Riot in Colorado
Live from Denver Coliseum in Denver, CO
Sunday, November 21st, 2021
Starting off the show here in Colorado we find ourselves looking at Clyde Eldon Jr in the ring with a microphone. But before he can speak the crowd starts to chant his name showing him big appreciation. Having finally stood up to Olly at On The Rise along with getting his biggest win of his career against former champion, Tiff he seemed finally on track for bigger and better things. For the first time seeming to be heading in the right direction.
Clyde Eldon Jr:
Hello Denver! Appreciate all this. I have to admit this has only made the best week of my life even better...I mean I got a win over Tiff, an amazing competitor. I get this reaction. But best of all? I got to rip Olly’s tag team title out of his stupid little hands!
Clyde says this to a thunderous applause, few people having as much disdain from the crowd as Olly right now.
Clyde Eldon Jr:
The only reason he was ever in that position was because I got hurt. And now? He’ll fall back into being irrelevant. Because what I want is to get my family back. My sister is doing well in the Academy. And I want to win those belts like we were supposed to, with my mom and I!
This doesn’t get the same reaction the fans turning to boos when he mentions his desire to reunite with his mother. He nods his head understanding the hate but then before he can speak his mother’s voice can be heard. As out from the back she comes with a microphone, wearing a green dress.
Karen Eldon:
You want to reunite after what you did? After you cost me my tag team title?! You didn’t just cost Olly that spot, you cost me!
Karen yells down at Clyde who goes quiet, though he may have stood up to Olly he clearly wasn’t ready to do the same with his mother.
Karen Eldon:
You realize we were breaking records right? That we were this close to standing alone at the top! You realize that right!?
Karen enters the ring while scolding her son, Clyde slowly raises the mic to his mouth, seeming way less confident than before.
Clyde Eldon Jr:
I get that mom, but Olly didn’t deserve that. That was our goal! That was our dream. We wanted to break those records together, we wanted to beat all the teams. Olly only got that spot cause I was hurt, I beat Tiff now. I am back! The Eldon Family is back right!?
Clyde says this as though he is trying to get the crowd excited, they are not going to be happy with that result at all. Looking at her son Karen shakes her head.
Karen Eldon:
You did beat Tiff...And that is all things we wanted to do…
Seeming to be getting swayed by the love of her son, Karen lets out a sigh and leans in for a hug. The two embracing draws more boos from the crowd as they separate Clyde seems to be wiping a tear or two away from his eyes. Karen steps away as a glare returns to her face.
Karen Eldon:
But Tiff is a loser...She has always been one and will always be. Beating her means nothing! You have lost every single week, for the past how many months Clyde!? We never won the belts together because we came up short! Who is to say you won’t get hurt again, who is to say you are even good enough!
The crowd is shocked as much as Clyde who seems frozen in place as Karen’s voice only turns into more and more anger.
Karen Eldon:
Olly and I...ARE WINNERS! Had you not done what you did we would have won again! We are looking to win championships and tournaments all over. And you think I will forgive you for costing me what is mine? You are my son, you are supposed to do what is best for me! And instead you cost me my match? The Eldon Family isn’t back, it’s over. K2O is still very much alive. I won’t forgive you for what you did but you can either apologize to Olly and I RIGHT NOW! Or I will never forgive you…
Karen lowers her microphone waiting for an answer but Clyde, too frozen in shock, stands there quietly. Giving him a few more seconds as boos reign over her Karen shakes her head and throws the microphone out of anger, as she exits the ring. Leaving Clyde to stand there having gone from being on cloud nine to abandoned by his own mother.
Singles Match
Marcus Ali Jr. VS Morag BeanWith Morag already in the ring, the fans were waiting for Marcus Ali to make his entrance. Amy noted that there were no "Repent" signs waiting for the leader of the Bad Boyz, clear indication that the extra security requested by Marcus worked. "Playing With Fire" by Plan B ft. Labrinth blared out of the PA system but nobody came out. The referee waited alittle longer but nothing happened, leaving him no choice bu to call this one and award the win to Morag. WINNER: Morag Bean BY: Forfeit, 0:00 |
Ahead of his debut match, up next, Valentine is shown talking with his manager, Evie, backstage. The second Evie spots the camera, their discussion ends and she turns to address it. Behind her, he simply folds his arms.
Evie:
So here we are, Denver.
The hometown mention gets a moderate cheer. She’s unfazed.
Evie:
The debut of Valentine in MWE, and he’s facing...what was it again?
She acts as though she’s forgotten, before clicking her fingers.
