Singles Match
Liv Mercer VS Nine van der HoekThe bell tolled and both competitors began closing in and circling. As they drew near, Nine hoisted her hand out, looking to go for a lock up, but Mercer didn’t trust the Dutch and instead threw a sharp side kick to her ribs. Liv then lunged in and the two tied up in a collar and elbow lock. She quickly put Nine in an arm wrench, pulling up as van der Hoek winced in pain. Mercer started dropping elbows to her shoulder but the protegee of Alessio van Duren used her technical ability to get out of the hold and threw another sharp kick to break free of Mercer’s hold. Nine began firing off rapid shoot kicks to the legs and body while mixing in jabs to the head, keeping Liv off guard. And when she least expected it, she planted the first ever Riot champion on the mat with a leaping reverse STO. The New Problem moved over to Mercer who was still lying on the mat and connected her patented handstand double knee drop, making the first pinfall attempt of the match and obtaining a count of two. Nine popped back to her feet and waited for Liv to get up on her own accord. As she did and turned to Nine, she quickly locked her in a standing guillotine choke. Gasping for air, Liv desperately tried to wiggle out of the submission and eventually managed to with some punches to the ribs. Nine went back on the attack but Liv caught her with a jumping knee and followed up with a clothesline to level the Dutch. The blonde taunted the young opponent inviting her to get up and when she did, swung her leg for a spinning heel kick that caught Nine flush on the side of the head and dropped her down. Liv stayed on the attack for the following minutes, wearing Nine down with hard striking combinations and some throws. Having learned the lesson from the earlier, she waived all sorts of submissions and holds where she was at a disadvantage against the Frisian Demon. Instead, she took her down with a straightjacket neckbreaker slam and moved over to Nine who was still lying on the mat and took her boot, beginning to rough her face up. Nine grabbed the foot and quickly put her in an ankle lock. Liv cried out in pain, immediately clawing at the canvas trying to reach the nearby ropes. But just as she was mere inches away from them, Nine pulled her back to the center of the ring. The pain was almost unbearable, Mercer looking like she could tap at any moment. In one desperate, last effort, she pointed her elbows on the mat and slowly pulled her torso up, rolling forward and sending Nine flying through the ropes and out of the ting. The New Problem landed on her head, slightly straining her neck. She pulled herself up and massaged the sore area, finally getting back in the ring where Liv was just starting to get up to her feet. The two went back and forth for a couple more minutes until van der Hoek landed a hard low kick to Liv’s injured leg. The leg gave up, putting Mercer on one knee. Perfect position for Nine to deliver the Seventh Dream (somersault cutter), adding another big name to the growing list of victims of the Frisian Demon. WINNER: Nine van der Hoek BY: Pinfall (The Seventh Nightmare), 10:18 |
We open backstage in the dressing room currently being occupied by the Glorious Golden Era. Neil Newman and Kyle Butler are nowhere to be found but we do see none other than Sophie O’Brian there, dressed in her wrestling gear, getting ready for her match tonight. She is interrupted when the door to the dressing room opens and her long time best friend Glory Braddock enters. The British Bombshell is dressed in a royal purple long sleeve dress with a hemline that stops just above the knee and black patent leather high heel pumps. Glory approaches Sophie and folds her arms over her chest. Sophie sighs, bracing herself for what she senses will be a tense conversation.
Sophie O’Brian:
Gloria, are you here to wish me luck tonight?
Glory Braddock:
I don’t have to wish you luck, Sophie. You and Neil are both incredible athletes and with the combined talent you two have, luck is completely unnecessary. But of course, I will always wish you luck, mate.
O’Brian smirks.
Sophie O’Brian:
Somehow I take it that wishing me luck isn’t the only purpose behind your visit.
Glory Braddock:
You’re right, of course. Look, Sophie, I think it is time we had a chat. When I brought this Glorious Golden Era together I admit that at first it was all about dominating Riot, and eventually this company. But I was a different person back then. I was unrecognizable. I was a monster. I have since changed and now Glorious Golden Era is about restoring and respecting what makes wrestling great; the tradition, the sport, the competitive aspect behind it. And we will stand up against anyone who tries to destroy it. And I was happy to see you join the Glorious Golden Era. With you and Mark by my side, there is no one who can stop us.
