MILLENNIUM XVI: Call to Action
Live from the TD Garden in Boston, MA
Saturday, September 8, 2018
The show comes to life panning over pyrotechnic display on the Millennium Wrestling stage: The large metallic M hanging over the stage itself, with wrestlers emerging from beneath the heavy spiked. "Waking Lions" by Pop Evil blasts through the arena, pumping up the audience in attendance. The cameras pan around the arena, showcasing the sold-out crowd, focusing in on a few of the fan-made signs:
"#WallToWinItAll" “VOODOO QUEEN” “But Who Will Face Britt?” “#ChicagoCrew” “<- Fuck You, This is Boston” “Fifty Shades of Gray Malone” “I GOT BULLIED ON TWITTER” “Reign of STEELE” “WHAM BAM SHANG-A-YANG” “If the Have My Babies Guy Was Here, I Think He’d say: Melissa Reeves Can Have My Babies”
The show cuts to the broadcast table.
Jared Idol: “Hello Boston!”
Bea Torres: “Home of the Red Sox, the Celtics, the Bruins, and tonight… Millennium Wrestling!”
Jared Idol: “Boston is our last stop before what’s shaping up to be a HUGE Heroes & Cons event in New York City. Tonight, we’re going to see-”
Jared is cut off as a bubbly beat starts to play. The Boston crowd erupts into cheers as Zelda Gibbons appears on stage. She walks down the ramp with a wide smile, Astyn the paddle tight in her hand. She takes a seat next to Bea, putting on a headset.
Bea Torres: “DADDY’S HERE!”
Jared Idol: “In her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts!”
Zelda Gibbons: “Helloooo! Millennium Wrestling making an appearance in Boston, DADDY’S HOUSE, for the very first time? I HAD to be here!”
Bea Torres: “Welcome to the table! We were just talking about the main event tonight: The Steel Cage Scramble participants face off in a four-way match before their encounter for the Millennium Championship on September 22nd.”
Zelda Gibbons: “YES! Jennifer Yang, Grace van Beek, and those other two.”
Jared Idol: “Gray Malone and Jason Hawk.”
Bea Torres: “And we have word that Britt Kane is in the building! You have to wonder her thought process in recent weeks.”
Jared Idol: “She won the belt in what many called a fluke victory, but then went on to defend it against Ace Watson after his questionable decision making. She was set to fight Nora Foley at Heroes & Cons, but Nora’s untimely exit from Millennium put the Cloud Gate picture right back in the air.”
Bea Torres: “We’ve heard that situation will be addressed later tonight. It’s going to be a great show! Let’s get into it! TAKE US AWAY, RUM!”
The camera feed cuts out to show us a scene, it’s dated September 1, 2018. We see backstage where a few staff members seem unnerved and the camera crew seem to be looking for someone. A stagehand points down a hallway where we see who they’re looking for. Saki, the Kawaii Deathmachine. Mere moments ago she had lost the fatal four way match thanks to Sephora Eastwick’s interference. The two-tone haired girl stood with her forehead against the wall, otherwise motionless. An eerie sight for sure.
As the camera draws closer there’s no movement, not even a sign she notices them. That is until it’s too late. Out of nowhere, faster than she should’ve been able to move Saki lunged. The crew scrambled and ran, but left their camera on the floor. Saki moved the camera so it could see her, those two-tone eyes staring.
Saki
It was won, all set and done. But Eastwick, dipstick, don’t know Saki’s not one to fuck wit. Stuck your neck out, boutta get deck’d out. Somethin’ you wanna prove? Bitch it’s a bad move, not smooth.
The maniac tugs at her hair and whines in frustration only to giggle a second later.
Saki
Poke the bear, get rend and tear’d. Piss off Saki, end up cut up like Futomaki. Ya think I'ma let this fly like a cold breeze? Ho please! Gonna chop you down at both knees. Stuck your nose in stuck in your snout, now I’m furious, my hair I’m tearing it out.
Saki giggled and yanked at her hair before grinning wide, drooling a little on the lense.
Saki
Think you’re clever do you? You’ll float too...YOU’LL FLOAT TOO!
Singles Match
Kamila Rose VS Saki Saki had something to prove in the opening bout, following the disappointing loss last week that cost her a chance at the Lockdown Championship. She was on top of Kamila Rose right from the start, sending flurries of quick offense to try and take the larger competitor down. Rose was not about to lose her debut in Millennium so easily, and quickly hammered back, driving her shoulder to Saki’s gut and carrying her to the corner. She ran in, hitting a shining wizard in the corner which she quickly followed with a bulldog. She went for a quick cover. Saki got a shoulder up at two. The match was not long, but not one-sided either. As the match drew to a close, Saki found herself in hot water. Trapped on the mat, Kamila had locked in her signature Rose’s Thorn, and Saki was desperately trying not to tap out. She giggled madly in the hold, which seemed to both confuse Kamila and drive her to wrench harder on the lock, threatening to break Saki entirely. Saki reached desperately for the rope, thrashing, trying to get anything across the safety net… and she did! Her foot just grazed the rope and a final kick rested her ankle across the bottom. The referee stepped in, ordering the break. Kamila didn’t utilize the count, rolling away from Saki, nodding her respect that Saki had found an escape. She came forward, grabbing Saki’s arm. She tried for an Irish whip to the corner. Saki reversed it, looking to throw Kamila instead. She reeled back, pulling her in, and Saki drove her head right into Rose’s skull with a nasty headbutt. Farfegnugen! She dropped down, hooking the leg. One… two… Saki got away with the victory! WINNER: Saki BY: Pinfall, 5:27 |
Zelda Gibbons: “And Saki gets away with the win!”
Bea Torres: “You have to wonder what she’s got on her mind here. I thought that submission was going to be it for sure.”
Jared Idol: “Well let’s take a look at some of these replays, you can see that Kamila had the upper hand there, look at this… look at how Saki was looking for that signature meteora, but there was Kamila with great ring awareness and that kick out of midair!”