Evie:
Ah yes, Kate Steele. Kate, Kate, Kate...can I call you Katie? I’m going to. Katie, darling, where is your fire for this match? There’s been all of nothing. Not that I blame you, I would pretend I didn’t have to face Valentine either, were I in your shoes.
The young woman scoffs.
Evie:
Not to worry, fortunately some of us are actual professionals. So ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, I welcome you to this upcoming contest: as we see the newcomer, Valentine, taking on the mute known as Katie Steele! Wow, isn’t it something special?
Valentine grunts slightly. He’s unimpressed.
Evie:
I’m sure you can’t wait. I know I can’t, and V is so excited he might accidentally smile. We’re not eager for a good fight, though, nor for a gripping contest. What we all know, what even Kate herself knows, is that Valentine is going to march out there and wipe the floor with this glorified statue. I do so hope she isn’t hurt too severely in the process, but accidents can happen.
Evie shrugs.
Evie:
Oh well, at least she has her band to fall back on, right?
She sneers, before turning back to Valentine. With a nod, he agrees, understanding that look. They walk away together, leaving the camera behind.
Singles Match
Kate Steele VS ValentineDebut match for the newest signee, the 6’8’’ monster known as Valentine. Accompanied to the ring by his manager Evie, the mysterious man stared down at his opponent who looked rightfully intimidated by the much bigger man, Nonetheless, as soon as the bell sounded, she charged at Valentine, delivering a running forearm to his face. He didn’t seem affected by it, standing still and inviting Steele to give it another try. She ran to the ropes to get more momentum behind her strike and hit him again, still to no avail. She went for a third attempt, running right into a big boot from Valentine. He reached down with his hand, grabbing her by the neck and lifting her straight in the air, shoving her into the corner. On the outside Evie highlighted his show of strength with an applause, praising her client who was now throwing hard chops to the opponent’s chest. He fired her in the opposite corner, charging right away to squash her as soon as she hit the turnbuckle. But Kate grabbed onto the ropes and hoisted herself up with a headstand, pushing herself back in the ring after Valentine hit the turnbuckle chest first. She waited until he turned around and hit him with a dropkick to the face, pushing him back into the corner. She climbed to the second rope and began to rain down punches to his face. One, two, three, four… She didn’t even get halfway to the ten before Valentine lifted her high in the air and powerbombed her in the middle of the ring with such violence that even the referee looked shocked when Steele kicked out from it. That was the first and last time he tried to make the pin. For the following minute, he simply brutalized Kate, hitting her with hard blows and power moves in a brutal display of dominance. Even the boos that rained down heavily on him when it became clear he could’ve won the match already at this point dimmed down, the fans watching in silence what was starting to look like the execution of the English woman. As often happens though, the excess of confidence led to a mistake. Steele freed herself from a half nelson with a stomp to his foot followed by a hard elbow to the jaw. Finally creating some separation as The Ravager stumbled back, she rose to the occasion and kicked him in the face with a Pele kick. Not even that was enough to knock Valentine down, but it sent him further back, leaving him stunned. The fans were starting to get behind the punk-rocker who went for a single knee facebreaker, finally taking the behemoth down. She rushed and made the cover, but Valentine kicked out before the two. She tried to keep her momentum going but Valentine blocked the tornado ddt and slammed her into the mat. He went back to his antics, but this time he actually decided he had had enough and ended the match with his Desolation v2 (Pumphandle Piledriver), obtaining his first, impressive win in MWE pretty much without breaking a sweat. WINNER: Valentine BY: Pinfall (Desolation v2), 7:06 |
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page is sitting in a chair in the living room of her Hamptons, New York estate. She takes her sunglasses off. She sets her sunglasses on the table sitting just to her left.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page:
To say that On the Rise didn’t go as I would have liked would be a grave understatement. I am not sitting here at the new MWE Intercontinental Champion and somehow that crazed lunatic survived Clyde Sutter. Now all of my many haters think they got me exactly where they want me but all of you couldn’t be more wrong. So enjoy this little moment but I will once again rise from the ashes that each of you would prefer I stayed until the end of time. You morons should no better that I can’t and I won’t be stopped because I will get everything I want. Not only because it is owed to me but because I am too damn good not to have everything I want. Whether what I want is given to me or I have to take it by force I will get what I want.
Tiffany leans forward.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page:
Of course my ultimate priority is to sit atop of MWE as the true Queen B around here but to get there I will make sure that psychopath James Edwards is out of action for a very long time. Because this thing between you and I James has gone on for way too long. Way back to when our paths crossed back in Oath and I knew then when I first saw you that your smug, unhinged, hypocritical, self righteousness just oozed out of your pores. At the end of the day though it will not only be that obsessive wack job, James, who will bend his knee to me but each and everyone of you will bow to my greatness because that is the proper order of life.
