Riot in Ohio
Live from Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, OH
Sunday October 17th, 2021
The show opened inside Vincent Moretti's office. The Riot General Manager, dressed in one of his favorite suits, was sitting behind his desk. From there he greeted the Riot fans watching the show on MENTV and thanked them for their constant support. Hoping they'd enjoy tonight's card, he continued by saying that there's something he needs to address, something with huge implications for the orange brand.
"It's hard to ignore when someone pins a champion, more so when they do it in their second match." He said in regards of Billy Danielson pinning Pierce Manning back in Montana, adding that this undoubtedly earned the Franchise a title shot at the next Pay-Per-View. The two will be forced to team up tonight, and they'll have their second one on one match at the beginning of November. But next week, right here on Riot, they will face an opponent of each other's choosing. "It can be anyone on the MWE roster, or even someone who's not signed with the company. I expect those names before the end of tonight."
A short and straight to the point announcement from the Riot General Manager, who then announced the first match of the night, a Riot debut for the longest reigning champion in MWE history. What a way to start the night!

Singles Match
Tiff Rollins VS Morag BeanFirst match on Riot for Tiff Rollins, and the former Cloud Gate champion was welcomed by a thunderous ovation from the Cincinnati fans. It was also the first match in two months, the last one being a win over Nina in August, and you could tell the Five Foot Death Machine was eager to get back in the ring. She started off strong, quickly putting Morag on the back foot thanks to her trademark kicking combinations. But the Scotswoman saw in this match the opportunity to get that big win that would finally turn her career around, and was going to do everything in her power to obtain it. Like, literally everything. Seeing Morag biting people was nothing new, from there came her Cannibal Queen nickname after all. But she took it to another level tonight, sinking her teeth on Tiffany’s thigh so deep that it left the mark and even drew some blood. The referee almost lost it, asking Morag if she had gone crazy. A question to which Sir Figgles himself answered by saying that no, she hasn’t gone insane. She’s always been. Despite the blatant disrespect of the rule, Bean got away with a stern warning and the promise that the next infraction, even the slightest one, would result in an instant disqualification. Too bad that while the official was busy giving her this lecture, Meera Makara was free to climb on the apron and blast Tiffany with an elbow to the back of the head, flattening her. Morag then picked the record-breaking champion and planted her on her head with a brainbuster. She made the cover and Tiff just barely survived it. That bite on the leg surely changed the course of the match, taking a big part of Tiff’s offense away. It didn’t help that Bean kept focusing on it with punches to the same spot she bit, stomps to the knee and illegal submissions around the ring post. These really tested the referee’s patience, more so since Morag really took them to the limit, letting go moments before the five. The official didn’t have ground to disqualify her, but he reminded the Scot that she was walking a very thin line. This second scolding actually played in Rollins’ favor, giving her a much needed break. Morag went to pick her up, but Tiff was ready this time and caught the Cannibal Queen with a punch to the stomach. And then a second one as she slowly stood up to her feet. Once she was fully standing, she shot a couple of stiff forearm strikes and finished her sequence with the leaping high knee called Peacemaker. Slightly limping on that right leg, Rollins walked up to Morag and picked her up. Irish whip and a clothesline attempt ducked by Bean who continued her run to the opposite side of the ring. On the rebound, Morag connected a dropkick to the right leg, taking down the former champion. She tried to complete the move she called Shetland And Bones with the shining wizard but Rollins ducked it and quickly rolled her up for a count of two. Tiff was also the first to get up to her feet, catching Morag with a hard kick to the chest as she was rising. More followed, the blonde girl pushing through the pain she was still feeling on that leg, as you could tell by the grimace on her face after every kick, to wear down the Scot with a series of shoot kicks, prelude to the trademark Death Kick. As the superkick connected, the Riot fans popped loudly, welcoming the return of the Five Foot Death Machine. WINNER: Tiff Rollins BY: Pinfall (Death Kick), 9:17 |
For the better part of the last couple of weeks, the reigning MWE Heavyweight Champion hasn’t had much to say. Rather staying close to the vest as the beginning of this season has started to shake out. Watching and seeing who would separate themselves from the pack.
As the camera comes into focus, we are looking into the traditional view of the locker room in the backstage area of the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati. Our champion front and center dressed to the nines. Wearing a pair of dark grey dress pants, complete with a white button down shirt that had a bit of a dark green design to it, and a solid dark green tie. The shine of the MWE Heavyweight Championship reflecting in the light.
Duke Andrews:
Every time I step foot in this city, I reminded as to why all the great ones want to leave.
It was the cue of the boo’s coming from the arena as Duke held up his index finger.
Duke Andrews:
From Carson Palmer, Mark Dantonio, and Brian Kelly, and very soon Luke Fickell.