Bea Torres: “We thought that would be it for sure, and Saki found herself in that Rose’s Thorn submission but… well, we saw what happened. Saki pulls out a big win here.”
Saki crawls to the ropes, biting down on the bottom rope and looking up the ramp, as though expecting to see somebody there. The camera zooms in on her eyes, the two different colors, then cuts backstage.
The camera switches to an area backstage where Selina Metzger is stood in front of a Millennium Wrestling backdrop. Dressed in her ring attire, “Der Übermensch” gives a courteous smile to the camera, and as everyone in Millennium gets to hear her speak for the first time, her German accent is evident, although it has a certain slight twang to it that has been picked up from several years spent living in Southern California.
Selina Metzger
Guten Abend alle zusammen*. For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Selina Metzger, and after having a successful debut during last week’s pre-show, tonight I get to set foot inside a Millennium ring for a second time, but this time as part of the main show, which - like I tweeted earlier in the week - means that now a wider audience is going to get a glimpse of what Der Übermensch is capable of.
*Good evening everyone.
Selina Metzger
As well as being my first match in Millennium, my match seven days ago was also the first singles match of my career, and only my second match in total. I was in the ring with a very creditable opponent in Christina Rose, someone who has compiled a long list of achievements elsewhere, and prior to the match, she told me to try to stay on her level, otherwise it would be “Game Over.” As it turned out, I more than managed to stay on her level - in fact, I guess I exceeded it - as despite all of the accolades that she has to her name, and despite my inexperience, I was the one that had their hand raised at the end of the match.
A self-satisfied smirk crosses Selina’s face.
Selina Metzger
Christina has already told me that she wants to have a rematch at some point, and I’ll be happy to give her one, but that’ll have to wait for now, at least, as I have another match, and a different opponent, that I need to focus on.
Following the briefest of pauses, she continues.
Selina Metzger
At the moment, pretty much every match that I’m involved in is a first for me: last week it was my first singles match; tonight, I’ll be competing in a No Disqualification match for the the first time, against the returning Sephora Eastwick. I’m aware that this type of match is right up her alley, but while my training hasn’t exactly prepared me for this sort of thing, I’ve got no trepidation about being in the ring with her. She might simply see this as a chance to hurt someone, but for me this an opportunity to continue to make a name for myself, and to show that I can handle any challenge that is thrown at me.
Selina puts her hands on her hips.
Selina Metzger
One of the things that intrigues me about this particular match, besides its rules, is that Sephora is the same height as I am. It’s not often that I encounter another female who’s as tall as me, so it’ll be interesting to be in the ring with a woman who can stand nose-to-nose with me, and look me directly in the eye. However, although we may be of equal height, I of course outweigh Sephora by over forty pounds, and while I expect her to try to use whatever she can get her hands on to inflict pain on me, it’s probably no surprise that I’ll be aiming to make use of my strength advantage. It’s my muscularity and my above average height that has led to me being given the nickname “Der Übermensch,” as I look like a superhuman, and if it isn’t obvious just from looking at me, I can assure you all that I possess the power to live up to that name, as Sephora will soon find out.
She takes her hands off her hips, and raises her arms to show off a quick flex of her biceps.
Selina Metzger
I arrived in Millennium Wrestling after being informed that this place “could use more Amazons,” and I’m grateful for having been given the opportunity to further myself inside the Millennium ring. At this early stage in my career, I’m still developing as a wrestler, and every match is a learning experience for me. I’m not just here to learn though, and I’m not just here to make up the numbers - I’m here to be successful, and after marking my debut with a win last week, tonight I’m determined to make it two wins out of two.
Selina holds up her left hand so that the tattoos on the sides of her fingers are visible to the camera. Her middle finger has “Ruthless” tattooed on it, while “GAME OVER” is tattooed on her ring finger.
Selina Metzger
Christina Rose was the first person in Millennium to get a taste of how ruthless I can be, and tonight, Sephora Eastwick will be the second. Because whether it’s by making the most of my freakish athletic ability, or by using weapons when necessary, tonight, I plan on it being “Game Over” for Sephora too.
She then lowers her hand and stares confidently at the camera, before it cuts away.
Dane Archer is seen backstage with Grace van Beek and her usual security detail. She seems annoyed, but Dane crosses his arms over his chest with a stern look.
Dane Archer
You heard me.
Grace scoffs.
Grace van Beek
I heard you, but I hardly understand the logic.
Dane shakes his head.
Dane Archer
I offered to provide protection, and I offered to put the hurt on people when they needed the hurt put on ‘em. I didn’t sign up for Aurora fucking Jansen.
Grace van Beek
So what, you’re scared?
Dane snarls.
Dane Archer
Not scared. But not stupid, either. I’m not saying I won’t do it. I’m saying if you want me to do it, the price goes up.
Grace looks up at him, measuring him up. Dane’s face remains expressionless, not daring to give her any doubts or reason to reject his offer. She looks at Riekert, who avoids eye contact. Surely, the DDT from last week still sat fresh in his mind. Grace finally throws her hands up in surrender.
Grace van Beek
Fine! Fine. The money will be transferred, as our usual arrangement. But I don’t expect to have any more of these types of talks. Understood?
Dane smirks.
Dane Archer
Pleasure doing business, Miss van Beek.
He ducks under the doorframe to the locker room, closing the door behind him and disappearing from sight.