Sophie O’Brian:
I sense a “but” coming on…
Glory Braddock:
In Texas, when Tiana let go of the submission out of fear and you took advantage….I can’t judge you or anyone else for that. That was a mistake that she made that she will learn from in the future. But in Virginia when I did battle with James Edwards, you should not have tripped him. I want to win, I want to be the best in the world yet again, and I do want to become a sixteen time world champion, but I want to do it my way without taking any shortcuts. Now if my opponent tries to cheat or to take a shortcut first then fine, all bets are off, but if we can keep it clean then I want to keep it clean. If I cannot win the World Championship on my own merit then I do not want it.
Braddock reaches out and places a hand on Sophie’s shoulder.
Glory Braddock:
This isn’t a lecture. I know in the past I used to lecture you and that led to some heated disagreements. I am not that person anymore, either. What you and Neil choose to do in your matches, what you choose to do tonight against Warblade 42 in order to win, that’s none of my business. I will always have your back, as well as Neil and Kyle’s. But please, respect my wishes and do not try to use underhanded tactics to help me win.
Sophie nods her head.
Sophie O’Brian:
Fair enough. It’s just that things have been frustrating lately, especially for Neil. I can tell that he wasn’t exactly thrilled with teams we beat getting a potential tag title opportunity while he and I were left out. Aren’t you upset that your name isn’t being thrown around in the World Title discussion right now?
Glory Braddock:
I would be lying if I said it didn’t bother me. But one thing I have learned is that if you continue winning, if you keep on making an impact, eventually you cannot be ignored. Moretti can line them up and I will knock them all down until management is forced to give me another opportunity at the MWE World Championship. Until then, I will continue to do what I do best…
She smirks knowingly.
Glory Braddock:
...just win.
Glory and Sophie embrace. Braddock then turns and walks off.
Tag Team Match
Warblade 42 VS Glorious Golden Era (Sophie O'Brian & Neil Newman)
Niko and Sophie were set to start things off for the respective teams. circling around and locking horns in the middle of the ring. The two traded holds for a couple of minutes, jockeying for position and trying to get the leverage on the opponent. Not the most exciting start to memory, but surely a sight to behold for the lovers of technical wrestling. O’Brian managed to grab the opponent’s arm and twist it into a wrist lock. She then walked to her corner and tag Newman in. The former tag team champion climbed to the top rope to drive a double axe handle down on Niko’s arm, knocking the Blade Maiden Of Tokyo down. Yua was holding her arm, but Pierce grabbed it and laid it down on the canvas, hitting a couple of knee drops onto it and causing the japanese to groan in pain. He further worked on the arm, targeting it with kicks and armbars, involving once again Sophie showing an improved chemistry from their previous performances. Sophie continued to apply pressure on that left arm, but Niko finally was able to counter the hold and hit the Belfast born with a kick to the ribs. The blow caused Sophie to stumble back a couple of steps, enough for Niko to charge and deliver a running single leg dropkick to open her path to the corner where Valkyrie was waiting for the tag. The Dane picked up O’Brian and pushed her into the ropes, and elbowed her in the chest on the rebound. Vee scooped O’Brian up but she blocked the slam attempt, slipping behind her shoulders and looping her arm around the blonde’s neck and pulled her down with a neckbreaker, heading straight to her corner for another tag right after. Neil entered the ring and locked horns with Valkyrie, the two engaged in a test of strength that saw Newman coming out on top after a bit of a struggle and pushing the opponent into the corner. At first it seemed he was giving her the clean break, but then he hit her with a knife edge chop, followed by a second one. More came out echoing in the Arena like gunshots, he even taunted her saying his chops were harder than Tank’s ones. Then he grabbed her arm and sent her in the opposite corner with an irish whip, but Valkyrie countered it and he was the one ending up against the turnbuckles. The Great Dane Bitch was already charging with a full head of steam to stun him with a forearm strike, leaving him defenseless against some tear skinning chops of her own. The fast paced, back and forth action offered the fans a very enjoyable contest and gave both teams the chance to shine, in perspective of a potential future title shot. The Glorious Golden Era showed some interesting tag team maneuvers, but perhaps they’d need some more time and experience together to perfect the timing and movements. Warblade 42 instead didn’t have this problem, the two women worked like a perfectly oiled machine, showing off with an extended version of their Switchover Suplex on Sophie, keeping the Northern Irish upside down for a longer than usual time. Despite that effort, the following pinning predicament was only worth a two, thanks to Neil prompt intervention. The GGE had their chance to win the match as well, especially when Newman powerbombed Niko into oblivion. Sophie did a great job intercepting Vee before she could break up the pin, but the position was so close to the ropes that Nikp managed to reach for them with her foot, saving herself from eating the pin. She only delayed the end though, as it came a couple of minutes later when he locked Niko in the EGV (standing arm triangle choke). Valkyrie rushed in to break it up but Sophie took her down with a drop toe hold and locked her in her patented Wisdom (Muta Lock). Not too long after that, the Blade Maiden Of Tokyo tapped out. WINNER: Glorious Golden Era BY: Submission (EGV), 13:36 |
Earlier in the Day
Four Atlantic City Squad Cars are surrounding a black Lincoln Tahoe in the parking lot of Boardwalk Hall. The cops are standing at attention when the back driver side door opens up. A man who is over six feet tall and close to three hundred pounds gets out of the Tahoe. He takes a few steps forward and looks back towards the open door he just stepped out of. A black mesh J’Adior Slingback pumps steps out of the Tahoe. “Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page emerges from the back of the Tahoe in a black Lambskin Dior Skort with a “CD” Buckle, a black Dior, Plumetis Tulle sheer blouse with plastron, with a Dior black lambskin cropped jacket on top of her blouse. She slides her EverDior AU blue pilot sunglasses off of her face and hands them to the man who got out of the SUV before she did.
