Academy Pre-Show Match
Gold Star Match
Faith Savell © VS Faizah MarshallGold Star Match
Second pre-show appearance for Faith Savell, probably the best talent in The Academy, undoubtedly the one who stood out the most in these first four months. Back at Coup De Grâce she challenged and defeated Tiana Petrova-Hammond for the Gold Star, and tonight she’s scheduled to defend it against the Original BAE, Faizah Marshall. After a rough start, due partly to the complicated relationships with her team Strike partners, namely Faith and JJ Night, Faizah has been nothing short than impressive in the past two months, since she switched teams and joined Michael Ali’s squad. Both girls looked extremely focused, the first minute or so of this match was the two of them merely studying each other, circling around and rarely sinking the blow, both of them more careful about not giving the opponent the first strike than trying to get that early advantage. Eventually Faith broke the tie faking a left low kick to the leg and catching Marshall with a right hand instead. The Original BAE faltered, and that kick-started the champion’s offense. Savell’s technique was almost flawless, the strikes were swift and pinpoint, culminating in a roundhouse that sent Faizah spinning around 180° degrees, which allowed her to connect a textbook bridging german suplex that earned her the first near fall of the match. The first part of the match was all Faith. She seemed to have a counter for every move Faizah attempted, which denoted a great scouting work from the young girl. Perfectionist to a fault, Faith was known for being one of the hardest workers in the Academy more so now that she reached the top holding the Gold Star. All those hours spent inside the gym, practicing her moves and listening to the trainers’ advice, especially Lady Magdalena who she tributed with the Our Lady Peace bicycle knee. Marshall was once again laying flat on her back and Faith rushed to make the cover. But the young member of Team Ali wasn’t giving up without a fight, and kicked out in two. She slowly crawled toward the ropes, Faith stalking her and wrapping her arms around her waist for another suplex but Faizah clung onto the ropes, and the referee stepped in to separate the two. Faith kept attacking but she ate a boot to the face that staggered her. This was the opportunity the Original BAE needed, and she took it to the fullest with a volley of forearms and elbows that absolutely rocked the Gold Star. Marshall sprinted at the ropes and springboarded back with a crossbody, but a picture perfect from the champion knocked her down on the mat. With a confident grin on her face, Faith went to make the cover but Marshall surprised her with a cradle and almost obtained the win. Savell went for the bridging northern lights suplex that gave her so many wins in The Academy, but Faizah had it scouted and was able to block the attempt. A couple of well placed punches to the ribs doubled Faith over and gave the challenger some room to charge in and drill the champion with a tornado ddt. A cover attempt and a two count. Marshall quickly picked the opponent up and unleashed a series of knife edge chops, pushing Savell in the corner and driving her knee on her face, following up with a running bulldog that earned her another near fall, this time closer to the three. Perhaps for the first time, Faizah felt like she could really do it, Savell looked in trouble like she had never been before. Another close call for the champion after a diving meteora, and you could tell by the look on her face that she felt like the title she worked so hard for was slipping through her fingers. Backlash from the champion who ran up the corner while Marshall was finding her balance for one of her aerial attacks and caught her with a spectacular belly to belly suplex. But the move took a lot out of her as well, and she wasted a couple of precious seconds before draping her arm across Faizah’s chest, and thus only got a count of two. Both of them had left everything in that ring, looking exhausted as they traded shots back and forth. Marshall was ready to plant Faith with a ddt, but the Gold Star slipped out of it and moved behind Faizah’s back, applying another waistlock. But she didn’t go for a german suplex as expected, pushing the opponent against the ropes instead and pinned her with an O’Connor Roll, maliciously grabbing a handful of tights to keep her down for the three count. WINNER: Faith Savell (STILL GOLD STAR) BY: Pinfall (O’Connor Roll), 15:27 |
The camera cut immediately to the rest of the students in the front row to gather their reaction. Olly was on his feet, applauding his best friends who successfully retained. The disappointment was clear on the face of all the other students, some of them complaining about how Faizah was screwed. But when the challenger got up to her feet, distraught for coming up short and how, they all stood up to tribute her a well-deserved round of applause. And so did every single one of the fans in attendance.