Now it was personal as the boo’s got even louder in the arena. The sound was probably deafening inside the arena, which is precisely why he stayed in the back.
Duke Andrews:
I’ve given it some time to play out. Wanting to see who would step forth and stake claim to the next shot at the title. But I haven’t seen anything. I haven’t seen one worthy candidate. Hell, I already gave Reeves a verbal shot after I beat her a few months back. I know Brookford is waiting for his time, and Gloria is the only one that I’ve seen even mention my name. It’s rather disappointing.
Duke ran his hand along the side of his head as he snapped his head to the side. Seeing the camera pan a little and picking up the view of Tiffany walking by in her ring gear.
Duke Andrews:
I guess that’s a perk of being perfect. The cream always rises to the top, and the top stays with the top. Even when I wanna be lazy, she still wants me on top.
Innuendo. Move along.
Duke Andrews:
Back to the business at hand. I see a roster full of talent. Yet no one wants to try and reach out and take the brass ring. No one wants to try and grab the bull by his fucking horns. No one wants to dance, and if that’s how Grace enjoys her programming, I have no issues with staying at home and collecting that handsome check she’s sending my way every month.
Duke turns and grabs the title and tossed it over the edge of the black leather couch behind him before taking a seat.
Duke Andrews:
So instead of lacing up my boots and stepping in the ring on Riot, I’ll sit back and make sure that Alan does what Alan needs to do, and bring more gold back to this room. I know Tiff is on her way of taking the Light Heavyweight title and bringing it home.
Another brief pause as he looks at his title.
Duke Andrews:
We are ninety days into this title reign and this roster has shown how pathetic it is. The only person chirping is Olly and that’s because he’s mad at me for making Karen scream to the mountain tops while he’s still trying to figure out what to do with the wet spot. It’s not rocket science kid, three glasses of wine, run your fingers through her hair, grip her backside and it’s a ride you’ll never forget.
He smirked as he grabbed the title from the couch and laid it across his lap.
Duke Andrews:
I’m giving this roster one week to give me a worthy challenger. One week to find out who wants to stand toe to toe with the baddest motherfucker in this industry. Can you do that for me?
Backstage in the dressing room area we find Summer Collins seated on a stool watching the proceedings of Riot on a monitor. With her, doing her final stretching in preparation for her singles match tonight, is her best friend and tag team partner “The Archangel” Jessica Lasiewicz. Both women are dressed in their matching royal blue, black, and white cheerleader uniform ring gear with the word “Fabulous” printed on the front. Lasiewicz appears focused and intense but Summer by contrast appears just disgusted.
Summer Collins
This just isn’t working Jess…
Jessica Lasiewicz
What isn’t?
Summer Collins
This singles thing in MWE. I haven’t made it out of the block yet and while you have had two title shots, both of those title shots came up empty, so to be honest you haven’t gotten out of the block, either. I think we need to go back to tag team wrestling and focus on becoming two time MWE World Tag Team Champions.
Lasiewicz frowns.
Jessica Lasiewicz
We don’t book the matches, Summer.
Summer Collins
I know but we could talk to someone. Morretti or Elsa or…
Jessica sighs and shakes her head.
Jessica Lasiewicz
If my dad taught me one thing about poker it’s that you have to play the hand that is dealt to you. Sometimes the hand is good, other times it isn’t, but you play the hand that is dealt to you. Dad also taught me that just because you have a bad hand doesn’t mean you’re always going to lose. Sometimes you have to make your own luck. We are both very capable singles wrestlers and tag team wrestlers, Summer. If we get booked as a tag team then yeah, we’ll kick some ass and win the belts back. If we keep getting booked as singles wrestlers, we’ll eventually get our groove and win those belts too. But we CAN do both. I know we can and we will because we are that damn good.
Collins smirks.
Summer Collins
I didn’t know you were a motivational speaker.
