2x06 TROUBLEMAKERS
The Gates
November 8, 2021
7:06 AM
A crucial week is about to start for the Academy’s students. Next weekend five of them will be competing at the MWE supershow On The Rise in two matches to determine the future of the Gold Star. Not only will the main title be on the line in a triple threat match, but the next contender will also be crowned the night before.
November can be quite cold in Chicago, especially at this time of the day. It was no surprise to see Gian wrapped up in a long coat, wearing a pair of leather gloves as he stood at the entrance gates, chatting with a member of the Academy security. Their amicable conversation came to a sudden end as a muffled up figure was seen approaching the outside gate, carrying a trolley behind them.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
That’s him. Open the gate.
The guard moved back to his post and opened the gate. Gian walked up toward the young man who was now stepping inside the Academy. As he got within the camera range and we got to see his face, it was revealed to be the former student JJ Night.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Welcome back, JJ.
After removing the glove from his right hand, Gian extended his arm to offer JJ a handshake. With his usual infectious smile on his face, JJ extended his arm out and accepted the handshake.
JJ Night:
It’s good to be back, Gian. After all the setbacks with this shoulder…
JJ grabbed his shoulder with his opposite hand and rotated it a bit.
JJ Night:
But I’m good now. That’s why we’re here, right?
The principal nods his head.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Indeed. But please, follow me inside. There’s a few things we have to discuss and it’s much better to do that inside my office rather than freezing out here. The last thing we want is to start your journey back to the ring with a cold.
JJ agrees with Gian and the duo walks toward the entrance door. As they open it, Paul the caretaker is there, greeting Night back with a heartly welcome. He grabs the young man’s baggage and says that he would take it to his room. Gian thanks the employee and motions JJ to follow him to his office. Nothing has changed since last year, the hallway and the Principal’s office are exactly how JJ remembered them. Once in, Gian sits behind his desk while Night takes his place in front of him.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
It’s a real shame what happened in your match against Tiana. Your first match on Riot, you both wanted to make a good impression… Perhaps she put too much pressure, perhaps you didn’t want to start your career there by tapping out. Injuries happen, but I can’t shake this feeling that this one could’ve been avoided.
JJ laughed and shook his head before nervously running his hand through his hair.
JJ Night:
Yeah, I don’t think it could have been. I’m stubborn, Gian, you know that. I wanted to prove something and if I could do it all again?
The young Night let out another laugh.
JJ Night:
I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m not a quitter and that’s why I’m back here. I didn’t let the injury end things for me. But because of it, I do have to get back to basics. I can’t just jump back in. I have to be here. Have to be home.
The principal shook his head, though there was a smile on his lips.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Well, like I told you all when you graduated, there will always be a place for you here, should you need somewhere to get back in shape.
On his desk, Gian had a folder containing the medical reports JJ sent him. He gave them a quick look and then closed the folder, looking at the former student.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I talked with Tobie and the other trainers, they came up with a schedule to get you back to the main roster in what I believe is a reasonable time. Please check with her when you have the chance, you’ll find her in the gym. You still remember where it is, right?
He said with a smile, clearly trying to keep the mood light. JJ stood up and then spun around with a playful confused look on his face.
JJ Night:
Hmm… I think I might have an idea. But I might get lost or something.
JJ shrugged.
JJ Night:
I might end up in the cafeteria and convince the lunch lady to give me some of her famous jello on the side!
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Well, it’s breakfast time and I’m sure Laura will be happy to see you again. Before you go, though…
At those words JJ, who had just reached the door, stopped and turned back to Gian.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I want to remind you that while you won’t be able to compete on our Friday shows, you’re more than welcome to spar and train with the other students. I think it could be beneficial for them and you as well.
JJ furrowed his brow.
JJ Night:
Spar with the students huh? Maybe I’ll rough ‘em up a bit!
JJ said playfully before nodding his head.
JJ Night:
Thanks for all of this though. I’ll make sure it’s beneficial for both of us. If the students need anything from me, I’m happy to help.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I’m glad to hear that. And welcome back, JJ.
Gian sat back in his chair and JJ opened the door, leaving the office heading to the gym, or maybe the cafeteria. He still had his head turned toward Gian as he closed the door behind him and took the first step in the hallway, bumping into a just as distracted Evelyn Carter. The young student had the worst of the collision, falling back on her rear.
Evelyn Carter:
Ouch!
She raised her eyes and saw Night standing in front of her.
