The Gym

The weekend should be a time to relax and recover. A couple of days between an exhausting week at the Academy and one who will most likely be just as exhausting. That wasn’t the case with Tiff Rollins, what was meant to be a fun and chill weekend to celebrate her 21st birthday started with the wrong foot with a shocking and somewhat disturbing discovery on Friday, the consequences of which affected her mood in the following days.
This new week started just as badly with more drama. First Karen and Faith rubbing salt in the wound, then Faizah questioning the nature of her relationship with Trinity, or rather what Trin’s true motives were hinting, without mincing words, that the blue haired girl might have a romantic interest in the former Cloud Gate champion.
As things were getting pretty bad, it was once again Trinity who offered a way out, asking Tiff to meet her in the gym to “kick stuff.” By the time Thompson got there, her friend was already geared up and blowing off some steam, hitting the heavy sack with quick and hard kicks, closer for force and precision to those that allowed her to set the longest title reign in MWE history.
Trinity Thompson:
Karen, Faith or Faizah?
She nodded at the bag as she walked up behind Tiff’s shoulders.
Trinity Thompson:
Whenever I come here to practice kicks, I picture the bag as someone I want to hurt… It’s been Faith for a looooong time, but I guess it could be Miss Gold Star today...
As Trin approached her friend, Tiff let out one last wild kick for good measure. That one last kick was enough to demonstrate the frustration that she’s been feeling recently. It was also the last kick that she had in her. There’s no telling how long she was at it before Trinity arrived, but after that kick, she plummeted to her knee. She was exhausted.
Tiff:
I’d rather not say…
She had much more control with her breathing as she did when she first joined the Academy, but Tiff was clearly tired. That comment could have meant any of the three women mentioned, but judging from the tone of her voice, it could have meant someone else…
Tiff:
Sorry I started earlier. Couldn’t keep it in anymore…
As Tiffany dropped seated on the floor, visibly spent, Trinity softly smiled down at her and handed her a bottle of water. She then stepped in and began to kick the bag with a similar intensity to the one shown by the former Cloud Gate champion.
Trinity Thompson:
No need to apologize, I get it. Sometimes it just gets too much to handle, those three have a way to bring out the worst from people.
A quick glance back at her friend, and a recollection of a quick exchange on Twitter from the day before planted the seed of doubt in the young girl’s mind. Could there be something else bothering her? Needing an answer to that question, Trinity stopped kicking the bag and asked her friend directly.
Trinity Thompson:
What’s wrong, Tiff? Something happened this past weekend?
Even despite how close the two had become, Tiff was understandably hesitant to answer. Instead, she tried her best to cover herself up, as she would often do at the times when she’s most vulnerable.
Tiff:
It’s nothing. Just focus on your kicks. You got a big match coming up…
The way she dodged the question was the most clear answer she could give. There was no way Trinity would be able to focus on herself now that she knew for a fact that something was bothering her friend. She sat down, next to the former Cloud Gate champion, and placed her hand on the blonde girl’s shoulder.
Trinity Thompson:
Big match? I couldn’t care less about teaming with Faizah. But I care about you…
Trinity sighed, the sight of her friend distraught was something she couldn’t stand.
Trinity Thompson:
I know you’re not big on the whole “showing your emotions” deal, but you can talk to me. If you want, of course… Is it because of Faith and Coen?
Those names garnered a slight twitch from Tiff; something that Trin did not miss. Instead, Tiff dodged the question again, although her efforts to contain herself were much more visible.
Tiff:
What? No… Like why would that bother me?
She suddenly sprung back to her feet. She may still be exhausted, but she’s willing to do anything to change the subject.
Tiff:
If you ain’t gonna practice those kicks then I will…
Trinity rolled her eyes, watching as Tiff went back to practicing. But of course, she didn’t drop the subject.
Trinity Thompson:
Look, Tiff, I get it. It’s a lot to take in and it’s the most awkward situation… Maybe now that she has a boyfriend, Faith will be less of a bitch.. From what you told me, Coen is a good guy. Maybe he can be a good influence on her.
She probably didn’t believe the words she was saying, but she tried to sound as convinced, and convincing, as possible. All that mattered now was that Tiff could consider the option she was presenting, hoping it could somehow make her feel better.
