men who showed no fear, no doubt when the zero hour eventually came. I expect you to receive them with all the honors heroes of their caliber most definitely deserve. Rise to your feet and welcome Sean Libby, Dane Archer, Kace Matthews and Jason Hawk.
The reaction the four men get when they walk out on the ramp is, obviously, quite the opposite. The four men don’t seem to mind it too much, walking down the ramp with her head held high and a smirk on their face. They finally get inside the ring, standing in front of the owner of Millennium.
Grace van Beek:
Gentlemen, you standing up against mister Matthews was a source of great inspiration for me. It made me feel like I was not the only one perceiving things as they truly were. That I was in the right to believe that Millennium deserved better than a man so stuck in the past to see that he was depriving his company of its future, so busy pursuing his personal agenda that he lost sight on what was best for Millennium, so eager to please his family members and closest friend that he failed to see the discontest growing and spreading amongst his roster.
A pause, as she looks behind their shoulders, glancing at the crowd.
Grace van Beek:
I will not repeat his mistakes.
The statement, received negatively by the fans, is welcomed by the small group with nods of approval and a light applause. Only exception, Dane Archer who stands stoic with his massive arms crossed over his chest.
Grace van Beek:
Nonetheless, I feel like you deserve more than a praise. Somehow, I have to compensate the unconditioned trust you put in me, even when I stacked the odds to the highest. Although, in all fairness, history told us that I never did gamble on your careers, since when that dare was sealed, I already gained control of this company. But regardless, you did not turn your back on me, you did not shy away from the fight, you did not broke the oath. And that is something I can respect.
She paces back and forth staring down at the four men.
Grace van Beek:
Therefore, I decided to reward you. Each and everyone of you has a granted title opportunity. Who goes for which title, that will be something I am going to reveal you privately. Make the best out of my generosity.
Grace takes a few steps forward, forcing the small group of men to split and give her once again the center of the scene.
Grace van Beek:
On the other hand, no actions will be taken against those who fought for mister Matthews. Even if you were in fallacy, I can still appreciate the loyalty you have shown. Unlike the man you decided to follow, who would not have hesitated to fire me or anyone of the men behind me just for voicing our dissent, if only he had the chance, I don’t hold grudge. And I am confident you will see very soon that this change was needed, and it is for the best.
She raises one finger of her right hand.
Grace van Beek:
I do believe although, that a separate discourse needs to be done for who betrayed me.
Mister Kane, you had two weeks to reconsider where you stood, but you choose to wait, and wait, revealing the decision you made during the match. I believe it is safe to assume that you were expecting to turn the tides, to become the savior of Millennium. Such a shame for you that the role was already taken.
By me.
A sudden round of boos rise from the fans.
Grace van Beek:
I did not expect you to understand it, or even to accept it. But you have to deal with it, and I am sure you will learn to like it.
She turns back, glancing at Gian and inviting him to step next to her.
Grace van Beek:
Mister Matthews is gone, and he is not coming back. In his place, I put a man who is equally smart, who knows this business and knows how to make business. A man who will be absolutely impartial, who will not let his decisions be affected by personal favoritisms. Under mister Vaccaro leadership, I am confident this company will thrive and finally reach its full potential that has been denied by Mister Matthews’ lack of vision.
Millennium may have lost its crown jewel, but it gained a strong leader.
For this, and all that will come, you are welcome.
Enjoy the show.
She hands the microphone back to Gian and walks toward the ropes, where Ryen is already waiting for her. As the group heads out, the camera cuts to the next segment.
Everything comes into focus and as it does we are able to see the nerdy Christina Rose sitting down backstage at the Enterprise Arena. Christina has her head down in the dumps as she offers a very drawn out sigh and she begins to speak.
Christina Rose:
Hello everyone it is your favorite cosplayer and gamer girl. I just want to say that usually I have a reason to smile. Usually you would catch me feeling at the very top of the world and despite my shortcomings there wouldn’t be anything to bring me down.
Christina shakes her head with a loud sigh as she looks at the video game controller in her hand and offers a drawn out sigh.
Christina Rose:
There is so much going on, Red Dead Redemption 2 just came out, I haven’t even touched Life Is Strange 2 and of course my favorite video game in the entire world of Mega Mean I haven’t even touched. It’s like I haven’t had any desires. Something just seems to be missing when it comes to me…
Christina sighs again as she looks deeper into the cameras and continues to speak.
Christina Rose:
I feel like I am such a let down in the wrestling industry. I am a let down to my wife as I cheated on her a few weeks ago and I really don’t know where to turn. For 14 years I have dominated at wrestling. I have won numerous awards and I have claimed so many prizes but lately it just seems like I can’t buy a win and I have no idea what’s going to go down when I step into this huge fatal four way match. This could perhaps be my chance to really showcase my abilities and my talents but honestly I haven’t even found a win in this company yet
Christina shakes her head in utter disgust as she continues to share her heart.
Christina Rose:
Ever since I got here I have dropped the ball in every single match and I ran into the freight train that is Selina Metzger. Where do I even turn from here. While she has had some major luck on the roster she really made a name by beating me multiple times, and I am the veteran. I am the woman who has probably been doing this craft longer than anybody else in this company. I need this win more than anybody could realize and I am walking into this match with Catriona Mackenzie, Luna Smith, and Jackson Idol with the intention to win. It’s all or nothing and I am going to do everything I can to use power absorption and get better and better until I pick up that win. So bring it all but it won’t be enough because this Rose refuses to wither away. It’s game time…”
With that Christina smirks as she walks away getting completely ready for her match.
Singles Match
Kitty Owens VS VengenceAs the match started, Owens looked like a lost kitty. The emotion of performing in front of such a big crowd was having the best of her, allowing Vengence to take control in the early going. The New World member’s speed was causing more than a headache to the rookie, who was struggling to find her footing. Ducking under yet another right hand, Vengence bounced back from the ropes with a crossbody, but Kitty kicked out in one. As soon as she got back on her feet, the Swedish caught her on the side of the head with a Roundhouse kick that left the woman staggered. Wasting no time he moved on the apron, using the top rope to propel himself back in the ring with the Springboard Forearm he calls New World Rising. Kitty didn’t fell, but the momentum pushed her back on the ropes, bouncing back right into the Skull Crusher (Codebreaker). He quickly hooked the leg, but it still wasn’t enough to keep the rookie down. Understanding the difficult situation, the fans quickly rallied behind Kitty, who fueled on their energy and rose back to her feet once again. Vengence swung a right hand, but Kitty blocked it and answered with one of his own. The Tennessean started building some momentum with a series of hard chops that lit up the opponent’s chest. She then whipped him against the ropes, tossing him over her head with a back body drop. She quickly picked him up, staying on the attack with a series of quick jabs, completing the sequence with the King Kai Fist. The stiff European Uppercut sent the New World’s Flying Bones down on the mat, with Kitty quickly dropping her leg across his throat with a leg drop, floating into a cover but getting only a count of two. Now perfectly in control, Owens showed the audience part of her arsenal of offensive moves, including a Released German Suplex that sent Vengence all the way across the ring. He slowly stood up, helping himself with the ropes and leaning against the corner, trying to catch his breath. A decision he quickly came to regret when he saw the young girl charging at him at full speed. The impact was inevitable and Vengence fall flat on the mat after being crushed by the corner splash. Kitty wasted no time to wrap her arms around his waist and deadlifted him with a german suplex, this time enough to get her the first win in her Millennium debut. WINNER: Kitty Owens BY: Pinfall (Blue Bomber) Pinfall, 6:42 |
Jared Idol: Kitty Owens is your winner!
Bea Torres: A solid performance by the rookie.
Jared Idol: Aye. Our GM guaranteed that she’s one of the hottest new talents out there.
Bea Torres: So far so good, Kitty! Keep it up
The scene opens to a shot backstage where GM Gianluigi Vaccaro is in the middle of a discussion with Ho Wei Shen in his office. Interestingly, Wei’s client and fiancee Jennifer Yang, the Millennium champion, is absent. Though the conversation seems to be a serious one, the two men remain amicable with each other. The topic at hand sounds like some sort of match being proposed that brings out much enthusiasm from Wei as he leans forward in his chair, smiling from ear to ear.
Ho Wei Shen
Oh Mr Vaccaro, I would be a liar if I said I wasn’t worried. What happened in Miami with Chuck Matthews was unfortunate. I never would’ve guessed! But it did. And that didn’t look too good for Jenni, you understand me? She and Grace never saw eye to eye, imagine what would happen later? But now, you have me convinced that you’re much, much better in this role, and that you have your roster’s true interests at heart, especially your champions. What you have proposed to me is exactly the kind of thing she should be part of. Jenni has come such a long way, and I am sure she will be happy to push Millennium to the forefront of the entire wrestling industry and make history. It will be an honour.