“Too Sexy” Tiffany Lynn Page:
Not only did I get robbed out of my MENTV title by that sneak attacking coward Siobhan last week but I now am being ordered to step into the ring with this crazed maniac, James Edwards. This folk hero to the gullible has somehow got another match with me despite the fact that I destroyed him on my way to becoming MENTV champion several months ago. James viciously attacked me without provocation and has proven that MWE is an unsafe work environment. Which is why I have beefed up my personal security team because what MWE likes to call their security is nothing more than a joke that allowed for that psycho James to attack me. James’ crazy ass needs to be kept away from me because he is a lunatic and I should be awarded this match by forfeit.
Tiffany huffs and then storms off as she is followed by her security team and Atlantic City police officers.
Singles Match
James Edwards VS Tiffany Lynn PageJames Edwards’ main goal was to teach the former MENTV champion a lesson, and he wasted no time to do so, charging at Tiffany right after the sound of the bell. Page took a step aside and James hit the ropes, coming back with a devastating boot to the face. Unleashing all that aggression he bottled up for weeks, The Burning Heart mounted on top of his grounded opponent and rained down hard forearm strikes to the back of her head. Tiffany grabbed the nearby bottom rope but this didn’t stop James’ pounding. The referee himself could barely make him stop, and had to threaten to stop the match to accomplish it. Not that Edwards seemed like he cared about getting his hand raised at the end of it as much as he did about hurting the Diva, but he could use more time to get his payback. He kept hitting her, even harder than he usually hit anyone else, all the hatred for the bombshell channeled in those fists and kicks. Tiffany couldn’t do much in the first minutes, completely overwhelmed by James’ aggressive start. She tried her best to protect herself from the flurry of strikes, finding shelter behind the referee, a move that earned her a loud round of boos. James stopped his hand mere inches away from the terrified ref’s face, Page reached over the official’s shoulder to poke him in the eye and momentarily blind him. The former MENTV champion was quick to capitalize with the Prima Donna chick kick, but when she made the cover on James, he kicked out in one and half. The match continued pretty much on the same tracks, with James out for blood and Tiffany on the defensive, occasionally able to find an opening and get some offense in. She did a good job using James’ fury against him, ducking a right hand and taking him down with a drop toe hold. James’ face bounced off the canvas, and as he tried to stand up, she curb stomped him on the canvas again, this time getting much closer to the three than in any previous occasion. But James started fighting back, aiming at Tiffany’s arm and shoulder with his stiff kicks. His strategy was pretty clear, even Sir Figgles had figured it out by now. He wanted to finish what he started a few weeks ago, when he almost snapped the Diva’s arm at the end of their last match. He had her now in a high angle armbar, a submission he kept locked in even after the former champion reached the ropes. The referee counted to four and then physically broke up the submission, getting in Edwards’ face and giving him one final warning. James wasn’t getting any of it, pushing the ref aside and grabbing Tiffany’s wrist, pulling her in an armdrag. He tried to transition into another armbar, but Page slipped out of his grasp and rolled under the bottom rope, clutching her injured arm. She looked up at the referee, then at James and demanded that he’d disqualify the Burning Heart. Of course her request wasn’t considered by the official who, instead, began to count her out. Tiffany, slightly offended or pretending to be, scoffed and turned around, walking out of the match. James shook his head and left the ring, but the referee held him back, continuing his count and eventually reaching ten. The bell rang and Edwards was declared the winner of the match. Not that he seemed satisfied with it, and it was the official who paid the price, getting floored by a right hand from the former Lion's Road champion. WINNER: James Edwards BY: Count Out, 9:55 |
Gospel music is playing as there is a shot of the pulpit where a cross dones the back wall. Someone walks in carrying a podium and sits it down just as Alan Envy carrying his Bible comes into the scene. He sits the Good Book down and looks out towards his congregation. Obviously people who were fans of his and possibly paid actors.