Singles Match
Christina Zdunich VS Alan EnvyOn The Rise wasn’t all that great for Alan Envy who came up short in the triple threat match won by Siobhan Mahoney. Truth being told, the last couple of months have seen the Lonestar’s career spiraling, and the Texan was in dire need of a win tonight. His opponent was in a similar situation, needing to get that W to show management that she still has it after not even being booked at the last PPV. The Blossoming Rose raced at Envy with a Missile Front Dropkick, hitting him on the sternum and sending him back hard into the corner. Caught off guard, Alan reacted quickly, roaring out of the corner and blasting her with a devastating running high knee. Envy bent forward and grabbed a handful of her hair along with her left arm. He pulled her up and launched her through the middle ropes to the outside. The preacher exited the ring, waiting on the apron until the dazed opponent stood up and jumped onto her with a double axe handle. Exploiting the ten count, he maximized the damage done to Zdunich by slamming her head on the steel post and powerbombing her onto the apron. A dominant performance from Envy in the early moments, a one-way match he thought he had in the bag, making a lazy cover after bringing the fight back in the ring. Christina barely kicked out of it, finding herself once again at Alan’s mercy. Her break came when he lifted her for his patented gourdbuster and she managed to slip away, landing behind his back and quickly dropping him on the canvas with a sitout rear mat slam. Hilton went for her Smell The Roses (handspring standing moonsault) right into a cover. Envy kicked out in two and rolled toward the ropes, using them to pull himself up. Crystal charged at him, Alan bent forward and sent her flying outside the ring with a back body drop. After the hard landing, Crystal barely managed to beat the count, getting back in the ring only at nine. Alan picked her up and whipped her in the corner with such force that the impact alone took Christina’s breath away. Envy took a moment to pontificate to the masses, spreading the word of God. Despite his best intention, the Denver fans didn’t seem too keen on the Good News, and replied with loud boos. He waved them off and charged at Crystal who, thanks to this impromptu sermon, had time to recover and counter the running clothesline with a boot to the face. Alan stumbled back after the kick, The Blossoming Rose lifted herself to the top rope and, wasting no time, connected a missile dropkick to knock the former Tag Team champion down. Rather than going for a pin, she tried to wear him further down with a series of stomps to the head, ending this sequence with a knee drop. Pulling Alan up, she then went for an irish whip. The Lonestar countered it and it was Zdunich who hit the ropes, bouncing back right in Alan’s arms. Envy tried to slam her into the mat but she pulled out the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and planted him on his head with a tilt-a-whirl ddt. Rushing into the cover, she couldn’t believe it when Alan kicked out in two. Feeling the favorable moment, she climbed to the top rope, waiting for him to get up to hit her Power Absorption. Alan had that scouted and he dove to the ropes, shaking the top one and causing her to lose balance and fall inside the ring. He then locked his arm around her head and flipped her over into a seated position with a snapmare. Before she could get comfortable, Alan delivered a stinging kick to her spine, eliciting a groan of pain from Christina. He planted the knee on her spine and locked his hands around her head in a painful chin lock. He let her go, leaving her seated in the middle of the ring licking her wounds while he hit the ropes and clubbed her with a sliding lariat. She survived it and kicked out in two, but she couldn’t do the same a moment later when the Lonestar locked her in his patented submission called Paying Dues, leaving her no choice but to tap out. WINNER: Alan Envy BY: Submission (Paying Dues), 9:35 |
We head to the locker room where the people in there tend to define the mood of the whole place. Right now it seems to be quite the tense place as we just see Seth Iser alone in the place sitting on the bench with his back to the lockers and a towel over his neck. A few drops of sweat trinkle down his face as he’s finishing putting on that infamous knee brace with the gleam and everything. He’s opted for a pair of black tights with blue trim and the golden WV pattern. He even stretches out the leg to make sure everything is good before gesturing to the camera man.
Seth Iser:
Kids take this business way too personally sometimes. Joey LeClair beat me as I’m still working my way back into shape. But I’m not rushing into a rematch yet. Not until he tries to prove himself against the champion. You let emotions get the best of you in decision making and rush yourself headfirst into making one bad decision. Instead of thinking things through...go back in there angry and make another bad one and compound the error you previously made. Then once you do that...you get something hanging over your head and you can’t escape it. You know how some crowd pleasers are merely just slaves to the court of public opinion?
He pauses for a moment as he just lets that part hang, a little bit of hostility in his voice mentioning that last portion.