Jessica Lasiewicz
I can pull a good speech out of my ass every once in a while. Now speaking of ass, I have to go kick one…
Singles Match
Nina VS Jessica LasiewiczAt the sound of the bell, the two began to spin around in circles, looking for an opening to get that first offense in. No surprise in seeing that Jessica was the first to strike, no surprise in seeing Nina dodge that attack and counter with a sharp knee to the stomach either. The Viper showed a glimmer of her striking ability with a quick flurry of lefts and rights leading up to a bicycle kick that sent Jessica flat on her back. Nina waited for her opponent to get up, dodged the Our Lady Peace bicycle kick and dropped Jessica on her neck with a German suplex. The Archangel was learning on her skin that, despite the mixed fortunes in her career, Nina was no slouch. And the unpredictability coming from her unorthodox style was probably the most dangerous aspect. The Viper showed a rare form, looking incredibly focused and aware of her means and capabilities. Countless takedowns and swift transitions into armbars and other submissions forced Jessica to take a break on the outside in order to regroup and find a strategy that would work against The Viper. She took almost the entire ten count before sliding back inside the ring right into a flurry of stomps to the head by Nina, who then sent the former tag team champion into the ropes. Lasiewicz ducked Nina’s kick by sliding under her leg and quickly pulled her into a backbreaker. Jess then switched to the offensive with some raging stomps, but even such a furious offense could backfire against Nina who grabbed her foot and pulled her into an ankle lock. The Archangel quickly reached for the ropes and interrupted the submission. In the second half of the match Jessica’s experience came into play, allowing the Archangel to steer the course of this match. Respecting and perhaps fearing the opponent’s technical ability, Jessica didn’t challenge her on the mat, staying up and relying mostly on her speed and agility to add that tad of unpredictability to her attacks. It was with a springboard back elbow that she knocked the Chicago born down, and Jessica quickly followed with a shining wizard. Jessica started building momentum, getting a first near fall with the Beauty (roundhouse kick followed by a curb stomp). The combo left Nina dazed, and knowing her history of concussions, that couldn’t be a good thing. Nina herself looked worried, on top of being obviously dazed by the hard shot. She was even more cautious from that moment on, leaving the initiative almost completely to Jessica. And the Archangel gladly took it, knocking down the former intern with the In Your Dreams (swinging firsherman’s neckbreaker). Nina kicked out in two and stood back up, trying to defend herself from the opponent’s onslaught. She even resorted to her The Fang one finger takedown but that only gave her a momentary break, a few moments to catch her breath before Jess resumed her fast paced offense. And eventually the Archangel was able to catch and drop Nina on her face with the Pure Deformation, securing the win in her first singles match on Riot. WINNER: Jessica Lasiewicz BY: Pinfall (Pure Deformation), 9:35 |
We cut backstage where we find “The British Bombshell” Glory Braddock standing next to backstage interviewer and journalist Dawn Paisley. Braddock is dressed in royal purple dress pants, a carnation pink blouse, a royal purple suit jacket that matches her pants, and royal purple patent leather high heel pumps. Her long blonde hair hangs straight to past the shoulders. A confident gaze is etched across her face.
Dawn Paisley
Ladies and gentlemen I am here with ‘The British Bombshell’ Glory Braddock and on Millennium you and Henri Black were victorious but more importantly for you, you pinned the MWE World Champion Duke Andrews.
Braddock nods her head.
Glory Braddock
It’s like I said all along, Henri and I have a great deal of respect for one another. We have teamed before, we have fought before, and we know one another very well. We respect each other. I had no doubts that we could beat Brookford and Duke. Hell, I know together Henri and I could beat any team on this roster. But at the same time Henri and I also have our own individual goals. Could we be tag team champions someday? Certainly. If we set our minds to it we could do anything. But my friends, Neil Newman and Sophie O’Brian, have their eyes set on the tag titles as well and I am not going to step on their toes. Henri is more focused on ripping Gareth Prichard’s head off his shoulders. And as for me…
She makes the title belt motion around her waist.
Glory Braddock
...I am focused on wrapping singles gold back around this waist.
Dawn Paisley
Pinning the reigning champion certainly puts you at the top of the list for a potential title shot. Is that your next goal? Do you want to become World Champion?
Glory Braddock
Everyone in this business wants to be the best, everyone wants to be the world champion. If they don’t then they are in the wrong damn business and should get out of my ring. I have been world champion fifteen times throughout my career, Dawn. I know the joy of winning the title and I also know the pain of losing the title. There’s still yet another feeling and that is the addiction you get, the addiction of being champion. Once you’ve felt it and lose it you are obsessed with having it again. Do I want to be a sixteen time World Champion? Do I want to be MWE World Champion? Yeah, I do. And now that I have pinned Duke, my eyes are squarely on him and his championship. Sic Semper Tyrannis…
Backstage at the Riot show we see Dean Smith accompanied by Aubrey Williams wearing some black shorts with a prominent, cute button. Her stomach slightly on show with her cappuccino coloured sweater with her hair done, makeup done, nails done, she'd obviously spent some time day to look her best. Dean, meanwhile, is letting her wrap up his hands in black tape while wearing a gorgeous cobalt blue jersey with vibrant white drawstrings and black sleeves. It barely covers his blue trunks trunks he's wearing, as if it's perfectly fit for him.
Bree shows up with her Monster's Inc hat, her arms all on show in her strongwoman's bodysuit. The pair haven't exactly coordinated on a tag team attire
Aubrey Williams:
Bree. I love your attire.
Bree Smith:
Thanks, Aubs. Fits me great and no restrictions.