Alan Envy:
Do you all agree that you are bad people? That you are all sinners, amd do you believe Jesus died for your sins for you to have the opportunity to join him in the Kingdom?
The crowd quietly agrees.
Alan Envy:
NO!! That is the wrong response! I need more enthusiasm from you!!
Envy pumps the congregation up as he asks them all to be seated.
Alan Envy:
Its amazing when God chooses to reach out to you when you didn't ask him too...like he did me. I lived a life of sin, and I still do.. but knowing that even when I slip up I am firgiven because He sent His son to die for them...it's the greatest gift that one mortal could ever ask for!.
The crowd claps and says in unison Amen.
Alan Envy:
I am a professional wrestler, who has made a lot of money and dabbled in everything from adultery to divorce, putting pride before Jesus. I've been in contact with women who I wasn't married too. .I've used the Lord's name in vain. Yet Jesus CAME TO ME TO BE HIS CHAMPION!. Key word is champion, because I am already assured a spot in His Kingdom, so its time for my worldly award, and the way to get that is a briefcase.
Envy sips a glass of water.
Alan Envy:
Yet….I can also show you all what sinners you are abd impactfully teach you the word of God. Leia LeBeau you get to face me inside a steel cage. You will have your opportunity to hear the Gospel, or you can refuse and force me to have me make you feel the Word...you will jave a life changing moment but it won't be because you're moving on to the finals...its Alan Envy, introducing you to Your Lord and Savior And if you don't accept….well you were warned. And judgement will come early for you.
Envy slams his hand on the stand!
Alan Envy:
My purpose is clear!! To being sinners to Christ, or send them for early judgement. Let us pray…
Envy bowes his head as his congregation does as the scene fades back to Riot
MENTV Championship Match
Siobhan Mahoney © VS Alex AndrewsAnother chance to recapture "her" title for Alex Andrews, against the new champion Siobhan Mahoney. The bell sounded and both competitors wasted little time and closed the distance. Mahoney and Andrews met in the center of the ring and locked horns with a collar and elbow tie up. The challenger used her slight size advantage to put Siobhan in an arm wrench. The Northern Irish tried to throw several back elbows to escape the hold but Alex dodged each strike. Siobhan then cartwheeled out of the pressure and dropped Alex with a swift leg sweep. The challenger was quick to react, though, instantly getting up to her feet with a kip up. The two locked up once again. Andrews went on the offensive and Irish whipped the Human Disaster, but she reversed the whip and sent Lady Limitless running the ropes. On the return, the champion attempted to take her head off with a lariat, but Alex ducked it. Andrews rebounded off the ropes and came at Siobhan with her Elysium bicycle kick. Looking to recapture the title she lost at Hic Sunt Leones, Alex rushed into a cover and hooked both legs, but it wasn’t enough to keep the champion down. Andrews dragged the champion up to her feet and Siobhan quickly threw a knee to the midsection. Alex hunkered over and allowed Mahoney to sink in a front face lock and hurl her over with a snap suplex. Andrews was quick to get back to her feet though and rushed the champion, only for her to use her momentum for a textbook hip toss. Alex, just like every time before this, was quick to get up but this time Siobhan was waiting for her with a low dropkick to the side of the head. The two were not holding back, unlike the recent defenses during Tiffany’s reign, Siobhan never once tried to waste time by taking extended breaks. It seemed clear that her intention was to retain with a clean win before the time limit would expire to restore some legitimacy to the title. Something Alex would definitely respect. The match was intense, constant back and forth, hard hitting action. Alex came close to the win with the Queen’s End (Hammerlock DDT), Siobhan almost retained with a devastating EIre Raid that knocked Alex down. On that occasion, Andrews saved herself by barely getting the foot on the bottom rope. Siobhan slammed her fist on the mat in frustration, she really thought she had the opponent there. She dragged the dazed challenger up to her feet and delivered a series of quick strikes and kicks to the sides. Alex was standing groggily, visibly dazed after the flurry of offense. The self proclaimed Future Queen Of Wrestling took a step back and looked ready to strike with the Shillelagh spin kick. But before she could strike, Tiffany Lynn Page entered the ring and blasted her from behind with the MENTV championship, knocking her down and