The General Manager nods, looking back at Shen with a light smile.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
I can understand your concerns. But like miss van Beek said earlier, this is a new beginning for Millennium. And the past stays in the past. Her interest now is to see it thrive, Jennifer is no longer a rival in her eyes, and you can assure your client that she will be treated with the respect she earned and deserves.
A small pause.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
I know that Jennifer loves to test herself, and I know she wants to prove everybody that she is the best Millennium has to offer. And, what better way to prove it than facing five top talents at once?
There’s a look of gleeful joy in Wei’s eyes as he shakes his head.
Ho Wei Shen
There’s none, exactly. This is… just perfect, Mr Vaccaro. Jenni has overcome every challenge thrown at her. No matter the circumstances, no matter who stands in her way or tells her she can’t do it, she always comes out on top. I’m proud to tell you in person that as Millennium moves forward into this next era, Jenni will be the champion you can be proud of. And that includes taking on the next best five of this company.
He smirks.
Ho Wei Shen
But you know all of this already, don’t you, Mr Vaccaro? You’ve seen what she’s capable of. You don’t need me to tell you. Facing multiple people at once in a title match like this is nothing new to Jenni. She’s done it many times before. But this match? Let’s make it even better. With something new, something that will take things to the next level. Hmm?
Gian leans back on his chair, joining his hands in front of his mouth.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Now you got my curiosity, Mr Ho. What are you thinking?
Without missing a beat, Wei answers. A knowing smile spreads across his lips.
Ho Wei Shen
Make Jenni the first competitor.
The GM doesn’t even flinch, almost as if Ho’s request doesn’t really surprise me,
Gianluigi Vaccaro
The first, huh? That’s what I call raising the stakes. Are you sure about it? Do you want to talk with your client first?
Wei shakes his head, his smile intact.
Ho Wei Shen
Jenni and I have an agreement whereby such matters are left up to me. I’m here to elevate her career and protect it, and this is exactly what I’m doing. Don’t worry, Mr Vaccaro, I will inform her after this. But I’m sure she will agree to it. So...
His gaze breaks away momentarily as he adjusts the cuff of his right sleeve before looking back at Gian.
Ho Wei Shen
Are you agreeable to this as well, Mr Vaccaro?
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Absolutely.
He promptly replies, as he grabs a copy of the contract from his desk and hands it over to Ho. Wei starts scanning the contract in hand.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Like I was telling you, next week we will have the qualifiers to determine the other four participants in this match. Four Beat The Clock challenges, with the quickest of them to win their match getting the latest available entrance in the main event. This way, nobody can complain about luck being a factor.
Wei looks back up at Gian, an eyebrow raised.
Ho Wei Shen
Four? I thought we were talking about a six-person match. With Jenni, there are only five.
He simply nods, keeping a neutral expression.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
As per miss van Beek request, Jason Hawke is entitled to a title shot. We may not agree, but there’s nothing I can do about it. What can I do, is to give him the chance to prove that he deserves this opportunity.
The two men lock eyes. Wei doesn’t take much to understand what Gian is thinking, as the smile appearing on his face clearly proves.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Next week, Millennium XX, the main event will be Jennifer Yang vs Jason Hawke in a non title match. How does it sound?
For the first time in the conversation, Wei’s smile falters and jaw tenses slightly. He puts down the contract on the desk as he considers the question carefully.
Ho Wei Shen
Wait, Jason Hawk? You’re giving him a spot just like that? He was the same person who brutally attacked Jenni weeks ago. The man is unstable.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Like I said, my hands are tied, Mr Ho. Jason is in the match, whether we like it or not.
He takes a breath. Clearly, he’s not happy with this either, but you have to believe Grace was categorical.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
I understand your concern. If you believe that, due to their history, putting Jason and Jenni in a match one week before the ppv is too much of a risk, we can find a different solution. Although, I’m confident that your client would love the chance of getting some payback…
Hearing this, Wei takes a moment to think. It’s a tricky situation, but not one that would completely stump him. He’s beginning to see the bright side of the matter, an opportunity that he’s sure Jennifer would appreciate. Finally, he nods.
Ho Wei Shen
Very well, if Jason is in this match then so be it. In fact, I welcome it now and I’m sure Jenni would too. Every match is a risk and the one-on-one next week will be no different.
He chuckles lightly.
Ho Wei Shen
Perhaps, I just got a little too worried for a second there. I can’t help it sometimes. But I should know better. Jenni is more than capable of handling herself against Jason.
He gives another firm nod, smiling again now. Gianluigi smiles back.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Then it’s settled. I will talk with Hawke personally, to make sure he doesn’t try anything fancy. Miss van Beek has been extremely clear, this is her way to show gratitude for the events that lead us to this point. But it ends here. If he tries to injure Jennifer, if he tries to mess with her in any way, I will make sure this is his last title opportunity in Millennium.
Reassured by the General Manager’s words, Wei signs the contract on the dotted line. With a satisfied grin, he hands over the contract back to Gian.
Ho Wei Shen
That is perfect, Mr Vaccaro. I’m glad we’re starting off Millennium’s new era on the right foot.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
And I intend to keep it that way.
He stands up, adjusting his jacket and extending his hand toward him.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
It was a pleasure having business with you. Until next time.
Ho Wei Shen
Likewise, Mr Vaccaro.
Wei reciprocates the handshake with confidence before excusing himself from the office. The scene then cuts away.
Fatal 4-Way Match
Luna vs Jackson Idol vs Catriona MacKenzie vs Christina Rose
The second match of the night featured two debuts. Jackson Idol, recently saw competing in Crescent City, and Luna. Completing the quartet, two women who didn’t quite get the momentum they were hoping for since signing with Millennium, Catriona MacKenzie and Christina Rose. The bell rang and the Scottie immediately went at Luna, pushing her back into the corner. The Star Of The Night used the slight size advantage to turn the tables, forcing Cat against the ropes and hitting her with some knee strikes. On the opposite side of the ring, we see Christina and Jackson locking up, each one of them trying to outdo the opponent in a technical contest filled with counters and reversals. Eventually, it was Jackson who broke free of a waist lock with a couple of well aimed right elbows to the jaw, quickly turning and connecting a snap supex. As he stood back up, he found himself face to face with Luna. But before the two debutants could engage, their opponents surprised them and dropped them down with shots to the back of the head. Catriona grabbed Rose by her wrist and sent her against the ropes. When Christina came back she was tossed in the air and violently slammed on the mat with a ring shaking Pop-Up Samoan Drop. Jackson charged at her but got kicked in the stomach for his troubles, lifted and powerbombed on The Blossoming Rose. MacKenzie watched him arching his back in pain with a satisfied grin. Somehow sensing Luna charging at her, Cait spun around and turned her inside out with a vicious discus lariat. Just like that, she was the only one standing, gloating as the fans tributed her a round of applause. It wasn’t easy for the referee to keep track of the action, especially with Luna and Idol trying any trick in the books to get the win in their debut. Luckily for him, Christina was there to put some order, sending Jackson outside the ring with a superkick, while Luna got rid of Catriona with a clothesline over the top rope. The two women met in the middle of the ring, trading blows with Luna putting her Krav Maga expertise in full display. In full control, she set Christina up over the turnbuckle, hitting her with the Dark Side Of Luna (Cheeky Nando kick). Before she could attempt a cover, Jackson Idol came back into the match with a Springboard Forearm Smash. He quickly followed up with a cover, but Catriona made the save, interrupting the count at two and half. After wearing him down with some stiff shots, she carried him over her shoulders, calling for the Beam Me Up Scottie. But before she could complete the maneuver, Christina superkicked her right on the chin, sending her down with what turned out to be a samoan drop on Jackson. Rose climbed to the top rope, measuring the distance ready to take flight with the Mega Buster. Out of nowhere came the Star Of The Night, running up to the top rope and nailing her with the Night Skyfall, a top rope Spanish Fly. Slowly, she dragged herself over Christina, but this time it was Jackson who kept the match alive. Idol connected the FC Cutter on Crystal, but he couldn’t capitalize since Catriona grabbed his arm and turn him around, standing in front of him. Whatever she was going for, we’ll never know since Luna pushed Idol against the Scottie and quickly rolled him up, using the ropes as leverage, and holding him down for the three count. The referee never noticed, and Luna walked out with the win. WINNER: Luna BY: Pinfall (Roll-up), 11:27 |
Jared Idol: And the star of the night shines bright in Chicago tonight.
Bea Torres: SHE CHEATED!
Jared Idol: You know what they say. It ain’t cheating if the ref doesn’t catch you.
Bea Torres: Nah, it’s still cheating…
Jared Idol: Doesn’t change the fact that she won in her debut. Welcome to Chicago, Luna.