Bree casually mentions while rolling her shoulders.
Dean Smith:
If it's gonna let you wreck people, great. We had that slight setback but this time around, against Strip Search, we can get back to our winning ways.
Bree Smith:
Yep. After Olly's comments, I wanna show him,…….Karen…….and the tag team division we're a threat. The Breebarian and the…
Aubrey Williams:
DeanDevil.
Dean Smith:
Aubs, we're not pitching halloween costumes right now.
Aubrey Williams:
It's the season to pitch costumes, Deano.
Dean tilts his head but lets the nickname slide.
Dean Smith:
Bree & Dean. Hard hitters. Never-Quitters. What happened last week only fuels us this week.
Dean says taking the role to pep talk his sister who seems fully engaged and feeds on it.
Bree Smith:
OH YEAH!.
Bree reveals her back to the crowd which shows her new attire has BreeZilla on the back
Bree Smith:
Let's go show 'em, Big Bro.
As Aubrey links her arm around Dean, fully intending to accompany him (them) to the ring.
Tag Team Match
Bree Smith & Dean Smith VS Strip Search
The first tag match of the night saw Bree and Dean Smith teaming up once again against the returning Strip Search. With Teagan Gallagher still on personal leave and focusing on her acting career, the BreeBerry found solace teaming with her brother Dean. Different dynamics than with Gallagher, giving up something in speed and agility but making up for it with Dean’s strength and power. Kiernan and Zoe had a good start, holding their own against the Smiths and even obtained a couple of counts of two with Zoe’s quick pinning predicaments. But then Dean squared the circle and found a way to counter Rian’s speed: a big boot right to the face. Zoe went down like a ton of bricks, and the Smiths’ display of power could finally begin. Dean tossed her around for a good minute with some simple yet effective throws, leaving the stage to his sister and immediately show the Power Of Bree with her trifecta of German Suplexes, holding the bridge on the third attempt for a pinning predicament broken up by Kiernan. Santos had her chance to turn things around for her team when Zoe finally managed to make the tag. The Law Enforcer brought the fight with her striking combinations, knocking down the blonde powerhouse with her A.D.W, a quick flurry of strikes culminated by a stiff roundhouse kick. Santos made the cover but the combination wasn’t enough to keep Bree Down, though it did quite the number on her forcing her to reach for Dean and make the tag. The former Invictus champion was able to match Kiernan in the striking department, and even beat her to her own game. He forced her back into the ropes and tied her up to them, delivering one of his hard boxing combinations, throwing quick jabs until the referee stopped him to free Santos. He confronted Dean about what he did, thus allowing Kiernan to sneak into her corner and make the tag to Zoe. A beautiful diving hurricanrana from the top rope flipped Dean onto his back, and while he was getting up to his feet he got kicked in the face by a low dropkick from the blonde, who tried to end the match with her Air Dance, but the springboard shooting star press missed the target. Dean tagged Bree in and threw Zoe into her arms with a catapult. Smith grabbed Rian and dropped her onto her stretched knee for the first of her backbreaker reps. Four more connected and Smith showed no intention to stop, much to the delight of the fans. Kiernan, in an attempt to save her partner, jumped on Bree’s back, hoping to get her to let go of Zoe.Not only that didn’t happen but Bree carried her around in an impressive feat of strength, despite Santos kept pounding at the back of her head. She carried her all the way to the corner where Dean made the tag and climbed to the top rope. Bree kept pacing the ring all the way to the opposite corner and then fell backwards, squashing Kiernan and throwing Zoe toward the center of the ring with a fallaway slam. Zoe picked herself up, obviously dazed and never saw Dean jumping to hit her with the Mean Dean diving knee strike, sealing the win for the Smiths. WINNER: Dean Smith & Bree Smith BY: Pinfall (Mean Dean), 11:06 |
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page is casually sitting in her wrestling gear, her hair in a ponytail with a Duke Andrews’ hat on her head in her private locker room.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page:
I am sitting here cool, calm, and collected because I know outside that door is my hired gun, my paid assassin to make sure no psycho driven wrestler or fans comes in here to harm me as I prepare to face the MWE Intercontinental champion tonight. Because anytime one faces any champion, non title or otherwise then it is a big damn deal and I need my head to be in the game. All while James Edwards is too focused on seeing if he can measure up to Clyde. Which he obviously cannot. So as he continues in his downward spiral, Clyde is about to put the stake into his heart once and for all I will begin my ascension to another championship reign. I have already declared where my eyes are set on. I haven't closed myself to all kinds of wonderful opportunities that might come my way or I might even just take what I want.
Tiffany winks at the camera.
We open in a darkened area of the arena. We find “The Assassin” Clyde Sutter dressed in all black and a stoic gaze upon his face. He stares coldly ahead into the camera with hatred in his eyes.