Singles Match
No Disqualifications
Selina Metzger VS Sephora EastwickNo Disqualifications
The no disqualification rules certainly leaned in favor of the returning Eastwick, who made her talents known quickly in this type of environment. Not letting the power of Metzger intimidate her, Sephora immediately went to the outside, finding a tool in the form of a kendo stick to bring the fight to the German star. She delivered nasty swings to the leg and midsection of Selina, until Selina managed to catch the stick, ripping it from her hands. She gave the stick a swing herself, smashing it in the side of Sephora’s head. Sephora retreated, sliding from the ring and hunting for a new weapon. Selina knew better than to let Sephora get hold of another foreign object. She seized Eastwick, smashing her headfirst into the apron and rolling her into the ring. Selina followed after her, sending a few strong stomps to Sephora’s limbs. She pulled Eastwick to her feet. Sephora dug a thumb to Selina’s eye, forcing the retreat. Sephora grabbedher, rolling her up. One… two… Selina kicked out at two. True to her word, Selina used her power to her advantage, sending Sephora flying to the ropes. Sephora came flying back, leaping up for a flying forearm that took the German off her feet. Selina was quick to her feet, turning to see Sephora coming at her again with a second forearm. Selina rolled back up. Sephora stalked her, waiting for a chance to use the Blue Light Special. She grabbed Selina from behind, looking for the pumphandle… Selina drove an elbow to her jaw! Sephora stumbled backwards, turned away from Selina.. And she’s taken down with the Cotton Candy Kiss of Death! Saki flew off the top rope with her meteora, taking Sephora down hard! Saki rolls over, getting in Sephora’s face as she recovers on the mat. Selina looks on, baffled at what had just happened. Saki rolls away with a wide smile. Selina looks on, observing the carnage, but reluctantly drops, hooking the leg for the pin. One… two… three. WINNER: Selina Metzger BY: Pinfall, 8:14 |
The crowd boos as Saki heads up the ramp.
Bea Torres: “You have to think this isn’t the way Selina Metzger wanted to win tonight.”
Jared Idol: “Saki getting a measure of revenge against Sephora Eastwick for her actions last week!”
Selina frowns, but accepts her victory, helping Sephora to her feet before heading to the back. The show cuts to commercial.
Out at ringside, Killswitch Engage's "No End in Sight" plays and Melissa Reeves strides out. She makes her way down to the ring, talking to a few younger fans on her way, and rolls in. Her music dies down and she closes her eyes as she stands on the corner, just listening to her ovation. Finally she raises the microphone to her mouth.
Melissa
"Boston..."
A few fans cheer.
Melissa
"I said Boston!"
The cheers are far louder now.
Melissa
"That's more like it. Boston, I'm back! This time under a new banner, too. Millennium Wrestling."
She smiles at the fan's response.
Melissa
"Tonight is day one of my new chapter. A fresh start, fresh set of challenges. First up comes Ace Watson and guys...guys, let me tell you, this is an exciting match."
A few fans jeer, Ace is certainly not a popular figure.
Melissa
"I know, I know. Ace is a boneheaded idiot half the time and, if we're being honest, his career doesn't exactly live up to the potential he has. But he's still capable in the ring and he's a name that, no matter what you think of him, stands out on the roster. So all that said? Beating him means something. Beating him makes for a good start to my time here in Millennium."
She nods as the fans chant she can do it.
Melissa
"But that's not to say it'll be easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. It takes time and dedication, training and learning. That's what I do and you can bet your ass that I've been studying those antics he's been getting up to lately. See I'm used to underhanded tactics - let's not forget I fought off The Society for months."
A lot of the fans boo their name.
Melissa
"But if Ace decides to employ those sort of tactics in my match with him then he's going to do nothing but cause himself a whole new set of problems. So please, Ace, use your head for once."
She taps the side of her forehead.
Melissa
"Fight fair and bring me a good challenge. Don't disappoint, Ace. Don't show these fans that you're nothing more than an overhyped nobody with no capability of getting the job done under your own steam. Don't show everyone that you're just a little bitch who needs to cheat to ever achieve."
Mel gives a little smirk.
Melissa
"Show us that you have the balls to stand against me within the rules of the contest. Bring me your best, Ace, bring me your very best. Bring no excuses. Bring no shortcuts. Show me what you can do and watch, watch as it isn't enough."
The smirk grows a little wider.
Melissa
"...because that's the truth of this situation. You're good, Ace, but you can't get the job done against me."
She offers a small shrug.
Melissa
"So at least salvage your reputation by losing cleanly. Take it like a man. I'll see you out here real soon."
She drops the mic and poses as her music plays, before heading to the back again.
As the shot slowly fades in from black were able to hear the cheer of an audience! The crowd is chanting the names of D’Angelo Blackwell and Jennifer Yang! The darkness disappears, and we’re shown Dlo and Yang trading strikes in the middle of the ring! Dlo knees her in the head and lifts her for the Dark Age, but as he does Nessa Wall paces on the outside, causing Dlo to drop Yang! Yang is then able to hit #YANGVICTORY and retain her championship! The screen turns black as the camera zooms out, revealing D’Angelo Blackwell sitting on a steel chair watching the footage!
D'Angelo Blackwell
Yoo, I messed up last week, forreal. I seriously let that legally blonde BITCH, get into my head. Shit, man…
Dlo places his head into his hands, reflecting on his mistakes… A few seconds pass until Dlo raises his head smirking and laughing uncontrollably!
D’Angelo Blackwell
Yooooooo, I’m just playin. I ain’t stressin it! I didn’t win the Millennium Championship last week, but I was an inch away from doing so! I’ll claim that championship eventually, it just ain’t time yet. I gotta deal with this Nessa issue though, she seems obsessed with me…. I mean I don’t blame her, but, ay, I was shrugging it off, and it cost me, so it’s time to deal with that! I’m reaching out to Chuck Matthews and requesting that I get the opportunity to take her head off at Heroes and Cons! I gotta reclaim that bullshit win she got on me as well, so make it happen, Chuck.
Dlo pauses, taking a sip from his water bottle before continuing.
D’Angelo Blackwell
So, with that out the way, let's move on to this week! I’m competing in a triple threat this week, as I stated on Twitter the last triple threat match I had, I walked away with gold! Specifically, the GWA Heritage Championship! I know what it takes to win these matches, forreal! In that last triple threat, I hit Dark Age on one opponent and pinned the other with a frogsplash! I ain’t playin, dog! I’ll take both of y’all down! I got respect for Aurora and Kane, I see them working and shit! I ain’t followed their careers, but I’ve heard things about the both of them, and I know they work hard. I’m ready, G! I need a big win after last week and Ima ensure that I get it tonight! After that, my sights are set on Nessa and Heroes and Cons!