causing the obvious disqualification. The Diva yelled something about taking back her title which, ironically, was the Alex’ goal as well. Speaking of Lady Limitless, she wasn’t happy with how the match ended. Before she could express her feelings toward Tiffany though, the former champion left the ring, taking Siobhan’s title with her. She smiled at Alex and Mahoney who just got up to her feet as she walked up the ramp. Edwards came out running toward her and knocked her down with a lariat to the back of the neck. He was ready to finish what he had started earlier, but security rushed to the scene and separated him from Tiffany. Behind them was Vincent Moretti, a quick look on his face tells he had had enough. WINNER: Siobhan Mahoney (STILL MENTV CHAMPION) BY: DQ, 11:38 |
The scene opens backstage. BROOKFORD can be seen sitting on a blue steel folding chair taping up his wrist. Seconds later, Paisley Dawn steps into the scene. BROOKFORD, however, doesn’t look up to acknowledge her. He’s still focused on taping up his wrist.
Paisley Dawn:
Excuse me, BROOKFORD, can I get a quick word with you?
BROOKFORD finishes taping his wrist. He throws the spool of tape across the room. Looking up at Paisley he sighs.
BROOKFORD:
Make it quick.
Paisley Dawn:
A couple of days ago the world saw Alan Envy nail you with a--
BROOKFORD grabs her wrist, forcing Paisley to fail to complete her thought.
BROOKFORD:
I’m not concerned about that.
She raises her eyebrow.
Paisley Dawn:
So you're not angry?
BROOKFORD chuckles.
BROOKFORD:
What purpose does anger serve me, Paisley? You expecting me to take out my so-called rage out on Garrett inside of a steel cage later? If I was a Neanderthal, perhaps I would be beating my chest, screaming bloody murder. Again, what purpose does that serve me? All I care about is winning my match; advancing to the finals, challenging whoever wins outta Alan Envy and Leia Lebeu. And before you ask, am I hoping Alan wins?
BROOKFORD shrugs.
BROOKFORD:
Whoever wins is irrelevant. Winning the briefcase trumps whatever ill feelings I may have. Considering the times I punked out Alan Envy in the past, he got his receipt. We’re even. Now, if you excuse me, I want to be alone.
Paisley nods her head. She walks off. BROOKFORD sits in quiet contemplation as the scene fades.
Battle For The Briefcase Tournament Match
Semi-Final: Steel Cage
Kenzie Garrett VS BROOKFORDSemi-Final: Steel Cage
One last hurdle on their way toward the briefcase, and everything it entails. BROOKFORD has been very vocal about how this tournament is his to win, Kenzie has been more quiet but you can see the look of determination in her eyes. as she stood in front of the much bigger opponent. The referee called for the bell, officially starting the first of two semi-final matches. As usual for her, Kenzie attacked headfirst, trying to take BROOKFORD off guard with her speed. She delivered a swift kicking combination, aiming at the big man’s legs. The last one, a reverse kick to the stomach, doubled the Problem Solver, pushing him back a couple of steps. Garrett turned around and charged him with a step-up hurricanrana, but BROOKFORD blocked her legs and turned her attempt into a powerbomb, making the first pinfall attempt of the match. Kenzie kicked out in two, but she was still feeling the effects of that brutal powerbomb when BROOKFORD pulled her up. He quickly threw her against the cage wall, she was quick to grab onto it and started to climb. The former Underground Dynasty champion shook his head and immediately grabbed her foot, putting her in position for another powerbomb. Kenzie started raining down punches to the man’s head and eventually threw all her bodyweight backwards, flipping him into the mat performing the hurricanrana she failed to connect before. BROOKFORD quickly pulled up to a seated position, only to get knocked back down by a running meteora from the Soulknife who then hooked the leg to make the cover. The Problem Solver kicked out without breaking a sweat. For a couple of minutes Kenzie created some problems for BROOKFORD, taking him down to one knee with a low dropkick and starting to hit him on the face with several knee strikes. A display of brutality from the former Chicago Way champion who was known for his intense style. After the cover, she rolled BROOKFORD against the cage and hit him with a baseball slide, causing his head to bounce against the steel wall. She insisted by putting her foot on his cheek and pressing the side of his head against the structure and grinding his face against the cold steel. She eventually let him go and rolled him back toward the center of the ring and jumped on him with a standing moonsault, making the cover for another near