Clyde Sutter
Tick, tock, tick, tock…
He chuckles lightly.
Clyde Sutter
Mr. Edwards, you are indeed an impressive human being. Your penchant for violence nearly matches my own. You enjoy a good fight just like I do. And you do not even seem to be afraid of the prospects of your impending doom by my hands. Ordinarily I would say that shows your stupidity but you, Mr. Edwards, are not stupid. In fact, I applaud your bravery. You are not intimidated by The Assassin and for that you should be commended. But as good as you are, as good as I am, as good as anyone in this company may be, there is one opponent that no one can defeat…
The Assassin pauses, as if waiting on a response.
Clyde Sutter
...time. Some opponents can be stopped. You can stop an army dead in its tracks and keep it from advancing. But time always moves forward. You cannot roll back time and fix your mistakes. And then there’s fate, which we all know it is impossible to fight fate. Your future is written in stone, just like your past is forever fixed. And your future includes a meeting with me. You beg for it, bitch about management not giving you the match you want, but you really should calm down, Mr. Edwards. You will get the match you want. Management will grant you the death wish you desire. And when that time comes, when YOUR time comes, you will realize that your fate was sealed the moment you laid eyes on me. Your time is running out, Mr. Edwards.
Singles Match
Tiffany Lynn-Page VS Matt StoneAs stated on Twitter by Riot’s resident Diva, a match against the Intercontinental champion is a huge opportunity, and Tiffany wasted no time attacking Matt before the match even started, getting that early advantage. The referee decided to apply a lax version of the rules, perhaps knowing and expecting that both competitors were going to make a mockery out of them. He ordered for the bell to ring during Tiffany’s initial assault, as the former MENTV champion pushed the Straight Shooter back into the corner. Once there Matt was able to grab her and switch position, throwing some kicks to the stomach. Page fell on a seating position, but that didn’t save her from the following flurry of stomps to the face and the subsequent foot choke. This was when the referee stepped in to separate them, finally giving the bombshell a little break. Tiffany stood up and tried to blindside Matt while he was distracted by the referee’s speech, but Nicole Rossi grabbed her foot and stopped her. Tiffany turned around to lock eyes with Nicole who, in the meantime, was approached by the Assassin himself. This distraction, infact, gave Matt the opportunity to connect the Stone Cutter and score the first near fall of the match. The Intercontinental champion had his work cut out for him tonight. Tiffany proved to be a tough competitor, able to kick out from the champ’s S-T-Owned and even putting him in a tough spot when, after an eye rake, she clocked him with the Prima Donna kick. Focused and determined, Tiffany was looking to make the best of this opportunity, waiting for Stone to get up, almost stalking him, ready to finish him with the Sex And The City. But she wasn’t the only one seeing a big opportunity in tonight’s match. Her being out there, alone, was a gift James Edwards was not going to pass on. Whether it was to get his pound of flesh on Tiffany or just a way to lure Sutter out of his hiding, James hopped the barricade and struck Page with his Wildfire (spin kick/roundhouse knee combo). The match ended with a DQ loss for the champion, but the fight in the ring was far from over. Matt for a moment thought about attacking James and making him pay for costing him the match, but he soon changed his mind when Clyde Sutter grabbed a steel chair from unde the ring. The last thing he wanted was to get caught in the crossfire between the two of them, opting for a wise retreat that would keep him and Nicole safe. Sutter entered the ring and immediately lost his weapon due to a kick in the stomach from the Burning Heart. The two traded punches, finally finding that fight that’s been denied them for weeks. But it didn’t last long, only until Tiffany recovered and picked up the abandoned chair, smacking it against the back of James’ skull. She then ordered Sutter to finish him, which the Assassin gladly did, picking up James and performing his Judge, Jury And Executioner (double powerbomb followed by a F5) on top of the steel chair. WINNER: Tiffany Lynn-Page BY: DQ, 14:03 |
We open up with Alex Andrews sitting at the end of a bed in a hotel room. She has the MWE MENTV Championship belt laid across her lap as she looks to be examining it, running her fingers along the face plate.
Alex Andrews :
I've been here over a year now, and I've had time to think on the journey that led me to this championship right here. My first ever singles title, so yeah, it means a great deal to me, even if it's my second time holding it. I've grown rather...attached to it.
Alex smiles as she looks up at the camera.
Alex Andrews :
It's been a bumpy ride to get here. Plenty of ups and downs. Plenty of stops and starts. For a while, it felt like I was just going through the motions, and then...Neil Newman and I got into it. At first, it was about respect. And tough love. I'm his harsh ways as sneering attitude, I found focus. I found purpose. And even if I didn't win this title in that ladder match, Neil did. And so, I had my target, I had a clear and definable goal.