Dlo winks at the camera as the shot fades out.
Singles Match
Ace Watson VS Melissa ReevesWith Melissa making her Millennium debut and Ace looking to get back on top of things after losing his shot to compete at Hereos & Cons, this match had big implications for both stars. Melissa took early control, keeping Ace’s back to the ropes. Ace got his hands up, blocking a flurry of stiff shots from Reeves. He hit a shoulder block that stumbled her back a bit, and followed with a clothesline that took her clean off her feet. Melissa was quick to her feet, tying up with Ace in the center of the ring. He immediately began to overpower her, until Melissa was able to take him to the mat with an armdrag. She kept him there, wrenching on his arm and shoulder. Ace groaned in pain, but managed to get free. The two stood, measuring each other up. As the match went on, it remained unclear just who would win. Fatigue began to set in for both stars, with Ace struggling at times to lift Melissa and perform his typical power moves, while Reeves struggled to maintain the speedy strikes she was known for. She approached Ace as he struggled to his feet. She sent a hard kick, trying to take him back to the mat. Ace caught her leg, getting to his feet. She hopped on one leg for a moment and leaped, hitting him square in the side of the skull. Ace drops to his knees, leaning against the ropes for support. From the back, Christopher Kane appears on stage with a smile, walking down the ramp. Ace spots him, instinctively reaching to his boot for his signature brass knuckles. He leans against the ropes, shouting at Chris. Chris approaches the ring, looking around for Millennium Security, which has typically been able to stop his interference, but tonight they were nowhere to be found. Ace takes a swing at Chris, who dodges out of the way. Ace takes a step back and turns back to Melissa, looking over his shoulder at Chris. Melissa takes advantage, grabbing him and bringing his face down over her knees. Facial Deconstructor! She hooks the leg. One.. two… three! WINNER: Melissa Reeves BY: Pinfall, 10:52 |
Bea Torres: “Chris Kane did it AGAIN.”
Zelda Gibbons: “Oh relax, it’s not like Ace would have won anyway. Now Astyn here… he could have beat them both.”
Jared Idol: “Ace is LIVID!”
Ace rolls from the ring, clutching his nose where Melissa’s knees had hit him. He charges after Chris, who retreats again. In the ring, Melissa’s hand is raised by the referee. She smiles to herself, checking her jaw, but nodding to the fans in attendance. The show cuts to commercial.
Chloe Collins is seen wandering the halls, looking for Ace Watson and his promised interview. She’s nearly run over as Chris Kane runs by, Ace furiously charging after him. She dodges just in time, narrowly avoiding the collision. She frowns, watching them run off.
Chloe Collins
Figures.
The feed cuts to a closeup of the Millennium championship resting on a table. It’s a very glamourized shot too, with soft light bouncing off the gold in a warm shine from a few different angles. The table’s wooden surface serves as a beautiful backdrop, allowing the title belt to stand out majestically in the frame. Tying it all up together is the instrumental version of “Whistle” by BLACKPINK, which is Millennium champion Jennifer Yang’s entrance theme.
Dressed in her Fight Like Jenni tank top (made by Graps Apparel IWT) over her usual wrestling attire, Jennifer herself steps into the frame while tying up her hair in a high ponytail. The scene goes into a series of intercutting slow-mo shots from different angles; the long tendrils of her black and blue hair bouncing on the sides of her face, from the sharp blades of her cheekbones to that of her bare shoulders, the scars on her skin from the recent in-ring attacks, the deep focused look in her eyes and the curve of her manager/fiance Ho Wei Shen’s smirk as he saunters over to wrap her in a white and blue robe. With a thank you, she shrugs it on then places the title over the shoulder. Wei Shen steps in front of her and lifts up her chin so that they are looking at each other in the eyes, making it a rather aww-inducing intimate moment between the two. Though not often portrayed on Millennium TV, it’s a common sight on the media these days as their relationship becomes more public. Jenni smiles back shyly before Wei gazes down on the title belt on her shoulder. For the first time, someone speaks. Music continues in the background as Wei steps aside to allow the camera an unobstructed view of the glorious Millennium championship.
Ho Wei Shen
Contenders… take a look... take a good, long look at the prize you’ll be fighting for. And consider yourselves lucky for this isn’t on the line tonight. You get two more weeks to train for the biggest match of your careers yet. Use the time wisely.
He gives a rather charming grin.
Ho Wei Shen
I say this because I want to give you the courtesy of reminding you how damn good Jennifer has become. If for whatever reason you missed her match with D’Angelo last week, I urge you to watch it as soon as possible. Like I’ve said, he’s a talented kid but it’s just not enough to beat her right now. I know Ms van Beek believes she’s still better than Jenni after beating her once before, but she can’t say the same about this Jenni before me today.
He says it while placing his hand on her shoulder with a proud look on his face.
Ho Wei Shen
That Jenni you beat has long bloomed into the top champion of this company. Believe me, Ms van Beek, that Jenni and this Jenni are practically two worlds apart now. It’s amazing how a small shift in focus can do wonders to one’s career. But I see that you’ve chosen a tough battle. Look at you, still embroiled in your issues with Mr Matthews. Now look at Jenni, a wrestling champion the world can be proud of. A role model. An inspiration.
He bows his head down for a second.
Ho Wei Shen
‘An inspiration’ can’t be said of the other two in this match, can it? I agree with Jenni that Mr Hawk has slipped onto a dangerous road with all this blaming the fans, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like he’s interested in righting the wrongs that he has done. Are you, Mr Hawk? What about you, Mr Malone? Are either of you planning to hurt Jenni again? I hope not. If you still want your shot at the Millennium championship, I strongly suggest that you refrain from making a violent statement tonight.
The camera catches Jennifer giving Wei a sympathetic smile before the scene cuts away.