Seth Iser:
Sometimes...people are slaves to their own emotions. One half of Nightfall Rising, Donovan Keane, is a perfect example of this. He rushes into confrontations with his anger being a guide rather than a tool and ends up getting himself in trouble far more often then he’d want to admit. Hell, look at what happened to him on that damned Pirate Ship. Stupid move...taking the short cut to no pay off like that when he could’ve had a chance to win gold. He takes after his ‘mentor’ in Julian Savell in that regard even if their enslavement to their emotions comes in different forms. No wonder they gravitated toward one another…
The veteran shakes his head coldly as he’s staring at the camera, no sense of real emotion protruding from him. He’s colder than your stepparents with those eyes of his barring down.
Seth Iser:
But congratulations Donovan...you and your partner, the second generation star Jay Gallagher get a main event slot against two thirds of the Triumvirate. Some of that is because of someone’s hatred overriding his reason but...there’s also this looming shadow that is your ‘mentor’ because he decided it’d be a great idea to bring his bodyguards, what a real tough guy...what a real great decision maker…
There’s a roll of the eyes as well as a shake of the head as Seth’s dripping with sarcasm.
Seth Iser:
But if he and his damned bodyguards stay where they’re at and watch Megan and I put these two kids to school about the art of professional wrestling. There won’t be an issue because none of this is personal to me. All making things overly personal does...is put yourself in a situation you end up regretting later one way or another. Everything we do...comes back to us. God knows I’ve had to deal with those consequences a few times...might have to a couple more...but before I wrap up here...Julian, one brief warning if you do decide to take action.
He peers through the camera with that glare but there’s more hostility going through it then normal. He’s stern, serious, and cold.
Seth Iser:
If you make a move toward me and cost us this match...that’s a declaration of war. And war, like revenge...if you really and truly want to prepare for that, you have to dig two graves: one for yourself, and one for the person you’re targeting. And I’ve had to dig myself out of many graves at age forty...still standing. Still doing what I do better than almost anyone in the world even as I’m working myself into shape. And you also end up cheating the people you claimed to mentor. And pulling that crap with no real plan of advancement will leave you to an early grave...and I don’t know if the rest of your family would give a damn if it did.
You see him take a breath to keep all of his composure as he stands up from his bench, the ever impressive six foot five figure looming down on everyone.
Seth Iser:
You can view this as angry or as personal as it gets. Maybe you see revenge and I hope you dug the appropriate amount of graves for both yourself and who you’re targeting if that’s how you truly feel...but for Megan and I? It’s another day in the office. Hell, this is just another match to help get me back in shape. A second workout today. A means to an end to reach the short term goal so I can chase the longer term one. It’s nothing personal...merely business. And if you come after me with nothing but anger and vengeance in your DNA...well...you just put yourself in your own grave, let your partner down, let your mentor down…and you’d have only yourself to blame.
The veteran just shakes his head at that before he just walks away, not feeling anymore talkative then that but his threat to one and point to the other remains.
Singles Match
Luna Smith VS Tiana Petrova-HammondMore than the loss suffered at hands of Alex Andrews, more than the distraught look on her face as she watched Echo breaking Yulia’s leg, what the fans really remember about Tiana from On The Rise was how she brutalized the dominant Junior Heavyweight champion backstage after her match on night two. Perhaps that was why the fans were less supportive when she made her way to the ring, some of them perhaps were thinking that was the first step on a very dangerous road for the Russian-American. The beginning of the match saw a very aggressive Tiana attacking Luna with some particularly stiff striking combination, a radical change of approach from her usual “Fight Lab” style. Luna’s speed allowed the Star Of The Night to dodge most of those and double her over with a knee to the stomach. She followed with two knee strikes and the overdrive neckbreaker to complete her Upgrade. Tiana rolled over to her stomach and pushed herself up, but as she did, Luna lunged forward and connected with a European uppercut that sent the former Gold Star stumbling backwards a few steps before regaining her footing. She then charged towards the former Lockdown champion, getting caught and flipped over with a spanish fly for an early count of two. Damian Carter, once again in Tiana’s corner after leaving it last Sunday to stay with Yulia in the hospital, kept telling her to stay calm and stick to the plan they discussed, but his words seemed to be falling on deaf ears, making it easier for Luna to keep the momentum going and score another near fall with her Starstorm. As the match continued, Tiana’s aggression faded and the Russian-American was able to calm her nerves and find her focus. Ti stayed on the defensive, looking for the right moment to strike. She