Evelyn Carter:
I’m so sorry, I was lost in thought… Wait, why does your face look familiar? Do I know you?
She asked, still sitting on the floor. Before he responded, JJ reached down and grabbed Evelyn by the hand before gently pulling her up onto her feet.
JJ Night:
You might know me. I am kinda famous around here! The Academy’s number one student ever! JJ Night!
He laughed before shaking his head.
JJ Night:
I’m kidding about being number one. But I was part of last year’s class. You might’ve seen me in some videos or photos in class maybe? I’m not sure!
Evelyn Carter:
Or I just binge watched season one before coming here and that’s where I saw you.
She giggled before crouching down to pick up her phone from the floor. After a quick inspection, she let out a sigh of relief.
Evelyn Carter:
Oh thank God the screen didn’t crack. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago after I broke the last one in a very similar way… I really should pay more attention.
After the small digression, she got back on topic, slipping the phone in her back pocket.
Evelyn Carter:
Wait, I remember you got injured, right? Like you broke your arm or something? Is that why you’re here? Kinda like Tiff Rollins did last year?
That was a lot of questions without giving JJ a chance to reply. Typical Vi. Finally she stopped, giving the young man room to talk. JJ couldn’t help but smile as she rambled on.
JJ Night:
I messed up my shoulder. I won’t get into the details of that but yeah, I’m kinda here like Tiff. Just getting back in shape. Training and sparring. So if you need a partner for that or even have questions, feel free to ask.
Evelyn Carter:
That’s very kind of you.
She replied with a smile. Suddenly realizing she hasn’t introduced herself, she quickly resolved that issue.
Evelyn Carter:
My name is Evelyn, Evelyn Carter. But you can call me Vi, everybody here does it anyway.
JJ laughed and shook his head.
JJ Night:
Do you always introduce yourself like James Bond? I’m kidding. It’s nice to meet you, Vi. You can call me JJ or Jay. Whichever you feel like.
A light chuckle escaped Vi's lips.
Evelyn Carter:
Haha, not really, can't say I usually do. It just came out that way.
She cracked another smile then looked past JJ's shoulders.
Evelyn Carter:
Nice to meet you too, JJ. I was going to talk to Gian, I guess I'll see you around then. Oh, and welcome back to the Academy.
JJ thanked her back and went his way, destination the lunch room. Evelyn instead, reached Gian's door and knocked at it. From inside, the principal invited her to get in. She turned around to glance one last time at the new addition to The Academy and entered Gian's office.

We go to a shot of the gym now, where we see Rainer Nordhagen stood around, watching Erika Eldon as she settles herself down on an exercise bench. It seems as if they were in mid-conversation, as Rainer begins to speak.
Rainer Nordhagen:
I mean, honestly though, it’s really not surprising. They know I’m the real star here - Jasper and Bey, they should be thanking me. I let that tubby farmboy keep the Gold Star and I let Bey beat me to get in on our match...just so I can show them both that I’m ten times the wrestler they are.
Erika reaches up, placing her hands on the bench bar, speaking quickly before she begins to lift the weight.
Erika Eldon:
How don’t people see you’re the best in our class! It’s crazy to me...
Rainer shrugs as he steps forward to spot her, his hands hovering around the bar as she begins to rep the weight.
Rainer Nordhagen:
Erika...these people are stupid. Jasper came from a lard farm or whatever. I don’t think the guy even saw one piece of technology until he came here and got on Twitter. In-door plumbing probably seems like wizardry to that guy - it should be shocking, but it isn’t.
Nordhagen shakes his head, becoming a little animated, losing his focus on Erika.
Rainer Nordhagen:
As for Bey, well, we all know who her brother is - so she’s definitely a great wrestler, but so damn stubborn she can’t see that I’m way way wayyyy better than her! It’s so frustrating...and that’s just the two idiots I have to face at the pay-per-view. What about Gabe? That stupid idiot.
Rainer scoffs as he brings him up, at the same time, it’s clear that Erika is struggling with the weight, her arms shaking as she tries to keep it steady - Rainer however is oblivious, moving his hands away from the bar to gesticulate wildly.
Rainer Nordhagen:
Always pulling you to one side, thinking he knows what’s best for you like you’re some idiot for wanting to hang around with a guy like me. Thinking I have some ulterior, secret motive like he’s some savior or some hero or something like that. Trying to act like he’s your dad or something! It’s pathetic! Embarrassing. If I wouldn’t get in trouble for it I’d break his jaw...easy! Ha!