Singles Match
Nessa Wall VS Vivi Robichaud
This was not the start Vivienne had envisioned when she signed to Millennium: A victory in her debut was nice, but the tough win against Kane and last week’s run-in with Grace’s security team had put Vivi in a tough spot. This week, fighting Nessa Wall, things were tougher. The two women seemed to share a mutual respect; at the very least, they respected the sport enough to give a nod before the bell rang. Robichaud was the first to come out of the gate. The two met in Nessa’s corner, where Viv was the first to strike. Nessa fired back immediately, rocking Vivi. They tied up. Nessa threw Vivi to the corner and drove a knee to her gut before dragging her out and hitting a suplex. She rolled over for the pin. One… two… kickout by Robichaud. The match went back and forth, with neither really able to get the upper hand. A hard punch and a neckbreaker put Nessa down for a two-count, but she managed to get a shoulder up. It wasn’t until Grace’s security team appeared on stage that things began to escalate. Both women seemed distracted by their presence: Vivi knew all too well what they were capable of, while Nessa still had the brawl last week fresh in her mind; she knew she was on Grace’s list. Nessa stood back, wanting to put as much space as she could between herself and the guards. Vivi, satisfied that they weren’t going to approach, turned her attention back to Nessa. Nessa charged, looking to drive a knee to Vivi’s face. Kissy Kissy… missed! Vivi moved at the very last second! She runs forward, hitting the ropes and charging back at Nessa. Nessa can’t react quick enough to avoid the DDT. Hurricane Vivienne! Vivi hooks both legs. One… two… three! WINNER: Vivi Robichaud BY: Pinfall, 13:01 |
The security slowly disappears behind the curtain as Vivi watches. Behind her, Nessa slowly gets to her feet, where the referee hands her the Millennium Case. She frowns, disappointed in getting caught off-guard, but heads to the back.
Jared Idol: “A huge victory for Vivienne here tonight.”
Bea Torres: “And a much needed one as well. Millennium is all about momentum and building your name. If you’re not moving up, you’re moving back.”
Jared Idol: “But it’s what you do with that momentum that counts.”
Zelda Gibbons: “Oh my god, Nessa STILL has that briefcase??”
The show cuts to commercial.
Britt Kane is seen in the ring, holding the Cloud Gate championship. She talks about how since winning the championship, it seems nothing has quite gone her way. People called her victory over Meg Rydell a fluke. They talked about how Ace should have, and could have, beaten her and taken the belt the next week. They talk about how Nora Foley would have been the new contender, but she left the company before the match could happen. Britt states that she feels disrespected, that her reign feels like a joke, and now here she is without an opponent for Heroes & Cons: A champion without an opponent to defend against. To remedy this, she makes an open challenge: Anybody in the locker room willing to step up against her can come out and take her on when Millennium goes to New York. There is silence for a moment. “Very Ape” by Nirvana plays through the speakers, and Britt is surprised to see Tiffany Tompkins walk down the ramp!
Tiffany hits the ring, smiling. She declares that she has taken on some big names in her short time in Millennium, and come out on top. In one of her first matches, she had beat Ace Watson, the very guy people think SHOULD be Cloud Gate Champion right now. Add to it: Tiffany couldn’t be beat in the qualifier for the Lockdown belt. She states that, as long as Chuck Matthews is willing to make the match, she will gladly take on Britt Kane for the Cloud Gate belt at Heroes & Cons. The two face each other in the ring, and the show cuts backstage.
With a half smirk on his face, Christopher Kane stands in front of a wall. It’s a bare white wall within the TD Garden in Boston. The Boston faithful get on their feet for the second generation talent that was born in their city.
Christopher Kane
Home.
A loud pop is heard after he says that.
Christopher Kane
For the first 14 years of my life or so, Boston was my home. Boston is where I was born. Boston is where I cut my teeth coming up as a pre-teen. This is the city that houses the Red Sox, the Celtics and the Bruins.
Another big cheap pop.
Christopher Kane
Boston is the city of champions. New England is the area of champions. It’s no surprise either. People like to take a dump on my family but how quickly they forget that we are rooted for the most part here in the Northeast and have become champions. Every single person in my family that has stepped foot in the ring has become a champion.
He pauses and wipes the smirk off of his face.
Christopher Kane
So far my time here in Millennium has been marred by dealing with a couple of people. We all know it. I’m not going to stand here and recap my problems. However, I will say that punching Ace Watson last week with those brass knuckles felt so great. Hitting him right in the jaw to cost him a spot in the steel cage scramble felt right. Given how Ace has gotten some of his chances here in this company, it only felt right for that same thing to cost him a match.
Christopher keeps a serious expression on his face leaning against the wall.
Christopher Kane
So, tonight, I have eyes in the back of my head because I know he’s going to be looking for revenge. I also need them for this triple threat against D’Angelo Blackwell and Aurora. Two decorated and talented wrestlers against me tonight. I’d feel overwhelmed but it’s just business as usual. Just another night of getting in that ring and getting what I can done.
Slight pause.
Christopher Kane
And, as per usual, I feel like I’m a little overlooked again. Hard to blame anyone if I was. These are two people that have made a big splash in a small amount of time. Blackwell was close to capturing our top prize here, adding another championship to his budding collection. The guy, jesus, he’s good. He’s really good at what he does. Took him facing off against my sister to take notice of what he can do and I’ve kept tabs on him since.
Another pause.
Christopher Kane
He has every right to be confident, to be cocky, because he’s shown the ability to back it up in the ring time after time. I’m not going to stand here and run this guy down because he’s made a joke or two at my expense because that’s not me. D’Angelo Blackwell is one of the guys that can carry wrestling for years to come. I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man as a wrestler.
Christopher folds his arms and keeps looking forward.
Christopher Kane
Aurora Jansen. One of the women who really got her name built off her wrestling ability for years. A woman I’ve seen tear the house down in various companies. A woman who has mentored so many people. So many people look up to her. I’ve heard her called the ‘wrestlemom’ to quite a few talents around the world.
Pause.