She taps the gold belt a few times with her hand.
Alex Andrews :
And obviously, even in winning it from him, I didn't have it easy. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine. Nah, I had Tiffany Lynn Page and Siobhan Mahoney and James Edwards to deal with. And in that respect, Tiffany and her underhanded tactics got the best of me, which...probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise, given her track record. I hit a low point, I'm that, felt like I was lacking purpose again. But now, that gauntlet match, that gave me the opportunity I wasn't about to squander.
Her smile seems a little less bright now as she continues speaking.
Alex Andrews :
I didn't exactly want to pry this out of James' hand the way it went down, but I wasn't about to let my pride get the better of me either. He still out up one neck of a fight, the fighting heart that he is...
She shakes her head.
Alex Andrews :
So once I heard Pierce Manning prattle on about being the face of Riot, it got me to think, is he really?
Alex laughs to her self.
Alex Andrews :
In my heart of hearts, I don't think so. So what that he managed to do what I'm attempting to first. So what if he scaled that mountain first? I truly believe his very nature and demeanor tarnishes the Riot brand. What it needs is someone like me. A fighting champion willing to face all comers and won't try and back talk and weasel their way out of defenses. So yeah, I can do it. But this one might be my biggest challenge uet. A former World Champion in his own right. But does he know the rules that go along with this title? Does he know the ins and outs that go with this championship like I do? What makes the MENTV Title truly unique? Nah, I doubt it. To him, it's just another trinket to add to his collection. But to me? It's all I have right now and I'm gonna fight my heart out to get to where I want with it. So, Alan Envy, you think you got what it takes to pry this belt from this girl's hands? I'd like to see you try. You don't have half as much at stake in this as I do, so will you truly did as deep as I'm willing to go?
Alex let's out a huge breath and just smiles, almost wickedly.
Alex Andrews :
We'll have to wait and find out.
Alex chuckles as the scene fades to black.
MENTV Championship Match
Alex Andrews © VS Alan EnvyAlex Andrews called this her toughest defense to date, and nobody could argue with that. Alan’s list of accomplishments spoke for himself, and let’s not forget the Lonestar scratched and clawed his way to the Battle For The Briefcase final, only losing to BROOKFORD at the end of a grueling Three Stages Of Hell match that could’ve literally gone both ways. The match started with a lock up, a situation that allowed Alan to immediately get control, switching into a headlock. Alex tried to break free but she wasn’t successful on her task, He kept control and eventually he was the one sending the champion into the ropes, knocking her down with a shoulder tackle on the rebound. Envy sprinted toward the same side of the ring Alex bounced off from and ducked under the champion’s leapfrog, rebounding on the opposite side. Alex went for a standing dropkick but Envy had stopped his own momentum by hooking his arms to the top rope. Alex crashed into the mat off the dropkick but she quickly stood back up, only to get leveled by a running big boot from the Show Stealer. Alan continued to dominate the first part of the match, dropping the champion on her chest with the gourdbuster to get another two count. The defending champion managed to turn things around when she escaped a powerbomb attempt with a flurry of punches to the head, landing in front of Alan and quickly kicking him in the stomach before dropping him on the head with a ddt. Just as she thought, this was a tough match for the champion. Alan was stronger than her, just as if not more technically gifted and he had a ton more experience due to being in the business for over a decade. Every time the champion seemed to have the upper hand and build some momentum, Alan found a way to turn the tables and regain control. Even by bending the rules a little bit. His hard strikes then did the rest, quickly wearing down the champion until Alan could easily drop her on her head with the Envious Demise. This was it, the end of Alex’ reign on her third defense. Envy hooked the leg for a cover but no! The champion was still in this. Alan looked shocked, and reacted with a furious series of stomps, all while screaming at the champion. When he picked her up though he discovered what most people on the Riot roster learned by sharing the ring with Lady Limitless. The word quitting does not exist in her vocabulary. She fought back, finding God only knows where the strength to react. At first her punches were weak, only good enough to slightly slow Alan down and give her a momentary break from his forearm strikes. But soon enough, feeding on the support of the fans who wanted nothing more than seeing her retaining the title, those punches to the ribs gained strength and tempo, getting more frequent and eventually doubling Alan over. This was the opening Alex was waiting for, perhaps her last chance to score that win number three and get one step closer to the Riot championship, her ultimate goal. She went all out, and with a little over one minute left to go, she couldn’t afford otherwise. The Queen’s End (hammerlock ddt), the Elysium and the Hella Rough all came in rapid succession, but couldn’t keep Alan down. It took the Brain Death (step up axe kick) to finally put the Lonestar down and stopping the clock at twenty seconds before the time limit. WINNER: Alex Andrews (STILL MENTV CHAMPION) BY: Pinfall (Brain Death), 14:40 |
Backstage at RIOT in Ohio, as the rising Franchise of the brand gets ready for his tag team match. Danielson has cemented himself as a top main eventer in two shows with a win over the Riot Champion… who is his tag team partner this show. He’s just doing some stretches when Robbie Hayden walks up to him.