There’s a sudden screech and the screen flicks and goes black. At first, it seems like the feed was cut until we hear a giggle. It wasn’t a black screen, it was just complete darkness. And that giggle, oh it was well known by now. It was the giggle of Millenium’s Kawaii Deathmachine, the Singapore Mauler, the Extreme Champion herself, Saki. There’s no light even as she talks, though as time goes on we can see the subtle shape of her in the darkness holding her title.
Saki:
Jason Hawke
Lotta game to talk
But it’s all hot air Mr. Tiny cock
Nickels in a sock leave you bloodied in shock
Gonna talk shit, get hit you stupid fuckin’ git.
Say you’re above my gold, bitch I’m tougher’an you tenfold
You ain’t too good for shit. I got a chart, you rank under it.
Sure enough, as the lights slowly turn on Saki has a whiteboard next to her. On it is a picture of Jason Hawk at the very bottom, and several images above him. It reads, Jason Hawke -> the dirt -> Worms in the dirt -> Saki’s stool -> The roster -> Saki -> Sweet Tarts.
Saki:
First off, fuck you bitch an’ the shit you claim
Singapore mauler is equipped with game
You claim to be a big shot but I’ll fuck your wife
Break a hammer on your face, leave you fucked for life
Step in my world son, don’t need to fright
But claim that arrogant shit an’ a bitch gon’ die tonight
Test me, push the button, I dare you
Because there’s no undo, no safe place for you.
Saki giggled, those bright eyes staring through the screen as she smiled wider than normal people usually do.
BAM!
The lights go off again and flick on...and she’s gone. The lights flickering a little as we cut out.
Singles Match
Sean Libby VS Yona Blake
When this match was announced, it certainly raised some eyebrows. Yona Blake’s career in Millennium never really picked up, an the same could be said for Sean, with people still questioning how did he get in the main event ain the biggest show in Millennium’s history. But with the change in management, they both had an opportunity to prove themselves in front of the Millennium fans in a rematch of sort of their fight back in the Heroes & Cons pre show. Back then, Libby made a quick work out of the She-Wolf, and this time it was no different. The Irishman showed a new found aggression right off the bat, delivering a series of quick kicks that backed Yona in the corner. She attempted a comeback, landing a few right hands before sending Libby against the ropes. Bouncing back, he ducks the clotheslin and hit them again on the opposite side, extending his arm and slamming her down with a Sling Blade. Wasting no time, he bounced on the middle rope and spun in mid air, landing his leg against her throat with a Springboard Legdrop. He then waited for her to rise back to her feet, trying to get some support from the fans. Eventually, when Yona slowly stood up, the Irishman superkicked her into next week with his Libby’s Shot, hooking the leg for a quick, impressive victory. WINNER: Sean Libby BY: Libby's Shot, 5:21 |
Bea Torres: Sean… Won?
Jared Idol: I’m as shocked as you.
Bea Torres: …
Jared Idol: You’re at a loss for word? I can’t believe it… But yes, Sean Libby just beat Yona Blake, and he did it in an impressive fashion. Good job, fella.
We cut backstage to see Gianluigi Vaccaro sat in his office, looking over something on his cell phone. A knock at the door prompts the General Manager to put the phone into the breast pocket of his jacket, and he then gets to his feet, as he calls for the guest to enter the room.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Come in.
The door swings open and Der Übermensch, Selina Metzger, walks in. Gianluigi meets her halfway, extending his right hand towards Selina, who shakes it.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Selina; what can I do for you?
She gives the GM a polite smile, before responding to his question.
Selina Metzger
I’m not going to take up too much of your time. Firstly, I wanted to say thanks to you again, for honoring the decision Chuck Matthews made to allow me to challenge for a championship of my choice.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
There’s no need to thank me. Like I already told you, I think he was right when he said that you have a bright future ahead of you, so I wasn’t going to take something away from you that you’ve earned.
Selina Metzger
I appreciate that.
Selina pauses briefly to take a breath.
Selina Metzger
You also told me to inform you once I had made up my mind about which title I want to challenge for, and while I guess I could’ve just sent you a message to let you know my decision, I thought I would come here and give you the news in person.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
And what have you decided?
Selina Metzger
Well, I’m sure if the rest of the roster were given the opportunity to challenge for any title, the majority of them would choose to go for the Millennium Championship; everyone aspires to be the top champion, right?
There is a slight shrug from Selina, following that rhetorical question.
Selina Metzger
I’m no different. I too aim to be the number one wrestler here in Millennium someday. However, although I do have the utmost confidence in my ability, I’m also realistic enough to know that I’m probably not at that level quite yet.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Okay, so if not the Millennium Championship, then which title have you opted for?
Selina Metzger
The Cloud Gate Championship.
She rests her hands on her hips.
Selina Metzger
I don’t think the Empire Extreme Championship is really my thing. I mean, I know I beat Sephora Eastwick in a no disqualification match, but I would prefer not to have to compete regularly in those type of matches.
Gianluigi nods.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Perfectly understandable.
Selina Metzger
And I know I beat the current Lockdown Champion, Kate Steele, two weeks ago - and if you were to put me in the ring with her again, I would be be confident that I could beat her again - but I’ve chosen to set my sights a bit higher, and to challenge Britty Kane for her title.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Alright, if that’s what you want, then I’ll make it official right now: in two weeks’ time, it’ll be you versus Britty Kane, for the Cloud Gate Championship.
Upon hearing confirmation of her title match, Selina’s smile broadens.
Selina Metzger
Great. Well, I expect you’ve got things you need to do, so I’ll leave you to it, and I think I’ll go and find somewhere to watch the rest of the show - in particular, Britty’s match with Tiffany Tompkins. Thanks again.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
You’re welcome.
The two shakes hand once more, and as Selina then exits the General Manager’s office, the camera cuts away.
Singles Match
D'Angelo Blackwell VS Zooey West-Jaa
All eyes were on Zooey West-Jaa for her anticipated debut. The Thai girl looked in great shape despite a few months out of action, since her last match. Against her, the former [R]evolution Champion D’Angelo Blackwell, in a match with a sense of nostalgia for the former CFO of Revo and current GM of Millennium, Gianluigi Vaccaro. She kept Dlo at bay in the first minutes of the match, digging deep in her Muay Thai background and forcing him on the defensive. D’Angelo backed down to avoid those lethal kicks but he eventually found himself stuck in the corner. Zooey grabbed his arm to whip him to the opposite corner, but he was able to reverse it, sprinting across the ring and jumping at her with a corner dropkick. Immediately picking her up, Dlo started building some offense with a series of forearm and elbow strikes, wheeling in the heavy artillery with a Back Suplex Double Knee Backbreaker. Zooey kicked out in two with authority. Her reaction was immediate, and once again came in the form of a series of kick. Her quickness of execution and precision, arguably without competition in Millennium, once again putting Dlo in a precarious spot. When she swung her long leg and connected to the side of his head with a Chick KIck, the impression was that the EVO Civility Champion was out cold. But there was still gas left in his tank, as he was able to lift a shoulder before the referee’s hand hit the mat for a third time. Still dizzy, he grabbed the ropes to help himself up, defending himself with a kick to the stomach when she got closer. The same scene repeated a few moments later, but this time he followed the kick with a right hand that sent Zooey a few step back, holding her jaw as Dlo bought himself some more time to recuperate. And finally he was back in the match, relying on his speed to stay out of those hard kicks that already did so much damage. Ducking under a Roundhouse kick, he found himself behind her back, perfect position for his series of Rolling German Suplexes. With the opponent still laying on the mat, Blackwell climbed to the top rope and dove with an elbow to her chest, but even that wasn’t enough to keep her down. As the match went forward, D’Angelo was in control until, with a desperation move, Zooey connected a Spinning Heel Kick that sent him back to the ropes. Wasting no time, she charged at him but Dlo ducked and pulled down the top rope, sending her crashing outside the ring. Pumping himself up with the fans cheering for him, he waited for her to stand back up before running in the opposite direction, hitting the ropes and using his body as a projectile with a Suicide DIve. Zooey saw it coming and countered with an European Uppercut that left him hanging over the second rope. She quickly slid back in the ring, gained some speed and connected the Tiger Feint Kick that gave her her first win in Millennium WINNER: Zooey West-Jaa BY: Pinfall (Tiger Feint Kick), 10:31 |
Jared Idol: Zooey for the win!
Bea Torres: Did you see those kicks? DAMN!
Jared Idol: Those legs are weapon of mass destruction, I’m telling you.
Bea Torres: Remind me to stay on her good side, Jared.
Jared Idol: Smart girl.
Kate Steele paces around backstage as she holds her Lockdown Championship proudly in the air. She cracks a very wickedly grin as she glares at the belt before she turns her attention to that of the cameras.