Christopher Kane
Another wrestler to have respect for. Another woman that’s one of the strong names in this business. Master of the DDT. Much like with D’Angelo, I feel like you’re also over looking me. It’s about the two of you almost and I’m just a third wheel in this match. Nothing new to me. Nothing is new to me in this business. Every single night my name is on a card, I heard people groaning because they have to see me. I hear people tell me I’m trash or I’m this or that because of the last name.
He shrugs.
Christopher Kane
And I honestly don’t get it. What did I do that was so bad? Was it trying to be a good wrestler? Is it my personality? I can walk away from this sport right now and really not feel bad about it anymore because of the lack of respect I get. As I’ve said before, people in this sport for less than a year get people bowing at their feet. People like me who put in hard work? I’m trash. No one loves me. I’m an island unto myself.
Christopher unfolds his arms and begins to pace around.
Christopher Kane
Tonight, I don’t know what will happen. Doesn’t matter either. No one will watch this. I’ll be skipped past for D’Angelo, Aurora, or someone’s flavor of the month that has been wrestling for a few weeks. I’m wrestling’s middle child. Always overshadowed, always ignored for the younger ones.
With that he just walks off without saying another word.
For a moment there is silence, then what sounds like a static hiss before the first swell of her theme comes up. The lights dim except for two strong white lights toward the curtain, and the bass line of her theme has obviously been augmented to seem more like an arena-wide heartbeat, a pulse of energy flowing across the audience.
We kiss...the stars.
We writhe...We are...
Aurora appears at the top of the ramp, the vid behind her on the screen showing several of her more high impact spots and counters along with all of her finishers on display, starting with the Ghostly Kiss and ending with the Carpathian Cross. Pure white crisp strobes flash over her, lighting her up from her boots to the collar of her black leather jacket, gleaming off of the decorations she's placed on it and her fingers are wrapped around the handle of her bat, Black Betty. Her glorious golden mane is still showing the ravages of being hacked off by Artemis Kaiser down in HELL, the ends of the cropped do are cleaner now though and frame her face and jawline nicely. Those amazing green eyes narrow as she twirls the bat for a moment before a soft voice breaks through the music, Aurora's voice apparently.
Voice:
We are...
The white lights on the screen go black, for a moment there is silence again then the music comes back swelling up louder than before on the downbeat of the chorus, when the word "Cold" is sung she then takes two charging steps toward the ring, stopping to raise her bat over her head. As the chorus pumps through the PA system she heads with a purpose towards the ring.
Cold, we're so cold.
We are...so cold, we're so cold.
Cold, we're so cold.
We are...so cold, we're so cold.
When she hits the ring apron she puts the bat down near the steps and seems to whisper at it to ‘stay’, then she jumps to grab the middle rope, using her momentum to bring her right up on the apron and turning to face the ramp, arms going up over her head. She then hooks one arm over the top rope and does a slow backflip into the ring before moving to the center and lifting her arms up over her head again as the white strobes light up above her to wash down over her. She plucks a microphone from her pocket and holds it up to her plush lips.
Aurora
Hello, my freaky darlings.
There’s a surprising pop from the Boston fans in the TD Garden at her low sexy voice, and she glances over at the commentary table and winks at Bea Torres before she continues.
Aurora
I’m not going to waste your time here tonight, though it’s been a good long minute since I’ve been in Boston… don’t worry, I still remember where the best bars are.
This time the cheers are mixed with laughter, and it’s clear that no matter how dangerous this woman in the ring is, the fans are open to being just a little charmed with her.
Aurora
There’s plenty on my mind that I could address, but right now I’m more interested in showing you the things I bring to the Millennium table that no one else can match. I hear you, out there, the ones that already know me and are out there right now knowing what to expect from this three way dance.
She cracks a wry smile, one corner of those plush lips tipping up higher than the other.
Aurora
Just because my freaky darlings know, doesn’t mean that your Mistress of the DDT doesn’t have a few tricks left up her sleeves.
She tosses the microphone off towards the waiting timekeeper before she shrugs off her leather jacket and steps back to take her corner, waiting on Blackwell and Kane.
Showcase Match
Aurora VS Christopher Kane VS D'Angelo Blackwell
Kane was the first to get the upper hand, taking the fight immediately to Blackwell and Aurora. D’Lo wasn’t about to give in without a fight, and within moments, the entire match had turned to a brawl. Aurora’s veteran instincts served her well, able to fend off both Chris and D’Angelo, who had formed a makeshift alliance to take on the biggest threat in the match. She was sent to the outside. As the match went on, Kane began to get the upper hand. A hard clothesline sent Aurora back to the mat as she came back into the ring. Blackwell approached from behind. Kane spun, connecting with a backfist that caught D’Lo off guard, rocking him. Kane ran in, tackling him to the gut and taking him to the ropes, where he began to hammer away. Blackwell shoved him away. As Kane came back, he was met with a HUGE right hook that took him down! D’Angelo covered. One… two… kickout by Kane. Kane threw D’Lo to the ropes. Blackwell bounced back, but was intercepted by a spinning kick from Aurora! She turned as Chris came flying in. She sent a hard kick to his gut, pulling him in for a DDT. She hits the ropes, using them to hit her signature Ghostly Kiss DDT! Aurora covers. One… two… three! WINNER: Aurora BY: Pinfall, 12:19 |
Bea Torres: “WELCOME TO MILLENNIUM!”
Jared Idol: “A huge win for Aurora in her Millennium debut!”
Zelda Gibbons: “GET IT.”
