The more things change, the more they stay the same, that’s what they say, right? Ten years ago a young Matt Stone had applied for a loan to get his aspiring career off the ground and been denied by official channels for not having any collateral, which is fair enough for a high school drop out working off jobs to try and make ends meet. When he thought all hope was lost someone had reached out to him about a loan, no questions asked. Little did he know that he would end up indebted to that man for years after paying back. Thankfully that was all behind him, or at least he thought it was until there was a knock on the door.
The attractive blonde who stands on the other side of the door is waiting patiently for him to come and answer, shifting her weight back and forth from one foot to the other. Her father had asked for her to be the one to deliver the message, trusting that it would be easier for her to receive some positive attention, simply based on her appearance.
She didn’t have to wait long for him to come and answer the door, being one of his rare weeks off had left him with no desire to stay in the States any longer than he needed to. He wasn’t necessarily dressed to impress, just having a pair of jeans and a black T-shirt on,but he didn’t have anyone in his life he was trying to impress, either. Opening the door and seeing the person who was standing on the other side was a little shocking for him, not because he recognized her, quite the opposite in fact. To him this was just a gorgeous woman standing on his doorstep. “Uhhh...hi there. What cloud have you descended from?”
Nicole laughs a little bit as she places one hand on her hip, leaning up against the frame of the door while her eyes look over Matt as if she was inspecting him closely. “That’s cute, does that line work often for you?”
Stone shrugs, unphased by her lack of fainting at that clever witticism. “About as often as any other I’d say, but I figured since you were already here it would have boosted odds. If you aren’t here to be compared to divine beings, what can I help you with Miss…?”
“Miss Rossi…” Nicole drawls out softly as she brushes over the front of the red dress she’s wearing that hugs all of the curves on her body, raising one eyebrow as she looks at him.
Matt’s playful demeanor shrinks up a little bit as she introduces herself, being all too familiar with that surname and what it represents. “I see...and to what do I owe the pleasure of your company Miss Rossi?”
“Are you sure you want to be talking about this out here?” Nicole gestures to the other houses before she looks back towards Matt with an amused expression on her face. “I feel that a little bit of privacy would be better, don’t you?”
“I don’t know what ‘this’ is.” Matt says, waiting for a few moments before sighing and taking a step back from the door. “Alright, come on in. Should I kiss your hand while I’m at it?” He asks with a bit of a smirk, though would likely regret it.
“Only if you want to risk losing your lips.” She laughs after her response as she steps foot inside of his home and waits for him to close the door behind her, taking the time to look around a bit as if she was looking to make herself comfortable with her surroundings. “I’m sure if you give it some thought that you can figure out what ‘this’ is all about.”
Matt closes the door behind her and rolls his eyes, apparently his humour was going to be lost on her, much like the rest of her family. “Well I could hope that you’re a fan of my work and would like an autograph, though I’m starting to think that’s not where this is going.”
Nicole is running one finger along the side of the wall as she continues to look around Matt’s home, pausing for a moment as she looks back at him, pressing her lips together in a pout. “Actually, I am familiar with your work…”
“Well that’s a plus” He’s quick to point out, though still doesn’t seem to be entirely comfortable with her just looking around. “Can I offer you a drink? A snack? A tour of the place?” While he’s asking polite questions, there's clearly a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“Oh no, I don’t think that will be necessary…” Nicole turns around so that she’s facing him as she places both of her hands on her hips. “We do have business to discuss.”
“Oh we do?” He asks, looking at her in her baby blue eyes. He takes notes of the authoritative demeanor she’s showing him. “What business would that be, exactly? I haven’t dealt with your family in a decade”
“Did you think that meant your debt was wiped clean?” Nicole takes a few steps closer towards where he’s standing so that she can look right into his eyes, raising one eyebrow slightly as if she was daring him to challenge her. “You’re a smart guy, come on now.”