took the Star Of The Night down with a leg sweep, popping right back up to her feet and starting to stomp at Luna’s shoulder. She put on an authentic clinic, going from submission to submission as she targeted her right arm, clearly looking to weaken the limb for her patented flying armbar. Luna reached the ropes and made it up to her feet, eating a stiff kick to the shoulder. Damian was now applauding Tiana’s actions, how methodically she targeted the arm. Luna was in great difficulty, trying and failing to turn the tides with a jumping knee, Petrova-Hammond dodged it by moving aside and quickly grabbed a hold of Luna’s arm, pulling her to the mat right into a cross armbreaker. The Star Of The Night saved herself by shifting her position and pinning Tiana’s shoulders on the mat for a count of two, forcing her to let go. The match had been going for over ten minutes and both competitors started to feel the obvious fatigue. After a hard hitting exchange, they both were catching a break, soaking in the well deserved cheers of the crowd. The noise suddenly dimmed as some people wearing weird, creepy masks appeared among them seemingly appearing from out of nowhere. The fans sitting next to them obviously stepped back, visibly uncomfortable around those weird individuals. Moving in unison, the masked folks climbed over the barricade and surrounded the ring, all of them staring at Luna. The Star Of The Night yelled at Long to do something, the Warwolf faced the masked people but, being heavily outnumbered, he was soon overwhelmed by them. Inside the ring, Tiana caught Luna with her flying armbar, obtaining a quick submission win as Smith tapped out right away, even though that didn't necessarily get her free from the submission. It took Damian to call her name to get Ti releasing the hold. Realizing what happened, almost as she just woke up from a trance, Tiana apologized to the referee and opponent and left the ring. WINNER: Tiana Petrova-Hammond BY: Submission (Flying Armbar), 13:44 |
Nine van der Hoek slowly approaches Luna, who’s now being held by the masked individuals, taking a microphone from one of them before squatting beside the clearly hurt Star of the Night.
Nine van der Hoek:
...So for all your running, Luna, here you are. Trapped, alone and at my mercy.
The crowd begin to boo at this, but as if they went there at all, Nine continues.
Nine van der Hoek:
I could click these two fingers, right here, and my cultists would rip you apart...limb from limb...but we’ll get to that later. Now...we’ve had our little skirmishes, Luna, but I’ve never really gotten you alone, not truly. You’re going to feel what it’s like to be isolated, Luna. Week after week my cultists are not only going to come for you, but they’re going to come after West. They’re going to break you mentally, they’re going to break you physically, they are going to break you down in every which way until there is nowhere to turn to but the Cult of Nine. My arms will be open, whether you’re strong enough to walk into them and become reborn will be completely up to you.
Nine stands now, motioning to her cultists who quickly isolate Luna’s arm, the same one Tiana had her armbar on. The Frisian Demon reaches out, gripping Luna’s wrist.
Nine van der Hoek:
Angry little Tiana could have snapped this arm in two if she really wanted to...but she showed restraint. Consider this evening your last warning, because I’m not going to show you the same kindness going forward.
Nine van der Hoek drops the microphone to the ground, ordering her cultists to follow her out of the ring before we go elsewhere.
Alex Andrews is seen leaning against a wall in the garage area of the Denver Colosseum, the MWE MENTV Championship belt strapped around her waist. Her gaze seems somewhat distant as she just watches the comings and goings of the garage from a distance. She begins to speak, not turning to the camera, just speaking into the ether.
Alex Andrews :
The Face of Riot. That's what I'm chasing. That's what I've been chasing. Trying to accomplish a task only one man before me has accomplished. It sounds good, doesn't it?
A small smile breaks across Alex's face.
Alex Andrews :
It does. But those are big words. And with them comes a massive amount of pressure. The pressure to succeed. To keep clearing hurdle after hurdle to even be able to cash in this title and place that target directly on Pierce's chest. And then the pressure of calling your shot and making good on it. Yeah. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had a few doubts in my mind during this whole ride, but I've come this far. I've dispatched four challengers, each one taking me to task, but I overcame. And it brings me to where I am now. That one last defense. Can she do it? Can Alex pull it off? Or will she crumble under the pressure of it all. And I know what you're thinking.
Alex finally looks towards the camera, face serious.
Alex Andrews :
And you're right, I'm still pretty new to all of this. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a grizzled veteran. But what I have been through, the blood and sweat and the tears, they've helped build me. I CAN do this. I can win this. Lucie, I know you're coming off a loss at In The Rise, and so you'll be looking for momentum and what better way to swing the pendulum than win a belt, right?
Alex kicks herself off the wall and keeps her gaze on the cars, another smile creeps across her face as she slowly starts walking.