Robbie Hayden:
BILLY DANIELSON!!! May I have a word?
Billy pauses for a moment, as he doesn’t like interviewers.
Billy Danielson:
Q&A’s aren’t really my thing… but why not!
Robbie smiles with enthusiasm as he quickly tries to make himself a tad more presentable. He signals the camera people to start rolling, even though they already are.
Robbie Hayden:
Billy Danielson, it’s no secret you’ve quickly put yourself in the upper echelon of Riot, and maybe even MWE as a whole. First a Headline win against former MENTV champion Tiffany Lynn-Page, then a main-event victory against our 2x and current Riot Champion Pierce Manning, and now you team with Pierce to face the GLORIOUS Golden Era. Not many in Riot can say that was their introduction to the company.
Billy chuckles.
Billy Danielson:
Here’s the thing… I've been tied to this company from the very beginning. Names like Dusty Douglas, Jacob Hammerstein, Chris Constantine Jr, Redd Thunder, Alan Envy, Christina Rose, anyone with the last name Smith that has come through here, James Edwards and so many others have my fingerprints in the DNA of their careers and each of them has been pillars for this company. In one way or another, a lot of MWE's favorites may not be where they are today without me.
The confidence oozes from Danielson as he continues on.
Billy Danielson:
So does it shock me that I’ve been beyond dominant in my run thus far? Absolutely not! I am a franchise wrestler. That means that I have the innate ability to walk into any company, throw it on my back and carry it from thereon. RIOT is no different, and tonight will be no different as I carry Lil Pierce to victory here tonight.
Robbie looks at Billy with a bit of confusion.
Robbie Hayden:
You do know Pierce is the exact same size as you and a little bit older, right?
Unphased by the question, Billy answers.
Billy Danielson:
But does he feel as big as Billy Danielson? I’ve beaten men who were 7ft tall and 300+lbs, and they weren’t BIGGER than The Franchise. Pierce is the same way. He is the big champ on campus, sure, but when you put his name and resume against mine, Pierce doesn’t look as big as me. When he was staring up at the lights in Montana he didn’t seem as big as me. That’s why he’s Lil Pierce, but it’s all okay. Even if he isn’t a Franchise like me, he’s still the top champion and that makes us an unstoppable team!
A smirk comes across the face of Danielson. He just tore down and then “jk’d” his new Riot Rival in the same sentence, because he doesn’t want any doubt being created for his match. He believes he can carry Pierce to the win and save his streak all in one match, so he has to have Manning look just as good as he is, even if he didn’t believe it himself.
Robbie Hayden:
So you’re saying the announcement earlier that you will be facing your tag team partner for his Riot Championship at the upcoming PPV AND that you BOTH will be choosing each other’s opponents at the next Riot, WON’T affect your abilities to team together?
Billy Danielson:
Absolutely not! Pierce and I may not be best friends, but we are both professionals. Just like how it won’t affect him knowing that he will be facing a former MENTV Champion and one of MY biggest rivals of all time… JAMES EDWARDS in New Hampshire next week.
Robbie’s jaw drops as Billy just casually drops his choice for Pierce. Billy smiles and keeps speaking, as if he doesn’t notice Hayden’s shock.
Billy Danielson:
Manning is really going to have to put all of that on the back burner in order to erase any doubt I may have stirred up with the MWE fanbase because two losses in a row would be REALLY embarrassing following his last Riot title reign. But like I said, he’s the top champion for now, and with the Franchise carrying him to victory, he’s going to stay that way just a little bit longer! Now, if you can let me finish my warmups, I’d appreciate it!

James Edwards VS EchoAs the show came back from the break, we saw Echo inside the ring. When James Edwards’ music played, nobody came out though, as expected considering the assault he was victim of just moments ago. Echo didn’t look too happy about that and called out Moretti, demanding another victim. The Riot General Manager did come out, but he answered that nobody would take the challenge and that she had the rest of the night off. And by that he meant that if she caused any further disturbance, he’d personally rip her contract to shreds. Echo left the ring and walked backstage, not missing the chance to provoke the General Manager further by bumping shoulders against him. But other than that she left without any accident, and Moretti could finally walk to the ring where he asked for a microphone. WINNER: // BY: //, 0:00 |
Once inside the ring, Vincent apologized for another interruption. He admits that this whole situation between James Edwards and Clyde Sutter has gotten out of hand. Their attempts to keep the two of them separated clearly haven't worked the way they hoped, but still allowed MWE to get almost to the PPV where their fight WILL happen.