She helps Kane to his feet, and nods to D’Angelo, who shows respect to her in the form of a polite applause. Aurora looks to the fans, smirking. Before her celebration can continue, she’s clubbed in the back of the head by… Dane Archer! The Great Dane lifts her to her feet, gripping her face in his massive hand. He snarls something at her and throws her to the corner. Before Aurora can move, the big man is in the air, crushing her with an avalanche, sandwiching her into the turnbuckle. D’Angelo and Chris run in to try and make the save. Dane shoves both men away, making it clear his target is the newcomer to Millennium. He lifts Aurora in a gorilla press. Kane and Blackwell charge in, both clipping one of Archer’s legs, taking him to his knees. Aurora drops in front of him, hooking the neck and bringing Dane the rest of the way. His skull smacks the canvas with a sickening DDT. Dane rolls from the ring, clutching his face, swearing under his breath at the trio in the ring. D’Angelo and Chris look to Aurora, who looks up the ramp at Dane… and, more specifically, the woman backstage, pulling all the strings. The show cuts backstage.
Grace van Beek
Last week was quite eventful, would you not agree?
The camera catches Grace van Beek outside the Arena, standing next to her black SUV surrounded, as per usual, by her security. Including, of course, Ryen Riekert.
Grace van Beek
I achieved the unthinkable, I did what nobody thought I could do. And, that goes without saying, I overachieved. Not only I did stop the monster known as Nora Foley, not only I did beat her clean, making her scream and ultimately tap out in the middle of the ring. I made her quit. Such was the damage I inflicted that she had to walk away from the company.
A wicked smile draws on her lips.
Grace van Beek
And I feel no remorse. I cannot feel sympathy for the weaks, or for those who dare to challenge me. The message was sent, loud and clear I believe. First it was Mr Matthews, then Nora Foley. Next?
A quick glance at Ryen.
Grace van Beek
I did not forget what you did last week, Ms Jansen. Attacking one of my men is already a big enough insult. Rejecting the olive branch I extended you and refusing to apologize… That was outrageous, even from a woman of low morals as you. I understand that you are close to Mr. Matthews, and it is easy to assume you were eager to answer his call to arms, persuaded that you could have easily handled the situation, that your joining his ranks would have turned the outcome of the struggle.
She takes a small pause, running a hand through her long black hair.
Grace van Beek
But this is no riot. This is not a the personal battle of a single individual. They called it Grace van Beek's Revolution, and perhaps it is correct, to a degree. But regardless of the tag someone put on this,, what you should be worrying about is that it is already too late to stop it.
Make no mistake, you will taste my payback. When I see fit.
Ryen Riekert brings his hand to the hear, nodding as he glances at the Diamond Princess.
Ryen Riekert
Miss van Beek, team Bravo and team Charlie confirmed. The area is clear.
Grace van Beek: Thank you Mr. Riekert. We shall go soon.
One of her guards picks up her gym bag, while Grace turns her attention to the camera.
Grace van Beek
But for tonight, my focus is on my match. A preview of what will go down at Heroes and Cons, both on the performers and the outcome. I will prove Mr Matthews wrong, I will prevail, I will become the New Millennium Champion, i will set you free from the injustice system he is choking this place with.
It only takes her one nod to put Riekert and the rest of the team in motion. As they make their way to the entrance of the Arena, she keeps talking without even turning to the camera, her words fading as she drifts away.
Grace van Beek
Malone and Hawk are the past, Ms Yang is the present. I am the future, and tonight, I will provide you a glimpse of the shape of things to come.
The small group disappears through the doors, and the camera cuts to the next segment
Somewhere smack down in the middle of the border between the USA and Canada lies a city that has long since been forgotten. No one has stepped foot inside the walls for years. This once so glowing city was a capital for wrestling. The biggest stars in the world came here to prove their worth, to show they could hang with the very best that the world had to offer. But that was then. Now it was nothing more than a barren wasteland of broken down building and devoid of any signs of life. Only the wind disturbed the eerie silence that rang around the city. Much like a certain self-proclaimed king of the skies, nothing has been going for this city lately and as Jason Hawk stands outside the church with a sack slung over his shoulder he becomes the first man to enter this god forsaken city.
The dark clouds hang heavy in the sky as Jason looks up at a broken statue. A grey broken down statue that matches the tone of the rest of the city. The head and most of the torso were gone, but the arms are still thrown up towards the skies. “Are you saved?” is written into the stone by the feet of the statue. Moments pass as Jason stares up at the statue reminiscing back to those days when no one was bigger than the broken man standing in front of him. Jason spits at the feet of the statue as he walks past it towards the huge front door of the church.
The glimmer and glitz that once surrounded this sacred place had long since faded and sun no longer shun through the windows. Walking down the aisle a sense Jason heads straight towards a larger door at the back of the room. The Hall of the Immortals stood over the door, though some letters were missing. Flipping the switch, the so-called Hall of Immortals slowly illuminates. Inside there are more doors each one with a painting hanging above of the Immortals. Jason looks around the men and women on the paintings. Friend and foe there they all hang. Each one unique in their own way though they all had one thing in common. Everyone from Aaron O’Shea to The Notorious K.I.D to Shadow Demon to Nick Ridicule. They had all been forgotten, replaced and moved on.
Jason stops as he passes a familiar long-haired smirking face. The man had changed during the years and didn’t exactly still look like he did on the painting. But the sinister smile was still the same. Perhaps he was the only one stood out among the rest. Though he was an amazing athlete and an even smarter wrestler during his peak it wasn’t that which made him stand out. He was the only one among the paintings who wasn’t forgotten. But here he was, among the fallen warriors, Chuck Matthews.
Jason himself hung next to Chuck. Though Jason still looked very much the same as he did when he had the picture painted, the painting itself hadn’t aged too well. Jason didn’t pay any mind to it, in fact it wasn’t something that he even noticed. As tempting as it was to enter his own hall it wasn’t what he was here for. No, Jason had something very different in mind. Looking one last time at the two men who once upon a time were known as Apex he turns looking for a specific painting.
It didn’t take long before Jason found the painting he was looking for. He had mentioned the man on Millennium TV before and now he was looking at him. His dread locks covered his face as he looked down. He proudly wore his torn leather jacket as a sign of the many wars he had fought and won.
So, it was written
So, it shall come to pass
Quote the Lord.