Alex Andrews :
I know all about trying I get some momentum going. Trust me, I get it. But I'm on a mission here. I cannot be stopped. I won't be stopped. Maybe you could say I'm overlooking you, but I'm not, Lucie. I'm trying to build something. Something that'll outlive me, my legacy. It might be a small chunk of something in this small corner, but it's mine and I worked so hard to get there. And so, my path has led me to you and so I gotta go through you, Lucie.
Alex shakes her head.
Alex Andrews :
Besides, so we really want someone like Pierce Manning as The Face of Riot? Do we? Or would you rather have some kind like me? Someone who will uphold what it actually means to compete with honor and pride. Yeah...that's what I thought.
Alex stops as a car pulls up to a spot right in front of her. The smile broadens as the engine shuts down and the person gets out of the car.
Alex Andrews :
Kasey, girl! I didn't think you'd be able to make it.
Kasey Winterborn :
Yeah, well, I did. You know I'm always cheering you on, figured I'd do this one in person.
The two share a brief hug before Alex motions.
Alex Andrews :
I know, and I always appreciate my cheering section. You and Kallie, I don't know where I'd be without y'all.
Kasey pushes Alex in the shoulder as the two keep talking as they walk, but the camera pu!is away, the audio cutting away and then the visual fades as well.
MENTV Championship Match
Alex Andrews © VS Lucie CallawayAlex Andrews entered the ring for her, potentially, last fifteen minutes as MENTV champion. Should she beat Lucie tonight, she’ll be one step closer to achieve her dream and become Riot champion. And speaking of Riot champions, the current one Pierce Manning joined Amy and Figgles at ringside to keep a close look on the woman who could be challenging him in a near future. His presence was making Alex slightly uncomfortable, fearing that Manning could cost her what she has been working so hard for. And Lucie took advantage of the situation, taking Andrews down with a clothesline. Callaway made the first cover of the match, calling the champion to a quick kick out. Lucie pulled Alex up to her feet and went for an irish whip, countered by Alex. The champion went for a kick aimed at Lucie’s face, but the challenger ducked at the last second. Lucie ran underneath the kick and to the other side of the ring coming back and jumping at Alex, taking her down with a headscissor. Lucie didn’t come here to be a statistic, another name on Alex’ list of defenses. She was determined to be the wrench in her plan and she really got very close to achieving it in record time when she connected the Thrillkiller after spiking Alex with a ddt. On commentary, Amy noted how the pressure seemed to be too much for Andrews to handle, which brought a smile on Manning’s face. Callaway continued to dominate the first half of the match and once again came really close to the three with The Killing Joke (straightjacket neckbreaker). Finally the champion found her footing, helped by the unceasing support of her fans. She blocked a punch from Callaway and connected with a right hand to her jaw. Lucie swung her fist once again but Andrews stopped and countered it just like she did before. She landed two more in rapid succession, pushing Lucie back against the ropes. With an Irish whip, she sent her to the opposite side of the ring, catching her on the rebound with her Elysium running bicycle kick. The former Chicago Way Champion rolled out of the ring to prevent getting pinned. Alex grabbed her on the apron and pulled her up, Lucie connected with a high kick to the head that stunned Andrews. Lucie wasted no time and launched herself into the ring with a springboard crossbody but Alex caught her in mid air and powerslammed her on the canvas, obtaining a two count. As Lucie was getting up to her feet, the champion went for the Brain Death, dodged at the last moment by Callaway who quickly rolled her on her back, almost getting the win and the title with the schoolboy pin. The final moments of the match kept the fans on the edge of their seat as the match could’ve really gone either way. Lucie almost got Alex with the SOS but the champion was able to push her away and immediately went for another Elysium but missed the target. Kick to the stomach and Nine Crimes (snapmare driver on the knee) by Callaway who then went high risk with the Hell Upside Down, landing hard on the canvas after Andrews rolled out of the way. Quickly back on her feet, the MENTV champion went for a second Brain Death and this time her step up axe kick didn’t miss. The Denver fans counted along with the referee, erupting in cheers as his land slammed the mat for the third time. WINNER: Alex Andrews (STILL MENTV CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Brain Death), 11:38 |
Aex raised her title in the air one last time before handing it over to the referee. She turned to the commentary table, finding Pierce staring back at her. He didn't say a word, simply raised rhw Riot championship in the air.
Donovan Keane:
Four months…
Cut to the Nightfall Rising locker room where we find the boys getting ready for their match: as Donnie said, it’d be the first since Glory Horizons back in July. The mood seems to be more serious than the usual, both of them looking extremely focused as they prepare to take on the Triumvirate.
