The Gym April 20, 2021 5:45 PM
Seeing Gianluigi Vaccaro out of his office was a rare sight. And whenever he did that, it was to meet his fiancee and trainer at The Academy Tobie Nox Thorne in the gym. The principal was showing her something on the phone, the two of them chatting and sharing opinions on whatever he was showing. Their moment was interrupted as a sweaty Olly who interrupted his training to talk with Gian.
Olly: I was meaning to come to your office, Gian. But since you're here..
He had that cocky smile on his face. Clearly, waiting and going to the office wouldn't have changed much, but Olly was never one to follow protocol. And the chance to annoy the principal in one of the few moments he'd take for his family was too good to pass on. Gian nodded at Tobie who didn't need him to say a word. She knew the students were the priority and despite being irritated that Olly intentionally choose this moment to have a talk with her husband-to-be, she left the two men alone, focuinsg on the little group of students training not far from where she was standing.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Odd place for a discussion, most people would prefer to have their conversations behind closed doors.
Olly: I'm not most people.
He replied as he finished wiping off the sweat from his face with a towel he tossed on the floor.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: That much we can agree on. You're an interesting kid, Oliver, I give you that.
Gian replied with his usual calmness.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: I have a feeling I know what you're about to ask me.
Olly: Then I'm sure you have an answer for me, Gian.
They were referring to a conversation between Olly and Karen Eldon following his big win against Faith Savell on episode 25. In that exchange, the woman who throughout the whole year looked particularly invested in The Academy's, especially when it came to Olly, stated how he would deserve a Grade A contract.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: I do, and I must admit that win over Faith, although morally questionable, was impressive.
Everything about his demeanor was suggesting that there was a but.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: But I believe it's not enough to grant you a Gold Star opportunity. Too little too late, we could say.
Olly laughed and he was about to tell Gian how much he disagreed with him, probably in a way he would wind up regretting. Before he could make his situation worse though, Gian continued.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: Since day one, I tried to figure you out, to understand what kind of agenda you were following, Olly. You never cared about titles, or pay-per-view spots. You lost on purpose on your first appearance PPV appearance, you refused any shot at the Gold Star.. I wonder what changed...
Oliver shrugged his shoulders, not giving him the answer he asked for.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: You know what? I'll play ball. Prove me that you really want it, fight your match on Friday without any shenanigan, get the decisive pin on any of your opponents and I'll change the match into a triple threat.
Olly stared at the principal for a long moment before nodding lightly.
Olly: Sounds good to me, bossman.
And with that said, he turned around and left the gym without a thank you. Gian watched him as he walked away, soon joined by his future wife.
Gianluigi Vaccaro: That kid has so much potential. I can only hope he doesn't lose himself in whatever web he's weaving.
Tobie didn't say a word, leaving Gian with his thoughts. She simply slipped under his arm and leaned against his side, leaving him to his thoughts.
Tag Team Match
Tiana Petrova-Hammond & Trinity Thompson VS Rian Ellis & Cash Blye
- Trinity and Cash started the match for the respective teams. Trin put Blye in a headlock and wrenched back. Cash though quickly threw punches to her midsection to loosen the hold. She then pushed Thompson against the ropes and connected a picture perfect standing dropkick.
- Blye picked the opponent up and sent her into the corned with an irish whip, followed by a jumping knee to the face. Tag to Rian who slingshotted himself inside the ring with a dropkick.
- Ellis remained in control, delivering some swift kicks to the blue haired opponent. Another irsih whip saw Trinity bouncing off into a back body drop she countered with a sunset flip into a pin. Rian kicked out in two.
- Thompson finally found her footing, taking Rian to the mat with a snapmare and delivering a hard kick to the spine.
- Tiana entered the ring after the tag from her best friend, and she immediately introduced her knee to Rian's face. The young man went down and the Mixed Martial Artist rushed to make the cover. Ellis raised his shoulder in two.
- Mindful of their previous encounters, Tiana kept Rian grounded, using her BJJ knowledge to slow down the pace.
- She caught Rian in a standing arm triangle choke, locking him in tightly. Rian soon started fading, desperately fighting the urge to tap out. With the last bit of energy, he ran toward the corner and slammed Tiana into it. Twice, until she let him go. He stumbled toward his corner where Cash was waiting for the tag, but Petrova-Hammond recovered in time to grab him by the arm and stop him before he could reach his partner.
- After a brief exchange, Rian connected an enziguri and finally got rid of Ti. Nobody was in his way now, and he eventually tagged Cash in.
- Blye floored the former Gold Star with a running forearm strike, making a cover with a springboard moonsault. Thompson made the save.