Stood written beneath his painting. This was the most violent man Jason had ever come across. Never would Jason ever admit to looking to him for inspiration but to punish those who had abandoned him he couldn’t imagine anyone else who could help him. So here he was looking at the painting of the Lord Corey Casey. Jason grabbed the cold door handle and he could feel the cold shoot through his entire body. He took a deep breath. He knows that when he stepped into the hall of Corey Casey there was no turning back. The Jason Hawk of old would be gone and he would be reborn as a violent psychopath with no actual remorse for anyone. He never intended for any of this, but now it had to be done and he stepped through the door.
Title belts, memorabilia and pictures were hanging all over the walls, but it didn’t interest Jason. He wasn’t here to remember the past or hang onto something that was long forgotten. No, he was only here for one thing. Something that only a mad man like Corey Casey could stash away among his dearest of belongings. And there they were, raised up on a pedestal. Jason grabbed the items, the Lord’s tools of destructions, his instruments of pain. On many occasions had been on the receiving end of the items he now for the first time held in his hands and a small smile appeared on his face as he thought about using it himself for a change. Jason puts the items in the sack and leaves hall of Corey Casey as a changed man. Jason had never been one of God’s greatest children, but he was now a worse man than he was before. There was no doubt in his mind that there was no coming back from what he was about to bring to the Millennium. For the first time in his career he had gone past the point of no return.
Jason Hawk
Forgive me.
Jason mumbles to himself as the cat-o-nine tails that the Millennium had gotten used to was no longer needed.
The screen comes to life with an image of a darkened hallway. The camera rushes towards a solitary figure sitting atop one of the metal containers near the gorilla position that is emblazoned with the MENTV logo. The glow of a lamp over the soundboard provides enough illumination to reveal long blonde hair as the figure leans forward, folding her arms over the briefcase resting on her knees.
Nessa Wall
I'm sure you all heard that ego-stroking tripe spilling from D'lo Blackwell's mouth last week.
She sighs, rolling her eyes.
Nessa Wall
He's a magnet. For championships. As if they just fall into his lap with no effort – perhaps that's true in other companies. I have no doubt it is. But this… sweetie, this is Millennium. This is a company that was forged from the ashes, a company that rose triumphant like a phoenix to become the place everyone wants to work. This isn't a place that's going to pander to you in any way, shape or form. You know that, don't you? Well, if it hasn't begun to sink in yet after your dismal failure against Jennifer last week, I'm sure it will soon enough. As long as I'm in possession of this case… you won't see gold in this company.
She pauses to let that sink in.
Nessa Wall
It occurs to me that I'm treading on thin ice with some of you. I hear the whispers. I hear the boo birds in the crowd. I know I've let you down because I promised so many things when I signed my contract here. I'd promised you a revolution; I promised to reinvent wrestling as you know it. I promised to make myself known here, didn't I? You'd think that beating Ace Watson would have been enough. You'd think that improving the quality of shows since then would be something – I get no respect.
She pauses, leaning back into the shadows.
Nessa Wall
I told you I had things to say. More promises to make, perhaps? So, you want to know my agenda… don't you? Of course you do. Those who know me won't be stupid enough to ask the question that's merely rhetorical. I never show my cards. Ever.
Another soft laugh fills the silence and that devilish smirk appears on her lips.
Nessa Wall
Everything I do has been premeditated up to this point – should be a given. I do not act on impulses. I have a plan and you'll just have to wait and see what happens, just like the rest of them.
The smirk fades.
Nessa Wall
I am the one you should be watching. Not your contenders and champions like Ace Watson or Kate Steele or Jennifer Yang or D'lo Blackwell. Not your returning fan favourites like Aurora and Melissa Reeves. Sure, I'm excited to have them here, but all eyes should remain on the woman who matters most, the one woman with the power to ruin the hopes and dreams of every one of you in this locker room. It might do you good to remember that when the time comes. After all, hell hath no fury like the woman scorned.
Main Event
Jennifer Yang (c) VS Grace van Beek VS Gray Malone VS Jason Hawk
Grace van Beek stood in the ring, flanked as usual by her security detail and Dane Archer, who seemed to have recovered from his failed attack on Aurora Jansen earlier in the night. Across the ring, Jennifer Yang, with Ho Wei Shen standing at ringside, observing the action and making stern eye contact with Grace; the two had come to an agreement on twitter. Grace could have her security present… but Jennifer was to be left alone. The same could not be said for Gray Malone and Jason Hawk. As Jason made his way to the ring, Grace nodded her orders. Riekert signaled, and a squad of men stormed from the back, attacking Jason from behind. Jason swung back, but Grace’s security began stomping him out on the ramp. Gray emerged from the back, holding his signature baseball bat. He swung, cracking one of the guards over the skull and knocking him out cold! The remaining men turned their attention to him, beating him down, cracking police batons into his ribs and across his spine, beating him into the ramp as well. Around the ring, Riekert’s personal force steps in, forming a wall behind van Beek. She walks forward, facing Jenni in the center of the ring. Wei Shen stands at ringside, watching intently. Riekert hands Grace a microphone. She slowly raises it, staring Jennifer in the eyes. Grace van Beek Choose your side wisely. WINNER: N/A BY: Cancellation, 0:00 |
Grace signals to her crew, and they exit the ring, heading back up the ramp. Jason and Gray struggle to stand, only for Grace’s security to send another hard kick to them to keep them down. The show ends as Grace reaches the top of the ramp, signaling to Jenni that the championship would be hers soon. The show fades to a promotional logo for Heroes & Cons.
Bea Torres: “I’m…. I’m not sure what we just saw here.”
Jared Idol: “Grace van Beek is escalating, that’s what’s going on. She’s hijacked shows, she’s destroyed stars, cancelled matches… Grace has had enough of Chuck Matthews, and she’s slowly dismantling his empire, show by show.”
Bea Torres: “In two weeks, she finds herself locked in combat with the Millennium Championship on the line… and the way things have been going in recent weeks, she may wind up taking it.”
Jared Idol: “Madison Square Garden, New York City… we’ll see you in two weeks.”