Donovan Keane:
That’s how long since Jay and I had a match together and, quite frankly, we probably shouldn’t have wrestled that night either. But it is what it is, we took a chance, lost it, went back on the injured list and worked our asses back into shape.
Jay Gallagher:
That’s right!!!
Jay’s reply was short and sweet as he slapped Donnie on the shoulder.
Jay Gallagher:
And now that we’re back, we got asses to kick and seats to fill because there’s no doubt in my mind that the arenas are going to be packed with Nightfall Rising fans!
Donovan Keane:
Except in Portland because honestly? Fuck that place, man.
The two shared a quick look, remembering their days competing for PPW.
Donovan Keane:
Here in Denver though? No doubts they’ll all be cheering for us, I can already feel it in the air… “Nightfall… Nightfall..”
He mimicked the crowd chanting.
Donovan Keane:
Can you hear it too, Jay?
Jay nods.
Jay Gallagher:
I can! But you want to know how to get an even louder roar out of them? Nuggets jerseys!
Jay hands Donnie a Jamal Murray jersey to put on before putting on a Nikola Jokic jersey on himself.
Jay Gallagher:
This MVP is repping the NBA MVP. I’m ready to go! I’m ready to kick some Triumvirate ass or whatever! Those people with the weird name!
Donovan takes a look at the jersey before shrugging his shoulders and putting it on.
Donovan Keane:
You’re right, nothing wrong with some extra points with the home crowd. Though I doubt anyone would cheer for the old man and the hag.
No love lost between him and Megan, that much was clear.
Donovan Keane:
Speaking of old men, this one’s for you, Julian. I know how much you hate Seth and his preachings nobody gives two shits about. Make yourself comfortable in your seat, grab a beer or two and enjoy seeing Jay and I kicking his wrinkled ass.
Jay nods.
Jay Gallagher:
Exactly! And after tonight is done? Our fans can meet us at the Retrograde bar to celebrate! Drinks will be on Julian of course since he’s rich or whatever!
Keane looks at his partner with the most “WTF” look on his face. Turning back to the camera, he shrugged his shoulders.
Donovan Keane:
Oh well… As long as it’s not on me...

The Triumvirate (Seth Iser & Megan Monroe) VS Nightfall Rising
Amy Maynard: “And here we are, ladies and gentlemen. It’s time for our main event. First and foremost, a warm welcome back to Megan Monroe and Jay Gallagher who finally got over the physical problems that bothered them for the past months.” Sir Figgles: “Come on, let’s be honest, Amy… Nobody really missed Jay. Hell, I’ll be surprised if anyone even noticed it.” Amy Maynard: “That’s not very nice, and not really true either. Judging by the noise the fans are making, they did miss Nightfall Rising.” Sir Figgles: “They’re cheering for the jerseys the two goofs are wearing, not them.” After Nightfall’s entrance, it was The Triumvirate’s turn. Megan and Seth walked out together, ready to take on the duo of Gallagher and Keane. Their focus, especially Seth’s, was quickly interrupted by popcorn flying on the former world champion’s head. Iser turned around, without a doubt in his mind about who would do such an annoying and childish thing. Sitting in the front row with his feet resting on the barricade was Julian Savell. As soon as his old rival turned around, the eldest of the Savells flipped the bird to Seth. Keeping his composure, the grizzled veteran just shook his head and entered the ring. The referee brought the four competitors to the center of the ring, the tension immediately rising especially between Megan and Donovan. The referee tried to keep tempers in check, and his words apparently worked as Donovan turned around leaving his partner to start things off. He had only taken a step toward the ring when Keane blasted Monroe with a superkick to the face, flooring her. Julian on the outside absolutely loved it and made sure everyone knew how he felt, shouting on top of his lungs. Amy Maynard: “I don’t envy the referee in this one. It’s going to be hell for him to keep these four in check. And Julian on the outside is not going to make this any more easy.” The match finally started with Jay and Seth squaring off, locking up with a collar and elbow. Seth easily won this first duel, pushing Gallagher all the way back into a neutral corner. The referee came over and started a five count but Seth let go of Jay only to unleash a series of vicious chops to his chest. Iser grabbed a hold of Gallagher by the wrist and whipped him across the ring into the opposite corner. Getting a running start towards the corner,he went for a running back elbow but Jay moved out of the way causing him to hit the turnbuckle hard. He followed with some hard kicks to the chest before hearing his partner calling his name. Donovan had his foot on the top rope and Jay knew exactly what to do. He dragged Seth toward his partner with the intention of slamming his head on his partner’s foot but their plan backfired as Seth shoved Gallagher onto it before heading to his corner to tag Megan in. Sir Figgles: “Oh boy, this is gonna be good.” Amy Maynard: “Talk about love turned to