Trinity Thompson:
He seemed happy, and she did too.. Maybe it’s not a bad thing, that’s what I’m saying.
Another wicked whack to the punching bag and Tiff stopped herself again, this time not out of exhaustion, but out of frustration. She suddenly swung back at Trin, who instinctively backed up as Tiff let out a chink in her suit of armor.
Tiff:
They can go fuck themselves for all I care…
Tiff instantly realized what she just said and crumbled back down to the floor. Dropped to her knees before her friend, she could no longer keep her feelings bottled in.
Tiff:
I’m sorry… I’m really sorry…
Trin joined her on the floor as she let out a different kind of steam.
Tiff:
Poor Asher had to put up with this all weekend. He’s probably sick of my shit, and I don’t blame him. I just don’t know how to deal with this. I mean… Of all the people that Faith could have ended up with, why did it have to him? As if him going out with Luna wasn’t bad enough… And now this? Why does everyone have to find new ways to fucking hurt me?
Seeing that reaction from her friend was an authentic blow to the heart of Trinity. If until now she somehow showed some restraint, she could no longer hold back, and threw her arms around the former champion, pulling her in a warm hug. It was hard to find the right words in this situation, more so knowing that the cameras were rolling and picking up this moment. Something Tiffany probably forgot about.
Trinity Thompson:
I get it… I really do…
Trinity’s hand was now patting Tiffany’s back as she tried to comfort her.
Trinity Thompson:
I’m sure Asher understands how hard this is for you.. Maybe he is mad and tired, we all are… But it’s definitely not your shit he’s sick of. Did you two… have a fight?
She barely whispered that last question, hoping the cameras wouldn’t pick it up. The response was even more quiet, but it was faint enough for the cameras to pick up.
Tiff:
I don’t wanna say…
The response sounded quite pathetic, almost an uncharacteristic whimper from the former Cloud Gate champion. Moments passed and Trinity didn’t say a thing, limiting to holding her friend. You could tell though, that a lot of thoughts were racing through her mind.
Trinity Thompson:
It’s ok…
She said with a nod, slowly breaking the hug.
Trinity Thompson:
I just had an idea… Why don’t you come with me this weekend? I got some stuff to take care of back home since I’ll be definitely moving after graduation and I can use some company…
Realizing how odd the request sounded, she quickly added.
Trinity Thompson:
I swear it’s NOT like that… Faizah is a dumb bitch just for suggesting that I… You… Well, you know what I mean. I just mean as friends, a little fun trip to leave all this crap behind for a day or two. You deserve a break after all this.
Wiping a tear from her face, Tiff gave Trin a weak smile. She didn’t seem to care about the rumors that Faizah was trying to spread, she just felt so sorry for herself that didn’t wanna risk upsetting her boyfriend again.
Tiff:
You know… I think I’d like that.
Trinity looked surprised at first, she was probably expecting a different answer, or at least that it would have been more difficult to convince her friend. But that expression quickly shifted into one of pure joy, a wide smile spreading on her lips.
Trinity Thompson:
We’re going to have fun, I promise that. Definitely a trip you won’t forget!
There it was again, her characteristic enthusiasm. She slowly got up to her feet and extended both hands toward Tiffany, to help her up.
Trinity Thompson:
We can leave after the show, or in the morning… I’ll check the flights tonight and we can decide… But now… KICKS!
As Trin helped Tiff back to her feet, she gave her another comforting pat on the shoulder before turning to the punching bag. As Trin went on to begin her own kicking session, Tiff took a moment to wipe what was left of the tears off her face and take a sip from her bottle of water, although before joining Trin for further practice, the cameras picked up a look of suspicion on Tiff’s face. Tiff clearly knew that something was up, but that brief look on her face was only moment where she’d ever show it.
The Classroom
April 15, 2021
4:00 PM
Thursday afternoon, the classes are long done and most of the students are in the gym for the individual training sessions. Not Trinity Thompson though, the blue haired girl is heading back to the classroom. As she opens the door, she finds her tag partner Millie waiting for her. Millie looks impatient and perhaps a bit anxious too, twiddling her yoyo string as she looks outside the window.