Kate Steele:
Bloody fucking hell I am definitely quite the champion ain’t I?! Every time a stupid wanker comes toe to toe with me I do everything in my power to make them tap out and as long as my matches are contested under Siren Rules that means one must beat me at my own game. They must make me tap out. They have to beat the hell out of me so badly that I can’t go on and that’s not going to happen…
Kate just shakes her head in utter disgust as she continues to pour her heart out to the camera.
Kate Steele:
I really don’t give a shit who finds their way into facing me in the ring, the thought of somebody actually beating me is something that won’t ever happen. With the exception of me facing that meathead Selina on the last show! She got lucky and if she were to ever try me under Siren rules the result would not be the same because I am just that good and I don’t want anybody in this company to forget that fact,
Kate chuckles as she smiles as wide as she possibly can.
Kate Steele:
There is just something about me holding gold. Once I get a hold of something I won’t ever let it go and as far as I am concerned I don’t give a flying fuck if GVB is running the show. The fact is when the two of us wrestled for the Cloud Gate Championship everybody knows I beat her ass. Except I had to deal with some fucking bull shit that didn’t win me the championship but that’s neither here nor there! All I know is that I better get treated fairly and she better respect me for who I am after all I am the best wrestler she has on her roster. I keep things on lockdown, and there won’t be any signs on anybody breaking the lock because I am the only one who holds to key to prying it open. When I am good and ready to move on to better things and beat the hell out of Jennifer Yang that’s when I will drop this belt for something bigger, but for now I rather make my mark known and that’s by being the best champion I can possibly be.
Kate nods her head with an evil grin as she continues to speak.
Kate Steele:
Kace Matthews what is going on you wanker… Are you ready to be in the ring with the Siren?! With the smallest wrestler on the entire roster but also the best pound for pound champion that this company has to offer?! What the fuck are you going to do to me?! What chance do you even have?! Every week I will continue to do what I do best and I don’t care who comes in my way. I always get shit down!
Kate runs her hands through her blonde hair as she smirks in return.
Kate Steele:
So go on tell yourself you are better than Kate… Tell me you have what it takes and that’s when I will take your bloody arm. Brace yourself for you will be SHIPWRECKED KACE!!! This Siren is ready to sing and once that song is played it can only spell your demise!
With that Kate taps her title with a wicked grin on her lips as we go to elsewhere.
Singles Match
Gray Malone VS Sephora Eastwick
The fact that Sephora doesn’t like playing by the rules was well known to the Millennium fans. Combine that with a Gray Malone unleashed and determine to get another shot at Saki and you get an explosive situation that the referee couldn’t possibly handle. The match, if we can call it a match, immediately turned into an hockey brawl, with closed fists flying from both competitors. Any attempt to bring some order, even the simple reminding of the basic rules fell on deaf ears. Anyhow, the fans were loving it. And they loved it even more when Eastwick dodged the spear attempt from the veteran, who was able to stop his momentum inches away from the ropes. The Belle Of The Boulevard charged at him and dropped him outside the ring with a clothesline. The momentum sent her rolling over the top rope as well, and both competitors crushed on the floor. As if nothing happened the fight kept going, way over the ten seconds the referee had to give them before, not without a sigh of relief, calling for the bell. As soon as he realized the match was over, Gray pushed Sephora against the steel post, before starting to search for something under the ring. The bell rang again, and the referee tried his best to convince him to drop the chair and head backstage. But, surprisingly, Malone didn’t listen. He swung the chair to Seph face, but the blonde was quick to duck it. The sound of the impact, steel against steel, echoed in the arena with a sinister reverberation. Obviously this caused him to drop the chair and hold his arm in pain. Seeing the foreign object perfectly placed, Sephora planted him head first on it with a Snap DDT, quickly mounting over him and unloading a series of right punches. Finally, security rushed to the ring and separated the two contestants, leaving the fans wanting more. WINNER: No Contest BY: Double Count Out, 4:02 |
Jared Idol: Well, this was something indeed!
Bea Torres: HA! SEPHY CAN’T BE CONTAINED!
Jared Idol: That seems to be the case, yeah.
Bea Torres: She’s not here to wrestle, she’s here to hurt people. I thought she was pretty clear about it.
Jared Idol: Someone must have forgot to pass the memo to the new General Manager...
The scene opens backstage in a vacant corridor, aside from an alone figure. Tiffany Tompkins, already donning her ring gear (albeit with a pair of headphones in her ears), is seen stretching and warming up. She has a look of determination on her face as she loosens herself up. She stops for a moment to catch her breath. She bends forward, but as she does, she feels a sudden slap across her back. She quickly springs back up, refusing to show the effects of the sting. She doesn't turn around however; instead she senses the presence of the Cloud Gate Champion, Britty Kane, who slips into frame and stands next to Tiffany, emphasizing their size difference.
Britty Kane:
Hey how's it going, Batgirl?
Tiffany almost instantly loses her cool as she pulls the headphones from her ears and turns to face her upcoming opponent.
Tiffany Tompkins:
D-don't you even start...
Britty smiles as she notices Tiffany's face slightly blushing.
Britty Kane:
What? Oh come on Tiff, are you seriously still upset about that? You looked good, girl!
Tiffany though is having none of it.
Tiffany Tompkins:
Just shut up about that please! Now's not the time for that.
Britty Kane:
Oh right. Of course. Getting ready for our match tonight?
Tiffany's embarrassment suddenly turns back to intensity as she stands her ground, standing right up to Britty's...chest...and staring right up to her face.
Tiffany Tompkins:
You sound pretty excited about it. Can't wait to face me again, right? Think I'm gonna be an easy win, right?
Britty just smirks in response.
Britty Kane:
It's never an easy win against you, Tiff. That's why I love facing you. I push myself harder and harder every single time because you are quite good.
She then gently pats the championship belt around her shoulder, much to Tiffany's annoyance.
Britty Kane:
I mean, you didn't tap out at MSG. Your pride won out and I understand that. You said you never want to tap out to me and you didn't. You had nothing to be embarrassed about that night, Tiff. But we all have that white whale we can't capture in this sport from what I've been told.
Tiffany has a brief look of confusion on her face.
Tiffany Tompkins:
Why do you keep comparing yourself to a white whale all the time?
Britty can only sigh hearing that response. She face palms before patting the defensive Tiff on the shoulder.
Britty Kane:
You... you really need to read a little more. But basically, sometimes we have something, or someone, that we cannot get past in life and we spend so much time trying to defeat it. Maybe I'm yours, not sure.
Britty can only shrug as Tiffany's confusion turns into frustration.
Britty Kane:
So, the way I see it, if you beat me tonight, you should get another shot at my championship. Always a firm believer if you beat a champion in a non-title match, you should get a shot.
Tiffany shrugs Britty's hand off her shoulder in response.
Tiffany Tompkins:
So that's it then. You think I can't beat you?
Tiffany is now seething.
Tiffany Tompkins:
You can keep calling yourself a whale or whatever that shit is you're saying, but if that's what you think then you're so mistaken. I don't need you feeling sorry for me because I know I can beat you. I know for a fact I can beat you. And after I do tonight, you can stop looking down on me...
Britty Kane:
It's hard not to look down on you when I'm nearly nine inches taller.
She smirks, fully aware that she's gotten under her rival's skin yet again.
Britty Kane:
You've tried so hard to pin me here, in Empire, everywhere we've met, and yet I've won this title right here. I was also going to win a title before you in Empire before that all went to hell. I'm not saying this to be mean, Tiff, but I might just be a better wrestler than you.
The scene is now more tense than ever as the two stare each other down. It seems like a brawl is about to break out, until Tiffany finally breaks the silence.
Tiffany Tompkins:
You're not better than me.
Britty Kane:
Then stop talking about it and actually...
Britty kneels just a little bit to make eye contact and says something completely out of the normal for her.
Britty Kane:
Fucking. Do. It.
Tiffany looks about ready to snap, but at the last minute, she shows some restraint, mustering one last demand.
Tiffany Tompkins:
Get out. Now.
Britty Kane:
With pleasure. Don't want to see you having a heart attack from your rage before our match tonight.
Britty keeps that wicked smirk on her face and exits the scene, leaving Tiffany alone with a bright red face, not of embarrassment, but of anger. With her rival out of the picture, Tiffany vents by viciously kicking one of the steel crates on the side of the corridor, putting a dent in it. As Tiffany storms away, the camera closes up on the dent as the scene fades out.