fall. BROOKFORD got up to his feet and wiped some blood that was trickling down his cheek, assuming a fighting stance and daring Kenzie to attack him. As she came charging with a yakuza kick, he stepped aside and delivered a belly to belly suplex as soon as Garrett turned around. Using his power advantage, he dominated the following minutes with hard blows and by throwing Kenzie against the cage, even busting her head open when he picked her up on his shoulder and rammed her against the wall several times. But Garrett was still in this match, surprisingly kicking out even after the ridiculous amount of punishment she took. BROOKFORD picked her up once again and irish whipped her into the corner. Kenzie stepped on the ropes and flipped over the charging, landing behind his back and immediately jumping and placing both knees on his back for a backstabber, leaving him down writhing in pain. She then started climbing the wall to escape, almost getting all the way to the top. But then BROOKFORD got back to his feet and began to shake the cage with such violence that Kenzie lost her grip and fell all the way down, crashing hard on the canvas below. BROOKFORD wasted no time and squashed her with a senton before deadlifting her and setting her up with her feet on the rope for the Problem… Solved, earning his ticket to the big final at Glory Horizons. WINNER: BROOKFORD BY: Pinfall (Problem… Solved!), 16:37 |
The scene begins with Henri Black in the ring, dressed formally and with the Riot championship perched as always atop his shoulder. As he collects a microphone the noise from the crowd begins to diminish.
Henri Black:
Ladies and gentlemen it has recently come to my attention that Bryan Ford has yet to recover from events that took place during his last match and I’m not sure why but I can’t help but feel somewhat responsible for this.
Henri pulls his phone from his inner jacket pocket and flips it in his hand a few times.
Henri Black:
As such, I have reached out to every medical professional, every voodoo priest and every shamanic witch doctor I could find and only one of them was able to help me, you see this witch doctor he told me that all I needed to do was say the magic words…
The crowd suddenly begin to break out in sporadic laughter.
Henri Black:
Naturally I asked him, witch doctor… what are the magic words? And he told me… he told me ‘you go ooh ee ooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang’ did you all catch that? Because in order to make absolutely sure this works I think we should all say those magic words together, after all, if one man can have the effect I need then the thousands of people here tonight can surely do so much more.
Henri holds up his left hand and extends three fingers to begin his countdown.
Henri Black:
Say it with me now everyone, in Three… Two… One… ooh ee ooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang.
The crowd dutifully shouts along with Henri, the farcical magic words before erupting into another round of laughter.
Henri Black:
Very good everybody, I’m confident that with all of our energy focused on his recovery that Bryan Ford will certainly be able to recover in time for Glory Horizons, wait… what was that!
A man dressed in a stereotypical witch doctors outfit, complete with feathers and mask, dances his way down from the back as the song Witch Doctor begins to be piped into the arena, with a smoking frond in hand the man circles the ring chanting nonsensical gibberish and shouting before dancing his way back up the ramp as Henri valiantly fights back his own laughter.
Henri Black:
Well that was certainly a surprise, our magic words were so powerful that we summoned the witch doctor himself! And in his gratitude for such an event he has blessed this ring now I am certain that our good wishes will be enough to heal Bryan Ford, aren’t you all?
The crowd cheers at this as Henri continues to fight back laughter.
Henri Black:
But all joking aside, Ford, I sincerely hope to see you at Glory Horizons. You’ve kept me waiting long enough, you answered my challenge and now it’s time to seal the deal.
Henri pulls an envelope out of his pocket.
Henri Black:
This is the contract for our match, we have yet to sign it, so once you’re up and about we’re going to do exactly that, I spoke to Moretti and he’s willing to tag along and act as our notary for the event.
Stepping between the ropes, Henri descends the steps, speaking one last time.
Henri Black:
Be seeing you soon.
We then get a shot at the choice of Vincent Moretti’s office for this particular event. The paperwork is a little disorganized but he’s sitting on his desk. He’s also palming the cane in his left hand as he contemplates things further.
