1x27 HAEC ORNAMENTA MEA I
The Principal’s Office
April 29, 2021
10:01 AM
Regular as clockwork, the Millennium General Manager Elsa McCarthy showed up at the scheduled appointment with Gian at the Academy dressed to the nines in an impeccable blue pantsuit. The reasons for her visit haven’t been revealed yet, but with the Academy year coming to a close and the students moving to the main roster, it’s safe to assume it had something to do with contract talking.
The mystery was revealed one minute later when the door opened, anticipated by a light knock. On the frame was the former Cloud Gate champion Tiff Rollins.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Please, come in.
He invited the 21 years old to take a seat next to the young General Manager, not before they both greeted her with a handshake.
Elsa McCarthy:
It’s a pleasure to see you again, Tiff. Gianluigi was just telling me about the progress you made since joining the Academy.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
It’s been a long and bumpy road, but I think we can both agree this proved to be the right choice for you.
The Principal smiled at Tiffany, speaking calmly as he noticed the look of confidence on her face.
Tiff:
I think so too. I’m just sorry it took so long...
Gian nodded in approval, but it was Elsa who stepped in to reply.
Elsa McCarthy:
That’s the reason why I came here today. As I’m sure you remember, almost one year ago I told you that the doors will always be open for your return in Millennium, and I meant what I said. Of course, you’re not bound by any contract and you’re free to take your talents wherever you see fit, but it will be an honor for us to have you back.
Cutting straight to the point, Elsa reaches inside her bag to retrieve some papers.
Elsa McCarthy:
I brought with me a new contract, read it and let me know what you think.
Tiff couldn’t contain her eagerness anymore. After such a hard year and a half, she’s feeling confident enough to take that all important next big step in her journey back into the ring.
Tiff:
Thank you.
Just as she was about to take the papers from her however, the meeting was interrupted by a brief rap on the door. Faith Savell wasted no time at all in entering, looking around the room she holds a hand over her mouth.
Faith:
Ooops, did I interrupt?
Before anyone can respond she carries on talking.
Faith:
Oh, I see Tiff is here so whatever it was, it Clearly wasn’t important. Anyway, Gian, I wanted to talk to you about my future with Millennium and what we can do to ensure that I enter the company with the best possible record I can have. So, since you offered Olly a chance to earn himself a shot? I’d like the same opportunity. Unlike OTHER people I could mention, I didn’t come here to be handed anything. But I can beat miss BAE and being a double gold star champion would be a pretty big deal.
Tiff was taken back by all of this. First of all, the nerve to interrupt what was an incredibly meaningful moment was enough for her to grind her teeth. Secondly, the audacity to get into Gian’s face, even almost blanking the Millennium General Manager herself while doing so. Finally, after so many months of harassment, both physically and mentally, Tiffany finally stood up for herself.
Tiff:
Faith…
Faith didn’t even turn around to acknowledge her at first.
Tiff:
Honestly why am I not surprised? This is the kind of bullshit I’ve had to deal with since being here. No matter where I go, no matter what I do, no matter how hard I try to pick myself back up, you’re always there to try and pull me back down.
She takes the paperwork from Elsa, who calmly steps away along with Gian as Tiff approaches Faith, forcing her to look at her.
Tiff:
But you know what? Despite everything that you’ve done to me, I still have this. I’ve worked my ass off for so long now, and quite frankly, I’m done dealing with this...
Faith snatches the paperwork away from Tiff and looks it over. She laughs and rolls her eyes as she holds it away from her.
Faith:
You want a sticker for getting a basic contract? Basic contract for a basic bitch. Honestly the only people excited to see you back in that ring are either related to you, or fucking you.
Tiff:
Give that back you fucking bitch!
That was quite enough. Before this incident turns into a full-on fight, the authority figures stepped in. Gian stood up from his chair and, for a fleeting moment, lost his proverbial calm.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Enough!
The tone of his voice was higher than usual, and he slammed the palm of his hand on the desk to get the attention of the two young women. As soon as their eyes turned on him, he adjusted his tie and cleared his throat, regaining his usual composure.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
In case you didn't notice, your future boss is in this room and let me tell you, neither of you is making a good impression.