Singles Match
Tiffany Tompkins VS Britty Kane
The memory of the great battle these two young girls had in MSG a few weeks ago was still fresh in the mind of the Millennium fans. This time, the Cloud Gate Championship wasn’t on the line, but the determination and intensity in Tiffany’s eyes was the same as that night. And just like that night, the striking ability of the eighteen years old gave her the early advantage as the match began. Britty tried to turn the tide reversing an irish whip and sending Tiff running against the ropes, waiting for her with a clothesline. Tompkins ducked under it and kept running to the opposite side of the ring, bouncing once again against the ropes and coming back with a single leg dropkick. Kane was down and Tiffany quickly hooked her leg, barely getting a two count. Nonetheless, she couldn’t pass on the chance to put some extra psychological pressure by showing her with her thumb and index how close she went to win the match. The Cloud Gate champion shook her head as she stood back up, holding her jaw still sore after the impact. Britty was probably wondering if it was a good idea provoking the Five Foot Death Kick the way she did before their match. Her words clearly got under her skin, but instead of undermining her confidence, they seemed to have fueled Tiff’s aggression. Such velocity behind each and every kick, and every single one of them hitting its target, whether it was the ribs or the head, like the Spinning Heel Kick she surprised everyone with, something rarely seen in her vast arsenal that proved to be extremely effective; once again the younger Kane was down. Tiffany went for another cover hooking the leg with the awareness that her there was no way her opponent could kick out of this. And Britty didn’t. She didn’t need to, all she had to do was to reach the ropes with her left foot, and the referee stopped the count. The disappointment in Tiffany’s eyes was clear for everyone to see. She cursed herself for not dragging her opponent away from the ropes before going for the pinfall, realizing she just wasted a huge opportunity. Brittany took the chance to roll out of the ring and recover. And this is where the course of the match turned in her favor. The Cloud Gate Champion tripped her leg, causing Tiff to fall head first against the steps. The referee started to count, reaching four before Tompkins finally started to slow climbing back to her feet. Brittany was there, waiting for her and lifting her for a suplex on the floor. As the count hit seven, she finally rolled the opponent under the bottom rope, not before driving her face first on the apron for good measure. Reaching her back inside the ring, the champion went for a cover, but somehow Tiffany still kicked out. Her tenacity was getting the fans behind her, and you got to believe this was what pushed her to dig deep and break free from the Butterfly Lock the champ had her trapped in after a butterfly suplex. But Britt was in full control now, the superior technique and submission game starting to wear Tompkins down. After delighting the fans with a beautiful Springboard Moonsault, instead of going for the cover, she locked her in the Pandalock Beta right in the middle of the ring. It was the critical point of the match, With nowhere to go, Tiff seemed on the verge to tap out in more than one occasion, but, stoic as ever, she always refused to. And each time, The pressure applied by the champ grew, pushing her closer and closer to give up. The referee went down to check on her, but she shook her head once again. As the seconds slowly passed by, it felt like once again Tiffany was going to pass out rather than give up. Every single fan in the arena was holding their breath, watching Tiffany slowly fading away. And then, with the last burst of energy, she found the strength to throw Britty off balance and roll her on her shoulders into a pinning predicament. Hard to tell what was more shocking, if the fact that she reversed the Panda Lock Beta or that the Champ kicked out just in the nick of time. But the match was still going and the crowd was going nuts. Determined not to let her catch any breath, Britty started tying Tiff up for the Panda Lock Omega, but once again ended up caught in a roll up. Another close call, but she survived once again. On a sudden adrenaline rush, the Android 18 sprung back to her feet before the opponent could even seat and… Death Kick! The move connected, but it took out a lot from Tiffany as well. Slowly, she dragged her body toward the opponent, who was lying flat on her back. Eventually she managed to rest her arm over her chest, and the referee started to count, echoed by the sold out crowd. One! Two! Thre…. Kane raised her shoulder, breaking the count. Both wrestlers were laying on the mat, breathing heavily and trying to recover, with the fans chanting both her names. The referee started the double count, and he got up to five when finally they started moving. The cheers of the sold out crowd suddenly turned into deafening boos as the imposing figure of Dane Archer stepped over the barricade and headed to the ring. The referee yelled him to back off, but of course the giant didn’t listen to him. Instead, he climbed on the apron and stepped inside the ring, pushing away the referee who was standing on his way, leaving him no choice but to call for the bell and stop the match resulting in a no contest. Tiffany was now back on her feet. Showing no fear whatsoever, she got on Dane’s face, “politely” asking him what the hell he was doing. In all response, the mercenary grabbed her and literally threw her outside the ring. He then turned his focus on Britty, who was slowly getting on her knees. Nobody was shocked to see what happened next, a scene the Millennium fans witnessed oh so many times. Archer lifted Britty over his head and violently powerbombed her all the way down, knocking the air out of her lungs. As if nothing happened, he then left her lying in the middle of the ring and headed to the timekeeper table, picking up her Cloud Gate championship and staring at it. He even raised it in the air, almost mocking the fans that were jeering him for his actions before tossing the title back in the ring next to the motionless champion and leaving the same way he came in, among the fans WINNER: No Contest BY: Dane Archer interference, 14:28 |
Bea Torres: THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Jared Idol: Sweet Jesus… My poor ears.
Bea Torres: I’M MAD! HE JUST RUINED A GREAT MATCH!
Jared Idol: Aye. Tiffany and Britty once again pulled out an instant classic, until Dane got involved.
Bea Torres: I have one question for you, Mr Archer. Why?
Jared Idol: My two cents? This was him staking his claim on the Cloud Gate Championship. Remember what the boss lady said earlier?
Bea Torres: Ugh… I can’t stand her.
Brains by Tremonti plays over the speakers. The crowd erupt as they knew Chuck Matthews was going to take this defeat laying down. A surge of cheers waves back and forth around the arena as the crowd almost literally blows the roof of the arena in pure excitement in anticipation of what the smartest man in wrestling has to say in response to Grace van Beek’s announcements earlier during the show. But then...
“Hold me close, don’t let go, watch me!”
Instantly the crowd goes silent. Like a strong wind blew away their excitement and replaced it with fear. Even drunken fans shut up. The blinking lights that so disturbingly carried His Dying Majesty down to the ring during his attack on Drakkon return as a reminder how they didn’t listen. The man himself steps out onto the stage wearing the same crown and face piece. He carries the staff with the broken wings with him. He looks out the wasteland of people starring back at him and points to the slogan printed on his t-shirt. “FUCK. YOU. ALL.” It reads in bold red letters. It has almost become trademark by now. Jason makes his way down to the ring and enters as his footsteps ring throughout the arena as nothing else disturbs the silence.
Jason Hawk:
Shhh... shhh... shhh... No seriously, shut up, I can’t hear myself think. No, really, please shut up, they can hear you all the way in the back. No one in the back is able to get any work done because of what is happening here. Honest people can’t get their job done properly because you are all being so loud. I can’t formulate proper thoughts by the absolute deafening sound of your silence. So please... shhh
Jason pauses to let the silence sink in.
Jason Hawk:
You can feel it, can’t you? Feel it your bones as the shake and prepare to shatter themselves. This ash cold silence that conquers your will and your excitement. I remember a time where you were lively. So full of life. You could barely contain the excitement that went flowing through your veins. But that was then. A long time ago. Now you been defeated. Defeated by the silence that I have cursed upon you.
Jason stops to let anyone who dares prove him wrong. No one does.
Jason Hawk:
I warned you and you didn’t listen. You never do and now you pay the price. I told you how great I was. I told you to show me the respect I’ve earned so long ago. I asked for nothing more than I deserved. But apparently it was too much to ask. You didn’t believe me even though I showed just how fantastic I am. I am the key to the extraordinary but where was your affection? How come you didn’t praise and love as you once did?
Jason looks around for an answer he knows won’t come.
Jason Hawk:
In the end it doesn’t matter. Because those who matter have already taken notice just like they always have. Chuck Matthews knew it from the moment I stepped foot in this company. He pushed me straight to the top and rightly so! Only a week and he put in a title match against whatever her name was. I can’t remember. Because no one else was worthy. No one else was good enough. No one else carried the star power that I carry. There is only one of me, there was never anyone before me and there will never come anyone after me. I am the first and the only ever Jason Hawk and the fact that you didn’t recognize that when you had the opportunity is an absolute travesty! I could cry but the crowd is stupid so why bother?
Jason looks around again for a reaction of any kind. Nothing. Not even a whimper or a whisper among the Millennium faithful. He smiles and continues.
Jason Hawk:
But all is not bleak and black. For once again those who matter have recognized my pure talent. The lovely Grace van Beek is a smart woman. She knows what she is doing. You all heard her. I am the first man in to challenge Jennifer Yang. A walk in the park for a man of my talents. I’ve seen what she’s all about. And I am not impressed. I’ll even let you in on a little secret. That lump in your throat and the rock in your stomach that you all feel as soon as I step out. She feels it too. Ho Wei Shen feels it. In fact, everyone feels it. That alone should be enough to just reward me the Millennium title, but sure I’ll play by the rules just this once and beat her fair and clean for you all to see. And let me start that journey tonight as I expose Saki for the fraud she is. Watch as I expose her for a sorry excuse of a champion, let alone a wrestler. She isn’t fit to clean my boots and I’ll prove it as I demolish her and gladly injure her. And if her career ends because of the punishment that I inflict upon her tonight, then so be it. I won’t lose any sleep over it. The best part of it all? You all get, no, you have to watch it! Sit there in silence and watch on in fear as I end a career if I see it fit.