Vincent Moretti:
It seems we have a hell of a situation here involving my brainchild, the Television Title. I don’t like putting myself on the air unless we have to but it seems like I have to intervene on something.
He lets out a slight laugh as if he almost expected a situation like this, the silver hair waving back and forth as he uses the cane to balance himself as he stands.
Vincent Moretti:
It’s become a hot button of chaos. Everyone brings their own brand of expertise or even violence to the game. That’s what I envisioned for this championship, a mixture of styles under the pressure of a time limit. And quite the clash of personalities too...considering how some of you have handled things. But let’s recap recent events.
There’s a knowing smile that flashes across the silver fox’s face as he recounts that.
Vincent Moretti:
It dates back to James Edwards getting himself intentionally disqualified to send a message to the then champion Tiffany Lynn Page, keeping the kimura look on. Then as Tiffany was going to get herself counted out...Sibhone Mahoney blasted Tiffany and got Alex disqualified. Following week, Siobhan made good on her opportunity and upended the champion via her camel clutch. Considering Alex was wronged by the incident that got Siobhan her own opportunity...he got a chance tonight and then...well...you see what’s gone on tonight. You saw that fresh with your own eyes!
Vincent rubs the back of his neck as he considers things further.
Vincent Moretti:
James, I didn’t want you in the arena that night because well...a rational man losing his shit is scarier than a crazy person losing their shit. The situation made you think irrationally for a moment there. Kind of proved me right on this one haven’t you? But I’ll say this much. I think I have a little solution for the four of you. Something I learned when I was a professional wrestler working in Vegas. Oh yes...I got it. Let’s see who deserves to be the television champion.
Vincent lets out a chuckle.
Vincent Moretti:
I’ll call this the Champion’s Trial. The TV champion will start with one of the opponents. Normal television title rules but...considering the animosity, I think I’ll ask the ref to show some leniency. It’ll be better for you four in the long run. The winner of that match is either the new TV champion or the champion gets a successful defense. Then the next challenger steps in. The cycle repeats. If the champion were to lose the title in the middle of all this, they’ll have one last opportunity to regain the title but start anew at the end of this. That’s the extent of the champion's advantage the current champion will have. For one simple reason...
Then he eyeballs the camera with a sneaky grin on his face.
Vincent Moretti:
You lose this particular match by DQ or Countout...well, you’re losing the title as well. It wouldn’t be a trial if you ran away now would it? So get clever. Actually try to beat the opponent...and only one of you will be champion by the end of it. As for the others, who enters when? It’s a random draw for you lot. It’s the only fair way to do that. Good luck you four...we’re expecting one hell of a show for Glory Horizon’s alright? Champion’s pay is always better…
He lets out a chuckle as he twirls his cane around before we fade from the office.
Battle For The Briefcase Tournament Match
Semi-Final: Steel Cage
Alan Envy VS Leia LeBeauSemi-Final: Steel Cage
Amy Maynard: “Last match on the card, it’s time to find out who will compete against BROOKFORD for the Briefcase at our next PPV.” Sir Figgles: “Whoever it’ll be, they have to go through three stages of hell against BROOKFORD. Not exactly a walk in the park.” Amy Maynard:”Definitely not.. But considering what’s at stake, the prize is worth the price.” Sir Figgles: “A briefcase that grants the owner a shot at ANY title at ANY time and the ability to book and change stipulation for every match? I’d say it truly is.” The bell rang, Alan offered a handshake to his “sister” but the former Junior Heavyweight champion didn’t buy it. She, instead, circled around him, looking for an opening to connect a first kick to the leg. Alan lunged in and tried to grab her, but the Showgirl ducked and moved behind his back, delivering another hard kick to the back of the knee causing his leg to buckle. Alan turned around and was met by a dropsault from the young girl that sent him into the corner. It was early in the match, but the position was perfect and the chance too tempting to pass on. She charged at full speed, looking to connect her Jet City Jive. But Alan stepped forward and pushed her in the air, catching her over his shoulders and dropping her on her neck with a pop up death valley driver. Amy Maynard: “Not really the start Leia was hoping for.” Sir Figgles: “This is a sign, Amy. She can try all she wants, but Alan will be the one advancing to the final. Deus Vult!” The veteran was perfectly at ease inside the cage, using the perimeter to inflict punishment to the young girl, grinding her pretty face against the steel. Leia broke free with a mule kick, quickly turning around and connecting a gamengiri kick to the side of the head. The