The German-Australian cackles to himself whilst the weight slowly begins to become too much for Erika, who’s now visibly struggling as she’s trapped by the bar.
Rainer Nordhagen:
Heh, maybe the next time we’re training and he’s there I’ll just ‘accidentally’ elbow him in the mouth or something. That’d be pretty funny, actually. Maybe it’d finally teach him to keep that idiot trap of his closed - talking about stuff he knows nothing about! Right Erika?
Erika Eldon:
...help...
She groans meekly. Rainer looks down and his eyes widen, he quickly springs into action, lifting the weight off of Erika, placing it back onto the rack. Erika rubs her chest, making sure she’s alright whilst Rainer takes a quick peek at the plates.
Rainer Nordhagen:
Yeah uh, whoops. Maybe the weight was a little bit too much. It’s fine. We can’t all lift the heavy ones. Let’s just...lower it a little bit.
He grins, beginning to lower the weight. Erika meanwhile smiles at him as she lays on the bench, still somewhat sapped.
Erika Eldon:
My hero!
She says, with a giggle. Rainer nods at that as he puts the last plate away.
Rainer Nordhagen:
Yep, that’s right. Again! What would you do without me? Okay, try it now.
Rainer retakes his place at the head of the bench, guiding her hands back onto the bar as the shot fades.
The Gym

Emma Wakefield and Bobby Bradley are inside of the gym area in the Academy, being in the main event for another show gave Emma that extra push to want to do better, and she had been full of energy as they had gone through all of the training and tips Bobby had to offer. It was at her request that both of them sat down on the floor long enough to be able to relax, Emma with her head facing down as she stretched out her arms in front of her to soothe the sore muscles.
Emma Wakefield:
I keep coming so close, you know….
Her words are muffled as she appears to be speaking them directly into the floor, at least until she pulls her head up, brushing her hair out of her face as she looks over at Bobby.
Emma Wakefield:
I almost had Bey and I was this close to breaking up that pin in that fatal four way.
He’s nodding his head to her words, being as supportive as he can.
Bobby Bradley:
You’ve been impressive since you came in here, to be fair. No one knew who you were, at least as a wrestler and already they’re putting you in another main event, that tells you that you’ve been impressing everyone. You can’t be that hard on yourself, Rome wasn’t built in a day. I don’t know why Rome specifically is the go to city but nevertheless it’s true!
Emma Wakefield:
Well it is one of the fashion capitals of the world.
Emma’s eyes are sparkling a little with excitement as she makes a mention of fashion, a thing that was just as important to her as her wrestling training.
Bobby Bradley:
Well maybe when this is all over we can take a trip down there?
Sensing that the topic of Rome was one to lift her spirits he decided to lean on that for a moment before focusing back on the task at hand. Emma’s smile grows as she claps her hands together with excitement at the idea he’s suggested.
Emma Wakefield:
Really? That would be so amazing Bobby!
Bobby Bradley:
Well then it’s a date! But for now, you’ve got a big opportunity ahead of you to really turn some heads and not just mine!
Emma blushes even though the smile was still on her face, she takes a deep breath, and finally pulls herself back up on her feet. She claps her hands together for extra emphasis.
Emma Wakefield:
You’re right! I need to kick some butt all in the name of Team Strike!
Bobby gets up with her and nods his head, a big smile on his face loving the energy she’s showing now.
Bobby Bradley:
You’ve got the right attitude now, now we just have to make sure you’re ready in the ring. As a former tag team champion, I feel uniquely qualified to go over the tag team uhh...psychology? Is that the right word? Psychiatrics? Either way, I know what I’m talking about...I think.
Emma places one hand over her mouth to cover up the fact she’s laughing as she watches the way Bobby’s face scrunches up while he appears to be deep in thought. She manages to push down her laughter long enough to give him a serious nod of her head.
Emma Wakefield:
Yes, teach me all the tricks you have, Sensei.
Bobby Bradley:
When we get through with training tonight, you’ll be able to sweep the leg with the best of them!
He smiles, taking her hand and escorting her back towards the training ring in the gym.
Bobby Bradley:
Any questions before we get back to it?
Emma Wakefield:
Yeah.
Emma pauses for a moment, appearing super serious as she takes a deep breath.
Emma Wakefield:
Can I get a milkshake after all of this?
Bobby Bradley:
Milkshakes are for winners!
He says matching her serious look before bursting into laughter. Emma claps her hands together with excitement before she jumps on Bobby’s back catching him by surprise as they fall down against the mat inside of the ring.