Jason finally removes the face piece as he makes his final point with an intense stare in his eyes.
Jason Hawk:
And if any of just as much as flinch during the match I am going to kill her right in the middle of this ring. You doubted me before, I dare you to do it again.
The cameras cut backstage to a chaotic scene, security are still trying to detain Sephora after her match earlier in the night. Despite eventually going backstage of her own volition, Sephora now seems to be demanding to speak to Grace or Gian directly, screaming at the security who refuse to let her through in her enraged state, she swings for one, landing a hard left before taking on two more, eventually, after several guards manage to pin her against the wall, she relents once again.
Sephora Eastwick:
Fine... FINE.... I’ll calm down.
She pushes at the wow guard closest to her with an angry growl.
Sephora Eastwick:
Get the fuck off me!
Finally the guards step back and Sephora takes a minute to straighten her clothing before she thrusts a finger into the face of one of the guards.
Sephora Eastwick:
You tell the rich bitch and hr stuffy suit that I am fucking DONE playing by their shitty rules, I’m not a fucking wrestler and I wasn’t hired to be one, Chuck hired me to fuck people up, so either they give me the matches i need to express myself, or there’s going to be a lot more faces splattered against ring posts in this company’s future.
She turns as if to leave before swinging for one of the guards once more and all hell breaks lose as she tries to fight her way through the several large men who look to restrain her once more.
Lockdown Championship
Steele's Submission
Steele's Submission
Kate Steele (c) VS Kace Matthews
Both men were standing in the middle of the ring and the referee was about to give order to ring the bell when Antonio Vivaldi’s “La Tempesta Di Mare” blared from the loudspeakers and Gianluigi Vaccaro appeared on the stage. He apologized for the interruption and announced that, as per Grace van Beek’s decision, this match was now going to be a Lockdown Championship match. The news was welcomed with a mixed reaction from the fans, part of them happy to see the stakes raising, part of them not particularly fond of the new owner pulling strings. Inside the ring Kate looked shocked as the referee took the title and raised it in the air, putting it officially on the line. As for Kace, the smirk on his face was worth a thousand words. He already knew he was going to have his have his granted title shot tonight. And he quickly charged at Kate, clubbing her with a forearm to the back of her head as she was still yelling at Gian who was now leaving, without paying much attention to her protest. The bell rang in the exact same moment when Steele hit the mat. Kace quickly rolled her on her back and went for the cover, looking dumbfounded at the referee when he didn’t get in position for the count. The official reminded him that the only way to win the match and the title is via submission. Nonchalantly, Matthews transitioned into a headlock, telling the referee to ask her if she was going to tap.Steele rose back to her feet, slipping free from the headlock and pushing Kace against the ropes. He came back with a shoulder block, knocking her off her feet once again. With the opponent down, Kace went for a Running Shooting Star Press. He then tried to keep her grounded, but he was clearly out of his element. Steele had an easy game to break free from his submission and turn that into a Boston Crab of her own. Kace crawled toward the ropes, but before he could reach them, she dragged him back in the middle of the ring, and locked him in a STF. You could read the pain on his face as he struggled not to tap out, trying desperately to find break free. And somehow he did, rolling on his back and forcing her with her shoulders on the mat. Kate’s grip loosened enough for him to wiggle out of it and, with the help of the ropes, getting back to his feet to a much safer standing position. The champion quickly went back on the attack, grabbing his arm and twisting it behind his back. Matthews used the free arm to force his way out with a couple of elbow shots that staggered Kate. After a quick glance back to check her positioning, Kace connected with a Pele Kick that sent her rolling out of the ring. The Steele was quickly back to her feet, just in time to see her opponent flying over the top rope with a Somersault Plancha. Landing the high risk move was a huge boost of confidence for Matthews, who was now taking full advantage of the environment ignoring the referee’s requests to come back in the ring. Instead, he climbed to the apron, waiting for her to get back on her feet before jumping with a missile dropkick that sent the Lockdown Champion against the timekeeper table, scattering everything that was on it, including the championship on the floor. Eventually, Kace tossed her back in the ring and followed in, sitting on her back and applying a Camel Clutch. Once again, his lack of familiarity with the move didn’t allow him to keep it for too long, and Kate was able to escape. Around the ten minutes mark, Kace went for a superkick but the champ was able to dodge it at the very last second. Instead of hitting her, Matthews’s foot met the referee’s head and knocked him out. While Chuck’s cousin checked on the official, Kate used that time to recover. And that’s when her eyes fell on her title, laying on the floor right outside the ring. She quickly slid out and grabbed it, using it as a weapon to knock Kace out cold as soon as he turned to her. Noticing that the referee was starting to stir, Kate hid her tracks tossing the championship out of his sight. She then was quick to lock the unconscious challenger in her triangle choke called Siren’s Song. Unaware of what just happened and still dizzy from the kick, the referee checked on Kace, noticing that he passed out and quickly called for the bell. WINNER: Kate Steele (Still Champion) BY: Siren Song, 10:39 |
Jared Idol: And still your Lockdown Champion, Kate Steele!
Bea Torres: Grace and Kace tried to set her up, but the Siren still retained.
Jared Idol: I doubt that’s how things went. As far as we know, Steele and miss van Beek never had any issues.
Bea Torres: Whatever.. I don’t like how she won, but Kace didn’t do anything to deserve this opportunity… Except for being a snake and turning against his own family.
Jared Idol: You really can’t over the fact that Grace van Beek beat Chuck at his own game, do you?
Bea Torres: Nope, never!
The camera cuts to Gian’s office, finding the General Manager of Millennium sitting on a couch and enjoying the show. The quiet of his night is suddenly interrupted when the door opens, and Kace Matthews steps in, still dressed in his wrestling gear. Gian turns off the volume of the tv, looking up at his unexpected guest.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Kace. How can I help you?
He asks, standing up and walking back to his desk, inviting Kace to take a sit on one of the two chairs in front of it. Kace sits down in the chair with a sigh before kicking his feet up into Gian’s desk.
Kace Matthews:
We gotta talk. I was promised this opportunity and I got screwed out of it! Kate cheated! You saw it! Everyone saw it! She didn’t make me pass out by submission, she knocked me out with the championship!
Gian nods, staring at the young man in front of him.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
You’re right, everyone saw that… Except for the only person that mattered, the referee. I’m sorry Kace, but there’s nothing I can do about it.
Kace slaps the desk and stands up, clearly he’s upset.
Kace Matthews:
THAT’S A BUNCH OF MALARKEY! MAKE A REMATCH OR ELSE YOU’LL BE HEARING FROM GRACE!!
A moment of silence follows his words. Then, in a calm tone of voice, the General Manager speaks once again.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Are you done?
After the initial shock, Kace seems about to reply, but Gian cuts him short.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Miss van Beek was extremely clear. As a token of her gratitude, you were granted a title shot. One title shot.
He raises his index. Kace pulls out his phone and starts to dial a number on it.
Kace Matthews:
Fine! I’ll just call Grace right now!!
Kace puts the phone up to his ear and waits for an answer before someone respond on the other end.
Kace Matthews:
Grace! It’s Kace! Gian don’t give me another title shot even though I was cheated out of it! Do something about this.
When Kace gets a response, he cringes.
Kace Matthews:
Huh!? What do you mean this is the phone number to Panda Express!? Ryen Riekert gave me this number and assured me it was Grace’s! So damn it, put Grace on the phone!
Kace waits for a moment before he has an offended look on his face.
Kace Matthews:
Whaaat!! They hung up!!! What the heck!?
Gian shakes his head, grabbing his phone from the pocket and tapping on the screen a couple of times.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
If you really want, I can call her. You’re aware of how much she despises being bothered for the little things, right?
In the meantime, the call is made; on the other side of the line a phone is ringing. Gian hands his cell to Kace. Kace’s eyes widen as he backs away.
Kace Matthews:
Listen, I think the best course of action is that we should assume that she wants me to get a rematch and you should just book it. Okay? Thanks!
Gian ends the call and put the phone back in his pocket.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I’m sorry, but it’s not going to happen. I can agree with you, what happened out there was a shame and you have the right to be upset. You’re a talented young man, tonight you almost beat the Lockdown Champion and the only reason why you’re not walking out with the title around your waist is because she found a way to exploit a situation to her advantage.