former Junior Heavyweight champion performed a cartwheel and landed with her leg across Alan’s throat. She hooked the leg, but Alan kicked out in two. Leia stayed on the attack with several stomps to the prone opponent who instinctively and possibly forgetting they were inside a cage, rolled toward the outside. Obviously he ended up against the wall and Leia planted her heel on his throat and pushed down. The referee asked her to let go, knowing he couldn’t do much more than that. She eventually let go on her accord, picking up the Lonestar from the floor and tied him up to the ropes, using him as a punching bag for her boxing combinations, finishing him off with a roundhouse kick. Finally stepping back, she allowed the referee to unhook Alan’s arms. As soon as he did, the former Tag champion fell down face first on the canvas. Leia rolled him on his back and hooked both legs for a deep cover, but Envy popped up his shoulder in time. Amy Maynard: “Looks like you counted out Leia too early, Figgles. What a comeback by the Show!” Sir Figgles: “You woman of little faith. Watch and see.” The reality was quite different from Figgles’ prediction, as Leia remained on the attack, wearing the veteran down with her Show Kicks and her Sleepless In Seattle sleeper hold. Envy tried to power out of it, forcing himself up to a vertical base and elbowing his way out of the hold. Leia ate a couple of sharp elbows to the stomach but kept her arms wrapped around the man’s neck and jumped on his back. Alan tried to get her off, but she wasn’t letting go. Alan started backpedaling and crushed her into the cage wall, repeating the same move two more times. Leia seemed stunned. but she desperately kept hanging on. Envy adjusted her position and ran toward the center of the ring, dropping down to a seated position delivering a backpack stunner to the young girl. Rather than making the cover, he took the time to recover, the two contenders getting up at the same time. Leia threw a wild right hook but Envy blocked and connected one of her own, sending the Show staggering back a few steps. Alan applied a front facelock and lifted her in a suplex position, dropping her violently on the mat with a gourdbuster. Sir Figgles: “Give me an AM…” Amy Maynard: “Not so fast, Figgles. Leia is still alive!” The match continued, and Envy was in full control. He powerbombed Leia into the cage, almost beheaded her with a vicious sliding lariat, threw her head first into the exposed turnbuckle and nailed her on her head with a piledriver. But the young girl, somehow, kept raising her shoulder. The fans were all on her side, applauding this gutsy performance and trying to push her toward what started to look like a miracle. She showed a first sign of life when she surprised Alan with an inside cradle and almost walked out with the win. They both got up to their feet, Leia went for a high kick to the head but Alan ducked her shot and caught her in a full nelson and did the lift. LeBeau wrapped her legs around the opponent’s waist and rolled forward, pinning him once again and getting another near fall. The former Junior Heavyweight champion faked another kick to the head and when Alan ducked, she caught him with a push kick that shoved the Envious One against the corner with the exposed turnbuckle. Amy Maynard: “JET CITY JIVE!! Leia did it! She’s going to the final!” The running Claymore kick connected right to Alan’s face, knocking the man down. Leia, exhausted, struggled a bit to roll him on his back and made the cover. The fans counted alongside the referee but their scream of joy died in their throats as Alan, shockingly, kicked out just in the nick of time. Sir Figgles: “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, Sister. It’s God’s will that Alan advances to the final.” Amy Maynard: “If that’s true, He should come down and do something real quick. Leia is taking the door and walking straight into the main event of Glory Horizons!” After laying down some vicious stomps to the head of the Preacher to unleash her frustration, Leia left the former member of APE licking his wounds. She asked the referee on the outside to open the door for her and quickly walked toward it, ready to take her deserved spot in the main event of Glory Horizons. Amy Maynard: “You have to be kidding me… That’s Nine van der Hoek! Again!” Sir Figgles: “Call her how you want, she’s a godsend. I told you that the Lord wants his favorite son to advance!” A deja-vu from what happened at Hic Sunt Leones, only this time the Frisian Demon didn’t slam the door on Leia’s head. She just stood there, right outside the door and that was enough to stop the former Junior Heavyweight champion on her tracks. Leia yelled at her to go away, which brought a smile on The New Problem’s lips. Nine invited “Showtime” to come and face her but before anything could happen, Alan rose to his feet and spun Leia around, doubling her over with a kick to the stomach and nailing her with the Envious Demise. The boos were raining down louder than ever for both Nine and Alan who hooked Leia’s leg and picked up a win that, at some point, slipped through his fingers.