And there's more to it. Vincent had an idea to give the Riot fans a preview of that match next week, putting James and Clyde one against the other in a tag team match. And while it's clear that Sutter's partner will be Tiffany Lynn-Page, the woman who hired him, James' partner will be someone of the Burning Heart's choosing.
But since James had been chosen by Billy Danielson as Pierce Manning's opponent and -he chuckled- moments before Billy's announcement Pierce confirmed to Moretti himself that he wants the Assassin to take on The Franchise, that tag match will take place on Millennium XCII, in New Mexico!
The fans erupted in cheers at the announcements, bringing a big smile on Moretti's lips as he walked backstage.

Glorious Golden Era (Sophie O'Brian & Neil Newman) VS Billy Danielson & Pierce Manning
Amy Maynard: “Say what you want about Billy Danielson, but the impact he made here in MWE is undeniable.” Sir Figgles: “Sorry but what would anyone want to say about Billy? Other than he’s the best thing that ever happened to this company since…” Amy Maynard: “Since your retirement?” Sir Figgles: “Exactly, since my r… HEY!” Amy Maynard: “You’re right, that led you to take this spot as commentator and that definitely was a fateful day for the company.” Fans were curious to see if Billy and Pierce were able to coexist and… Well, they weren’t. They couldn’t even decide who should start the match so the Glorious Golden Era made the decision for them. Sophie charged at Billy while Neil took the Riot champion out of the equation with a clothesline. Both men tumbled over the top rope, thus leaving O’Brian and Danielson inside the ring. Which was enough for the referee to make the bell ring and officially start the match. Sophie had Billy in the corner already, driving his face into the turnbuckle. She then threw a few quick shoot kicks to the back of the leg and then a series of punches to the back of the head. O’Brian backpedaled and as Billy slowly turned around, she rushed in for a corner splash, but The GOAT caught her in mid-air and slammed her into the canvas. Billy went for a quick cover but Sophie kicked out before the ref could even begin to count. He then pulled her to her feet by the hair and, after a thunderous uppercut, he put her on his shoulders in a fireman’s carry position, walking toward the center of the ring where he dropped her into a double knee gutbuster. Clutching her midsection, Sophie wisely rolled toward her corner before Billy could try to pin her, allowing Newman to make the tag and enter the ring. Sir Figgles: “Solid start by the future Riot champion here against whatsherface and nobody is surprised.” Amy Maynard: “You’re really going to insult Sophie O’Brian? That’s a weird hill to die on but if it’s what you wish…” Neil’s strength matched that of Billy, or so he thought. In truth, from the very first lock up it was clear that Danielson still had the advantage, even against the male half of the Glorious Golden Era. Newman though was quick to slip out of the clinch and move behind Billy’s back to connect a quick german suplex, throwing Danielson near his corner. He stood up, ready to get back into the fight but Manning slapped him on the back to take the tag. Pierce and Neil begin trading off quick jabs and leg kicks back and forth before Manning took control with a collar and elbow tie up. Neil tried to gain control but the Riot champion pushed him back into the corner. With pressure still applied, The Man threw a series of short arm lariats and Newman got rocked back with each crushing blow. Pierce took a few steps back with Elena in a daze, and rushed in for a corner clothesline but ran right into Neil’s boot. Manning stumbled back and was easily tackled to the mat by a spear from the former Tag Team champion who then hooked the leg and made the cover, obtaining a two count. Amy Maynard: “It’s no secret that the Glorious Golden Era is chasing gold. A win tonight could definitely put them back in the title contention.” Sir Figgles: “Oh goodness, they just did! And lost. Do we really need to see them losing again to Karen and Olly?” Amy Maynard: “Technically, they won. Via DQ. Which was a cowardly way for the champ to retain.” The Glorious Golden Era showed great chemistry tonight, something they clearly had been working on during the previous weeks. And that was what the opposing team, to nobody’s surprise, lacked. Even in tags, and there had been a few between Billy and Pierce, you could see the tension between them, and it kept growing until it reached the breaking point when Danielson made the tag to the unaware Manning and entered the ring, looking to finish Sophie with The Franchise. Pierce wasn’t letting him steal his thunder, not after everything he did to wear down O’Brian. There was a brief argument, but eventually Pierce stepped out of the ring. As soon as he did, though, he tagged himself back in. The two partners went head-to-head against the other, a harsh confrontation during which Sophie could make the tag to Newman. Neil waited to see how things developed between the two rivals, and when the Riot champion stunned Billy with a forearm to the jaw and dropped him with his TBTM, he knew it was the right moment to strike with his End Game Classic, scoring the win for his team.