Trinity Thompson:
Hey Millie… I got your message, what’s up?
She says as she steps toward her, closing the door behind her shoulders.
Millie Smith:
Trin. I thought we could catch up a little with what's happened... recently.
Millie continues speaking as she's unaware of anything going on behind her.
Millie Smith:
It caught me off guard, I've never seen that side of you and….
That's when Faiz shows up behind Millie. Faizah simply glares at the woman who she is forced to team with. Millie, not yet aware of Faiz or noticed Trinity's eyes have come off her and peer around her blonde head of hair.
Millie Smith:
It made me worry. You and Faiz have to work together on Friday-
Just as Millie was about to complete her thought, Faizah interjects.
Faizah Marshall:
What needs to happen Millie is Trinity needs to apologize for threatening my well being.
Faizah sneers at Trinity.
Faizah Marshall:
Go ahead, Trin. I’m waiting!
Trinity isn't happy with this situation. Not in the slightest. Her eyes move from Faizah to Millie, then back again on the Gold Star.
Trinity Thompson:
Apologize? You want me to apologize?
She chuckles, shaking her head.
Trinity Thompson:
Fine, you’re right. I owe an apology. I owe an apology to Millie, to Tiana, to all the other students and the fans watching. I need to apologize for helping you winning the Gold Star, because we all know that if I didn’t play Tiffany’s music, you would never have beaten Faith.
Not quite the apology Faizah was expecting, or the one she asked for, but before the Original BAE can reply, Trinity cuts her off.
Trinity Thompson:
That’s the only thing I need to apologize for. I thought that Faith was bad, that she was the greatest bitch… I thought that you were far, far better than her. But since getting that title around your waist, you changed and turned into an even bigger cunt.
Faizah’s eyes look like they want to bulge out of their socket. She balls up her fist, giving the impression she wants to drop Trinity where she stands. One slight problem. Millie is the only person standing between her and Trinity so Faizah closes her eyes. Takes a deep breath.
Millie Smith:
Maybe we can avo-
Faizah Marshall:
Don’t act like you did me any favors, Trinity. Playing Tiffs music wasn’t about me or anyone else in the Academy like you claimed. Your little act of heroism was all about Tiff and we both know it. Did you think about confessing when Tiff was sent home? How much did you give a damn when most people under sun actually believed Tiff had something to do with it. When my name was dragged under the mud, did you come to my defense? Hell, did you come to my defense at all? No. The only reason you confessed was because Faith badgered the woman you have the hots for. Don’t stand here, call me a cunt, when you are just as selfish as the rest of us you love sick puppy!
Trinity Thompson:
Back--
Faizah Marshall:
SHUT UP!
Millie Smith:
Guys...
As much as Millie tried, Faizah continued.
Faizah Marshall:
I have held this in for weeks! Trinity. I hate what you did. I wanted to beat Faith on my own. Because of your selfish actions Faith runs around with a goddamn excuse. I would have rather lost again than deal with her pretending my win wasn’t legit. At least Faith is an honest bitch. You are the one who refuses to own up to the truth. Tell Tiff you love her! Go ahead. Do it. Confess, Trinity. Am I making you mad? Huh! Fight me. I’m standing right here. I’ll give you a free shot bitch!
Faizah walks around Millie. She stands right in front of her. Now there is no barrier between the two women. Everything in Trinity’s demeanor suggests that she’s about to take action. She clenches and unclenches her fist, the look in her eyes is that of someone who has reached the limit. A quick glance at Millie, who’s definitely uncomfortable in a situation she created, even though she was expecting would go in a very different direction, seems to calm her down. Enough not to strike Faizah down, at least.
Trinity Thompson:
You have no idea why I did it, or even what you’re talking about. Shut the hell up before I knock you on your ass, Faizah.
Millie shuts her eyes briefly and opens up once she realizes fists haven't been thrown but seeing her friends trade sharp words is hard for her to stand there and be witness to.. Thompson takes a step back, trying to defuse the situation before things escalate to physical violence. But verbally, she wasn’t going to back down.