He leans back on his chair, looking up at Kace.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
But I’m not giving you a rematch, that’s not how I operate. And I’m sure that’s not how Miss van Beek wants me to run the company. After all, isn’t that exactly one of the thing she hated the most about your cousin?
He’s making a good point, and Kace can’t help but nod.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Keep up the good work, and I’m sure that next time we’re having this conversation, my answer will be different. I firmly believe that title shots are earned, not given…
And that’s when the door of his office opens once again. This time, it’s the Star Of The Night who walks in. Her debut gone well. Still dressed in the dark blue ring gear to debut, but her hair was attended to between her match and now to be perfectly in place. As she takes a glance at Kace, she holds off mentioning him as one of her sisters rivals. Instead she turns to Gianluigi and strikes a confident pose with a hand on her right hip.
Luna:
Title shots are earned and did I not beat three people at once?
She awaits Gian to answer. As he's about to speak she continues.
Luna:
Of course you agree. I'm the shining star of the night here in Millennium and I need some gold to reflect my bright future on you.
She pushes her right shoulder out towards Gian.
Luna:
And you, I guess.
Giving a half gesture to Kace.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Good evening Luna, and congratulations on your win tonight.
He says, hiding behind a courtesy smile a slight irritation for the second interruption in the span of a few minutes.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
You’re most definitely one of the most promising talents in the business, and I mean it. I wouldn’t have signed you if I didn’t think you’re destined to a bright future. But…
He invites her to take a seat.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Don’t you believe it’s a bit early to make demands?
Kace Matthews:
Yeah…
A quick glance from both Gianluigi and Luna make him reconsider his decision to add something to the matter.
Luna:
I don't believe so. I don't believe that there should be any detour or scenic route to the title I'm going to hold and defend. I just came off my big debut win, I defeated more people in my match than anyone here is going to defeat.
She does a small glance to Kace with his singles match.
Luna:
And my opponents weren't slobs! I took on some reputable people and showed them who's the best. And the best deserve to be recognised by a title…
She gives Gian a simple raise of her eyebrow and turn of her cheek with a meek, mildly friendly smile to end her point. Gian takes a long moment to think, his glance shifting back and forth from Luna to Kace and then back again to the blonde girl. Sure, she took a shortcut to win but her debut was impressive nonetheless. Kace, on the other hand, found himself on the short end after a great performance, and his complaint has some solid basis,
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Like I said, I’m not giving out title shots just because you come here and ask. But being quite the opportunist myself, I’m all for putting you in conditions to earn yourself what you really want.
Next week, Kace Matthews versus Luna. The winner challenges Kate Steele for the Lockdown Championship at the Pay-Per-View.
He leans back on his chair, waiting for their reactions.
Luna:
Lucky you, you get to be in the ring with the Star of the Night.
Luna says as she turns to Kace, confidently smirking.
Luna:
Don't blink during that either, Gian. You don't want to miss my win.
With that said, Luna walks out. Kace can’t find anything better to do than to mock her on her way out, before turning and meeting Gian’s serious face.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Anything else I can help you with, Kace?
The young Matthews shakes his head, standing up and greeting Gian with a firm handshake, thanking him. As he's about to leave the office, the General Manager's phone rings, but he waits until the door closes before picking up.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Tobie…
He smiles, hearing the voice of his girlfriend.
Gianluigi Vaccaro
Yes, I did call you… No, nothing important. Just one of the guys who wanted me to call miss van Beek.. As if I actually dared to disturb her with such little things…
He quickly glances at the camera, motioning to cut to the next segment. And so it does.
Singles Match
Saki VS Jason Hawk
Headliner of the night was the match between the Empire Extreme Championship and Jason Hawk. Even though the title was not on the line and the match was contested under regular rules, both wrestlers were well aware of the implications a win tonight could have for them. Hawk walked into this match knowing that, in two weeks time, he’ll be facing Jennifer Yang and four other competitors in a 6 men match with the Millennium Championship on the line. But he also realized that, should he fail to get the most coveted prize in the company, a win tonight could put him in line for a shot at the Extreme championship sometime down the line. On the other hand, this was a great opportunity for the Kawaii DeathMachine to show everyone that she’s no longer the best hardcore wrestler in Millennium but one of its finest wrestler as well. After the usual initial study phase where both superstars showcased their speed and set an high pace for the match, it was Jason who got the early advantage after dodging a right hand and pushing her in the corner with a dropsault. Wasting no time, he charged with a Yakuza Kick that caught her right on the face. The first pinfall attempt of the match barely got him a two count. Methodically, Hawk kept dismantling the opponent with hard kicks to the ribs that seemed to take the wind out of Saki. She tried a mild reaction, slipping away from a suplex and trying to roll him up, getting just a count of one. They both quickly jumped back to their feet, and Jason immediately grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm, kicking her in the face with his patented ZUUUUUUMA! Once again he went for the cover and, just like before, Saki was able to kick out. Finally the Empire Extreme Champion found a way to get back into the match, making the best out of a slight distraction to stun Jason with a jawbreaker, following up with a kick to the side of the head. Finally able to unleash her fury, the Singapore Mauler stomped the life out of Jason, using her foot to rolling him under the bottom rope and outside the ring once she was satisfied with the damage done. Feeling the effect of all those kicks, Hawke slowly got back to a vertical position, wobbling on his knees. That, at least, until Saki took him down with a suicide dive. The match came back inside the ring, with the Extreme champ now in control. Creative as always, although limited by the impossibility to use foreign objects, Saki showed some new moves that took Jason by surprise. But it was the Farfegnugen that almost gave her the win. The Ripcord into a Headbutt caught His Dying Majesty on the bridge of the nose and knocked him out, just not long enough for Saki to walk out with what would have been a major win. Feeling the win so close, Saki climbed to the top rope and went for a Tornado DDT. A mistake, since this was something Jason was ready for. He was able to resist her momentum and use that and his size advantage to land her on her feet, right in front of him. From there, he nailed her head first with a brainbuster. The positioning was perfect, and Hawk made the best out of it. He climbed to the top rope and signaled the fans that the match was over. A Black Clouds Over Chicago later, the bell rang and the referee raised his hands in victory. WINNER: Jason Hawke BY: Black Clouds Over Chicago, 11:51 |
Bea Torres: NOOOO SAKI!
Jared Idol: She did good, but Jason Hawke was the better man tonight.
Bea Torres: Meh. He got lucky.
Jared Idol: You can’t be serious. You’re talking about one of the premiere competitors in Millennium.
Bea Torres: I don’t like him, ok? He doesn’t deserve a title shot, he would never have gotten it if it wasn’t for Grace!
Jared Idol: Perks of being smart and side with the winning time I guess.
Thank god the wall was there. Christopher Kane, already in his gear, leans against the wall and still had some bandages on his face from the hell he went through at the second Pro Wrestling NEO show where part of a DJ Kool album was inserted into his head. He wasn’t sure which was worse, that or the light tube getting smashed in his face. Christopher shakes his head and sits down to keep some of his energy for the tag match later tonight. He tilts his head back and wonders when Melissa Reeves would get here. He relishes the chance to team with her and wouldn’t let this pass him by regardless of how he felt.
A few seconds pass before Melissa enters the room. She, too, is dressed for battle. She hands Chris a bottled water, icy cold, and unfolds a chair to sit opposite him.
Melissa Reeves:
How you feeling?
He nearly rips the cap off of the bottle and doesn’t drink it, rather, pours it over his head and face. Christopher shakes the water off.
Christopher Kane:
Oh I’m alright really. No concussion after getting checked yet again. They tested me every hour since I got here they’re that worried about it.
He waves it off.
Christopher Kane:
How are you feeling, babe? I may have gotten part of a DJ Kool record in my head, but you’ve been traveling a lot.
Mel shrugs and opens her own bottle, taking a few sips.
Melissa Reeves:
Yeah, yeah I have. But I got a couple of days at home at least, so it could have been a lot worse. I feel ready to go, though I admit tonight’s match has some mixed feelings for me.
She sighs and looks down.
Melissa Reeves:
I love getting to team with you, just wish it wasn’t against Rori. But I’m a professional, so I’ll treat it like any other match...just afterward, win or lose, I’ll get to still give her a hug I suppose.
Christopher, who looks to be on the verge of falling out of his chair, tries to smile. He is clearly still messed up from the blood loss from his match last week.
Christopher Kane:
Oh, yeah, gotta hug Rori. Your wrestle mom. That’s pretty cool you had someone like that. Someone to take you in like a girl scout den mom, only with a lot more violence. But you know something?
He shakes his head loose again.
Christopher Kane:
Why are there two of you in here?
She moves forward and kneels, cupping the side of his head in her hand.
Melissa Reeves:
You sure you passed those concussion tests? Jeez…
Reeves gives him a quick kiss to the forehead.