Olly was congratulating with her as well, and next to him, Karen Eldon was doing the same. The other students were glaring at her, all of them, to different degrees, had an argument with her at some point. All but Olly who, for some reason, managed to stay in talking terms with Eldon, despite the frictions between her and Faith, or anyone else in the Academy.
Tiana Petrova-Hammond was walking back to her seat with a couple of drinks, one for herself and one for Trinity. She smiled at her friend, passing in front of Olly to reach her and "accidentally tripping" on his foot, pouring the Pepsi all over Karen's face and dress. The students couldn't help but laugh, more so when Tiana apologised in a not-so-convincing way. Karen was livid, standing up and getting in Tiana's face, angry and possibly embarrassed. The russian-american didn't flinch, the tension was rising between the two of them until Olly defused it. Drenched in Pepsi, he stood up between the two women and turned to Karen, thanking her for the company. Eldon rolled her eyes and walked away. Tiana went back to her seat, a wide smile plastered on her face. Olly laughed it out and sat down, not caring in the slightest about his shirt being soaked wet.

The fans were still buzzing over the pre-show match, once again the Academy kids put on a wonderful contest that surely warmed up the crows for the main course. A stacked card with five titles on the line, including the highly anticipated main event where Melissa Reeves will defend her Cloud Gate championship from Lowri Moss in a two out of three falls match. Pyros illuminated the entrance stage with colorful explosions, officially kicking off what promised to be another explosive night of wrestling. Cut to the commentators’ boot where Peyton, Ambra, Amy and Figgles welcomed the fans with their warmest smiles. Not Figgles though, who still didn’t get over what happened in last night’s main event.
Peyton Holland:
Good evening ladies and…
STATIC.
The image frizzled for a few seconds, finally adjusting to close up of ROTTEN’s own Rory. He was frantically tapping on the keyboard on his laptop, his eyes constantly bouncing between the camera and the screen. The image went blurry for a moment before adjusting again, and a second later the audio began to work correctly as well.
Rory:
And… We’re in.
He said flashing that proud smirk as he finally stepped back. The camera finally gave a wider view of the scene. Hard to tell where this was being recorded, the room itself looked quite anonymous, the backdrop was a ROTTEN banner and there was no details telling if they were even in the Arena.
But they were there. All of them.
Rory, of course. Micaela flanked by Max and Fynn, Xavier Laroux one step behind her and, next to him, the leader of the group, OTK. They were just standing there, stoic and serious. And, most importantly, silent. You would expect them to explain the actions from last night, to read their manifesto or make a claim. Something, anything really. But all they offered was silence, until a voiceover began to speak.
Voiceover:
Last night, you witnessed the beginning of the revolution. Make no mistake though, that wasn’t a personal attack to Chris Constantine Junior, but a direct attack to what he represents.
One percenters, trust-fund babies living off the success of their fathers, a success they built on the back of honest workers.
Corporate pigs whose only interest is profit without a single care for the people who create that profit for them, but can barely make ends meet.
Freeloaders who go on in this business for their backstage politics and their wheeling-and-dealing behind closed doors with corrupted management.
There was a pause before the voice continued.
Voiceover:
For far too long, they had things their own way. For far too long they have been allowed to thrive by complacent companies who let them run amok for an extra buck, to the detriment of honest wrestlers and you, the people.
Millennium Wrestling Enterprise has become a sanctuary for people like Constantine. This company’s root has always sunk in a black pit of corruption, ever since it was founded by Chuck Matthews. And the person who took it over, Grace van Beek has proven to be cut off the same cloth.
For years they made millions on you honest fans. They took your hard-earned money for your own entertainment, all while underpaying or not paying at all their employees.
ROTTEN came here to subvert the status quo, to give the power back to the people.