Millie Smith:
Please don't f-
Trinity Thompson:
You have no right to judge me, you know NOTHING about my life. NOTHING! And you, of all people, have no moral ground to speak. Or are we going to ignore what you did to JJ? You’re a disgrace to that title.
Surprisingly Faizah temperature doesn’t rise when Trinity accuses her of being a disgrace to the championship. She chuckles instead, while Millie tries to move a little closer, pulling on her sleeve.
Millie Smith:
Can't we just-
Faizah Marshall:
This is funny. Truly is. Talking about me being a disgrace when you coming to Tiff’s rescue cast a shadow on the first Academy match outside of MWE walls. What you did was fine, right? All for the sake of getting in Tiffs pants? What I did to JJ was justice! He was a jerk to me when I was on Team Strike. Him and Faith. Don’t care what name he goes by, he never paid for making my time on that team hell. Yes. I sabotaged our championship match. He didn’t deserve to compete with me with a pay per view audience watching. I took that from him. Does that make me a cunt? So be it! I’m an honest one, unlike you!
Faizah turns her back to Trinity to see Millie standing there. She notices that Millie is uncomfortable with the entire exchange between two of her best friends. The Gold Star Champion rests her hand on Millie’s shoulder. Tilting her head to the side, Faizah continues.
Faizah Marshall:
We wouldn’t have this heat between us Trinity if you were honest about your feelings for Tiff. If you had gotten your crush out of your system; you would not have played Tiff’s music. There wouldn’t be a shadow over my victory. Tiff would not have gotten sent home. Who knows, our friendship might have survived. I am not going to stand here and listen to a liar call me a disgrace. All you had to do was confess, Trin. We wouldn’t be here if you were honest about your feelings.
Faizah nods to Millie. She turns right about to give her full attention to her tag team partner. Trinity hesitates. You can see she wants to say something, but for some reasons she’s holding back.
Trinity Thompson:
You have some balls calling yourself honest, Faizah…
She speaks those words through her teeth, the nervousness not fading away.
Trinity Thompson:
Do you really think I don’t see you? Do you think I didn’t realize that what you’re doing is nothing but projection? Point the finger at me hoping that nobody realizes that YOU are the false one.. But I won’t stoop that low, I won’t throw around wild accusations like you did and still do. I just find it ironic that you’re lashing out on me like this, but I guess it’s easier to call a hypocrite the person who’s standing in front of you rather than the one you see every morning in the mirror…
Faizah lowers her head slightly refusing to look Trinity directly in the eye for a moment. Taking a deep breath to settle down she raises her head up. She looks over her shoulder at Millie.
Faizah Marshall:
I’m sorry...
Faizah shifts her attention back to Trinity.
Faizah Marshall:
I’m done, Trinity. I can’t be in the same room with you. Gian put us in this situation, being the champion that I am, I will show up. Honor my commitment. And we will win. Beating JJ is as natural as breathing for me, zero percent chance we'll lose. But me and you... no... I hoped we could bury the hatchet; for Millie’s sake.
Faizah turns her back to Trinity. She goes to hug Millie.
Faizah Marshall:
Talk to you later, okay?
Faizah pulls away, nods to Millie then walks off, not bothering to acknowledge her tag team partner for the week.
Millie Smith:
That was intense.
As Millie swallows hard. Her hood up trying to disappear from the uncomfortable situation.
Millie Smith:
I'm worried again, even more so.
Trinity Thompson:
You don’t have to…
Trinity sighs as she places her hand on Millie’s shoulder.
Trinity Thompson:
I know what you did and why you did it. Faizah is not my friend anymore, we can’t be friends after the things she said… But you are. We are teamies, you and I… Remember?
For the first time since these events took place, there’s a smile on Trinity’s face. A honest one.
Trinity Thompson:
And Team Trillie will never die. I’ll never ask you to choose between me and Faizah, you can be her friend and mine as well, even though we don’t like each other.
Her words seem to reassure the blonde girl.
Trinity Thompson:
Who knows, maybe one day we’ll be able to look back at this and laugh about it all… But right now, I think it’s best if Faizah and I just avoid each other.
Millie looks up at her tag partner with eyes full of hope. Thompson smiles at her and, with her hand still on Millie's shoulder, walks out of the room with her friend.