Matt stands his ground, though he’s increasingly becoming aware that she doesn’t seem to be joking around. “Just when you think you’re out they pull you back in? I thought that was just a line in a movie…”
Nicole scrunches up her nose as she appears to be giving some thought to his little joke, not finding any amusement as per usual, before the corners of her mouth turns upwards as she begins to smirk. “We want to make sure you don’t forget who made all of this possible.”
“All of this?” He asks, looking around at his humble abode. “I got some start up money from your family, I know, but I paid it back. Shouldn’t that mean that we’re like, done? And that was ten years ago, what could you want with me now?”
“Maybe I’m just curious and wanted to meet you myself…” Nicole tilts her head slightly as she looks up at Matt, taking another step closer before she takes one index finger and traces a line down the front of his shirt slowly.
Matt raises an eyebrow but doesn’t step back as she approaches and begins to fiddle with his hemline. “Meet me? I’m pretty sure you were there at least once looking back….though I will say you're a much better debt collector than the last guy. You don’t even have a baseball bat!”
“I have much more effective methods at my disposal…” Nicole drawls out slowly, wanting to give him some time to picture in his mind what she could be talking about, as she starts to trace her finger back upwards along the fabric of his shirt.
“You have ways of making me talk?” He asks with a bit of a nervous laughter. She’s a beautiful woman of course, but knowing her background made her more intimidating than you would think at a glance and he wasn’t so certain she had come alone.
Nicole is still smiling as she reaches up to pat Matt on the cheek a couple of times with one hand. “I can’t reveal all of my secrets at once, now can I? Wouldn’t be much fun.”
“Well I don’t need to know all of your secrets...though we could start with one and then go from there, yeah?” As he’s speaking, he could feel her fingers pressed to his cheek, though he tried to act like it wasn’t happening. “What exactly can I help you with?”
“I was thinking that I’d like to get a closer look at your career.” Nicole pulls her hand away as she takes a step back, walking around the room a bit as she focuses her attention on the decor rather than looking over at Matt. “Really get a feel for what we invested our money in.”
“Invested?” he questions, relieved that she’s since found something else to occupy her attention than him, even if it was his stuff. “I was under the impression it was a one time loan that I’ve since repaid, with interest mind you. As far as I’m concerned-” he began to say before she cut him off.
“It’s cute that you think you’re the one calling the shots still.” Nicole is smiling as she keeps her eyes focused on him, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “What good is it to help kick start someone’s career and not make sure it was well worth the price?”
He hesitates for a second, not wanting to anger her but still not wanting her to think he'll just roll over, either. “Well you do know you can catch up on my career on television, right? I have a few DVDs of my career as well, I’ll even sign one for you if you like, but I’d say your family made a wise investment.”
“Oh no, that’s not the way I like to do things…” Nicole gives a quick shake of her head before she takes a few steps bringing her back closer to where Matt was standing. “I like to be very hands on, to make sure I’m getting the full experience.”
Matt seems a little taken aback as she gets up real close, close enough for him to tell what sort of perfume she was wearing. “And what exactly does that mean…?” His voice is softer and nowhere matching the level of intensity she has.
“It means that you’re about to have yourself some company while you do all your traveling for wrestling.” Nicole’s eyes open a little bit wider as she waits a moment for this to sink in.
“What?” he heard what she said, of course, though he didn’t want to believe it. “How is that going to work, can your goons even get across the border? Most of my work is in the States these days and I have a feeling a majority of your associates may have a record.”
Nicole rolls her eyes like she couldn’t believe how ridiculous he was being at the moment. “I’m not bringing any goons with me, seriously, you’ve been watching way too many movies.”
“In my defense, you didn’t say that you would be the one following me around.” he points out, his need to be a smart ass outweighs his need to be alive in that moment. “And what’s wrong with movies? You telling me they aren’t accurate?”
Nicole chuckles a little bit, shaking her head, before she reaches out and places her index finger directly against the middle of Matt’s chest. “I guess you’re about to find out, aren’t you?”
The attractive blonde who stands on the other side of the door is waiting patiently for him to come and answer, shifting her weight back and forth from one foot to the other.