Melissa Reeves:
Just...let me do the heavy lifting. I’ve beaten Rori once before and I’ve seen Vivi plenty enough up close to know her ways too.
Christopher Kane:
Look, Melemma…
He snickers at his own dumb joke.
Christopher Kane:
A tag team match with someone is like a relationship. You gotta trust that person you’re teaming with and stick with ‘em regardless. So, you don’t have to do the heavy lifting cuz Aurora and Vivi aren’t that heavy.
She gives a quick giggle, but the look of concern on her face isn’t shifting.
Melissa Reeves:
Let’s just get through this and get you home, okay?
He nods his head and stands up before slumping back onto the wall.
Christopher Kane:
There’s no place like home. Nor is there no place like punch that super bitch Vivi in the face. Like what a raging bitch she is. What is her goddamn problem?
Christopher opens the door and begins to charge out.
Christopher Kane:
I’M GONNA PUNCH THEM IN THE GODDAMN FACE LET’S GO!
Mel pivots, still on her knees, and watches him go.
Melissa Reeves:
Oh, Christ…
She quickly stands to chase after him, leaving the camera shot behind.
Tag Team Match
Aurora & Vivi Robichaud VS Melissa Reeves & Christopher Kane
And it was finally Main Event time. The atmosphere was electric as four of the best Millennium has to offer were standing in the same ring for this huge tag team match. On one side, the dangerous duo of Aurora and Vivienne Robichaud. On the other, the couple formed by Melissa Reeves and her boyfriend Christopher Kane. And it was this last one who started the match against Vivi, in a sort of rematch of their previous encounter back at Heroes and Cons. Despite being medically cleared to compete by the Millennium staff, Chris was far from being in his best shape.Slower than the usual in his movements, it was a child’s play for his opponent to get the advantage in the early going, the still visible scratches and bruises on his body, memories from the brutal match he had been through six days ago in NEO became clear targets for The High Priestess’ ruthless strikes. Soon enough, he found himself writhing in pain on the mat, courtesy of The Reminder, a vicious Clothesline she learned from her mentor Chris Brooks. She went for a cover, but Christopher wasn’t giving up just yet. She then wrapped his legs up in an Inverted Indian Deathlock in the middle of the ring, frustrating his hopes of reaching his tag partner and inflicting further damage to his knee. Without any rush, Vivienne started crawling to her corner, tagging her partner in. A round of cheers welcomed Rori as she leaped over the top rope and entered the ring. Her first action was dropping her elbow to the back of CK’s head, while he was still trapped in Vivi’s submission. Aurora glanced to the opposite side of the ring where Melissa Reeves was watching the action with a rightfully concerned look on her face. The two women’s eyes met when Aurora picked up the already battered Christopher. It’s no secret that there’s mutual respect between Rori and Mel, they have been rivals, tag partners and, most importantly, they are friends. But not tonight. Between the bells, there’s no room for that kind of feelings, they both know it. And to make it clear, the Queen Of The Crossroads dropped Kane on his head with one of her characteristic DDTs while staring in her friends eyes, floating into a pin predicament in one gracious movement. Once again, Christopher kicked out. Aurora remained in full control, methodically dismantling CK with heavy shots targeting his ribs and head. Once more, she dragged him to her corner, showing great chemistry with Vivi when, after the tag, she went for a backbreaker, holding him on her extended knee while the Voodoo Queen leaped from the top rope with a Legdrop. But still, it wasn’t enough to keep the young man down. Christopher finally showed some reaction when he slipped out of a suplex attempt and quickly grabbed her by the shoulders, driving her on his knees with a backstabber. This is the opening he was waiting for, and the fans rallied behind him as he crawled to his corner, where Mel was eager to finally get into the ring. But Vivienne had different plans for him. Quickly back on her feet, she leaped over Chris and drove his face on the canvas with her Creole Surprise. To make things even worse for the young man, he landed on the same spot on his head where a piece of DJ Kool’s “Let me clear my throat” record was stuck a few nights ago, reopening the wound. For some odd reason, the sight of his own blood triggered something in CK. Not only he kicked out with authority from the pinfall attempt, but he was quickly back on his feet, hitting his opponent with lefts and rights, punches and kicks. The High Priestess was taken aback from this sudden reaction, trying to protect herself from the flurry of blows. She was able to catch his leg, but Kane was now gone full berserk and nothing was going to stop him. He stunned her with an Enziguri kick, quickly following up with an half and half suplex. Instead of going for the tag, as one would expect, he climbed to the corner and dropped his knee on Vivi. The New York Rain connected, but Chris started favoring his knee after the impact. Both competitors were down, the fans cheering loudly for them both as they started crawling to their corners. A huge pop saluted Melissa Reeves when the tag was finally made. The Aussie ignored Vivi, running straight to the opposite side of the ring knocking Aurora off the apron with a dropkick. A wise move, since a moment later with her last energy the High Priestess leaped toward her corner, finding nobody home. Reeves picked up where her boyfriend left, dropping her knee on the grounded opponent. The former Vengeance and Liberty Pro champion was on fire tonight, staying on the attack and leaving her opponent no room to breath. She sent Vivi for a run against the ropes, connecting a Scoop Slam when she bounced back and hooking the leg for another two count. The magnitude of the opponent lead her to pull an old trick from her bag. Setting Vivi up with an Exploder Suplex, Reeves went on the top rope and flew with her Death From Above. The picture perfect Shooting Star Press found nothing but Robichaud’s knees, giving the High Priestess an opening to reach her corner. That was Melissa’s plan as well, holding her ribs with a grimace of pain after the bad landing. But a quick glance at her partner, bloodied and barely standing on his feet made her change her mind. She pulled up back on her feet, finding herself standing face to face with Aurora. The fans were loving the fight the two friends were bringing tonight. Aurora was fresh, and she easily gained the upper hand, showcasing some of her DDTs. But Mel’s fighting spirit allowed her to turn the momentum once again, connecting with a huge Floatover DDT of her own. She then called for the Reaver Slam, a move that Rori knew oh so well and was easily able to counter, slipping away. Capitalizing on the occasion, she closed the match with the Ghostly Kiss DDT. WINNERS: Aurora & Vivi Robichaud BY: Pinfall (Aurora, Ghostly Kiss DDT), 15:28 |
Jared Idol: What a match, Bea!
Bea Torres: Incredible performance by all athletes, but in the end Aurora nailed the win for her team.
Jared Idol: Aye. But you gotta give Christopher Kane credit, here.
Bea Torres: The injuries suffered last week in NEO definitely played a key factor tonight.
Inside the ring, Aurora and Vivi are celebrating their victory. Behind them, Christopher is checking on Mel, who's way more worried about how he feels rather than her own conditions. They help each other up and walk in front of their opponents, congratulating them for the win. Without hesitation, Aurora and Vivi shake their hands showing great sportsmanship. The fans are loving it, cheering loudly. “La Tempesta Di Mare” starts playing once again, and Gianluigi steps once again on the stage with a microphone in his hand. He's applauding the four wrestlers, Visibly pleased by their performance and, even more, by the respect shown after the match.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Ladies, Gentleman, congratulations. Tonight you represented perfectly what Millennium is all about. The highest level of competition, determination, passion, sportsmanship, respect. And, why not?
He looks now at Christopher Kane.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
A healthy dose of recklessness, all for these fans.
A huge round of applause follows his words.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I came out here tonight to personally thank you, and announce that the four of you will be competing next week in qualifying matches for a spot in the main event of our next PPV. Aurora, Vivienne… Your opponents will be announced in the next days. As for Melissa and Christopher…
The excited smile on his face disappears, fading to a look of resignation.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Miss van Beek personally requested that the two of you would fight against each other for your spot. Thank you, and good night.
After dropping the news, Gian leaves the stage, accompanied in his way out by the boos of the fans. Not much to him, blameless messenger, but to the Diamond Princess, who decided to punish Christopher’s betrayal by forcing him to face his girlfriend. Inside the ring, Vivi and Aurora stare at their opponents, who simply look at each other. Melissa nods, almost as if she wants to convince CK that everything will be alright. The camera cut to the announcer’s table as the group leaves the ring.
Bea Torres: THIS IS SO UNFAIR!
Jared Idol: Aye. But there’s no need to yell, Bea!
Bea Torres: HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT? SO MUCH FOR NOT PUNISHING ANYONE!
Jared Idol: In all fairness, she did say that Chris…
All the lights in the Arena suddenly turn off in the same moment. A weird message appears on the tron.
When the lights come back, Jared and Bea are staring at each other, confused on what they just saw. And the same can be said for the fans, completely silent.
Jared Idol: What the…
Once again, the Enterprise Arena plunges into darkness, cutting the audio feed. Soon after, the video ends up the same way, abruptly ending the show