His eyes shifted from Tiffany to Faith and then to the contract in Savell's hand. He didn't need to say another word, the former Gold Star knew exactly what he was expecting her to do and handed the contract back to Tiff, without even looking in her direction. Gian nodded his head.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Much better. Now, Faith, you want the same opportunity I promised Olly? You want me to add you to the Gold Star match at Hic Sunt Leones? Is that why you stole the pin and the shot from him last week? That's ruthless…
Faith smiled as Gian, almost forgetting Tiff was there and she nodded her head, clearly happy to be called ruthless.
Faith Savell:
There’s no friends of fealty in wrestling, I’ve learned that now and I want to prove to Everyone that I’m the best in the academy. Fair’s fair, after all…
Gian listened carefully to her words, not showing any emotion on his face.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
I don’t necessarily agree with your view of the industry, but you do make a good point though. I’ll get the paperworks ready, the Gold Star match will be a triple threat…
While Faith was understandably pleased with this outcome, Tiff was not so much. In fact, before Faith could proudly strut away, Tiff stepped in, not to address Gian though...
Tiff:
Miss McCarthy…
Clearly addressing the General Manager, who remained silent as everything unfolded before her.
Tiff:
...about this contract…
Faith visibly rolls her eyes. She clearly has no desire to stick around anymore, but something that Tiff said next did actually prick her ears up.
Tiff:
...does it say how soon I can come back?
Elsa seemed surprised. Not much at the question itself, she obviously knew the answer, but more at the way Tiffany asked. There was a fire in her eyes, one that had not been seen burning in a long time.
Elsa McCarthy:
There’s no date for a first match, that’s something we can discuss. But the contract comes into effect at the end of your time here at the Academy, which will be Friday 14th. Any time after that date will be good.
Tiff:
In that case…
That’s when Tiff turned back to Faith, getting right into her face. She looked up at her, and although Faith tried her best to look disinterested, she too knew exactly what was coming.
Tiff:
Gold Star or not, I want Faith to be my first opponent.
The tension filled the air as everyone but Tiffany looked surprised by this request.
Tiff:
I don’t care when, I don’t care where, but I’ve never been more ready for anything in my whole life.
Faith rolled her eyes again, looking back to Gian once more she smiled again.
Faith Savell:
Thank you for hearing me out and for being fair as always, I won’t disappoint.
She then turns to eye Tiff, she looks as though she’s about to say something when instead, she holds up her hand and flips Tiffany off. Faith then turns on her heels and walks out, refusing to give Tiff an answer. Tiff just stands there until the door is slammed shut behind her, sucking all the tension out of the room. Calming herself down, Tiff turns back to the two authority figures before her.
Tiff:
Sorry about that…
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
No need to apologize.
Gian quickly replied with a soft smile, before turning toward Elsa.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
See, Elsa? I told you that she’s ready, both physically and mentally.
And again, he smiled at Tiffany. He wasn’t upset or anything about her recent outburst. If anything, he took it for a sign that the former champion truly found that old fighting spirit that had motivated her in the first part of her career. Realizing this, Tiff gave a smile back, acknowledging that he was right.
Elsa McCarthy:
I’m glad to see it.
The Millennium General manager said, extending her hand to Tiff who quickly shook it.
Elsa McCarthy:
I’m sorry but I really have to go now, I’m working on such a tight schedule, it’s draining. But I’ll be in touch soon, and we can run through the last details. Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to call me.
Tiffany nodded, and Elsa then addressed Gian.
Elsa McCarthy:
Thank you for your time, Gianluigi. And once again, congratulations. I admit I was a bit skeptical when you first introduced us the concept of the Academy, but I gladly admit I was wrong. You have a great thing here, apparently not just for rookies either.
Gianluigi Vaccaro:
Thank you, Elsa.
The GM then took leave, followed by Tiff moments later. Now alone in his office, Gian sat back behind his desk and went back to his paperworks.