hate. It’s been two years since these two used to date, and they’ve been at each other’s throat ever since.” Sir Figgles: “Sounds a lot like marriage..” Megan and Donnie wasted no time and began trading stiff strikes. Keane had the power advantage and came out on top from this exchange, but his bicycle kick was dodged by Megan who then moved behind his shoulder, putting him in a waistlock. With a well placed elbow to the jaw, Donovan broke free and traded spots with Megan, shifting behind her and lifting her for a German suplex. She landed hard on her neck, rubbing the area while rolling on her chest and pushing herself up. Keane tried to kick her head off but she managed to duck it. She rolled him up but rather than pinning him, she pushed him through and prompted up to her feet, hitting him with a low dropkick. With Donnie down, Monroe mounted on his chest to hammer away at his face with lefts and rights but he quickly rolled through and drove a sharp elbow to the side of her head. Holding her by the wrist, he pulled her up and whipped her against the ropes, catching her as she bounced off and lifting her in the air. Meg countered whatever he had in mind with a tilt-a-whirl ddt, only getting a count of two out of the following cover thanks to Jay diving in to save his partner. The match continued, the two of them really going all out with those stiff kicks, finally finding an outlet for their hatred. Eventually they ended up knocking each other down, having to crawl their way to the respective corners to tag their partners back in. Amy Maynard: “Well that was something..” Sir Figgles: “Much cheaper than a couple’s therapist, or a divorce lawyer.” Jay looked in great shape after the extended, forced break, holding his own against the former World champion and really giving him a run for his money. His speed and agility put Seth in a rough spot, getting Nightfall close to the win on at least two occasions. Once with a quick cradle and the other, the closest of the two, with a 450 splash after a swift superkick. But eventually Seth found the countermeasure to limit his speed with an old fashioned big boot to the face. He put Jay through his whole arsenal of power moves, really testing the young man’s resilience. And speaking of testing, Julian was really pushing Seth’s patience to the limit with his constant trash talk. Even a veteran like him was having a hard time focusing on the match with Savell constantly bugging him. A couple of times, Iser turned in his direction and “kindly invited” him to shut up, obtaining the exact opposite result. His distraction worked as it allowed Jay to recover and connect a mean enziguri that caused the big man to stumble and fall to one knee. Gallagher followed with a hurricanrana driver, after which he gave the tag to Donnie. He kept the pressure on Seth, but eventually the former World champion caught him with the Pillar Of Truth. Amy Maynard: “Looks like we’re having round two, Figgles.” Sir Figgles: “BLESSED!” The confrontation between the two was just as intense as the first time around, but the focus quickly switched from inside the ring to ringside when Seth finally answered back to Julian’s constant taunts. The camere couldn’t pick up what he said but it must have been really good judging by the “oooohhh” of the fans and by Julian’s reaction. Savell popped to his feet, glaring at his old rival and blasting him with a hard punch! Julian hopped the barricade and jumped on Iser, raining down lefts and rights. The referee finally turned around and was about to call for the DQ when “I’m Bad” by LL Cool J blasted out of the loudspeakers. BROOKFORD walked out, briefcase in hand, looking at the referee as he raised it high in the air and announced that the match was now a three on two tornado handicap match, with Julian joining Nightfall Rising. Amy Maynard: “What the.. Why?” Sir Figgles: “He didn’t exactly hide the fact that he was considering offers to change people’s matches. Julian probably paid him, you heard Jay before. He’s rich or something…” Amy Maynard: “That actually makes sense…” Noting the change, the referee had no choice but to let the match continue. Savell had taken off his shirt and was ready to fight despite the jeans and fancy shoes he was wearing. He and Seth were beating the hell out of each other on the outside while Donnie and Jay double teamed Megan, easily getting the best of her. Iser managed to push Julian hard into the barricade and quickly entered the ring to rescue his partner. But it didn’t last long as Julian was quickly up to his feet. He climbed the turnbuckle behind Seth’s back and blasted him with a diving knee strike. With the numbers game once again in their favour, Jay and Donnie took Megan out with their Nightshot (reverse STO/enziguri). Julian Savell looked at Iser, still recovering from the knee to the back of the head and took a few steps back, kicking him hard on the head with his Golden God punt kick. Donovan invited Julian to make the pin and pick up the win for their team. WINNER: Julian Savell & Nightfall Rising BY: Pinfall (Golden God Kick), 19:27 |