- Trinity was back in the ring, tying up again with Cash. Thomspon twisted her arm behind her back. Blye delivered a couole of sharp elbows to the face and broke free. She instantly sprung off the ropes and came back with a running single high knee. Trinity stumbled on her feet in a daze, and Cash followsed up with a sit out face buster.
- Cash and Rian worked well together, isolating Trinity in their corner. Ellis planted Thompson with a brainbuster and hooked the leg, but Trin kicked out in two.
- Cash' frog splash missed the target. This was the opportunity for Trinity to make the tag. She turned to Tiana, the two girls just staring at each other and then the Russian-American retracted her hand, whispering "You got this".
- Sprinting at the ropes, Trinity hit the kneeling opponent with a single leg dropkick. She made the cover and got a count of two.
- She tried again with a running swinging neckbreaker, this time it was Rian who made the save,
- Third time is a charm for Thompson, who picked up the win with the tribute to her sister Tiff, connecting the Death Kick after a series of five shoot kicks to the chest. Tiana made sure Ellis couldn't break it up this time.
WINNER: Trinity Thompson $ Tiana Petrova-Hammond BY: Pinfall (Superkick), 12:54 |
Team Title Match Trios MatchTeam Strike © (Faith Savell & JJ Night & Olly) VS Team Ali (Millie Smith & Faizah Marshall & Dez Ali)
- For the first time, the Team Titles were on the line in a trios match. And the team couldn't be any more awlward. Faith was teaming with her ex boyfriend and ex best friend, Millie found herself torn between the first person who took her under his protective wing and her closest friend, the Gold Star Faizah Marshall.
- Olly started the match with a determination and focus we rarely saw from him. The stipulation added by Gian seemed to be the right incentive for him. He hammered at Dez with a flurry of forearm strikes and kicks to the sides before he lifted him with a forearm suplex.
- Ali's reaction was almost immediate, clocking Olly with a roundhouse kick. The cover attempt only got him a count of one, so he picked the opponent up and applied a side headlock. Olly delivered a punch to the ribs forcing him to loosen the grip, then dropped him down with a belly to back suplex.
- Faith extended her hand toward him, ready to put their differences aside and work together. Olly, instead, would rather make the tag to JJ.
- JJ ducked a clothesline from Dez and doubled him over with a back kick to the stomach. Quickly turning around, Night, dropped him on his head with an implant ddt.
- Rather than capitalize on it, JJ let Dez recover and turned his attention on Faizah. He wanted to square up with the Gold Star. Olly and Faith for once were on the same page and tried to make him change his mind, to no avail. The tag was made and the Best At Everything entered the ring.
- Fast paced, back and forth action characterised the following minutes. If it was of any indication of what we will see at Hic Sunt Leones, with the potential addition of Olly in the mix, we're definitely in for a treat.
- JJ obtained a two count with a beautiful headscissors takedown followed by a low dropkick and a standing moonsault to put himself in position to make the cover. Faizah got close to the win with a springboard cutter.
- The Gold Star made the tag to her best friend, and Millie entered the ringing, bringing her speed and agility into the match. Stealing a page from Luna, the young Smith connected a beautiful running spanish fly.
- The pace and the momentum of the match changed when Faith entered the ring. Her priority was to limit Millie's speed and keep her away from her partners with several holds and her perfectly executed suplexes.
- After obtaining a near fall with a bridging german suplex, Faith went for her trademark northern lights suplex, but Millie surprised her with a cradle. Savell kicked out in two but received a kick to the chest as she was getting up, followed by a running meteora. Millie made the tag to Dez, who quickly hooked the leg after an elbow drop to the former Gold Star.
- Ali was on fire tonight, delivering a quick boxing combination to Faith. The final uppercut caused her to stumble back toward the ropes, where Olly was waiting to take the tag.
- The rivalry between them was reignited in the final moments of the match. Stiff closed punches felw back and forth between them, none of them listening to the referee trying to do his job. This dirty brawling style was definitely more up Olly's alley, the member of Team Strike picked the opponent over his shoulders in a fireman's carry position and dropped him into a knee strike.
- Dez was down, Olly was three seconds away from a title match at Hic Sunt Leones. But then the unexpected happened. Behind his shoulders, Faith leaned forward and tagged herself in, finally getting her payback from the events of the past weeks and stealing the pin from Olly.
- He was obviously shocked, and you could tell that he was considering breaking up the pin. But when he saw Faizah and Millie entering the ring, his instinct kicked in and he turned around to stop them.
- As the bell sounded and team Strike was declared the winner, Olly didn't look happy. At all.
